Little by little we're building up to the 'punchline' of this story (Although at this point since this story has become much more a drama than a comedy it really isn't even all that funny anymore)
Peeking their heads out the doors, into the hallway to make sure the coast was clear.
"First thing I did when I came here was find the location of the lab showers..." Jonathan whispered as the three of them, two human men and one giant mutant spider made their way down the hall as sillently as they could. "When you work with chemicals they are vital in case you're exposed to harmful substances."
And of course they weren't too far from where Scarecrow's Lab/Office had been placed, they are went in as quickly as possible.
At first the two rogues wanted to strip off their soaked stinky clothes as quickly as possible, but then they remembered there was someone of the female persuasion right next to them, and while both of them couldn't be sure yet her claims of formerly being human were true. (Jonathan was willing to believe, Edward was still skeptical) the fact remained she had the voice of a twelve year old human girl and she certainly acted similar.
"Vanessa." Jonathan said calmly "The laundry chute is over there, we're going to go behind this row of showers and after we've removed out clothes, I'll kick the laundry basket to you so you can send the clothes down the chute, while we're showering we need you to find us some alternitive clothes!"
"Any kind of clothes?" Vanessa said
"Yes!" Jonathan hissed "Any kind of clothes, as long as they fit!"
"Even if they're uh...Women's clothes?"
"I seriously doubt you'll find frocks in a labrortory..." Jonathan said dryly "...But if that were the case I would wear women's clothes for the time being, beggars can't be choosers."
"OK." Vanessa said
Jonathan and Edward went around the row of showers so they were out of sight, stripped off their drenched clothes, put them in a laundry basket, and with one good kick, Jonathan sent the basket sliding across the floor past the row of showers so Vanessa could reach out with her long spider arms to grab the basket as Jonathan and Edward both quickly ducked into a shower cublicle.
Vanessa tried not to gag as she took the stinking clothes over to the laundry chute, as she poured the clothes down the chute she thought to herself 'I don't think I smelled a stench this nasty since, back when the neighbor kids were in diapers' Vanessa didn't have any siblings but she did remember when the neighbor kids next door were babies when she was in elementery school and she remembered the smell whenever their diapers were dirty.
"OK..." Vanessa said as she put down the laundry basket "...That's done...I'll try to find you guys some new clothes." And with that she opened the door, checked to see the coast was clear and left.
Jonathan smiled a smile he hadn't smiled for a long time, it wasn't one of his regular nasty smiles anticpating the the fears of his victims, no it was a smile of a teacher when he was actually proud of his students.
"What a sweet girl..." Jonathan said as he took a bar of soap and began to lather himself up "...A bit of an oddball I can see, but odd in a good way, shame what happened to her."
"You don't actually believe that...Thing...Was actually once a human do you?" Edward sneered
"Why do you find it so hard to believe?" Jonathan asked "You know about Kirk Langstrom."
"When Kirk Langstrom became Man-Bat he completely lost his human mind and was only driven by animal instinct!" Edward retorted
"And what of Selina Kyle's ordeal?" Jonathan asked "When she was transformed into a literal cat-woman she retained her human mind and ability to speak."
And that left Edward frozen for a few moments "I know I wasn't there to see what Selina looked like in that form..." Edward said quietly "...But the Spider...She...She's no longer Humanoid, she is now horazontal instead of upright, walking on six of her eight limbs..."
"That can be the result of a multitude of factors..." Jonathan said simply "This Goop is obviously not the same thing Langstrom and Emile Dorian used and because vertebrates and invertebrates are so different from each other, combining a human with an arachnid might result in some problems when blending the forms...But listening to her voice...While obviously quite different, I'm reminded of someone I used to know..."
Meanwhile as she was headed down the hallway in serch of a clothes, Vanessa realized she was probably getting farther and farther away from the Turtles, and the original reason she set out was because Mikey got attacked by that weird skull headed crow, Oh geez, Mikey! She hoped and prayed he could hang on and that he wasn't dead! Taking some deep breaths Vanessa realized she had to take care of one emergency at a time and that the two rogues were probably her best bet to getting back to the Turtles, then she heard human voices coming, she ducked into the nearest room.
Which contained an Oylmpic sized swimming pool...
So with that reminder, we'll check in on Mikey next chapter
