So I've been having some insomnia problems lately, just feeling hyper at night and don't want to sleep until the morning light, well I've learned that sometimes you got to reverse psychology your own body, the best way to make yourself tired is to make yourself stay up and in particular make yourself think up new ideas that seems to really take some energy out of you, anyway been a while since I updated this story I just kind of got stuck at the last chapter.
As they all made their ways through the sewers, Leo carrying Mikey, Raph carrying Edward, Don carrying Jonathan with Vanessa following meekly behind them.
The sewer stink was making Edward gag, but even in this miserable situation he was able to see some irony here and there, thinking he should almost be grateful this freak was carrying him or else he would have to walk through sewage in his bare feet, as much as he would hate to walk through the sewers in designer shoes walking through the sewers barefoot seemed too much of a health risk.
After his heart had slowed down a bit, Jonathan was beginning to get his bearings back unlike that Dandy Nygma, Jonathan had gone into the sewers before, albeit not for any great lengh of time, really the most recent time was during the time he broke out of Arkham because of Lyle Bolton, had a brief encounter with Killer Croc and had as close to courtious exchange as good be had with the thug.
But anyway after all that happened, Jonathan figured the best thing to do now would be try to be civil with their new 'hosts'
"All right." Jonathan said trying to keep his voice calm "You clealy blindfolded us so to keep your location a secret and honestly I can't say I blame you, but what do you plan to do with us once we get there?"
"Tie you up." Came the Brooklyn accented one's bursque reply.
"Raph..." Came the voice of what seemed to be the Leader of the Brothers "...Look, if you were really trying to help Mikey, thank you but the fact still remains you were working with those guys on something related to Mutants and you know your reputation."
"I understand..." Jonathan said quietly "...I understand given what potential crimes I might have already commited against your...people but the fact that you are talking to us more civily than most of the staff at Arkham does make me for once...Willing to be bound for a while if only if being held captive by you would be less unpleasant then a stay at Old Bedlam."
That made the Turtles stop in their tracks for a moment, for a moment they felt a brief flicker of pity for these Crooks who were taken to what was supposed to be a mental hospital instead of a prison but really that brought to mind stories like One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, A Clackwork Orange and even more horrific tales...But then something else Jonathan had said that had even them an uneasy feeling.
"Our...People..." Don said slowly "...Just saying that is quite the trip for us, because for the longest time we thought we were the only Mutant Animals in existance!"
"Oh?" Jonathan said
"Just us," Don said as they resumed their brisk pace through the sewers "Our adoptive rat father and later we discovered a crocodile who had been mutated by the same Mutagen we had, but that brings us to the ooze, the mutagen that Mutated all of us was green, not blue like this 'Goop' you're studying at Proteus.
"Oh!" Jonathan exclaimed "So there is more than one!"
"Yeah and I've got more news for you..." Don said "...I saw your notes Professor, how baffled you were by the Goop, and I think I can tell you why your studies were so inconclusive, the Mutagen that Mutated us, could properly be called the result of science, but that Goop Proteus is obsessed with probobly would be better classified as magic than science."
"How do you know this?" Jonathan asked
"Our Father who is very knowladgeable in the ways of the spiritual, revealed to us his revelation that the blue goo is actually the essence of the psionic world of the subconcious that is somehow leaking into the world of the waking."
At that point Jonathan and even Edward's jaws dropped, both had enough experience with dreams that when they heard that they felt for some reason they had to believe it, like deep in their hearts they knew that this realm of dreams had to be true from their own painful experiences...And now so much strange stuff made sense now!
Vanessa who had been quiet this entire time said "You guys look a little pale, do you know anything about this by any chance?"
So mostly just a transition chapter which is fine because characters got to get from Point A to Point B but also a way to delay what they do at the lair and also delay Mikey's spirit quest/journey subplot
