Chapter 2:

Chrysalis

A small mouse skitters around and drinks water from a puddle. Then it rushed around and climbed up a small log and sniffed around. The mouse then scurries down and stops momentarily to groom itself and then it crawls up a stem of grass and crawls up some rocks.

The mouse crawls into the bed chambers of a pony and sniffs around. It then crawls up a stool and finds what appears to be a bowl of seeds as if sompony's left it out. The mouse started feeding on the seeds.

Suddenly appearing from the darkness is a greenish-grey-coated Alicorn mare with a sea-green mane and tail, green eyes, and a curved horn. Her wings are combed, and her cutie mark is a green-shelled black beetle. She also appears to be wearing black regalias with green gems.

This Alicorn is Chrysalis. She was promised to rule the Castle Of Harmony when Cobalt and Aurora passed away, but all that changed when their daughter was born. Chrysalis was upset when the filly was born, and now she has to wait for the daughter of Cobalt and Aurora to pass on so she could be next in line for the throne. She hated that she had been second born since she was smarter than Aurora, her husband, or their younger siblings.

How should such a thing have happened?

And why should she have to wait because they had a foal?

The child was nothing special, and looked just like other foals did, while she had been waiting for years to be queen and would also have more smarts and experience than the new foal would ever hope to have.

"Life's not fair... is it, my little friend?" Chrysalis asked coldly as the mouse turned to her and quickly jumped off the stool to skitter somewhere to hide.

"While some are born to feast…" Chrysalis said as the mouse hid behind a book left on the floor.

"Others spend their lives in the dark, begging for scraps," Chrysalis said as she moved the book aside with a swap of her hoof and the mouse runs off again.

"The way I see it...you and I are exactly the same," Chrysalis said as the mouse hid behind a basket.

But the Alicorn mare swatted the basket away too as the mouse ran away and Chrysalis pounced on the little rodent, like a lion, and caught it with her magic.

"We both want to find a way out…" Chrysalis said as she allowed the mouse to scurry on her hoof before the little rodent tried to jump to freedom.

"But you, unfortunately, shall never see the light of another day…Adios," Chrysalis said as she snagged the mouse again and prepared to vaporize the rodent with her magic.

"Didn't Mother tell you it's not nice to torment those weaker than you?" a familiar female voice said.

Chrysalis turned to see a deadpanned Luna standing near her and lightly sighed with the mouse under her hoof, struggling to get free, and said, "What do you want, Luna?".

"I am here to let you know that Rory is on her way. So I hope for your sake you have a good excuse for missing the ceremony this morning," Luna said as she bowed over one of her wings and Chrysalis looked to see the mouse finally got itself free while she was distracted and ran away to another hole.

"Oh, now look Luna. You made me lose my target," Chrysalis said in mock hurt.

"Hah! Well, I'm afraid you will lose more than that when Aurora is through with you. She's as mad as a dragon with a toothache," Luna said, crossing her arms huffily. She knew Chrysalis didn't have a good excuse for missing the ceremony, and would definitely be in trouble.

"Oooooooooh...I quiver with FEAR!" Chrysalis rasped out as she crouches down and bares a sharp tooth grin at Luna.

Luna then suddenly got scared at the way Chrysalis looked at her and said as she backed away, "Now Chrysalis, don't you look at me like that…..HELLLPPP!" Luna yelled as she started flying in fear.

But Chrysalis has already pounced on her and lifted Luna off the ground. But before Chrysalis could harm the Alicorn of the night, another female voice was heard calling Chrysalis's name as a magenta hoof came into view, "Chrysalis!".

Chrysalis looks behind herself to see Aurora along with Celestia, a white Alicorn mare who was only a head shorter than she was, her coat was pure white, her eyes a lovely violet, her pink mane and tail also blowing in a non-existent wind like hers. Her cutie mark of a golden sun with her own golden regalia with cut amethyst crystal on her collar and crown, standing at the entrance. And Aurora seems to be quite cross with Chrysalis.

"Yyyyeeesss?" Chrysalis asked, innocently.

"Put Luna down," Aurora ordered.

"Impeccable timing, sister," Luna said feeling relieved before Chrysalis tossed her aside as the blue Alicorn huffed in annoyance. It was always hard being the youngest.

While Celestia helped her sister up to her hooves, Chrysalis sauntered over to Aurora being sarcastically overjoyed, and said, "Why! If it isn't my big Sister descending from on high to mingle with us, commoners,".

"Cobalt and I didn't see you at the presentation of Twilight," Aurora stated, furrowing her brows and the dark gray Alicorn. Her anger was barely contained but she wondered if she would have a good excuse.

Chrysalis gave a mock gasp, "That was today? Oh, I feel simply awwwful," Chrysalis said, dramatically faking despair as she scraped her horn against a wall, making a horrible screeching sound, which made Celestia and Luna cringe.

But Chrysalis stopped and examined her horn, "Must've slipped my mind," She said simply.

"Yes, well as slippery as your mind is as the queen's and our sister, you should've been first in line!" Luna retorted as she flew close to Chrysalis's face accusingly.

Chrysalis then snapped her jaws at her and Luna took cover behind Aurora's and Celestia's forelegs in fear but looked past them to sneer at Chrysalis.

"I was first in line…until that little fluff ball was born," Chrysalis said as she kneeled and glares at Luna, scaring her again before Aurora lowered her head to meet her gaze with an annoyed expression.

"That 'fluffball'...is my daughter. And your future queen!" Aurora affirmed as Chrysalis gave her a bored look and as they rose back to full height still eye to eye.

"Oh, then I shall practice my bow and my curtsy immediately," Chrysalis mocked with a smirk as she turned and walked away.

"Don't turn your wings on me Chrysalis!" Aurora said, warning her.

Chrysalis just looked back and said, "Oh no, Aurora. Perhaps you shouldn't turn your wings on me,".

Chrysalis then turned and walked away once more.

Aurora became furious and magically teleported herself in front of Chrysalis, blocking her way, and said while clenching her teeth and charging her horn with magic at her sister for the first time in a long while, "Is that a challenge I detect in your voice?!" Aurora demanded advancing towards her sister threateningly as Chrysalis for once flinched but recomposed herself.

"Temper, temper, Aurora. I wouldn't dream of challenging you, again," Chrysalis said, rolling her eyes before gesturing to her scar on her left eye.

"Quite a wise decision, Chrysalis. Since you are no match for Aurora's level of magic!" Celestia said, stating the facts as Luna emerges from behind her. She was immensely proud of her sister Aurora.

"Well as far as raw power and brains go I got the manticore's share but when it comes to magical knowledge and friendship...I'm afraid being on the shallow end of the gene pool our big sister will always rule." Chrysalis said looking at Celestia and then at Aurora, clearly bitter and incensed before her expression faded and she started walking away again somberly between them.

"Not always, Chrysalis. Someday, it will be my daughter who'll rule. And Twilight will be your Queen," Aurora said with some pride.

"Then long live the Queen," Chrysalis said dryly, glancing back and continuing walking away.

Luna lets out a sigh and said as she sits next to Aurora, "There's one in every family, Aurora, three in mine unfortunately and they always seemed to ruin special occasions,".

"What am I gonna do with her?" Aurora said to herself with a sigh.

"Oh, please, Aurora. We all know that Chrysalis should've been expelled from the kingdom long ago," Celestia scoffed. While Chrysalis was family, there was something about her that made Celestia uneasy.

"Chrysalis is our sister, Celestia and this is her home. As long as Cobalt and I are on the throne, that will never change," Aurora said as they watched Chrysalis stalk away.

"I guess you're right, Sister. But in my opinion, she would make a very lovely garden piece," Luna said with a cheeky grin.

"Luna!" Aurora scolded, with a smirk.

"And just think Rory, whenever we have a bird infestation, we can have one more statue to distract them," Celestia said as the three sisters began to chuckle and started walking out back to the Castle Of Harmony.

Clouds roil over the Land of Equestria. Hours later, at night, thunder rumbles, and curtains of rainfall in the distance. The smooth surface of a river is disrupted by heavy rainfall. The rainstorm spread throughout Equestria. All the creatures who resided were all in their respective shelters and fast asleep. However, thunder booms, and lightning zigzag across the sky, illuminating Zecora's lone tower. Inside her tower, the Unicorn mare was completing a painting by using a gourd to paint an Alicorn Filly, with lightning occasionally lighting up her canvas.

Zecora was muttering something to herself to which the filly's name was used. She sets down one gourd and picks up another.

"Hmmm…*Chuckling*," Zecora chuckled, smiling at her handiwork as she dipped her brush into the gourd and added the final touches to the painting by painting a crown on the filly's head.

"I have held the pony of day and night, I have finished the painting of Twilight," Zecora said with another chuckle and admired her painting.

Here she is...the second chapter of THE ALICORN QUEEN ( Rewritten Edition )

Looks like not everybody was at the presentation of the new queen. It would appear that Chrysalis, the Queen's younger sister, hasn't shown up for the presentation at all. And the reason for that is because she was first in line for the throne after her sister passes away but all of that change when Aurora gave birth to her new filly who inherit the throne before Chrysalis.

Chrysalis even expressed her anger and jealousy of the filly's interference to the mouse she has trapped. Luckily for the mouse, Luna has arrived and told Chrysalis that Aurora is on her way to have a word with her about missing the ceremony. Before Aurora even arrived, Chrysalis began to attack Luna but was stopped by her older sister, Aurora, who came along with Celestia.

Aurora was rather crossed with Chrysalis missing the presentation of her daughter, which Chrysalis feigns despair and thought she must have slip her mind. And to make matters worse for the four sisters, Luna reminded her older sister, Chrysalis, that she should've been first in line which Chrysalis reminded her back that she was first in line until her 'niece' was born.

This has Aurora annoyed by her sisters' behavior towards her daughter and reminded her that the filly will be Chrysalis's future queen. She even warned Chrysalis to not turn her wings on her, which Chrysalis mocks back.

Enraged, Aurora teleported in front of Chrysalis and clenched her teeth at her for the first time and even demanded Chrysalis if she was challenging her.

Chrysalis tells her that she wouldn't even dream of challenging her because she, Celestia, and Luna both know that Aurora's level of magic is a bit stronger and higher than theirs. But Chrysalis also states that as far as raw power and brains go, she got the Manticore share. However, seeing that it comes to Magical Knowledge and Friendship, Chrysalis just resigns and leaves.

Celestia and Luna think they should've expelled Chrysalis from the kingdom when they had a chance. But Aurora reminds them that Chrysalis is their sister and the kingdom is her home. So as long as she and her husband are on the throne, that rule will probably never change.

Meanwhile, Zecora was in her tower and she has completed a painting of the filly she held up in the presentation by painting a crown.

Now this is where the legend, adventure, and story truly begins...
