Chapter 4:

Our Little Secret

An hour later, Chrysalis was seen pacing back and forth in the gardens at the back of the Castle Of Harmony minding her own business. While she was pacing back and forth, Chrysalis kicked an old branch out of her way and continued on. She didn't like it when anything got in her way. Then Twilight appears and runs to the greenish-gray coated Alicorn mare and said excitedly, "Hey, Aunt Chrysalis, guess what?".

Chrysalis didn't like to be called that. The only reason why she was called that is because she is the sister of Twilight's mother. But ever since Twilight was born, Chrysalis never cared about the filly. And just because Twilight is now in line for the throne and not her, Chrysalis doesn't want to call Twilight her "Niece".

"I despise guessing games," Chrysalis said, rolling her eyes and paying no attention to Twilight.

"I'm gonna be the Queen of The Castle of Harmony," Twilight said, approaching Chrysalis and striking a pose. Not noticing her Aunt's annoyance.

"Oh, goody," Chrysalis said, frowning sarcastically as Twilight flies off.

"My parents just showed me the whole kingdom. And I'm gonna rule it all," Twilight said as she flew in the air and got a good look at the sight of the city as she laughed with pride.

"Yes, well forgive me for not leaping for joy. Bad back, you know," Chrysalis said as she flops down on her side.

"Hey, Aunt Chrysalis. When I'm queen, what will that make you?" Twilight asked as she approached Chrysalis and rested on her neck.

"A Jackalope's Auntie," Chrysalis said, sarcastically.

Twilight rolled off Chrysalis's mane and said with a chuckle, "You're so weird, Aunt Chrysalis,".

Chrysalis lifted her head to meet Twilight's gaze and gave the filly her most convincing grin, "You have no idea…So Twilight, Aurora and Cobalt showed you the whole kingdom did they?" She asked as she got up and moved again.

"Mmm-hmm, Everything," Twilight confirmed as she follows Chrysalis.

"Well, did they show you what lies beyond the borders of our kingdom?" Chrysalis asked, sitting down, and looking towards one of the said borders.

"No, they said I can't go there. Ever," Twilight said with a disappointed look as she sat down as well with her ears drooping.

"And they're absolutely right. It's far too dangerous, only the bravest and most powerful Alicorns go there," Chrysalis said dramatically, looking out into the horizon.

"Well, I'm brave, and my magic is powerful. What's out there?" Twilight asked, tilting her head questioningly.

"I'm sorry, Twilight. I'm afraid I just can't tell you," Chrysalis interrupted while laying on her stomach on the ground, holding her head up and looking away.

"But why not?" Twilight asked, trotting to the other side of her.

"Twilight, Twilight. I'm only looking out for the well-being of my favorite niece," Chrysalis said, rubbing Twilight's mane lovingly, but she was only pretending to be loving. It was important to keep up the act.

Twilight snorts sarcastically and said, "Auntie Chrys, I like told Aunty Tia before, I'm your only niece,".

"All the more reason for me to be protective. Besides, a Dragon Graveyard is no place for a young princess. Oops!" Chrysalis said, faking astonishment as she placed her hoof over her mouth and gasped with fake shock.

"A Dragon what?! Whoa!" Twilight said in amazement.

"Oh, dear your mother will have my head on a pike! But I suppose you would find out sooner or later with you being the Queen and so clever and all," Chrysalis said, putting a hoof on her head, and acting dramatically.

"Have you been there before?" Twilight asked.

"Oh, we've all been there before, Twilight." Chrysalis commented, "But it's still no place for you, with its scores of rotting dragon bones and burning pools of oozing mud," Chrysalis said.

"Rotting Bones? Oozing Mud?" Twilight asked, in great interest.

"Yes, but just do me one favor, Twilight. Promise you'll never visit that dreadful place," Chrysalis said as she pulled Twilight near her and nuzzled her.

"No, problem," Twilight said, thinking about it.

"There's a good lass. Now run along now and have fun," Chrysalis said with a smile as she gently shooed her "niece" away.

But before Twilight left, Chrysalis called out to her and said "...Oh, and remember, Twilight. It's our little secret…,".

With that, Twilight ran off happily as Chrysalis begins to walk off in the opposite direction and said with an evil smirk, "...Your Majesty,".

Her dark plan is now in motion and everything is going according to plan.

Author's Note: And here's Chapter 4 of the Rewritten Edition Of THE ALICORN QUEEN.

In this chapter, it would seem that Twilight has decided to pay her Aunt Chrysalis a visit. Unnoticed from the filly, that Chrysalis isn't much in a good mood at the moment nor was she paying attention to her so-called 'niece'. And the reason why is because Chrysalis is jealous and angry that Twilight will be in line for the throne instead of her, but she mostly keeps it hidden. However, what Chrysalis might or might not have expected is that Twilight is a young filly, which means she's not only energetic and playful but also curious and pretty easy to trick.

So using her smarts and quick thinking, Chrysalis decided to use Twilight's naivety and curious nature to her advantage by tricking her. Chrysalis tells Twilight about how only the bravest and most powerful Alicorns are allowed to go over the borders of their kingdom. Twilight wants to know how she could prove herself that she is brave and powerful like the other Alicorns. That's when Chrysalis told Twilight about a place that goes by the name of The Dragon Graveyard, which, according to Chrysalis, is no place for a young princess.

Thinking that the Dragon Graveyard might be a perfect chance to prove she is brave and powerful, Twilight promised her aunt to never go there, apart from the fact that she is actually planning on going over there, and ran off.

But little did Twilight know was that she has fallen for Chrysalis's trick for the Alicorn mare had a dark plan on her mind and everything is going according to plan.

What is she up to? We'll find out soon enough...
