Chapter 5:
Can't Wait To Be Queen
After visiting her Aunt Chrysalis, Twilight runs through a few mud puddles in the Castle courtyard where several Alicorns were resting and relaxing. They saw her and smiled as she passed by. Everypony knew what she was doing. She'd been doing it for almost as long as she could walk. She was running off to play with her best friend Flash Sentry. As Twilight got there, she was approached by one of her very close friends; Cadance, a pale, light grayish cerise Alicorn mare with a moderate violet mane and tail with moderate rose and pale gold streaks, and on her flanks is a crystal-shaped heart cutie mark.
"Twilight!" Cadance said, happy to see her.
"Cadance!" Twilight said to the older alicorn.
The two Alicorns then did their secret hoof shake and said in unison, "Sunshine, sunshine, ladybugs awake, clap your hooves and do a little shake,".
After doing their secret hoof shake, Cadance and Twilight shared a hug.
"Where are you off to in such a hurry?" Cadence asked, noticing the filly's excitement.
"I'm looking for Flash. There is a really cool place I wanted to show him! Have you seen him?" Twilight explained.
"Oh, yeah. He's in the bathing chamber with Celestia and Luna. Follow me," Cadance said as she leads Twilight to the bathing chamber while the young filly cuts through the garden picking up leaves and stones on her coat and mane. Not really noticing them or caring about them in her hurry. And looking anything but a princess.
Twilight then enters the bathing chamber and approaches Flash, an Alicorn colt, about Twilight's age, with a brilliant gamboge coat, a moderate sapphire blue mane and tail, sitting in a tub and being given a bath by Luna while Celestia was napping.
Flash and Twilight have known each other since they were still foals and they have played together since they started growing up.
"Hey, Flash," Twilight said, greeting the colt.
"Hi, Twilight," Flash greeted back as Twilight tries to keep quiet, not wanting her aunt to see her.
"Hey, come on I just heard about this great place," Twilight whispered to Flash with one hoof shielding her mouth, not seeing her aunty awake and grinning down at the dirty filly. She loved to play tricks on her niece. Her sisters often said she was the worst prankster of all of them.
"Um, Twilight, I'm kinda in the middle of my bath," Flash said as he was washed down by Luna while Twilight frowned in annoyance. She really wanted to get going and prove herself as an adult.
"And it's time for yours, dear," Celestia said behind Twilight whose face turned into fear. She hated baths. What was the point since you were just going to get messy again? Besides, it messed her mane to get bathed.
Twilight was about to bolt but Celestia grabbed her with her magic. Celestia then placed Twilight in the tub, already filled with water and soap, and started washing her to get the dirt and mud off her. But like any kid, Twilight doesn't like being washed.
"Aunty! Aunty, you're messing up my mane," Twilight complained as her mane was put into a funny style, looking like a cowlick. When Celestia finishes washing her down, she smiles down at her pouting niece. Twilight was oh too cute when she pouted. It was downright adorable.
Twilight jumped out of the tub, shook the water off of herself, and fixed her mane as she asked, "Okay, okay, I'm clean. Can we go now?".
"So where are we going, Twilight? It'd better not be anyplace dumb," Flash said as Luna rubbed a towel over his mane.
"No, Flash. It's really cool," Twilight said, approaching him with a smile.
"Oh, and where exactly is this 'really cool' place, Twilight?" Luna asked with a grin as Twilight flinched.
Twilight begins to think of something to tell her aunts. She doesn't want to blurt out that she and Flash are going to the Dragon Graveyard without getting herself in trouble so she lied to them and said with a bright smile, "Oh…it's around the waterhole in the meadows,".
"The waterhole?! What's so great about the waterhole, Twilight?!" Flash asked with a raised eyebrow as Twilight smiled innocently at her aunts before turning to the colt.
"I'll SHOW you when we GET there," Twilight said through her gritted teeth to Flash.
"Oh," Flash said, catching on to what she meant.
Then Flash turned to Celestia and Luna and asked, "Um…Celestia, Luna, is it okay if I can go with Twilight?".
"Hmmm, what do you think, Tia?" Luna asked Celestia.
"Well…," Celestia said with a teasing smile, thinking about it.
"Pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaaasssssssseeeeee!" Twilight and Flash said through forced grins and giving her the classic "Baby eyes" in unison.
"It's alright with me. But just to the waterhole and no further. And stay downwind, we don't want any stray Diamond Dogs catching you," Celestia said.
Twilight and Flash were completely overjoyed as they jumped up and down in celebration. But Celestia wasn't done talking yet.
"Oh and one more thing, Cadance and Shining Armor will be going with you," Celestia added.
As soon she said that Flash and Twilight suddenly stopped in their celebration as they looked back in unison and Twilight asked, "Wait, Cadance and Shining Armor are coming with us?".
"Yes, they either go with you two or you don't," Luna said.
Seeing that they have no other choice, Twilight and Flash soon exited the chamber with Cadance and Shining Armor following right behind them.
Twilight and Flash started walking down a dirt path toward the waterhole with Shining Armor leading the way and Cadance following close behind, flying overhead. What was unknown to them was what Twilight really had in mind.
Shining Armor was a unicorn who had white fur, dark blue bare hooves, tri-blue colored mane, and sapphire eyes, and his cutie mark was a dark blue shield with a pink six-point star at the center.
"Stay close you two. The sooner we get to the waterhole, the sooner we can leave," Shining Armor said as he, Cadance, Twilight, and Flash made their way to the waterhole.
However, despite the older two being good friends with them, Twilight and Flash aren't too happy with Cadance and Shining Armor coming along. Not that they didn't enjoy their company, it was just with the two keeping an eye on them, Twilight couldn't take Flash to see the Dragon Graveyard without getting caught. But Flash was curious about what Twilight wanted to show him. So he whispered to her quietly so Cadance and Shining Armor couldn't hear them.
"Hey, Twilight. So where are we really going?" Flash asked in a whisper.
"A Dragon Graveyard," Twilight replied also in a whisper.
"WHOA!" Flash said loudly in excitement.
"Flash, Ssssshhhhh! Cadance and Shining Armor," Twilight said, reminding him that Cadance and Shining Armor could hear him.
"Oh, right. So how do we get past the Foalsitters?" Flash asked in a whisper.
Twilight already thought of a way they could lose the two and whispered, "Oh, I know how we can-,".
Cadance noticed the two foals chatting in low voices and grinned, she swooped down to Shining Armor and gestured to him to the younger two. She only had one thing on her mind.
"Oh, just look at those two, Shining Armor. The future Queen and her King, just little seeds of romance blossoming in our kingdom," Cadance gushed, as she and Shining Armor stood in front of the filly and colt.
"Your parents will be thrilled, Twily, knowing you're getting along with your future king," Shining Armor said calling Twilight by her nickname, walking up to the two younger foals and bowing to them.
Twilight and Flash both rolled their eyes and looked at each other with bored looks. Why do Cadance and Shining Armor have to comment on their friendship? And what did they mean by 'future king'?
"Shining Armor, what do you mean?" Twilight asked, tilting her head, for she and Flash became puzzled by what he said about a 'Future King'.
"What he means is that you and Flash are betrothed, intended, and affianced," Cadance said poetically. She sometimes in a moment of excitement would forget that she was dealing with young foals. Especially since Twilight sometimes talked like an adult.
Flash and Twilight looked at each other, even more puzzled.
"In English, Cadance?" Flash asked leaning forward as Cadance and Shining Armor looked at each other in surprise before the latter facehooved himself.
"Married! It means that one day you two will be married!" Shining Armor exclaimed.
But Flash and Twilight still looked confused as both the young mare and stallion groaned.
"To each other!" They explained.
"Yuck! Eew!" Flash and Twilight simultaneously exclaimed in disgust and moved away from each other a bit, the former sticking his tongue out and the latter scrunching her muzzle.
Twilight and Flash definitely didn't like that idea at all. Why would they be married?! They're only friends to each other.
"I can't marry him. He's my friend!" Twilight argued as Cadance and Shining Armor crossed their hooves huffily.
"Yeah, besides it would be so weird," Flash said, agreeing with Twilight. He likes her, but not in that way.
"Well, I'm sorry to say this. But when you two get older, you'll have no choice. It's a tradition going back generations," Cadance said as Twilight mimicked Cadance's last words behind her back, causing Flash to chuckle.
"Well, when I'm the queen of this city, that'll be the first thing to go," Twilight said with a smile and a wink at Flash.
"Not so long as I, the future captain of the guard, am around," Shining Armor pointed out as Twilight strides up to him.
"Oh, well, in that case, you're banished," Twilight said, playfully but Shining Armor just smirked.
"Hmm, nice try, Twily. But only the Current King or Queen can do that," He shot back with a chuckle as he boops Twilight's nose.
"Wait, but Twilight's the future queen, right?" Flash said as he approached them and joins next to Twilight.
"Yeah, so that means you'll have to do what I tell you," Twilight said as she thumped the unicorn on the chest. Now the two youngsters were getting on his nerves.
"Not yet I don't!" Shining Armor argued as he and Twilight pressed their noses together. Only for Cadance to push them apart.
"Whoa, now hold on there. Listen Twilight, I'm afraid with an attitude like that, you'll be shaping up to be a not-so-perfect queen for this kingdom," Cadance commented as Twilight gestured flippantly and she and Flash started walking away while Shining Armor just snorted.
"Oh yeah? Just watch me Cadance. Because I'm not gonna let anypony tell me where to go, what to do, and even who to marry. There will never be a queen like me," Twilight claimed with a smirk as she looked back at Cadance. Shining Armor hearing enough steps forward.
"Twilight, you can't escape your destiny!" Shining Armor argues, narrowing his eyes at her.
"Heh, not the way I see it," Twilight said with a smirk.
When Twilight jumped at the two, the surrounding meadow turned into vibrant colors and took a surrealist and geometric shape as Twilight started singing and backed Cadance and Shining Armor up into a tree trunk, causing the Princess of Love and her coltfriend to get stuck in two of the small holes.
Twilight: I'm gonna be a mighty queen so enemies beware!
Cadance: Well, I've never seen the Queen of the land with quite such boring hair.
Cadance and Shining Armor got themselves unstuck from the holes and then the former plucked one of Twilight's hair with a teasing grin. It just seemed to bring more mischief to the filly.
Twilight: I'm gonna be the mane event like no queen was before.
I'm flying up, I'm looking down.
I'm working on my magical ROAR!
A flock of birds flew away from a purple-leafed bush as Twilight pushed her head through and got a bunch of purple leaves to make it look like she got a bigger mane as she shook it off, flies up to Cadance and Shining Armor, striking an arrogant pose and sent a powerful blast of sound from her voice at their faces, causing Cadance to fly backwards a bit and Shining Armor to fall into a mud puddle.
Shining Armor: Thus be a rather uninspiring scene.
Shining Armor got out of the mud and used what seemed like to be a giant leaf as a towel, as he blows his nose. However, when he looked up, he realized that the 'towel' he was using was the wing of a Dragon looking very annoyed. His apologetic smile only caused the big winged reptile to swat him away with its tail.
Twilight: Oh, I Just Can't-Wait To Be Queen!
Cadance flies after Shining Armor as he screamed and skipped across a nearby river like a rock and Twilight and Flash went gliding across the water after them as a flock of flamingos nearby all flew away.
"You've got a long way to go, young lady if you think…!" Shining Armor said as he walks towards a small riverbank and Twilight and Flash came on each side of the Unicorn Stallion as he pointed a hoof accusingly at Twilight as Cadance lands next to him.
Twilight: Nopony's sayin' "Do This"…
While Twilight was singing, Flash was making a funny face at Shining Armor by sticking his tongue out behind him.
"Now when he said that, he…," Cadance tries to say.
But she was interrupted when she turned to see Flash started singing and Twilight made a funny face of her own by sticking her tongue out and pulling both sides of her cheeks behind her.
Flash: Nopony's sayin' "Be There"...
"What she meant was-," Shining Armor tried to explain this time.
Only to be interrupted again by Twilight again as she started singing and Flash began making a fish face behind him.
Twilight: Nopony saying "Stop That!"...
"Look what you two don't realize…," Cadance said, trying to explain further.
But Flash and Twilight both made funny faces as they ran off and sang in unison…
Twilight and Flash: Nopony's saying "See Here!"...
"Now see here!" Shining Armor shouted until he nearly got run over by Hippogriffs and screamed as Cadance flew out of the way.
Twilight: Free to run and fly around all day.
They then see Twilight and Flash riding on the backs of the two Hippogriffs, one carrying Flash and the other carrying Twilight. Shining Armor got out of the riverbank and ran after them while Cadance flew right behind him as they followed the two young foals.
"Well, that's definitely out," They both said flatly as Cadance flew and Shining Armor ran.
Twilight: Free to do it all my way!
Twilight and Flash ride along on the Hippogriffs. While Shining Armor was doing the best he could to follow them, Cadance was flying through a forest as silhouettes of Twilight and Flash on their Hippogriffs were racing alongside her until she caught up to them and flew ahead, looking back at Twilight and Flash while not paying attention to where she was flying and sang…
Cadance: I think it's time that you and I arranged from heart-to-heart…
But then she ended up flying into a Yak's behind, who was eating some grass until the Alicorn bumped into him.
Twilight: Queens don't need advice from her two foalsitters' for a start.
Twilight, Flash, and their Hippogriffs stopped for a second as the Hippogriffs ducked their heads for the foals to get a direct look at Cadance, and then they ran off in another direction.
Shining Armor caught up as Cadance fell off the Yak and helped her up. The stallion and mare were by this time, both losing their patience.
Shining Armor: If this is where the monarchy is headin'...Count us out!
Cadance: Out of service, out of Equestria, we wouldn't hang about…
Shining Armor and Cadance seem to be moving although they are unaware they are riding on a log all the way down another river and towards the waterfall. By the time they got there, they yelped as they fell. But luckily, Cadance caught Shining Armor and they both flew to catch up with the young duo.
Shining Armor: This foal's behavior just makes you want to scream!
Twilight: Oh, I Just Can't Wait-To Be Queen!
Twilight and Flash trot up a corridor of Zebras standing at attention for them as a spotlight shines on the two foals.
Shining Armor and Cadance attempted to walk through the same crowd to follow the young foals, but the zebras all turned around and raised their tails up at them, causing the Alicorn and Unicorn to crouch down and cover their eyes in fright.
Twilight and Flash started running under some Dragons while doing some dances as well. Cadance was flying above the Dragons and then she flew down below them trying to find Twilight and Flash. Unaware that Twilight is on top of a dragon's head…
Twilight: Everybody look left…
Shining Armor yelps as the other creatures of Equestria trample him while moving to the left.
Twilight: Everybody look right…
Then they trample Shining Armor once again going right.
Twilight: Everywhere you look, I'm…Standing In The Spotlight!
Twilight leaps up on top of each Dragon's head like they were stairs until she slid down one's neck and stands in the center of a spotlight on the dragon's back.
"Not, Yet!" Cadance snapped with an irritated expression as she tried to push a dragon and buffalo out of the way only to fail and get smooshed between them.
Twilight whispers a plan to a Yak, who then whispers to a buffalo, who then whispers to a dragon, who whispers to a Griffon.
Chorus: When every creature goes for broke they know what it means.
Shining Armor is dusting himself off as Cadance helps him to his hooves, only for the two to be grabbed by a pair of griffons and be pulled up into the trees.
The Cragadiles sang and opened their mouths as Parasprites sang too.
Cragadiles and Parasprites: Let's hear it in the herd for all to scream!
Up in the trees, the Griffons were flinging Cadance and Shining Armor from one to another while down below them, Flash and Twilight were being tossed into the air by the Buffaloes singing too.
Buffaloes: It's gonna be Queen Twilight's Greatest Scene!
As Twilight laughs from being flung into the air she passes Shining Armor and Cadance getting their hair done by the griffons. Cadance didn't really seem to mind as the griffons gave her a beautiful mane style.
But Shining Armor on the other hoof wasn't having fun as the griffons were giving him an embarrassing bird's nest hairstyle and one even picked a bug out of it. Cadance merely giggled as Shining Armor grumbled during his worst hairstyling ever.
Twilight and the Chorus: Oh, I Just Cant-Wait To Be Queen! (2x)
Oh, I Just Can't Waaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttt!...
Down below, the creatures were still singing and dancing as the Buffaloes danced like Egyptians around a Yak as Dragons appeared, along with Earth Ponies, Pegasi, and Unicorns, forming a tower, and at the very top of the tower is a Hippogriff as it opens its wings to reveal it carrying Twilight and Flash on his back.
Chorus: …To Be Queeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!
When the last lyrics were sung, the tower was starting to topple and soon everyone began to lose their balance and fell. The Hippogriff, holding Twilight and Flash, fell on top of some Unicorns, two Dragons got their necks tied, and a Bison landed on top of a Unicorn's horn and moos in pain. Leaving Shining Armor to be below the Yak as everybody left and went back to their usual business.
"Um, excuse me, madam, I really hate to bother you but could you please get off Shining Armor?" Cadance asked, flying up to the Yak who was eating some grass.
"Wait! TWILY?! FLASH!" Shining Armor shouted in a muffled voice since the Yak appears to be sitting on him.
Cadance whipped her head around and saw they were gone, "Um, Don't worry Shining Armor! You just stay put while I look for those two," She said before she took off, leaving Shining Armor to groan under the Yak's behind. This definitely was not his day.
Author's Note: Looks like things have certainly went crazy in the 5th chapter of THE ALICORN QUEEN ( Rewritten Edition ).
In this chapter, Twilight was looking for her childhood friend, Flash Sentry. Along the way, she bumped into Cadance and the two shared their secret hoofshake with each other. Not long after, Cadance takes Twilight to the bathing chamber where Flash was taking a bath by Luna while Twilight is given a bath by Celestia, even though Twilight didn't like being given a bath.
After their baths have been taken, Twilight lied to her aunts about her and Flash going to a waterhole in meadows, which Flash finds quite odd at first. Celestia and Luna decided to let them go to the meadows...but on one condition...Cadance and Shining are going with them.
While they were heading for the waterhole with Cadance and Shining Armor, Twilight and Flash whispered to each other about where they're really going and are planning on how they can lose their foalsitters so they can go to the Dragon Graveyard.
Cadance and Shining Armor couldn't but notice that Flash and Twilight are getting along with each other quite well, and that's when they have one thing in their mind. They think Twilight and Flash are in love and soon be betrothed, intended, affianced, which means they will one be marry...to each other.
However, Twilight and Flash were very disgusted at the thought of being married, after all they are still young and are foals. Cadance explained to them that is just part of the tradition that has been going on for generations. Yet, Twilight has some pretty wild ideas for when she becomes queen of the kingdom.
So, breaking into song form, Twilight and Flash were running around trying to lose Cadance and Shining Armor. They even went as far as being on top of a tower made up of different creatures of Equestria. And at the end of the song, the tower began to collaspe and Shining Armor ends up being flattened under a Yak.
And what's worst is that Twilight and Flash have appeared to have disappeared. And we all know where those two foals are on their way now...
