Chapter 8:
Be Prepared!
Back at the Dragon Graveyard, within the misty green caves, the Diamond Dogs were extremely sore after being knocked around by Aurora. Fido and Spot were sitting around on the ground as Fido groaned in pain. He has been zapped by Aurora's magic and has been hurting for a while.
"Man that lousy Aurora, I won't be able to sit for a week," Fido growled as his voice echoed up some tall rocky walls.
Spot grins and laughs in response, causing Fido to grumble with the scorch marks all around his rear. He really doesn't see the humor in this, and doesn't understand how Spot can laugh at everything.
"It's not funny, Spot," Fido said.
Spot tried to contain his laughter but failed and burst with more idiotic laughter. It really didn't make any sense his humor.
"Hey, Shut Up!" Fido snapped.
But Spot couldn't stop laughing which caused Fido to growl and lunge at the small Diamond Dog. Soon, the two started fighting as they began biting and scratching each other. Rover, who was standing on a ledge on top of the two, had just about enough of their nonsense. He sometimes wonders why he is stuck with these morons. And why he puts up with it.
"Will You Two Knock It Off?!" Rover snapped.
The two Diamond Dogs stopped and broke the tussle, with Spot biting his own leg.
"Well, he started it!" Fido argued, pointing at Spot, who is still biting one of his legs.
"Look at you guys. No wonder we're always dangling at the bottom of the Equestrian Society," Rover said, coming down to join them.
"Man, I hate dangling," Fido sneered while drooling.
"Yeah, you know, if it weren't for those Alicorns, we'd be running the joint," Rover said with a scoff as he sat down, glowering.
"Man, I hate Alicorns!" Fido said in disdain.
"So Pushy!" Rover complained walking over to the bigger dog.
"And Feathery!" Fido added.
"Snobby!" Rover added sitting next to Fido.
"And man are they…," Fido started before he and Rover said together and back to back, "Uuuuuuuuuuuggggggllllllyyy!".
Both Diamond Dogs began to laugh hysterically but they flinched with frightened expressions as they heard a faux-pouty voice say, "Oh, surely we Alicorns aren't all that bad,".
The Diamond Dogs looked up in surprise to see Chrysalis smiling and perched up on a small ledge as green mist shot above and cleared away. But that didn't make her entrance any less impressive.
The Diamond Dogs sighed in relief as Fido said sheepishly, "Oh, Chrysalis it's just you,".
"We were afraid it would be somepony important," Rover added.
"Yeah, you know, like Cobalt or Aurora," Fido mentioned.
"Yeah!" Rover agreed as Chrysalis looked down at them frowning.
"I see," Chrysalis said, narrowing her eyes with disdain. But of course, the Diamond Dogs didn't really notice and kept talking.
"Now that's power!" Fido noted, looking at Rover.
"Tell me about it. I just hear those names and I shudder," Rover gripped with a frown as Fido smirked.
"Cobalt and Aurora!" He said in a scary voice, trying to have some fun.
"Oooooh," Rover shuddered, before tapping Fido with his paw, "Do that again,".
"Cobalt and Aurora!" Fido said, causing Rover to shudder again as his ears drooped and his tongue stuck out from his droopy grin.
"CobaltAurora!CobaltAurora!CobaltAurora!" Fido repeats fastly once more, causing Rover to shudder and laugh with his paws on his stomach and Spot falling back, rolling with laughter and holding his stomach. No one noticed Chrysalis's look of disdain.
"Oooh! It tingles me!" Rover snickers as Chrysalis looks down at them, not believing what she was hearing, and came to one conclusion: "I'm surrounded by idiots," She comments with a groan, rolling her eyes and rubbing her temple.
"Not you, Chrysalis. I mean you're one of us. I mean you're our pal," Fido assured her as Rover gnawed on his haunch while Spot scratched with his foot behind his ear.
"Charmed," Chrysalis said, sarcastically. Not exactly pleased to be considered an honorary Diamond Dog. Of course, as with everything else, they did not notice the sarcasm in her voice. They thought she took it as a compliment.
"Oh, I like that. She might not be Queen but she's still so proper," Rover commented at the mare's charismatic nature while raising one of his paws delicately before Fido looked up at her eagerly.
"Yeah! H-Hey! Did you bring us anything to eat, Chryssy old buddy, old pal, huh? Did ya? Did ya?! Did ya?!" Fido asked, excitedly as Chrysalis just scrunches her muzzles and frowns at him.
"I don't really think you deserve this," Chrysalis said as she took out and levitated a Zebra's leg over them.
"I practically gift-wrapped those foals for you. And yet, you couldn't even dispose of them," She comments as The Diamond Dogs each got on their hind legs and drooled with their tongues lolling out, clearly begging for food.
Then without even looking at them, she drops it, as the three dogs happily gorge themselves, with no regard for manners. Spot pulls a piece of skin off before he chews and swallows it, "Well you know, It wasn't exactly like they were alone Chrysalis," Rover mumbles as he chews on the meat.
Fido lifts his head with a piece of Zebra skin sticking from his mouth, "Yeah, what're we supposed to do?" He asked before gulping down the meat in his mouth, before asking rhetorically, "Kill Aurora?".
Chrysalis looks down at him stoically for a moment before she smiles and leans forward with a hoof to her chin, "Precisely, my dears," She confirmed, grinning wickedly.
The Three Diamonds Dogs looked up at her questioningly for Rover looked unsure, Spot in confusion, and Fido just squinted and raised a brow as Chrysalis jumped down from her ledge and then from one rock to another and the Dogs moved out of the way as she slammed her hooves into the ground.
Chorus ( Singing ): Oooh ( x4 )
Chrysalis then started walking calmly as geysers shot green smoke up beside her and she proceeded to sing:
Chrysalis: I know that your powers of retention are as wet as a Dragon's backside
Chrysalis approached Spot slowly, who was still gnawing on the remains of the zebra's leg.
Chrysalis: But as thick as you are…
Pay Attention!
My words are a matter of pride.
Catching the glimpse that Spot is still gnawing on the bone, Chrysalis swiped the bone away from him angrily, causing Spot to jump and immediately give her a salute as the Alicorn proceeded in circling around him.
Chrysalis: It's clear from your vacant expression…
The lights are not all on upstairs…
But we're talking Queens and Successions…
Chrysalis waved her hoof in front of Spot's face as he remained still and serious-looking but then it turned back to his dumb-looking one as he smiles with his tongue stuck out.
Rover and Fido began laughing on the ledge behind Chrysalis as she crouched into a pouncing position while singing.
Chrysalis: Even you can't be caught unawares!
She then surprised the distracted dog duo by slamming her front hooves on their ledge causing them both to fall into two geysers butt-first. After Chrysalis moved aside, as if in perfect time, the geysers erupted and sent Rover and Fido flying.
"Whoa!" Fido yelled as he was shot into the air.
"Wah!" Rover cried as he was fired up next.
Chrysalis: So, prepare for the chance of a lifetime.
Chrysalis then proceeded by jumping to the other side and smoothed her mane down as Fido and Rover fall back down screaming and landed somewhere behind her.
Chrysalis: Be prepared for sensational news…
Then Chrysalis moves on but quickly comes back acting like a model for the camera and continues on.
Chrysalis: A shining new era is tip-toeing nearer.
Chrysalis continues walking through the cave as she starts tip-toeing and heads off.
Rover appeared from a corner and walked up to her, "And when do we feature?" He asked before Chrysalis grabbed his collar with her magic and pulled him to her.
"Just listen to the teacher," Chrysalis replied while squishing his cheeks with her hooves before sauntering away singing as he looked at her in shock.
Chrysalis: I know it sounds sorted, but you'll be rewarded…
When at last I am given my dues.
Rover rubbed his paw over his cheeks with an annoyed look on his face.
Chrysalis then approaches another ledge, where Spot is seen above her, gnawing on the same bone again, gesturing to her chest with her hoof.
Chrysalis: And injustice deliciously squared…
Be Prepared!
Then Chrysalis jumped onto the ledge behind Spot and kicked him away with a single back hoof, the small Diamond Dog yelped as he fell and landed in a pile of bones below.
Fido, Rover, and Spot emerged from the pile of bones with different skulls on their heads. It made them look ridiculous.
"Yeah, be prepared. We'll be prepared…for what?" Fido asked, looking up at Chrysalis with a raised brow.
"For the death of the Queen!" Chrysalis replied.
"Why? Is she sick?" Fido asked again, climbing up to her.
Chrysalis grabbed him by the collar with her magic "No, you fool. We're gonna kill her. And Twilight too," Chrysalis clarified with an evil grin before she let go of Fido, letting the Diamond Dog go and falling to the ground hard.
They were excited but hadn't fully understood what Chrysalis's idea really was.
"Great idea, Chrysalis! Who needs a Queen?" Rover exclaimed.
"No Queen! No Queen! La, la, la, la!" Rover and Fido sang, while Rover and Spot were dancing around Fido, who was sitting on the ground clapping his paws, annoying Chrysalis greatly.
"IDIOTS! There will still be a QUEEN!" Chrysalis snapped.
"Hey, but you said, uh…," Fido tried to say, lifting a paw questioningly but Chrysalis continued.
"I will be your Queen! Stand with me! And not only will you have all the gems your hearts desire but you'll never go hungry again!" Chrysalis elaborated yellow pillars of light shine on the walls behind her.
"Yeah! Alright! Long Live The Queen!" Rover and Fido cheered with joy, while Spot just looked at them with joy.
Ranks upon ranks, more Diamond Dogs appeared sitting among the walls of the cave as the left and right were illuminated in yellow light behind Rover, Fido, and Spot and chanted, "LONG LIVE THE QUEEN! LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!".
The Diamond Dog Army began marching like an army getting ready for war as they turned their attention to Chrysalis, who is observing them from a ledge above while singing:
Diamond Dog Army: It's great that we'll soon be connected…
With a Queen who'll be all-time adored.
Chrysalis: Of course qui pro quo.
You're expected to take certain duties on board.
The future is littered with prizes and though I'm the main addressee.
Chrysalis watched as all the Diamond Dogs kept on goose-stepping and turning their attention to her as they walked, she lifted one and moved a hoof over her neck as if to say what would happen if they didn't follow her orders before gesturing to herself with a hoof.
Chrysalis: The Point that I must emphasize is…
You Won't Get A Sniff Without Me!
Chrysalis then jumped off the ledge again and landed among the Diamond Dogs in front of one, as the lighting changes to red and Chrysalis advances towards a lone Diamond Dog causing him to back up away from her in terror as the ground begins to crack beneath and the Diamond Dog falls in between them, screaming.
Chrysalis and Diamond Dogs: So be prepared for the coup of the century!
Chrysalis: Be Prepared! For the murkiest scam!
Diamond Dogs: Ooh-la-la-la!
Geysers begin to erupt, causing pillars of rock to rise into the air as Chrysalis jumps onto one. Then Chrysalis jumped onto another rock pillar as it began rising with two Diamond Dogs on another howling and three more shaking their tails in the air.
Chrysalis: Meticulous Planning...
Diamond Dogs: We'll Have Food!
Chrysalis: Tenacity Spanning...
Diamond Dogs: Lots Of Food!
Chrysalis: Decades Of Denial...
Diamond Dogs: We repeat!
Chrysalis: Is simply why I'll…
Diamond Dog: Endless Meat!
Chrysalis stands on her rock pillar as it shoots into the air as she passes a few Diamond Dogs dancing and singing as the rock pillar keeps growing higher. Some Diamond Dogs were falling from the rocks that were moved by all the shaking while others were standing on either rock pillars or ledges.
Chrysalis: Be Queen undisputed, respected, saluted.
And seen for the wonder I am!
Yes, my teeth and ambitions are bared!
Chrysalis and the Diamond Dogs: Be Prepared!
As the last lyrics were sung, Chrysalis gestures to herself with one hoof and two shadowy skeletons of Deer were seen dancing around but it was revealed to be two Diamond Dogs playing and shaking skeletons around.
The Diamond Dogs began jumping from pillar to pillar, dancing and singing as the shaking continued and one Diamond Dog played on some bones like they were a Xylophone.
Rover, Fido, and Spot appeared through the smoke baring their teeth and grinning evilly.
Chrysalis and Diamond Dogs: Yes, our teeth and ambitions are bared.
BE PREPARED!
After that, Chrysalis stands on top of the rock formation, which is silhouetted against the moon, and laughs evilly while the Diamond Dogs gather on the ledges below her and give out terrifying cackles that echo throughout the graveyard as the red light of the geysers died down.
Proof that tomorrow would be the herald of a truly dark age for Equestria.
With her plan set in stone for both herself and the Diamond Dogs, Chrysalis will finally not only be rid of her sister but also her niece, Twilight Sparkle…
Author's Note: Now you have to admit, this chapter is both scary and very insane and, if I might add, evil.
After their encounter with Aurora, Fido, Spot, and Rover were in their cave sore and overwhelmed by Aurora's magic. Especially when Spot began laughing at Fido's scorch marks on his hindquarters, which the bigger Diamond Dog doesn't find funny. The worst of it is that Rover and Fido have made a few insulting remarks towards their hatred at Alicorns, including how Alicorns are so pushy, feathery, stinky, and uuuuuugggggglllllly.
But that's when their boss came into scene...Chrysalis.
Chrysalis wasn't very pleased with how much progress the Diamond Dogs made when they tried to attack Twilight and Flash and how they often don't takes things a bit seriously. Even though they failed, Chrysalis offered them something to eat even though she thinks they don't really deserve it.
Rover told Chrysalis that the foals weren't exactly alone for Aurora was there to stop them and Fido asked Chrysalis if they were suppose to kill Aurora.
That's when Chrysalis began singing about wanting to become Queen and take the throne to the Diamond Dogs. She even told them that she had a brand-new evil plan to overthrow Aurora and Twilight...by killing them.
And to make things even scarier, meaner, and more evil, Chrysalis told them that there will still be a queen and promised the Diamond Dogs that they will have all the gems they desire and all the food they can eat. So gathering her army of Diamond Dogs, Chrysalis has finally got the Diamond Dogs prepared, for starting the next day, the Dark Age For Equestria will soon begin.
All they have to do is kill Aurora and her daughter, Twilight Sparkle.
