Chapter 15:
Can You Feel The Love Tonight?
After the Mane 5 and Cadance were gone, Flash sighed, "I gotta admit, Twilight. You're very lucky to have those girls as your friends," He said reassuringly to Twilight. He only just met the girls, but he could tell Twilight had a special bond with them.
But when Flash turned to Twilight, he saw that the Alicorn Princess has her head bowed down in sadness, making the stallion concerned for his childhood friend. What could possibly be wrong? Well like any good friend, he wants to try and help.
"Hey, What's wrong?" Flash asked, heading over to her as Twilight turned her head away from him.
Twilight remained silent for a moment, but then she spoke, "You and Cadance thought I was dead for so long, and I thought you forgot about me. I didn't even think about how much you two and everypony back home were suffering and hurting because of my absence. Or that you still cared about me," Twilight said quietly, looking at Flash and then back down with a hurt expression on her face. It was obvious that the news has shook her up.
"Hey, it's okay," Flash assured her, trying to comfort the princess.
Twilight smiled lightly as she turned to him.
"I really missed you, Flash," Twilight said softly, rubbing her head underneath Flash's chin, catching him by surprise by her boldness for a moment. This was a show of her deep affection. And even as Twilight was doing it, she was afraid she had gone too far.
But to her surprise, Flash reciprocated and returned the embrace, "I've missed you too, Twilight," He replied with a smile.
The two adult Alicorns were now rubbing their heads together as their horns crossed each other.
However, Twilight and Flash were unaware that Cadance, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie, and Rainbow Dash hadn't left them alone. The 6 were just watching them nuzzle in the nearby bushes and trees. Rainbow Dash was disgusted by this, but Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Pinkie didn't seem bothered by this at all. In fact, they were glad Twilight seemed to have a special somepony. And Cadance just seemed so happy.
"Look at those two love Alicorns. They are perfect for each other," Rarity said, moving a leaf out of her way with her magic.
"Eee-eyup, they're like two apples growing on the same branch and never being apart," Applejack agreed, following Rarity's example by moving the leaves with her hoof.
"Our little Twily really has grown up, hasn't she?" Fluttershy said, looking at the two Alicorns with a happy and proud smile while moving some branches out of her view. Though they were the same age, Fluttershy was the most motherly type of the group.
"I always knew those two were made for each other," Cadance said warmly, moving some bushes as she remembered what they had said as foals, and couldn't help but smile.
Rainbow Dash, however, scoffed and said as she swatted the branches away and rested her head on her hooves grumpily, "Please? If you ask me, this whole thing stinks,".
"Um, I don't think it was me. I just took a bath today," Pinkie Pie said, emerging from behind the leaves and thinking Rainbow Dash was referring to her.
"I wasn't talking about you, Pinkie. I'm talking about THEM!" Rainbow Dash replies in frustration as she points Pinkie and the others to Twilight and Flash, who are now walking away, striding through the forests.
"Him! Her! Alone!" Rainbow Dash said in disgust, watching the two Alicorns walking away, while clasping her hooves sarcastically.
"Yes and it's quite beautiful," Cadance said, not seeing what Rainbow was saying. She then made a cheeky smile before standing up and sneaking away, "But I think I need a closer look," She said before she disappeared in the underbrush, but the Mane 5 paid her no mind. She loved romantic situations, and giving a little helping hoof.
"Ah don't get it, Rainbow. What's wrong with Twilight being in love?" Applejack asked in confusion.
"I think it's very romantic," Rarity added, watching Twilight and Flash striding off with a smile on her face.
That's when Rainbow Dash started to sing with her arms crossed…
Rainbow Dash: I can see what's happening…
Pinkie Pie { Speaking }: See what, Rainbow?
Rainbow Dash: And their naivety is rising high…
Fluttershy { Speaking }: Who?
Rainbow Dash: They'll fall in love and here's the bottom line…
Our team goes down to five.
Applejack { Speaking }: Oh.
Rarity proceeded in singing in disagreement while doing it in a french-accent and gesturing dramatically, trying to assure her friend that love isn't a bad thing…
Rarity: But ze sweet caress of Twilight…
There's magic everywhere…
And…
Rainbow Dash { Singing While Interrupting }: With all this romantic atmosphere…
Disasters In The AIR!
Rainbow flies down from the branch and flies over her friends dramatically while leaning on one of her hooves grumpily. Then she gestures next to herself as the others followed.
While the sun was setting in the forest, Flash and Twilight headed to a magnificent waterfall as they headed down a ridge and walked in front of it on top of some rocks. And a female singer is heard in the background…
Female Singer: Can You Feel The Love Tonight?
The peace the evening brings…
The world for once, in perfect harmony…
With all it's living things.
Twilight and Flash paused and exchanged loving glances at each other. Then they walked underneath the waterfall as they continually paused and gazed at each other.
After walking around each other and taking in each other's movements, Twilight and Flash headed to a pond and stopped for a drink. Flash and Twilight then started thinking about each other as they started drinking…
Twilight: So many things to tell him…
But how to make him see?
The truth about my past…
Impossible!
He'd turn away from me.
Flash pauses from drinking and looks up at Twilight smiling before resuming drinking.
While Flash continued drinking, Twilight stopped drinking and looked away in shame as her inner demons haunted her. Flash stopped drinking and looked up at Twilight in confusion because he was having a mixture of emotions, including realizing that he had feelings for her. But he also noticed Twilight had a mischievous smile on her face.
Flash: She's holding back, she's hiding…
But what I can't decide…
Why won't she be the Queen I know she is?
The Queen I see inside…
Twilight then ran away and behind Flash, as he turned to her in confusion. But then Twilight runs back towards him with a vine in her mouth and goes splashing in the middle of the pond as a chorus begins to sing…
Chorus: Can You Feel The Love Tonight?
The peace the evening brings.
Looking out over the still water, Flash tries to see where Twilight disappeared. He was scared for her safety when she suddenly lunged up under him and wrapped her hooves around him as she pulled Flash into the water.
After a moment, Flash immediately resurfaced, gasping for breath, and crawled back onto the ledge all dripping, shivering, scared out of his mind, and miffed all at the same time. Twilight came out of the pond, soaking wet, and approached Flash with a big goofy smile and her mane covering her face. Flash smirked and playfully pushed her back into the water as he runs off.
Twilight leaped back out of the water and chased after him in pursuit.
Chorus: The world for once, in perfect harmony.
With all its living things.
Twilight and Flash were then seen running across a field as small white birds flew out of the way. It was getting close to evening, but it seemed like all they could think of was each other. Soon, the two ponies jumped onto their hind legs and started playing around with each other like they did as foals, as they hugged and then tripped as they tumbled down a hill.
Chorus: Can You Feel The Love Tonight?
You needn't look too far.
After tumbling down the hill, Flash and Twilight landed in the grass as butterflies came out and fluttered around the two love ponies. Flash and Twilight laughed as they watched the butterflies frolic all around them and Twilight pinned Flash for the first time in her life. Then as they sat back up, and Flash was still recovering from the dizziness, Twilight gave Flash a little kiss on the cheek, surprising the stallion as he looked at her.
Twilight looked at Flash with a smile, that was far from the one a best friend would give to another. Flash's expression changed from surprise to a comprehending one as he understood what Twilight was feeling and he returned it.
Cadance, who was hiding in the branches of a tree, had a big toothy smile, clapping her hooves in anticipation. She may have helped a tiny bit with her love magic, but not much. She just loved seeing young couples being in love.
Chorus: Stealing through the night's uncertainties.
Love is where they are.
As the last lyrics were sung, Twilight and Flash went up to a hilltop and lay down next to each other as Twilight rested on Flash's shoulder and the two ponies looked at each other lovingly. Back when they were foals they were absolutely disgusted by the idea of being betrothed and one day being married, only seeing each other as friends.
But now, after being reunited after so long, the thought of being married and spending the rest of their lives together sounded absolutely wonderful.
Twilight and Flash leaned in closer to each other and then at that moment, the two gave a kiss. Cadance, who was still watching, smiled warmly at the two, while cleaning tears out of her eyes, feeling so happy for them right now.
From a safe distance, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie, Fluttershy, and Applejack were being tearful from the moment as well, but not in a good way.
Fluttershy then began to sing with tears in her eyes…
Fluttershy: And if she falls…
Rarity: …In love tonight…
Pinkie Pie: {Sniffling Sadly}.
Rainbow Dash: It can be assumed…
Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Rarity hugged Pinkie and Applejack tearfully, unable to accept the harsh and ugly truth, but had to as Applejack and Pinkie patted them consolingly and sang with Pinkie's voice breaking with sadness.
Pinkie Pie: Her carefree days with us…
Applejack: …Are history…
All Five Ponies: In short our girl is doooooooooooooooooooooomed…
While singing the last lyrics together, all of the Mane 5 each raised their arms into the air.
Briefly looking at each other with tears in their eyes, the Mane 5 immediately burst out into loud tears, crying into the night. Now knowing they have lost Twilight, now that she and Flash had fallen in love and would probably go off somewhere to start a family. They wondered how things could get any worse.
Author's Note: You have got to admit, romance is such a beautiful thing in this chapter.
Twilight was a bit shook and saddened about how much her home was suffering because of her absence at first, but with Flash assuring her, well that led to Flash and Twilight nuzzling each other, since they've missed each other over the years.
While Twilight and Flash were nuzzling each other, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie were watching them, feeling really proud that their best friend has found a special somepony. But not Rainbow Dash, she was feeling rather disgusted that Flash and Twilight falling in love is interfering with their friendship.
At sunset, Twilight and Flash were enjoying some time they have with each other, especially when they are slowly falling in love with each other. As night arrives, the two love Alicorns began playing around with each other until they tripped and roll down a hill. After landing in the soft grass, Twilight gave Flash a little kiss on the cheek, which surprised the stallion at first, but then Flash just smiles with comprehension.
And to bring this to a close, Twilight and Flash looked at each other lovingly, thinking about being betrothed and married to each other, until at that very moment, the two exchanged a romantic kiss.
While Cadance, who has been keeping an eye on them to make sure things don't go wrong, was feeling happy for them, The Mane 5 were being tearful and saddened about losing Twilight now that she and Flash have fallen in love.
This could very well be the end of Twilight's carefree days with her friends...Or is it?
