Chapter 17:
Responsibility
Minutes later, Twilight and Flash were now walking together as the night approached and the sun was now a purple hue and Cadance had joined them shortly after. For the first time in her life since she has been living away from her past, Twilight has reunited with Flash, her best friend, who is now her lover, and Cadance, her big sister figure. While they were walking together, Twilight spoke, "Isn't this a great place, Flash?".
"It sure is a wonderful valley, Twilight. But there's something we still don't understand. If you've been alive all this time, why didn't you come back to The Castle Of Harmony?" Flash asked.
"Well, I just needed to get out on my own. Live my own life and when I did, it was great," Twilight said as she climbed up on a hammock of hanging vines.
"We really needed you at home," Cadance stated.
"Nopony needs me," Twilight said quietly.
"Yes, we do, Twilight! You're the Queen," Flash argued.
"Guys, we've been over this. I'm not the Queen, Chrysalis is," Twilight reminded them.
"Twilight, she let the Diamond Dogs take over The City," Cadance said in a serious tone.
"What?!" Twilight asked in shock, hoping she misheard.
"Everything's destroyed. There's no food, no water, barely any gems for us to trade with other kingdoms, our people have been turned into slaves," Flash explained looking down in sorrow.
"I even heard rumors that Chrysalis was planning on invading the other kingdoms soon!" Cadance added also looking down in sorrow.
"Twilight if you don't do something soon, everypony will starve and be worked to death and our world will be at war!" Flash said.
"I can't go back," Twilight said sadly as she got off her hammock and walked off.
"Why not, Twilight?" Flash asked.
"You two wouldn't understand," Twilight replied.
"What wouldn't we understand?!" Cadance retorted.
"No, no, no. Look, it doesn't matter, Hakuna Matata," Twilight said hastily while trying to walk away from the two.
"Wait, what?" Flash and Cadance asked, both raising a brow in confusion.
"Hakuna Matata. It's something I learned out here. Look, sometimes bad things happen…," Twilight tried to explain.
"Twilight!" Flash interrupted.
"...And there's nothing you could do about it. So why worry?" Twilight continued explaining as she begins walking down the tree trunk in irritation as Flash and Cadance looked at her in disbelief.
"Why worry? Twilight because it is your responsibility!" Cadance answered, as she and Flash started trotting after her.
Twilight stopped in her tracks and turned to her and Flash, "Oh, yeah? Well, what about you two? You left?!" She challenged.
"We left to find help! And we found you. Don't you understand, Twilight? You're Equestria's only hope," Flash replied through desperation.
"Sorry," Twilight said stubbornly and now being more irritated.
"What's happened to you? You're not the Twilight we remembered," Cadance comments, scrunching her face in disappointment.
"You're right. I'm not and I never will be. Now, are you two satisfied?" Twilight asked sarcastically.
"No, Twilight. We're disappointed," Flash replied angrily.
"You know? Now you two are starting to sound like my mom and dad," Twilight said as she angrily started walking away again irritated.
"Well, good. I'm glad that at least some of us are," Flash snarks.
Twilight suddenly stopped because Flash had deeply struck a nerve with that comment. How dare he talk about her parents like that? So having about enough, Twilight turned around and headed to Flash and Cadance, snapping at them angrily.
"Listen, you think you two would show up and tell me how to live my life? You have no idea what I've been through!" Twilight yelled as tears built up in her eyes, as she begins to fly off away from them.
"Twilight, we would if you could just tell us," Cadance replied desperately, reaching out to Twilight.
"Forget it!" Twilight snapped as she flew off.
"Fine!" Flash snapped back as he looked away in anger and Cadance looks at him in worry before sighing.
