Chapter 23:

The Final Battle

While her friends and family handled the Diamond Dogs, Twilight separates herself from the fight to find Chrysalis. As she turned, in front of her view, something was moving in the shadows until lightning flashed, revealing Chrysalis trying to flee like the coward she was.

Seeing the Alicorn who took away her parents, Twilight, with her blood boiling, charges towards her as Chrysalis makes a run for it with the angry and revenge-thirsty Princess right on her tail. Chrysalis ran up to the top of the castle as she jumped over a wall of flames and ran towards the highest tower.

But as she reached the top, Chrysalis could see that all there was is a sheer drop where the flames below were dancing. As she turns around, Twilight jumps over the flames with a magic shield and deactivates it as she approaches her traitorous aunt with fury and hate in her narrowed eyes.

"Murderer," Twilight whispered in a deadly tone, the light, and shadows from the fiery flames making her even more intimidating.

"Twilight, Twilight, please. Please have mercy I beg you," Chrysalis pleaded, as smiled nervously at her niece with her tail literally between her legs.

"You don't have the right to live," Twilight said as she approached Chrysalis, her glare unrelenting.

"But...Twilight, I am...uh...family." Chrysalis feebly tries to convince her as she comes up with another Idea, "It's the Diamond Dogs, those revolting mutts are the real enemy. It was their fault and their idea,".

While Chrysalis was talking as Twilight approached her, they were unaware that Rover, Fido, and Spot were on the other side of the flames and overheard what Chrysalis said. The three Diamond Dogs were shocked by Chrysalis's attempt to blame them and backed up growling furiously at the Alicorns' betrayal.

"Why should I even believe you, Chrysalis? Everything you ever told me was nothing but a lie," Twilight sneered as she got directly in front of Chrysalis, who cowers down as she sees her niece charging her horn with strong magic.

"And from what I can see, you fooled the Diamond Dogs, just like you fooled me and everyone else!" Twilight said.

"What are you going to do? You wouldn't kill your own aunt, would you?" Chrysalis asked, sweating with fear, thinking that Twilight might actually kill her as justice for everything she did.

Twilight just kept glaring at her as her horn glowed intensely before she sighed, and the glow died down, "No, Chrysalis...," She answered, as she continued looking down at the surprised black mare, "I'm not like you," Twilight explained. Even after everything Chrysalis did to her, her parents, her home, her friends, and her people, Twilight would never sink to her aunt's low.

Chrysalis let out a breath of relief, "Oh, Twilight, thank you. You are truly as noble as your parents. And I will make it up to you, I promise," Chrysalis promised as she stood back up smiling as Twilight continued glaring at her, "Just tell me how can I prove myself to you, Tell me what you want and it's yours,".

Twilight looked at Chrysalis in deep anger and hate, "Run...Run away, Chrysalis. Run away and never return to our home," Twilight hissed out gravely and venomously.

Chrysalis's face turned stunned as she remembered those are the same words that she told Twilight when she was cast out as a filly. And now she was on the receiving end of those words.

"Yes, of course. As you wish…," Chrysalis said slowly as she walked past Twilight, who was watching her every move like a hawk and the older mare noticed a pile of burning coal. "...Your MAJESTY!" Chrysalis screeched as she flung the ashes at Twilight.

Twilight screamed in pain as the hot dust landed on her snout and may have gotten in her eye. And just as Twilight wiped the coal off of herself, Chrysalis charged and rammed her onto the ground. Getting up, Twilight quickly shielded herself as Chrysalis tries to shoot dark magic at her. Soon the two Alicorns fought each other as they tussled around and Chrysalis managed to pin Twilight and tries to shoot her with dark magic again.

Quickly, Twilight managed to shield herself again from Chrysalis's magic and before she could do it again, the young Alicorn sends a beam of magic at the evil Alicorn, pushing her back away from her. Twilight got up quickly and then charges at Chrysalis. "You can't win Chrysalis!" Twilight yelled as her horn glowed brightly.

"This is MY kingdom! MY DESTINY!" Chrysalis roared back, her horn crackling with magic.

The mare lunges at her niece as Twilight shot her magic at her to push her back a little.

As the two Alicorns raised up on their hind legs, Chrysalis powered her left hoof with her magic and slammed it onto Twilight's right shoulder, which made her wince and yelled in pain.

Chrysalis then pushed Twilight back a little and nearly slashed her with her magic.

But then Twilight flew up into the air as her eyes glowed white and sent a beam of magic right at Chrysalis's face causing her to scream in pain. But Chrysalis struck back and sent a beam of magic at Twilight as she screamed in pain as well. Chrysalis then struck her again and this time sent Twilight to the very edge of the tower on her back.

Twilight looks up and sees Chrysalis jumping right towards her roaring ferociously while charging her horn with dark magic. But gathering up her courage, Twilight uses Chrysalis's momentum in a throw similar to Flash's flip move and sends Chrysalis over the edge of the balcony. Chrysalis falls until she finally lands on the ground with a loud thump as Twilight looked down at her unconscious defeated aunt.

Getting up weakly, Chrysalis sees Rover, Fido, and Spot approaching her with hatred, betrayal, and anger written all over their faces.

"Oh, my friends," Chrysalis said with relief, smiling at the trio, unaware of their anger.

"Friends? I thought she said we 'revolting mutts' were the enemy?" Rover scoffed with an evil grin as he looks at Fido.

"Yeah, that's what I heard," Fido replied as Chrysalis looked on with horror as she realized they must have overheard her lie to Twilight.

"Spot?" Rover and Fido asked, gazing towards the third Diamond Dog.

Spot replied with an evil grin and gave a laugh, sounding much more sinister than his old one, as more and more Diamond Dogs began to come forward and they all lurk towards the false Alicorn Queen, looking hungry.

Chrysalis, immediately seeing her army had turned against her, tried to reason with them, "No. L-L-L-Le-Le-Le-Let Me Explain. No, you don't understand. No! I didn't mean for…No! No! Look, I'm sorry I called you…No!... AAAHHH!".

The Diamond Dogs didn't listen to her pleas as they begin to close in on their former queen and on the wall behind them a shadow of Chrysalis was seen as the Dogs pounced on her and devoured her! Bringing an end to Chrysalis's reign of tyranny for good.
