Chapter 17 A blast from the Past

"So let me get this straight while we were gone Luthor was held hostage by Brainiac who wanted him to build a new body and ship and you foiled that. And...Found your old dog?" Sean asked as they were at the fortress with said dog rubbing up against Korra making her smile as she petted him.

"Yeah. Nice Mask by the way." Superman said seeing it on his side.

"It was my old man's back in the day. Still surprised he was one of them." Sean said.

"So what other weapons do you have beside that and that cannon on your shoulder?" Superman asked seeing it.

"A few weapons like my wrist blades and the smart disk. My favorite however." Sean said pulling out a two bladed weapon. "Is the Glaive." Sean said. (I loved that weapon in Predator Concrete Jungle when I was a kid playing the shit out of it every day. Especially the final upgraded version)

"I see." Superman said.

"So anything else interesting happen while we were gone?" Korra asked.

"I offered my old ship to Hamilton to study. Might wanna check it out." Superman said.

Later

Arriving at Star Labs they found Hamilton working on Superman's old ship.

"What are you doing?" Beowulf asked.

"I found this hidden compartment. I don't know how I missed it." Hamiltion said before it opened up making him fall back as they caught him.

"Easy now." Sage said as she looked inside. "What the hell is this?" Sage asked pulling out some device.

"The hell is that?" Beowulf asked as she sat it down before looking into some red sensor. "The hell?" Beowulf asked seeing people and monsters floating.

"It's the Phantom zone. Believe it or not you're looking into an alternative dimension." Superman said.

"So this is what? Some kind of prison?" Beowulf asked looking into it.

"Something like that. I saw this in brainiac's orb when he attacked the first time." Superman said.

"So why was it in here?" Sage asked.

"My father must have put it in there for safety reasons." Superman said as Hamilton took a closer look.

"Amazing. I do wish the image were clearer." Hamilton said messing with it.

Thats when a beam shot out and freed one of the beasts inside.

"Uh oh." Sage said as it flew off.

Beowulf grew his wings before flying up to catch it.

"COME HERE!" Beowulf yelled as it roared in pain before it came crashing back down hard as Sage blasted it with the Phantom projector sending it back.

"Lets put this away before we unleash something that could be even worse than that." Sage said.

"Help me! Please! Release me!" A woman yelled out.

"Huh?" Beowulf asked looking inside seeing a woman.

"I served my sentence. Where is the council?"

"Who are you?" Beowulf asked.

"I am Mala. Former Commander of Krypton's military." Mala said making him blink.

"I thought you said you were the last?" Beowulf asked Superman.

"There must be some still in there. But clearly for a good reason." Superman said.

"See if you can learn something from that orb." Sage said as he flew off.

"Where is the council?" Mala asked.

"Uh...Mala...I hate to be the bringer of bad and sad news...But." Beowulf tried to say.

"What? What is it?" Mala asked as he sighed.

"Krypton's gone. You can thank that AI Brainiac for that." Beowulf said.

"Gone? How?" Mala asked.

"From What Kal told us the planet's core was becoming unstable. His father knew this but the council wouldn't listen. And Brainiac falsified his data on that subject to make them believe everything was fine when it wasn't. Jor-El found out Brainiac was saving himself to preserve his knowledge rather than save the planet." Beowulf said.

"I always knew that machine would turn on us one day!" Mala yelled enraged.

"So why are you in there?" Sage asked.

"I was only following orders. Jax-Ur believed that the council was making us weak. I agreed since they kept lowering military funding." Mala said.

"Theres something I can understand. The first signs of that means people want less military and more spending on other things. Ideals like that lead to bigger problems later when a real enemy shows up and you have nothing to fight them with because of actions like those." Beowulf said knowing that was true. "So I take it you two and the military tried to overthrow the council but failed." Beowulf said.

"Jor-El found out about our plans and foiled us. Though honestly I was rather glad since after we did hold control...I saw something in his eyes. I realized I made a mistake. The council banished both of us but I was only supposed to stay here for 20 years." Mala said.

"And it's been way over that." Beowulf said as Superman came back.

"I read her history. I'm gonna let her out." Superman said.

Arriving outside they set everything up.

"All right Mala hang on." Beowulf said as they fired it up as she appeared before them. Male had Long white hair in a pony tail with blue eyes and white skin. She also had very large breasts a muscled body and heart shaped ass.

"Ugh." Mala said as Beowulf picked her up. "Who are you?" Mala asked.

"I'm called Beowulf. One of the best heroes on Earth along with them." Beowulf said looking at Sage and Superman. "Superman is Kal-El's son. You and him are the only survivors." Beowulf said making her sigh.

"I just can't believe it's all gone. Curse that Brainiac. The one thing Jax-Ur and Jor-El both agreed on is that the council shouldn't put their full faith in him. And they were right." Mala said.

"Why don't we go somewhere more remote." Sage said.

"Good idea." Superman said as Beowulf grew his wings before flying away with Mala along with Superman and Sage.

"People on Earth can fly?" Mala asked.

"Not exactly. Only enhanced people do. Superman can as well since yellow sun has a unique effect on your kind." Beowulf said.

"Really? Tell me more." Mala said interested.

Later

Arriving at his family's old destroyed estate they helped Mala control her new powers.

"Why does this place feel so...Sad?" Mala asked having felt a great sorrow here for some reason.

"You felt it huh?" Superman asked.

"I'm no stranger to mystical feelings since Krypton had them on several occasions. What is wrong with this place?" Mala asked.

"This used to be Beowulf's home 200 years ago." Superman said.

"He doesn't look or sound that old." Mala said.

"He's not. It's complicated. Short version being he was taken out of time and made into what he is now." Superman said.

"Oh. So what happened here?" Mala asked.

"Well...His uncle slaughtered his entire family when was just born. Killed his father in a moment of weakness then killed his siblings and his mother. He never knew about them till 3 years ago." Superman said shocking her.

"I assume he was angry about this?" Mala asked.

"Very. Crain's spirit haunted the place and kept his siblings from passing on. Managed to use an old gateway to hell to imprison him. Letting his siblings pass on. But I don't think he ever got over that to be honest. After it was over he destroyed the place. Ending that chapter of his old life." Superman said before getting an alert from Hamilton. "I'll be right back." Superman said flying off as she looked seeing Beowulf upstairs.

Beowulf walked around the remains of his old home that was still standing before coming to an old room that was meant for him.

"I always wondered why you seemed sad." Mala said walking in.

"I take it Kal told you my messed up uncle did all this?" Beowulf asked.

"Not the first time I've heard of someone killing their siblings family. Even on Krypton nothing was perfect." Mala said.

"My dad was one of the most influential people on Earth in his time. And one of the strongest. According to my Grandfather and his siblings...He and my uncle were really close one time but that darkness inside him made it difficult. He just snapped one day." Beowulf said before she walked to him and slowly pulled down his hood and mask showing his face.

"And yet it made you who you are today. Some of the greatest legends in the universe have gone through suffering like yours. It made them legends today. And inspired you to be a hero for everyone. Even loss like yours...Leads to good things for others." Mala said making him smile lightly.

"Yeah." Beowulf said.

"I didn't get your real name." Mala said.

"Sean Noah Ashburn Kruger." Sean said before an alert came up. "What?" Sean said.

"It's Jax-Ur. He's escaped from the Phantom zone." Superman said shocking Mala.

"WHAT! How?" Mala yelled.

"One of the scientists at Star Labs accidentally let him out." Superman said.

"We'll be right there." Beowulf said before putting his father's mask on.

"Where did you get a Yautja mask?" Mala asked.

"You mean a Hunter Mask? My father was one of them a long time ago. I killed one a short while ago and they recognized who I was and gave me his old equipment. Let's discuss this later." Beowulf said as they left.

Later

Jax-Ur and Superman fought one another with the other having the upper hand since he had more experience in combat and military training.

"Personally I would be much more open to fighting your father so I may crush his neck." Jax-Ur mocked.

"Funny how a simple scientist foiled you when were so close to your goal." Superman mocked back making him roar blasting him with heat vision.

Only for a plasma blast to hit him making him roar in pain.

"A Hunter! Show yourself you coward!" Jax-ur yelled.

"Wow. you seriously have a mouth on you." Beowulf said amused.

"Your no Hunter!" Jax-Ur yelled.

"No shit." Beowulf said appearing after uncloaking himself.

"A mere human. HA! This will be easy." Jax-Ur said charging at him.

Only for Beowulf to smack him back into a car.

"Clearly you underestimate your opponents before knowing them. No wonder Jor-El beat you so easily." Beowulf said making him roar blasting him with heat vision but he didn't even look phased which shocked him. "Normally I don't use my powers but in your case I'll make an exception." Beowulf said as his wings appeared.

Jax-Ur tried to fly away but a whip wrapped around his leg making him look seeing Beowulf with one made by the Hunter's before giving a vicious pull cutting his leg apart.

"AHHHHH!" Jax-Ur screamed as he crashed down as Mala landed with Sage. "Mala! Destroy him! We can conquer this world and remake it in our image!" Jax-Ur yelled.

"No. I like this planet the way it is. Besides, I'd prefer following him since he's less likely to stab me in the back like you would after thinking I'm no longer of use." Mala said making him glare.

Thats when Beowulf's wrist blades came out making him back up in fear.

"Please! Spar my life! I'm worth more alive!" Jax-Ur begged.

"Somehow I doubt that. And your too dangerous to keep alive. Normally I only kill when I have to. But in your case...Your just too dangerous even if you were contained." Beowulf said stabbing his blades into his neck making him scream as Beowulf pulled and took his head and spine out.

"That was satisfying." Mala said making him roll his eyes as they left.

However unknown to them was a hunter was watching from a distance seeing the whole thing.

"Interesting."

Later

Sean placed Jax-Ur's skull that was cleaned up on a display right next to the City Hunter's skull at the Wolf Pack base.

"You're not gonna start up a huge collection of these are you?" Turok asked.

"Nah. This was more to make a point that if any other Kryptonians survived and follow those ideals...This is what awaits them." Sean said.

"Hmm. So whats gonna happen to Mala?" Turok asked.

"I offered her a place with the Wolf Pack. She seemed eager to join." Sean said before an alert came up. "Now what?" Sean asked.

"We got incoming right outside the base!" Lane yelled on the comms.

Outside something crashed down hard.

Beowulf and Mala were the first to rush out seeing some space ship had crashed down.

"Be on guard. Who knows what could be in there." Mala said as he approached it before seeing two women inside. Both had orange skin and one had long red hair while the other had long black hair as he opened it up as steam came out of the door.

Thats when they opened their eyes.

The red head had green eyes and the black haired one had dark violet eyes. Both hard large breasts and bubble butts and muscles on them.

Looking at him seeing him the first started speaking in a language he was unfamiliar with.

"I don't suppose english would suffice?" Beowulf asked as the the second one pulled down his mask and kissed him making him widen his eyes while the red head did the same making Mala giggle.

"Do you understand us now?" The redhead asked.

"Eh?" Beowulf asked.

"Tamaraneans. They learn new languages through a kiss. Strange but there are stranger species." Mala said knowing their kind.

"I believe perhaps introductions are best. I am Starfire and this is my sister Blackfire." Starfire said.

"Beowulf. This is Mala. What are you two doing here?" Beowulf asked.

"Escaping from the Gordanians." Blackfire said.

"Oh I heard about these people. Conquerers who try to conquer the galaxy." Mala said.

"Are they close?" Beowulf asked.

"Not their way on the other end of the galaxy From here." Mala said.

"Good." Beowulf said.

Later

Sean had arrived back home after all that was done.

Right now Starfire and her sister were being taught about the things of earth seeing they could be helpful with their powers.

Sitting down he sighed.

"Exhausted babe?"
