Chapter 23 A fish story
Its been a week since the Arkham incident with the Dirty bomb Joker had was neutralized and the Joker...Was still alive since a body wasn't found. (Seriously how does he survive certain death so much?)
After that Things took a strange turn in the last few days at sea near metropolis.
Recently marine wildlife had been attacking people at sea for some reason without any form of warning.
So right now Lois was out at sea with an old friend named Bibbo while Saya was getting some water samples.
"So any idea what might be causing this?" Lois asked Saya.
"Nope. Never seen fish act this way. But then again science has come a long way so someone might be responsible for it. Intentional or unintentional is the question." Saya said getting some samples before putting them in a machine.
"And what if they're just attacking because they think we're a threat? I mean we have screwed up a lot over the years." Lois said.
"I can't argue with that but animals don't do stuff like that without good reason." Saya said as a swarm of flying fish came by.
Only for one to hit Saya in the face.
"OW! You stupid Fish! Now I know why Harley hates them." Saya said as the ship shook as it was getting attacked by killer whales.
Beowulf was out on patrol with Supergirl when they saw this.
"Not again." Supergirl said as they rushed down.
"Tenth time this week this kind of thing has happened." Beowulf said as they rushed down and got the ship out of the water taking it back to land.
Once back to the docks Lois and Saya got off.
"Thanks." Lois said.
"No problem. So what happened?" Beowulf asked.
"Nothing. They just attacked us without any warning. Just like everyone keeps saying. I took some water samples but everything came back normal." Saya said.
"Which means it's nothing chemical based." Beowulf said.
"Maybe someone is making them do this? I mean you said it yourself with science anything is possible." Supergirl said.
"Theres only one guy I know though who could do something like this and the odds he is attacking innocent people is next to impossible." Beowulf said.
Later
After that even Lois and Saya went to a marine lab not far from the ocean.
"Animal behavior is very complex, Mr. Lane." Dr. Cardy said.
"There was nothing complex about what happened to us. I know animals and they don't do stuff like that without reason." Saya said.
"Well, it could have been mating season. They do tend to exhibit all manner of bizarre behavior." Cardy said.
"Since when is attacking ships a mating ritual?" Lois asked.
"They could have been protecting a calf or an expecting mother." Cardy said. (Could this guy give any more pathetic excuses?)
"I doubt that." Saya said.
"But taking in context of the marine world there's nothing really unusual going on." Cardy said as they passed a large fish who slammed into the glass.
"Yeah...Nothing unusual." Lois said.
"If you'll excuse me." Cardy said making them frown.
Cardy soon entered his office seeing Lex Luthor. (I knew right away he was involved since only he could cause problems in Metropolis more than anyone else)
"These attacks are out of control, Cardy. Even the men in mmy shipyards are expressing concern." Lex said. (Like you actual care)
"I know, Two of my most experienced trainers have been injured, countless near-misses." Cardy said.
"We both know whats causing this." Lex said.
"Yes, But what can I do? If Beofwulf finds out about this he'll come after us." Cardy said.
"Remove the Problem. Take it further inland away from the water. Use my security. That will at least make Beowulf reconsider if he gets suspicious." Lex said.
Unknown to both of them was that both Lois and Saya were listening in and frowned before they went down the stairs.
"Wait do you hear that?" Saya asked as they heard banging down below.
Arriving down at the bottom they entered a room before Lois gasped.
Inside a water tank was someone most people considered a myth.
Aquaman. (I got a question. Why didn't they keep the design from this episode in the Justice League series since he actually looks like his Comic design here)
"I heard rumors about this guy but never any solid evidence." Lois said.
"He's all the evidence we need." Cardy said shocking them as he had a gun aimed at them.
Meanwhile
Beowulf was patroling the harbor seeing a killer whale ramming against a ship.
"Oh not again." Beowulf said rushing down to move it away.
Only someone else got to it first.
A redhead who had white skin and green eyes with Large breasts and a heart shaped ass with muscles on her body as she calmed it down.
"Mera?" Beowulf asked seeing one of his lovers as she smiled at him.
"Sean. Been a while." Mera said before getting serious as another woman showed up. She also had red hair with white skin and aquamarine eyes with Small but still devoloping breasts and growing ass.
"Tula." Beowulf said.
"Hi Sean." Tula said.
"So what are you two doing here? Why are the fish attacking the surface. Is Arthur losing control of his powers or something?" Beowulf asked.
"No. But Arthur has been missing for a few days now. He came to warn you." Mera said.
"About what?" Beowulf asked.
"Lex corp has been placing explosives down below. And they have caused damage to Atlantis. He came here for your help. But something tells me Luthor may have gotten to him before he got to you." Mera said making him frown.
Meanwhile
Aquaman tried to break out of his restraints as he, Saya and Lois were in a truck heading somewhere else.
"Aquaman, Huh?" Lois asked.
"Something wrong?" Aquaman asked.
"No, it's just most people always thought you were a Urban Legend." Lois said.
"Nothing Urban about me." Aquaman said.
"So what are you doing here?" Saya asked.
"Some of your people..." Aquaman tried to say.
"Our people?" Lois asked.
"Land people or surface dwellers. They're about to cause the death of millions. I have to stop them." Aquaman said.
"And how do you plan to do that?" Saya asked.
"I have an ally on the surface. Beowulf." Aquaman said.
"Sean knows about you?" Lois asked.
"Oh you know who he really is. Yes, He came to Atlantis by chance and he respected our culture and vowed to help keep it hidden. Which led to an alliance between Atlantis and Global Tech. We provide him with small amounts of advanced technology to study and in return he helps clean the oceans for us which he has done perfectly. I tried to come and get his help but I was ambushed by Luthor." Aquaman said.
"Why am I not surprised?" Saya asked.
"I told him what would happen but he doesn't care. He just said it's good business." Aquaman said before the whole thing began to shake violently.
"NO WAIT! AHHHHH!" Cardy screamed as they heard what sounded like blood splashing on the wall.
"Asshole."
Opening the back was Beowulf, Sage, Supergirl and Mara and Tula.
"There you are. Wait what are you two doing here?" Beowulf asked as he freed them.
"We got captured by Cardy when we found your friend." Saya said.
"Sorry about that Arthur. I guess I forgot to mention people like Lex don't care about anything but money." Beowulf said.
"Not your fault. While some on the surface cause problems others like yourself try to fix them." Aquaman said.
"So where exactly is Luthor anyway?" Sage asked.
Later
Lex was on a Company ship watching his work.
"Are the explosives ready?" Lex asked.
"Primed and ready."
"Good then..." Lex tried to say before the computers went offline. "What happened?" Lex asked.
"The power went off line."
"Looking for these?" Beowulf asked showing the explosives glaring at him from behind his mask as his visor glowed. "You have some nerve. You were willing to kill millions of people...Just for money." Beowulf said making him smirk.
"You have no proof of that." Lex asked before his plasma caster aimed at his head making him frown. "You won't kill me. You don't..." Lex tried to say before Beowulf fired a blast but he somehow dodged as it hit one of his techs shocking him.
"Let me be clear. Your under arrest for attempted murder of the people of Atlantis who are allied with the US government through Global Tech. Where do you think they get so much high tech from?" Beowulf asked making him widen his eyes before US millitary choppers arrived before Lane and Amanda with armed troops took the ship.
"We'll take it from here son." Lane said as Luthor was arrested.
"The charges won't stick for long. You know that." Lex said.
"Don't be so sure. Murder of the millions even attempted murder...Can hold for some time." Beowulf said making him frown. "And another thing." Beowulf said pulling out a gun before shooting him in the leg making him yell in pain. "Thats a warning. Try something like this again and next time it'll be the head." Beowulf said as he was dragged out.
"We'll make sure the charges stick this time." Lane said as they left while Mercy smirked at him as she pulled out a device.
"I guess you were right to have me carry this." Mercy said.
"Thanks. Since you rarely ever leave Lex's side it helped us find him faster." Beowulf said as they walked out.
"I owe you once again old friend." Aquaman said.
"Ahhh. Think nothing of it. We'll make sure this can't happen again." Beowulf said.
"How did you even get captured anyway?" Sage asked.
"I'd rather not say." Aquaman said as he left.
"Aww. His pride is hurt." Sage said amused.
"I heard that." Aquaman said making them chuckle.
"So you guys sticking around?" Beowulf asked Mera and Tula.
"For a while." Mera said smirking.
Later
Sean was with Mera and Tula at some restaurant by the ocean.
"From the sounds of things you've been real busy these last couple months." Tula said.
"Oh you have no idea. Everything has been completely off the rails lately. I miss the days when Joker was the worst thing I ever faced." Sean said.
"Oh please. It cannot be that bad." Mera said.
"You wanna bet? I've facing a Giant shark with no powers because the Mayor cared more about money. A predator that killed several people including two People I knew who's people knew my father. Luthor being an idiot at every turn. Facing Darkseid who tried to conquer the Earth because he's looking for something. Going back in time and meeting my Great Grandfather who was a famous Pirate." Sean said.
"You're the grandson of a Pirate?" Tula asked amused.
"Yup. Jack Sparrow. Learned that my Great Grandmother was the reason my uncle snapped and killed my family right after she tried to kill me because she had no idea who I even was. Had to save Superman's cousin from Darkseid and fight him again. And then Joker almost Nuked all of Gotham after he escaped...And now this. So you tell me it's not as bad as it used to be back then." Sean said making her raise an eyebrow.
"Ok I take it back you have had a lot of trouble in the last couple months." Mera said.
"Like I said I miss the old days when Joker was the only thing I had to worry about. Whats next?" Sean asked.
"Who knows." Tula said.
