They all sat next to Jiro's unconscious body. The gas affected her before she even noticed, the girl remained unconscious for now, but she would recover. Momo could only keep her head down to process everything that happened as the rest of the class gathered in the room.
"This can't be happening…this can't be fucking happening." Kirirshima was using Bakugo's usual language, although it felt very appropriate given the situation. "I should've done something..I should've been fighting!"
"The teachers told us to stay back, there wasn't much we could do." Sero reminded them.
"And what did that get us?" Tokoyami asked. "Two missing classmates, out of reach no matter how hard we tried to save them." He didn't even say revelry in the dark. No one felt like lightening the mood.
"It'll be fine, won't it?" Tsu spoke with her calm demeanor. "Momo made a tracker and put it on the Nomu, didn't you?"
Everyone was staring at the rich girl, who looked completely out of it. "U-Uh, yes, I did. I'm having a meeting with the teachers later. I'm making them a receiver to track the signal. The pros and police will handle it from there. We just … need to have faith."
"Iruma-kun is gone, Iruma-kun is gone, Iruma-kun is gone-" Hagakure had been in a trance that, surprisingly, was trying to be pacified by Uraraka.
"He's going to be alright, he's always surviving dangerous situations, this…this is just another day for him…right?" She turned to everyone, but no one was willing to answer.
Todoroki looked the most out of it, staring at his hands. Apparently he was seconds away from grabbing Iruma until the barrier guy got in the way. "Just a few inches … just a few fucking inches …"
Kirishima was hit with an idea. A very stupid and dangerous idea. It didn't matter if he was told no by everyone, it needed to be asked. "Yaoyorozu." He started quietly. "Would making a second receiver have any problems on the first?"
"No..but why…" That's all he needed to hear.
Apparently Tsu knew what he was thinking, because she grabbed his shoulder. "This isn't something we're ready to do, Kirishima. We're not Pros…"
"This isn't about being a hero! This isn't even about being a man!" He yelled. "This is about making sure I'm doing everything humanly possible to get my friends back safely!"
"I'm in." Hagakure spoke up immediately, her trance broken. "I'm going to save him no matter what, and i'll murder anyone that gets in my way." Good, he felt the same way.
"Count me in too." Todoroki responded. "We're going to get them both back."
"I'm out." They all turned to Kaminari. "I mean, not that I don't want to help, it's just … I don't think I would be able to do anything. Besides, smaller groups are better, right?"
"He's right." Uraraka sighed. "If all of us go missing at the same time, our parents and the teachers will know something is up and try to stop us. We need to make sure we play this smart…"
"There's nothing you can do." Aoyoma spoke rather bleakley, for once not trying to pose or sparkle. "We already lost two friends. Please, don't let us lose more." His eyes pleaded at them, tears forming.
"They won't." Iida, surprisingly, spoke up. "If the situation gets too bad I'll pull you all out." He turned to Hagakure before she interrupted him. "You all did the same for me in Hosu. I'm not going to be a hypocrite and tell you not to go … just let me be the one to remind you that we're children, Toru." Holy shit, he just used someone's first name.
"You guys really haven't learned anything since the start of school." Tsu looked like she was scowling them. "If you're going out to act like vigilantes, then leave me out of it." She left the room. "I'm sorry, but what you're doing is wrong." She stopped, noticing someone outside. "... And now 1-B is involved, so that's your problem."
He knew they were fools, but he didn't truly take into account how far they were willing to take it. From the sounds of it, only one of them managed to have some common sense throughout the entire conversation.
Don't get him wrong, he may enjoy inciting the competition between the classes, but he wasn't low enough to strike them while they were so down. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but I have to be the responsible one." He stated to the room. "With Kendo tending to Tetsutetsu it is my responsibility, neih, my duty, to inform you … you're all being morons!"
"No, we just want to help." He glared at Setsuna. "Seriously, I'm a regenerator with reconnaissance, I'm just going to help."
"By. Being. A. Vigilante." He stated clearly so these no brains could get it! It was like talking with a 1-A student. "If you go out to do this, you'll be breaking the law. If you're caught, you'll likely be expelled at best, arrested at worst."
"I believe they're aware of the risk, as am I." He turned and…oh great, Shiozaki was in on this now too.
"You're supposed to be the religious nut of our class! Isn't upholding morality and law in your doctrine or something?" He wasn't an atheist but at this rate he might at well be!
"I've been questioning a lot within the past day or so." The girl growled. "The only thing I know for certain is that this is a fate no one, especially not my angel, deserves, and I'll see to it he makes it back alive and well."
"They have plenty of classmates lined up to help. Let them do whatever crazy idea they plan on doing by themselves. There is literally no reason for you to join them other than your weird obsession with those two boys."
"You're saying we need a reason to help someone who needs it?" Setsuna raised her eyebrow.
All it took was one, ONE freaking camping trip with 1-A, and their class was already being assimilated into the crazy. "This is insane, you are all insane, and the madness is only getting worse." He blinked in realization. "Wait, why am I arguing with you? I could just tell Vlad and this whole thing will be over with."
"You know, there was an important lesson Snipe-sensei taught me during the exams." Shoji approached the door and locked it. "Never announce your plans out loud."
"Really?" He raised his eyebrow. "You think a locked door is going to stop me from turning you in?" 1-A was a bunch of morons.
"Nope." He felt a clawed hand on his shoulder. "It's to stop you from running."...Oh right, he was now in a locked room with said crazy morons. "GET HIM!" Flashes of tape, vines, and purple orbs filled his vision.
Tiger looked was reading his suit, the meet up would be soon. "Are you three going to be alright?" He asked.
"Yeah I'm … fine." Mandalay spoke. "Kota's upstairs at the moment, I plan on letting him know about Suzuki's rescue operation once he's ready to talk." The woman sighed. "I messed up. I let some stupid grudge cloud my judgment and I didn't watch over him."
"To be fair." Pixie Bob was there as well, to keep an eye on Mandalay. "He kicked your nephew through a window."
"Kota wasn't even mad about that. If he could've let it go easily, what excuse do I have?" Mandalay rubbed her forehead. "And then he breaks both his arms and stops Muscular by himself, without any help."
"Even more reason to get him alone in bed." The two heroes gave Pixie Bob a stare. "Sorry, sorry, continue."
"I've been reading the file Recovery girl and Nedzu gave me on him…and it's freaking awful." Mandalay groaned. "Mental and emotional abuse, a decade's worth of malnutrition, never slept on a bed until his internships…I literally chose the wrong kid to hate."
"You didn't know at the time." Tiger spoke to her. "And you did your best to hold off two villains with great synergy. Even I wouldn't have been able to take them both on alone. You saved many students that night."
"Yet all it takes is one..no..three failures to make it seem…pointless…"
"Hey, kick that attitude out of here, we don't need it!" Tiger was done with the soft approach. "So you're saying it was pointless to protect the kids that you were watching over!? It was pointless to stop those villains from doing something worse!? That all it takes was one slip up to throw decades worth of rescues out the window?!"
"... No, you're right." She clenched her first. "Get them back. Suzuki, Bakugo … Ragdoll."
"You can count on me." He gave a dark grin as he walked out. "I'll get them all back and crush the villain into scrap." No one hurt his family like this.
Todoroki waited … and waited … until he walked out of the teacher's questioning. "Excuse me, Yagi right? I need to talk with you about a book report." He had a hunch, and was hoping that the 'trash zombie' was in on this if he was really the secretary of All Might.
The skeletal man turned to him, shocked, probably not expecting anyone outside of Iruma or All Might to approach him. "I'm sorry, but I'm not really qualified in this specific field. I believe one of your teachers could tell you something better at a later date.
"But I feel you're the best one to know about the three musketeers." He saw the man stop in his tracks. He really did know. "Iruma told me, and I feel I need to talk with All Might about it."
"Wait, Young Suzuki said…" The man said a familiar phrase. "Fine, come with me...you might as well know the whole truth at this point." He took him into the teacher's lounge and locked the door. "I am All Might."
"... So your Quirk causes muscle growth?" He asked, pieces coming in place. "Was that what you were born with?"
"No, I was quirkless before One For All was passed down to me." Yagi admitted. "The form you see me in now is technically my real body. It's..a long story."
Todoroki nods. "I just needed some clarity. The villain, All Forty One-"
"All For One." … That made so much more sense in context.
"He's probably involved in this attack. He knows Iruma has it. One of the villains commented they were interested in his quirk." He growled.
"I was afraid of this." The skeletal pro sighed. "I was certain I put the bastard six feet under. I should've done more after I-Island. I should've hidden Iruma away or something!"
"If you think separating him from everyone that cares about him would've done any good, then you really are an idiot." The pro blinked at that. "Did you know he almost went catatonic from keeping it a secret? The fact I got him to tell me what was wrong was a miracle, he vomited from the stress of going against a trigger. Are you even aware he has those, bastard?" Never in a million years did he think he would associate these words with All Might, but here he was.
"Yes damn it, I did, I did and I didn't do a damn thing about it because I'm…I was weak! I..I was tired, alright!" The man yelled, and the ferocity reminded Todoroki this was the symbol of peace he was talking to. "Iruma was so happy and eager to help people, more happy than anybody I've ever come across, and I ignored the signs until it was too late! I failed him! Damn it, I failed him…" The man sat down and cried.
Wow, and Todoroki thought he was bad at social situations before. How the hell do you work with a crying number one of the failure of your best friend? "You're not the only one." He sat down. "When he told me, I immediately promised that we'd help each other, and we wouldn't blame the other for failing. Look at me, already fucking it up. After barely a week."
"Your young, even adults like us carry a burden of what if …" The pro clenched his fist. "We're going to save him. A rescue operation will be carried out." Perfect, they'd have backup for their crazy plan.
"Thank you." He nodded, standing up. "I know you'll win All Might."
Tenya watched as everyone was prepared, standing in a circle in front of the train station. "Did everyone gather supplies?" He asked. If they were going to break the law, they were not going to do this unprepared.
"I spent my allowance on night time binoculars, for vision when needed." Ejiro gestured to his bag.
"Ah, you could've asked Momo to make some for you, couldn't you?" Ochako asked.
"No, she needs to be able to make anything on the dime." Ejiro argued. "There's no price on this mission." A pretty rational line of thought. At least he was thinking ahead. "Everyone ready to head out?"
"Born ready." Toru responded immediately. "We're just waiting on a few late arrivals."
"Fashionably late, you mean?" Setsuna approached them. "We had to make sure Momona was being watched over by someone we could trust not to eat us out."
"Your class is very set on helping from the sidelines." Ibara stated, disappointed no doubt.
"It's the only way for all of us to contribute a hand without raising suspicion from the teachers." Momo explained the situation. "We're a sizable group as it is. We need to remain as inconspicuous as possible."
"We need to make every second, and every action count." Toru stated with determination. "It's all for Iruma-kun." And Katsuki.
"For Iruma." And Katsuki.
"For Iruma." And Katsuki!
"For Bakugo." Finally, someone that was biased in the other direction!
"For Iruma and Katsuki." He said finally, before looking around. "Where's Shoto?"
"I'm here." They saw the boy wear the most determined expression he's had since the sports festival. "Let's go save our friends."
"Just remember, the moment everything goes south, I'm pulling us back." He hated to remind them, but it had to be said.
"Understood, we just have to make sure nothing goes south then." Ochako nodded firmly. He hoped that was the case as well.
