Chapter 28 The Revelation
Its been a week since Korra joined the Fire Ferrets since their Water bending Teammate bailed on them.
Now she was the new member of the group and while she was happy to be part of it even if people just assumed she was just some girl from the water tribe she was proud to be part of the game.
Now on the other hand though.
Korra and the others were at the gym at 6 in the morning.
"What is the big idea of making me get up this early in the morning? The Morning is more evil than the Joker." Korra said making Sean snort in amusement.
"Bullshit." Sean said.
"We're the rookies so we get the worst time slot in the gym." Bolin said.
"And you're the rookiest of us all. We gotta catch you up to speed if we're gonna survive in the tournament. Deal with it." Mako said throwing a ball at her.
"You deal with it!" Korra said throwing it harder making him skid back. "And deal with that bitch." Korra said making Sean burst out laughing.
"There are my hardworking street urchins." A man said walking in. "It's a pleasure to meet you new girl."
"And you would be?" Korra asked.
"Butakha. I run this whole pro bending shebang." Butakha said making Sean and Korra look at each other before shrugging walking off as he handed Cash to Mako. "Here's your winnings from the last match." Butakha said making him grin about to put it away. "But not so fast. First you owe me for the new girl's new gear, Gym and equipment rentals for last month." Butakha said taking some cash.
"Oh fucking hell. I had a feeling this was gonna happen." Sean said as Korra giggled.
"Rent on your apartment, and a personal loan for groceries." Butakha said taking the last of it making Mako frown looking at Bolin.
"What? I'm a growing boy?" Bolin said rubbing his stomach making Sean and Korra laugh.
"Christ." Sean said.
"Oh, and one more small item of business. The fire ferrets need to ante up 30,000 yuans for the championship pot." Butakha said shocking them all.
"Say what!" Korra yelled.
"30,000 Yuans?" Bolin asked in disbelief.
"Sorry, kids. You got until the end of the week to come up with the dough, or else you're out of the tournament." Butakha said leaving.
"You wouldn't happen to have a secret Avatar bank account thats overflowing with Gold would you?" Bolin asked Korra.
"Well, Sean does own the biggest company on our Earth so he's got plenty of money to spare." Korra said.
"That depends." Mako said.
"On what?" Sean asked.
"Do you have the currency of this universe or just yours?" Mako asked.
"What does that have to do with anything?" Korra asked.
"Because Chief Beifong made it a stupid Law that only this world's currency will be accepted. It was her way trying to prevent both universes working together." Mako said.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" Sean asked in disbelief.
"No he's right. If you don't have our currency it won't go through." Bolin said.
"AAAGH!" Sean roared in rage.
"I don't believe this." Korra said as they left.
"Who makes different currency unacceptable?" Sean asked.
Later
"She did what?" Amanda asked.
"She made it a law that only this world's currency is accepted. Why weren't we informed?" Sean asked.
"I had no idea she did that. But it gives me good reason to pay her another visit." Amanda said.
"Seriously. What is wrong with that woman? Does she have Mental problems or taking her frustrations out on everyone she can come across?" Sean asked
"Probably the second one. I've done some research on her and she's made this alliance difficult in Republic City. Passing laws like these and arresting anyone who's not from here even if they haven't done anything wrong. And now she went after you because she without proof believed you were Beowulf using Global Tech as a front. But now she won't do anything out of fear." Amanda said.
"Isn't that Mako?" Korra asked seeing him walk to them.
"You guys seen Bolin?" Mako asked.
"No. Not since this morning when you told us about Beifong's stupid laws. Why?" Sean asked.
"I haven't seen him for the rest of the day. And I'm worried he'll do anything to pay our way in the tournament." Mako said.
"Sounds like he does things without thinking them through properly." Amanda said.
"You have no idea. He a habit of getting into stupid situations." Mako said.
"All right then lets go find him before he gets himself killed." Sean said.
Later
Korra and Mako were on Naga while Sean was on Komodo.
"Your best friends are a Giant Komodo who can grow and Shrink...And A Polar bear dog. Somehow that makes perfect sense." Mako said.
"We'll take that as a complement City boy." Korra said amused making Sean chuckle.
Soon the three were at central city station.
"Well, this is his usual hangout." Mako said before they saw some kids playing before approaching one. "You guys seen my brother around?" Mako asked.
"Perhaps. My memory's a little...Foggy. Maybe you can help clear it up."
"Oh good lord." Sean said as Korra giggled.
"You're good, Skoochy. A real pro." Mako said paying him.
"Yeah, I've seen him." Skoochy said.
"When?" Mako asked.
"About Noon." Skoochy said.
"The hell was he doing here?" Mako asked.
"He was performing some kind of monkey-Rat circus. And then..." Skoochy said holding out his hand making Mako roll his eyes before paying him.
"And then what? Why'd he leave?" Mako asked.
"Shady Shin showed up and flashed some serious cash. Bo took off with him in his hot rod. The Triple Threats, The Red Monsoons, The Agni Kais all the Triads are muscling up for something real big. And thats all your getting out of me." Skoochy said running off.
"The hell is he talking about?" Sean asked.
"Sounds like there's a turf war brewing, And Bolin is about to get caught right in the middle." Mako said making them narrow their eyes before getting on Naga and ran off.
"So where the hell we going?" Sean asked.
"The Triple threat Triad's headquarters. Hopefully Bolin's there and nothing's gone down yet." Mako said.
"Triple threats? I heard about those guys in reports. Why would..." Sean tried to say before Komodo started chasing something. "DUDE! What are you doing?" Sean asked as they came to a street light and saw Pabu.
"Thats Pabu." Mako said.
"Komodo! Down boy. Thats a friend not a snack." Sean said making him hiss as he jumped down to Mako.
"We better hurry." Mako said.
Arriving at the headquarters something was off.
"Wait...There are usually two guys out front." Mako said as Sean pulled out his maul and slashed the door open seeing the place was a mess.
"Something went down here." Sean said.
"Yeah...But what and why?" Korra asked before seeing security cameras. "Hold on a second." Korra said going to one room before seeing a computer set up and accessed the video logs.
Thats when they saw a video of the Triple threats being attacked by those in masks.
"Equalists?" Mako asked.
"Wait you mean those anti bending guys? We ran into a protestor the day we showed up." Sean said.
"Yeah. They've attacked some of the gangs before but not like this. What are they up to?" Mako said seeing Bolin getting taken.
"Fuck." Sean said.
Later
"So you're telling me the Triple threats were attacked by the Equalists and your brother was also taken?" Lin asked crossing her arms.
"Thats about it. Who are they anyway?" Korra asked.
"They're non benders who view bending as a problem. Thier Leader is Amon. No one really knows much about them." Lin said.
"So why would they do this?" Sean asked.
"I have no idea. But I do know for a fact that there is supposed to be some kind of meeting tonight. Somewhere down by the docks because of this." Lin said taking out a flier as Sean took it.
"How do you know that?" Korra asked.
"It's the best intel we currently have. We have a couple more but they don't make sense." Lin said showing them as Sean turned them over.
"Hold up." Sean said putting them together turned over seeing some kind of pieces on the sides. "Do you have a map of the City?" Sean asked.
"Right there." Lin said pointing at the wall showing the city as Sean put it together showing the exact location which surprised her.
"You seriously need to fire you crews since if they couldn't figure this out and I know some good police and CSI back home who could solve this in a heartbeat." Sean said.
"I don't need anything from your universe. We've done things just fine." Lin said making him scoff. "We'll hit on them later tonight." Lin said before glaring at them. "And you will stay out of it." Lin said.
"Fuck you." Sean said shocking her. "I'm not gonna listen to some bitch who makes pointless laws and arrests people from my universe for petty reasons when they haven't actually done anything." Sean said as they left as she glared.
Later tonight
"Oh hell. I hate clothes like this." Sean said in baggy clothes as Korra giggled as they approached a bouncer.
"This is a private event. No one gets in without an invitation."
"You Mean this?" Sean asked presenting a flier which he took.
"The Revelation is upon us, my brothers and sister."
All three went inside and were surprised seeing hundreds of people in the room.
"I know a lot of people hate benders but I've never seen so many." Mako said.
Heading up to the top the lights turned on a stage.
"Please welcome your hero, your savior, Amon!"
Amon and his most elite followers appeared making the crowd cheer while Sean narrowed his eyes on him.
"My quest for Equality began many years ago. When I was a boy, my family and I lived on a farm. We weren't rich, and none of us were benders. This made us very easy targets for the firbender who extorted my father. One day, My father confronted this man, But when he did that firebender took my family from me then he took my face. I've been forced to hide behind a mask ever since." Amon said.
"Hmm." Sean said.
"For the last 18 years the Avatar has not been seen nor heard from. Clearly the current one has abandoned us." Amon said making people boo.
"Oh come on." Korra said annoyed.
"The Avatar would tell you that bending brings balance to the lands. But this is not true. The only thing Bending has done is bring suffering. It has been the cause of every war in every Era. But that is about to change." Amon said.
"Oh why do I not like this." Sean said worried.
"I Know you have all been wondering, what is the revelation? You are about to get your answer. Since the beginning of time, The Spirits have acted as guardians of our world, And they have spoken to me. They say the Avatar has failed humanity, that is why the spirits have chosen me to usher in a new era of balance. They have granted me a power that will make equality a reality. The power to take a person's bending away...Permanently." Amon said shocking the crowd and Korra.
"Thats not possible...Is it?" Korra asked Sean.
"Hold that thought." Sean said.
"Now for a demonstration." Amon said as the gang members he kidnapped were dragged on stage. "Please welcome Lightning Bolt Zold, Leader of the Triple Threat Triad, and notorious criminal of Republic City." Amon said as the crowd booed.
"Ah shut up you stupid fucks!" Zolt said as others and Bolin were dragged on stage.
"Bolin you idiot." Mako said before noticing Sean and Korra were missing.
"Now in the interest of..." Amon tried to say before they heard footsteps making them look seeing Beowulf and Sage come out of the shadows shocking everyone. "Well, well. How unexpected. The Legendary heroes of the other Earth. Beowulf and Sage." Amon said.
"GET ME OUT OF HERE AND I'LL PAY YOU!" Zolt tried to say before Beowulf aimed a net gun at him before firing making him yell as he was pinned to the wall with the net getting tighter and tighter till it cut him apart.
"If theres one thing I can't stand is a Mob boss." Beowulf said before freeing Bolin. "As for this one he's no criminal. Just a fool desperate for cash because the Chief of police made it Illegal for anyone to use any other currency." Beowulf said.
"All the more reason to prove Benders cause nothing but suffering." Amon said.
"Really? So Waterbending Doctor causes nothing but suffering?" Beowulf asked.
"Well I..." Amon tried to say.
"An Earthbender who helped save innocent people who were burried under rubble causes suffering? A firebender who keeps people warm from being cold causes suffering?" Sage asked.
"In general theres more bad than good." Amon said.
"And who determines who's which?" Beowulf asked as an Earth bender Triad member tried to escape but Amon grabbed him before placing his palm on his head as he groaned before falling over.
Getting up he tried to Earth bend but couldn't making him gasp in horror.
"So you can take peoples bending away." Beowulf said.
"The world is better off without bending. Heroes like you on the other hand though we can live with." Amon said before small explosions went off as the Police barged in making people scream.
Lin also showed up before seeing Beowulf and growled before charging right at him but he grew his wings before flying off with Bolin while Sage got Mako making her growl in rage.
Later
Tenzin was speaking with Lane and Eiling when Sean and the Korra showed up.
"There you are. We were just about to send a search party." Lane said as Korra looked uncomfortable.
"Whats wrong. You two find your friend?" Eiling asked.
"Yeah...But thats not the problem. We were at an Equalist rally. And we saw Amon." Korra said.
"What?" Tenzin asked shocked.
"He can take peoples bending away. For good." Sean said.
"I thought only your predecessor could do that?" Lane asked.
"But we saw him do it." Korra said.
"This is very troubling. However Amon gained this power it's clear no bender is safe." Tenzin said before Lin and her officers showed up. "Oh no." Tenzin said.
"What do you want now?" Sean asked.
"Your under Arrest Beowulf." Lin said.
"Not this again." Korra said.
"Lin that is enough." Tenzin said.
"Stay out of this. I saw him tonight. He was there." Lin said.
"I was with Mako and Korra to save Bolin because I had good reason believe you wouldn't actually help. Miss who made it a law for any other currency to be Illegal." Sean said.
"Lin I told you to toss that law." Tenzin said.
"No. I don't care about this Alliance. It shouldn't even exist." Lin said.
"Really? And who supports you on that claim? Can you name a thousand people who feel the same way?" Sean asked making her glare.
"Arrest him and Prepare him to be executed." Lin said.
"Don't even think about it." Lane said.
"And who are you?" Lin asked.
"General Lane. Four Star General of the United States Army. If you lay a finger on him it will be considered an act of war. And you know you'll lose." Lane said making her seethe.
"This isn't over." Lin said leaving.
"I guess you really don't care about your sister and her family with that threat my mother left you." Sean said.
"I'm calling it a bluff. Believe me. Next time I will arrest you and you're dead." Lin said.
"And you wonder why EVERYONE hates you. EVERYONE." Sean said making her glare as she left with her officers.
"She pulls one more stunt and there will be consequences." Eiling said.
"If only it were that simple." Tenzin said.
