Chapter 31 And the winner is
Sean smiled watching Korra and her team train using pictures of Tahno as target practice.
"You seem to be in a good mood." Mowgli said walking to him dressed in short shorts and a black tube top.
"Well, I had a good time with Mamako a short while ago so not hard to." Sean said making her giggle.
"Man, I got a good feeling about tonight. I don't care if we are the underdogs, We can take those pompous wolf-bats." Korra said.
"Oh I don't doubt it. But don't let overconfidence be your downfall." Sean said getting her to nod.
"It's going to be our toughest match ever, but I think your right." Mako said.
"Introducing the new champs, the Fantastic Fire Ferrets." Bolin said with excitement before the Radio got all fuzzy.
"The Hell?" Sean said.
"Good morning, citizens of Republic City. This is Amon." Amon said.
"I hope you all enjoyed the previous match involving the Pro Benders and the fight between the Joker and Batman's group. Because it will be the last. It's time for this city to stop worshipping bending athletes as if they were heroes. I am calling on the council to shut down the bending arena and cancel the finals or else there will be severe consequences." Amon said.
"That guy seriously pisses me off." Mowgli said.
"You think they'll give in?" Mako asked.
"Only one way to find out." Sean said.
Soon the group arrived at City hall seeing Tenzin and the others in a meeting.
"You all should not be here. This is a closed meeting." Tenzin said.
"As a Pro bender I have a right to be heard. You can't cancel the finals." Korra said.
"I know winning the championship means a lot to you, but as far as I'm concerned we need to shut the Arena down." Tenzin said.
"What about the rest of you? Tarrlok, there's no way you're backing down from Amon, right?" Korra asked.
"Actually, Tenzin and I agree, for once." Tarrlok said standing up.
"The council is Unanimous...We're closing the arena." Tenzin said.
"No!" Mako said.
"You can't!" Bolin said.
"I don't understand. I thought you of all people would take a stand against Amon." Korra said confused.
"While I am still committed to bringing that lunatic to justice, I will not put innocent lives at stake just so you and your friends can play a game. That is the reality." Tarrlok said.
"The reality is, if you close the arena, you let Amon win." Korra said.
"I'm sorry, but our decision has been made." Tarrlok said about to slam the gavel. "This meeting is adjourned." Tarrlok said before a metal wire cut through the gavel shocking him before it was revealed that Lin did that.
"I can't believe I'm saying this but..." Lin tried to say before Sean pulled a gun on her. "WHOA!" Lin yelled in shock.
"Get...Out." Sean said pissed off.
"Look just hear me out." Lin tried to say as he pulled the hammer back.
"No. Anything that comes out of your mouth is not worth worth hearing. You were gonna have me killed based on unconfirmed accusations. And kill every hero on my world because your that selfish. And now because of you more than half the police department lost their jobs because you wouldn't drop it. Not only that but the laws you made were unfair and selfish. You don't care about anyone but yourself." Sean said.
"Look...I screwed up. I had a lot of time to think about what I did. Your right...I was being selfish and I didn't even realize it. But I want to make things right." Lin said.
"No. No one is ever gonna trust you again. And why would they? You made life hell for everybody in the city. Part of the reason Amon gained so many followers and why people in his group hate Benders. You gave them a reason. Why would we trust you?" Sean asked making her look to the side. "You want to make sure Amon fails? Fine. How bout some members of the League." Sean said shocking her.
"You're willing to ask for their help?" Tarrlok asked.
"If it keeps her away certainly. Besides since the fact is Amon threatened innocents I got no choice now." Sean said.
"Now wait a minute." Lin tried to say.
"Shut up. You're not getting involved. And if you show up at the Arena...The Department will be sued for everything. And everyone will be out of a job." Sean said making her sigh.
"Since some of the League is getting involved my decision is changed. Everyone else?" Tarrlok asked getting all but Tenzin to agree. "The Arena stays open." Tarrlok said.
Later
"That did not go as I planned." Lin said.
"I don't wanna hear it." Tenzin said.
"Look...I know I screwed up and Let my anger blind me. But I'm trying to make amends for that." Lin said.
"It's too late for that Lin. More than half the police department got laid off because of you. And for what? Just because you wanted everyone to see things your way? What reason could you have for wanting to damage this alliance that brought good things to this world. Technology, Medicine, science. You set us back by decades." Tenzin said.
"I just...I thought if things continued as they were...People wouldn't need the police anymore at one point and it terrified me. You know more than anyone why I became a cop and it didn't work. This Job is all I have left." Lin said.
"And as usual you were selfish. Have you even visited Suyin after her husband passed away or your mother for that matter?" Tenzin asked.
"Of course I visited Suyin when that happened. Hell Sean's mother threatened her daughter at one point when they first got here to make me stop." Lin said.
"And still you did it." Tenzin said.
"No I called her bluff once I found out she and ARGUS had ties." Lin said.
"But what if she followed through. I know Amanda personally. She is someone you don't want to cross at all. The one thing she cares about more than anything are her sons. Even the worst of people can be amazing parents. How do you think Sean became so successful in 13 short years?" Tenzin asked making her sigh. (Contrary to what you may think Sora this is actually true)
"Beat it." Sean said behind her making her do so. "I will never understand how she's the daughter of the Toph of this universe. I know Toph's doubleganger in mine and she never acted like that." Sean said.
"I've known Lin since we were children. She's always been...Challenging." Tenzin said.
"Did your father do something to make her this way?" Korra asked.
"No. My father and Lin never had any issues at all. She usually agreed with his ideals. Her issues on the other hand as of today...Are mostly with me." Tenzin said uncomfortably.
"What the fuck does that..." Sean tried to say before widening his eyes. "You can't be fucking serious? You and that thing were a couple?" Sean asked.
"WHAT! Uh...WHERE'D YOU GET THAT IDEA!" Tenzin yelled.
"You just confirmed it moron." Korra said.
"Damnit." Tenzin said seeing his slip up.
"How the fuck do you end up with that first? I thought you and Pema were the only romance you had?" Sean asked.
"Oh no she came after. Lin and I started dating when we became teens but...The problem was I wanted to make sure the Air nation bloodline continued...But she didn't want children despite knowing this since she wanted to focus on her job. So it ended almost 20 years ago and then I ended up with Pema and then had Jinora then Ikki and now a third child on the way. We were gonna have another after Jinora turned 8 but we decided to wait since things were getting complicated because of Lin." Tenzin said.
"Probably did you a favor in waiting." Sean said.
"Sean?"
Sean sighed in annoyance seeing Goddess again.
"I'll be outside." Korra said leaving with Tenzin.
"What do you want now?" Sean asked.
"I just want to talk." Goddess said.
"I got nothing to say to you." Sean said.
"Fine then just listen." Goddess said making him sigh. "Look I am sorry about what happened with your family. It was an accident." Goddess said.
"STOP LYING!" Sean yelled shocking her. "It was no accident. You meant for that to happen all those years ago. You did it on purpose. Only reason your regretting it is because your just now realizing your killed your own Grandkids. You know now I realize why Gramps and his kids never told me anything about you. They disowned your ass. You hate humans so much but you see the Irony?" Sean asked.
"What are you talking about? What Irony?" Goddess asked.
"You act no different than humans do. You kill, Lie and murder no different than the criminals I hunt. They probably get it from you." Sean said.
"I...Thats different. They are the reason our family had so many issues!" Goddess yelled.
"WRONG! They had issues because of different views. Micheal admitted that he always lied and deceived everyone. Even was the one who gave Gramps the idea to start his little rebellion." Sean said.
"What?" Goddess asked in disbelief.
"Jealousy made him do that. But the Irony is it took one human to help them come back together. My Grandmother helped them reconcile. And you thank her by having her oldest murder his brother's family." Sean said.
"I didn't know they were my grandkids." Goddess said.
"It doesn't matter if you knew or not! What right did you have to do that? To kill so many innocent people. Causing floods, Plagues, Earthquakes. God looked the other way because he still loved you. I have no idea why. You don't deserve love. You know the difference between you and my mother? She does what she does with a purpose her actions are actually justified. Yours are not because your selfish." Sean said.
"I..." Goddess tried to say.
"Shut the fuck up. I'm done talking to you." Sean said leaving making her break down sobbing.
Later
"You want some of us to protect the Arena?" Superman asked as the League was on the Watch Tower to discuss this event.
"Not everyone just a small handful." Korra said.
"I told you we should have handled Amon before he started making threats like this." John said.
"Unfortunately it would only prove Amon's point that those with power oppress those without it. So we couldn't do anything without proving his point and making things worse." Sean said.
"True. So how do you wanna handle this?" John asked.
"I need at least 5 or more members here. John can be one of them. I also need M'gann to blend in incase they come in undetected. Anyone else will do." Sean said.
"Why not any of the members who kill?" Deadshot asked.
"These people aren't really criminals. Their just sick and tired of their rights being trampled over. Thats why this movement started in the first place." Korra said.
"She's not wrong. Acts like that will make groups like these. It's always happened." Drew said.
"But they are still fighting against a Legitimate government." John said.
"John...Let me ask you this? If a Government decided to do whatever the hell it wanted to people on a daily basis like kill or arrest whoever the hell they wanted just because they could. Would you stand by and do nothing...Or do something about it?" Sean asked making him frown.
"Ok fair point." John said.
"The one thing I do know is Amon is lying about his ability to take bending away came from spirits." Sean said.
"How do you figure that?" Reznov asked.
"I've studied about spirits before. And every single time they came up...They always attacked or killed people. The worst of them was Koh the Face stealer." Sean said.
"Wait...This guy actually stole faces from people?" Flash asked.
"Yup. Including one of the Past Avatar's lover's as punishment for his arrogance. He's not evil per say. Amoral is more accurate." Sean said.
"All right. We'll get who we can." Superman said.
Later
Everyone was gathered at the Arena for tonight.
"I can't believe you actually brought Talia and the kids here." Sean said to Bruce who smiled seeing them in the Private booth.
"He wanted to see the games for some time." Bruce said getting serious. "So how do you think this is gonna work? We've checked everywhere. No weapons in any of the stands or anything." Bruce said.
"Yeah...I wonder what he's up to. There are no cops here since there are so little now thanks to Lin." Sean said walking away.
Thats when he got pulled into the Shadows before seeing a girl with Black hair golden Amber eyes and white skin. She also had large breasts and a bubble butt grinning at him.
"Azula? What are you doing here?" Sean asked.
"Let me see? You asked for help and I'm offering...For a Price." Azula said making him scoff in amusement.
"At least you're not like your double here during the hundred year war." Sean said.
"Well, unlike her I was with good people. So whats going on so far?" Azula asked.
"Nothing yet. But keep your eyes out." Sean said as the match was about to start.
"The anticipation of palpable as we are just moments away from the championship match. Will the Wolf-Bat's ferocity help them repeat as champs, or will the underdog fire ferrets serve up a surprising bowl of smackdown soup?" The Announcer said.
"It's not like this is a game of Basketball or Football." Reznov said.
"No but in this world it gets a lot of attention." Sean said.
"Introducing the Challengers, The Future Industries Fire Ferrets!"
Korra and her team came out before she looked at Sean and blew him a kiss making him chuckle.
"Now introducing the Three Time defending champions, The White falls Wolf-Bats!"
Tahno in his team arrived in costumes acting all superior.
"I hate these fuckers." Reznov said.
"Oh yeah." Julia said.
"The Champs and the Challengers face off at the center of the line. And here we go!"
Once the match began however though Sean and the others noticed Tahno and his team were using Illegal moves on Korra's team.
"What the hell?" Sean asked.
"Now where have you seen that before?" Julia asked as Sean left.
Korra growled as she was getting tired of this crap.
"Attention cheaters!" Sean yelled making them stop as Sean held the Ref by the neck over the railing.
"What the? Sean what are you doing?" Korra asked.
"Easy. Solving a problem the way my gramps would. Now...Why are you letting the other team cheat? I know the rules and the Wolfvirgins have clearly broken each one." Sean said making people sputter in laughter at the name he gave them.
"Hey!" Tahno yelled annoyed.
"I don't have to answer to you." The Ref said.
"Oh really? Well, how bout I just drop your ass down to the hard floor face first." Sean said turning him upside down holding him by a leg making him scream.
"He takes too much after you." Micheal to Lucifer making him chuckle.
"OK! THEY PAID ME OFF! THEY ALWAYS DO THIS!" The Red screamed shocking the crowd while Tahno and his team looked real nervous.
"Every game they play?" Sean asked.
"YES! They give me 10% of the Championship Pot every year for letting them do whatever they want!" The Ref yelled.
"Have there been serious injuries such as no longer being able to walk? Or worse?" Sean asked.
"A couple but I didn't care!" The Ref yelled making people boo at him and the Wolfbats who looked angry.
"I think we need to contact the police here." Sean said making him gasp in shock.
As this was going on however though M'gann held her head.
"Whats wrong?" Flash asked.
"I don't know I feel like theres so much negative emotion...It's an ambush!" M'gann yelled before she and Flash got blasted down by some equalists.
"Looks like their here." John said on the comms about to rush in.
"Hold it." Sean said as Amon came up on the Arena making Tahno and his team look nervous.
"I assume you won't stop me." Amon said to Sean.
"Be my fucking guest." Sean said as Amon and his men took them down easily.
"Wait...Please I'll give you all the Money I have. Just please don't take my bending!" Tahno begged.
"Your sins come now to haunt you for the crimes you committed pal." Sean said as Amon took his bending making him gasp in shock before he did the same to his teammates and kicked them into the Water.
"I'm impressed. You knew the Ref had to be letting them cheat in order to have them win too easy." Amon said.
"I'm the CEO of the largest company in both worlds. I knew there was something amiss when I first learned about these guys. No one is that good." Sean said before more Equalists showed up with high tech weapons. "And apparently you have some nice toys." Sean said.
"I need every advantage over Benders. They have caused nothing but suffering throughout history. True...There are those who use their gifts for good. But the Bad Outweighs the good." Amon said.
Thats when the other Leaguers showed up and started to take down his men and their weapons.
"What!" Amon yelled.
"You forced my hand. When you threatened innocent people who haven't actually done anything. I had to bring the League in. While I agree that those who like them misused their power for their own gains should have it taken away...You'll realize it's better to have something that could cause suffering rather than not have it when you truly need it." Sean said pulling out a special gun and shot four of his men knocking them down. "Special stun gun. Something I recently made. None of you are actually criminals so you don't deserve to die for what you believe in." Sean said.
"I honestly thought we could work together to bring true equality." Amon said.
"I would help you if only you went after criminals. No argument. But unfortunately you want to go after all of them. And believe me...There are consequences...To all of our actions even if we tell ourselves it's for the greater good." Sean said.
"Perhaps." Amon said before the place began to explode making Sean dash at Korra as they jumped into the water with her team as Glass came down.
Coming back up they saw he was gone along with half of his men.
"That went well." Tula said coming out as she had them reach the platform.
"Where did Amon get these?" John asked holding up some high tech weapon.
"I don't know. But something tells me he's got someone helping him out. And he's gearing up for war." Sean said.
Later
Everyone on the League arrived at STAR labs to study the tech.
"Man. This is some high tech stuff." Cisco said.
"Where did you get this from again?" Wells asked.
"From Amon's group. They showed up at the Bending Arena and started shooting these at Benders." Barry said.
"Well, they have a nonlethal setting and I'm guessing non were killed." Cisco said.
"No. I've never seen tech like this before." Sean said.
"It's human based. But I thought all tech was banned from going in and out because of Chief Beifong." Cisco said.
"It was till she was suspended and all her laws were taken down because they made no sense in the eyes of the people." Sean said.
"So whoever made this was very recent. Say...A week ago." Wells said.
"A week?" Sean asked alarmed.
"What is it?" Barry asked.
"Last week the Joker attacked the Bending Arena. We thought it was strange since it didn't make any sense even for him. What if he was just a distraction to get these into Amon's hands?" Korra asked.
"It would make sense. After all the Police force is now to a low number because of Lin after I sued her ass." Sean said.
"Wait you sued her?" Cisco asked.
"She tried to have me killed and wanted all your names so she could put all of you on Death's row." Sean said.
"For what?" Hawkgirl asked in disbelief.
"Because she's selfish. Wanted everyone to see things her way. It honestly pisses me off she's Toph's daughter from that universe. She set the whole place back by decades because of her stupid laws." Sean said.
"Theres always going to be someone like that." Caitlin said.
"Yup." Sean said.
Later
Sean was back in his penthouse sitting down before the Elevator opened up and he sighed seeing Goddess again.
"Your persistent you know that. Guess I see where I get it from." Sean said.
"You inherit something from family through the years." Goddess said.
"What do you want now?" Sean asked making her sigh as she sat down.
"I did some hard thinking after our last talk. And you were right." Goddess said getting his attention. "I was being selfish. I'm no different than the people you take down." Goddess said making him raise an eyebrow.
"Go on." Sean said.
"I just...Never realized I was exactly what I hated. Took my frustrations out on innocent people no different than anyone on Earth. I wanted to deny it so much. But I'm just as horrible as any human being." Goddess said.
"Why did you do what you did to humans?" Sean asked making her sigh.
"I thought...If Humans were gone...Our family could come together like before long before they existed. So I tried to wipe them out. I thought it could give our family a clean slate." Goddess said.
"It's never that simple. The issues the family had came long before Mankind. No family nor person. God nor Human...Is perfect. We're all flawed in our own way. But then again...Thats a good thing." Sean said.
"How is that a good thing?" Goddess asked.
"If we were all so perfect like Gramps wanted us to be...Think how boring this world would be?" Sean asked making her giggle lightly.
"I...Guess thats true." Goddess said getting a drink before frowning. "Theres no Alcohol in this." Goddess said.
"Nope." Sean said standing up. "I'm underage. Law says you need to be 21 to drink those kind of drinks. Only time I ever did was after our first meeting." Sean said.
"Oooh." Goddess said.
"The Hangover killed me." Sean said.
"Sean...I want to make things right. To have...some relationship. Even a small one." Goddess said making him nod.
"That has to be earned not given. Considering you admitted your flaws and admitted your no different than what you hate...It's very small step in that direction." Sean said.
