Chapter 46 Paradise Lost
It's been a month since the whole Shark Attack incident with Mike now serving 50 years in prison for trying to have Sean and the others killed so he could get off easy and take credit for killing the sharks.
Now things were back to normal again.
Right now though.
Beowulf growled as he and Superman flew through a storm in Metropolis.
"This is why I hate global warming. It leads to nature getting out of hand." Beowulf said.
"No argument here." Superman said as they flew over a bridge before seeing a fire truck go off the road and nearly fell over.
"Of course." Beowulf said dashing to them as Superman went to the bottom to pick them up placing them back down.
As they helped the rest of the city Beowulf saw Wonder Woman take a girl back to her mother before seeing her spacing out.
So distracted by her thoughts she never saw a street light coming down on her till Beowulf dashed at her carrying her in his arms bridal style as it came down.
"Now you didn't do this on purpose so I could save you did you?" Beowulf asked amused making her smile as they landed.
"Cute." Diana said.
"Whats with you? You never space out during these kind of moments." Beowulf said making her look away.
"I don't know. I suppose I guess I'm feeling." Diana tried to say.
"Homesick?" Beowulf asked making her nod. "That I can understand. Why don't you just go home for a while. We can handle things without ya for a few days." Sean said.
"But what if Grendel shows up again?" Diana asked.
"He'll show up regardless at any point. Doesn't matter if you're here or not." Sean said.
"I suppose so." Diana said flying away.
Later
Sean sighed as he was in his Penthouse in DC getting a drink of Cola.
"You know I know you swore you'd never drink again after the first time but still always a soda?" Lucifer asked his Grandson making him chuckle.
"What would you prefer? Kool-Aid?" Sean asked making him chuckle.
"So...I hear you and Mum are actually slowly repairing your relationship." Lucifer said.
"Well...Since she finally admitted her flaws and now that we know Grendel used her it helps repair it to some extent Don't get me wrong I still haven't forgiven her but at least we have some relationship so thats something." Sean said.
"I suppose it does. Still...I'm curious as to what you've done to piss Grendel off so badly that he wants you dead." Lucifer said.
"I don't even think I actually did anything to him. At least directly. For all I know this is someone who hates me for what I do." Sean said before his communicator beeped. "Yeah go ahead." Sean said.
"Sean, I'm tracking Diana since she's acting strange." Batman said.
"Strange how? Last time I saw her was a few hours ago before she decided to visit home feeling homesick." Sean said.
"She asked me to look into someone named Felix Faust." Batman said.
"Faust? Are you sure?" Sean asked.
"Remember what Zatara said?" Batman asked.
"Zatara and Zatana before her father died? Zatara said he had a run in with him and some other Mystics about...7 years back." Sean said.
"Now he's resurfaced. And now Diana is involved.
"Ok...I'll see whats going on." Sean said hanging up.
"Felix Faust. I seem to recall that name from Johnny." Lucifer said.
"He's an asshole who's got issues. You wanna look into it be my guest. I'm gonna go find Diana." Sean said leaving.
Later
Beowulf arrived at some Museum on top of the building.
"Now why would she be here?" Beowulf asked before looking inside.
Inside she was fighting some giant statue making him raise an eyebrow before throwing a new device at it making it stick before it melted to nothing.
"Huh?" Diana asked.
"Little something I made using Predator chemicals Wolf used to dissolve bodies to keep certain things hidden. Now...What the hell are you doing and what does this have to do with Felix Faust?" Beowulf asked.
"How do you know him?" Diana asked.
"Honey, I know almost every bad guy from the Joker to Darkseid. Faust has been on our radar for 7 years. Now, what are you doing and how did you going home end up having you do this?" Beowulf asked making her sigh.
Later
"So Faust has taken full control of your island and turned everyone to stone?" Sean asked as everyone available was gathered.
"Yes. And if I don't get these pieces they'll remain that way." Diana said.
"Faust wouldn't be there unless there was something of importance there. His MO has always been to collect knowledge of old tales. Whatever is there he thinks will get him just that." Sean said.
"So what do we do?" Julia asked.
"Obviously we need to do both. Find out what he wants these objects for and find out what he's after." Batman said.
"Batman and I will handle that last part. The rest of you find these relics." Sean said as Wally dashed to Diana.
"Dibs on Diana." Wally said before yelling as she twisted his arm.
"I already said I'm taken." Diana said making him groan as everyone else laughed.
Later
Sage and Wonder Woman were arriving at one of the locations where the next Relic was.
"You gotta be kidding me." Sage said amused seeing it was a high class mall.
"Why would one of the Relics be here?" Diana asked.
"Maybe they were scattered all over the world to keep them far from one another." Sage said as they walked inside.
"It's like some temple." Diana said.
"Yeah...For those who worship their credit cards." Sage said as they passed a bikini store.
"Why would any woman wear such ridicules garments?" Diana asked making her laugh.
"How would you know? You've never even worn any of them. I think the Sling Bikini would suit you in a style similar to your outfit." Sage said making her snort in amusement.
"Very funny." Diana said as they reached a spot before Sage Earth bended it upwards seeing some vase.
"Wait a second." Sage said pulling out a device.
"What is that?" Diana asked.
"It's a device that Sean made that can detect any kind of magic traps or whatever. It helps make sure we're not caught by surprise." Sage said as it beeped red. "Yeah Theres one there." Sage said before a bright flash blinded them.
"Korra?" Diana asked before seeing some monster in front of her.
"Diana?" Sage asked before seeing the same thing but then saw a mirror showing it was actually Diana. "Oh shit." Korra said as Diana rushed at her but she dodged quickly.
"Tell me where Sage is Monster!" Diana yelled.
"Oh great this is like some messed up foreplay." Sage said as she air bends at her forcing her into a wall before she grabbed a pillar and slammed it into her making Sage grunt as she was slammed into a wall.
Seeing her charge against Sage Used Water Bending to hold her in place.
"Where is Sage?" Diana asked before she grabbed her head turning her to a mirror showing it was her shocking her.
"Yeah...I noticed when I looked in a mirror." Sage said letting her go.
"What Evils have we unleashed?" Diana asked as Sage broke the vase seeing the relic.
"Whatever the hell this thing is proves it's ancient." Sage said as they walked out.
"Hope I didn't hurt you." Diana said.
"Oh please. I have taken harder hits when Amanda had me trained. You hit like a little girl." Sage said making her snort.
"I don't suppose you'd like me to make up for it?" Diana asked.
"Oh I got something in mind. But for later though." Korra said making her smile.
"Guys." Beowulf said on the comms.
"Yeah babe?" Korra asked.
"I think you guys should have a look at something." Beowulf said.
Later
Everyone arrived at Faust's original residence seeing it full of magical items and books.
"Where the hell did he get this stuff?" Reznov asked.
"Who knows." Batman said.
"Fascinating. Faust clearly has a great passion for Learning." J'onn said.
"Depends on what your definition of Passion is." Sean said looking at some artifacts.
"Where'd he get this stuff? Warlocks R us?" Wally asked holding a staff before the top opened up revealing an eye before it blasted Mala into a wall making her growl annoyed making him quickly put it in Sean's hand.
"He did it." Wally said before getting punched into a wall.
"Dumbass." Sean said.
"So who is this Felix Faust?" Superman asked.
"Felix Faust was once a respected Archeologist. But when he became fascinated with the mystic arts he was kicked out of the university for his heretical ideas." Batman said.
"Only those ideals were later proven true because of recent events." Drew said.
"Yup." Elastigirl said.
"He swore revenge on those who mocked him and many disappeared under mysterious circumstances." Batman said.
"I think I know what happened to them." Diana said looking at three heads.
"Eh, I've seen worse. I mean Sean collects skulls from his worst enemies like the predators do." Sage said.
"True but those guys are guilty these people weren't." Sean said.
"It gets worse. I found his Journal and his latest entry has a reference to Tartarus." Batman said making Diana widen her eyes.
"The Pit of Lost souls." Diana said.
"Isn't that just a myth?" Superman asked.
"The hell would you call my dad and his linage?" Sean asked.
"He's got a point." Katma said.
"If only this were. Long ago, in ancient times My mother Hippolyta fel in love with a god, Lord Hades. When War broke out between the Olympian Gods and their Ancient Foes, The Titans. Hades struck a treasonous Bargain with the Enemy: He would deliver Mount Olympus into the Titans hands. In Return, He would be given dominion over all Humanity." Diana said.
"Oh what a fucking shock." Turok said.
"Mmm." Sean said.
"In the end the titans were defeated and Hades was discovered for his treachery. For his crimes he was sentenced to rule the underworld for Eternity. As for my mother for her unknowing part she would forever look over the gateway to make sure it never opened." Diana said.
"Ouch." Korra said.
"So...Where is this gateway?" Julia asked.
"Under one of the temples on my home." Diana said.
"So these pieces we've been collecting are part of that gateway." J'onn said.
"So what does he want with them?" Flash asked.
"Whats the point in having a key?" Sean asked putting them together. "If your not gonna use it?" Sean asked.
"He plans to open the gateway?" Karasuba asked.
"It makes sense. He probably wants to free Hades for ultimate knowledge." Batman said.
"Diana we can't just give it to him." Superman said.
"If I don't my sisters will remain in stone prisons." Diana said.
"And if you do it could mean the end of the world." Batman said.
"Either way we lose." Korra said.
"Not if we play this right." Sean said.
"What do you mean?" Superman asked.
Later
Faust waited patiently for Wonder Woman to arrive before she burst into the temple.
"Back already? And with hours to spare. I'm impressed. Do you have the relics?" Faust asked making her show the completed key.
"First, free my mother." Diana said.
"Yes of course." Faust said as Hippolyta was free from stone before Diana walked towards her. "After 300 years, the key is finally complete." Faust said and Hippolyta widened her eyes in horror.
"Diana you didn't." Hippolyta said in shock before Faust was about to blast them.
Only to see three red dots on his chest making him look up seeing Beowulf aiming his Plasma Caster at him making him gasp as he fired but he blocked it with magic.
"One thing I hate about Magic is it always being stronger than science at every turn." Sean said before Faust tried to blast him but he missed.
"So we meet at last Beowulf...Or should I call you Kruger?" Faust asked.
"Call me whatever the hell you want freak. The fact is your a deadman walking." Beowulf said firing at him again but he blocked it and tried to go to Hippolyta but Sage got in his way.
"Fine. I have what I need." Faust said vanishing.
"Where did he go now?" Beowulf asked as the others arrived.
"Down below." Hippolyta said as they went to the old ruins of the island.
"Lots of history here." Sage said.
"The kind that is meant to be forgotten." Hippolyta said.
Thats when they arrived at the gates seeing Faust with the Key as he opened the door.
"NO!" Hippolyta yelled as the doors opened up before Hades stepped through.
"Ahhh. Finally." Hades said as he looked around before spotting Hippolyta. "Ahhh. My Dear Hippolyta." Hades said before getting blasted by Beowulf. "What the?" Hades yelled before seeing Beowulf. "Micheal Kruger." Hades said annoyed.
"How do you know him?" Beowulf asked taking his mask off.
"Your not Micheal...But you do look exactly like him. Only the eyes are different." Hades said.
"My Lord. This is Micheal's only surviving Bloodline." Faust said.
"Ahh. So the son of the bastard who prevented me from returning 200 years is in my grasp. I shall enjoy killing you." Hades said blasting at him but he dodged easily.
"ENOUGH!" Goddess roared appearing in front of him.
"Charlette?" Sean asked.
"I'll handle this." Goddess said.
"Ahh. Goddess. The God who unknowingly murdered her own grandchildren. If your here to take away the last of Micheal's bloodline for yourself You won't get the chance. This one owes me a blood debt for the interference from his father." Hades said making her glare.
"Oh boy." Beowulf said as she started glowing.
"Ok...I'm gonna kill you." Goddess said as she blasted him back making him scream in pain as she charged at him.
"NO!" Faust yelled only for Beowulf's wrist blades to come out.
"I'm going to enjoy this for Zatara." Beowulf said charging at him.
Hades roared in pain as Goddess continued to beat him within an inch of his life.
"You may be the God of the Underworld but I'm one of the first gods of this planet. You are nothing." Goddess said blasting him into a wall making him roar in pain.
"Wait...How bout a deal?" Hades begged making her stop.
"Go on?" Goddess said.
"Spare my life...And I will never come back again." Hades said.
"Not good enough." Goddess said.
"What else do you want?" Hades asked making her grin.
"Oh...I got something in mind...A gift for my Grandson." Goddess said.
Later
"You have got to be kidding me." Diana said annoyed.
In front of her was the Sorceress known as Circe who smiled as she hugged Sean's arm.

The Rest of the League went back after Faust vanished while Korra went back to the Southern Water Tribe to visit her parents.
