Chapter 51 Southern Lights
Sean and Korra were at the stables seeing Unalaq getting everything ready before seeing he had a Cybernetic hand to replace the one he lost last night.
"You're both early." Unalaq said pleased.
"Don't act so fucking happy. Only reason we're doing this is so you'll stay out of our lives for good. Especially after what you tried to pull last night." Korra said glaring at him.
"Korra your duty is to the world. Being a parent will only distract you. You need to understand that..." Unalaq tried to say.
"Say another word and we walk." Sean said making him frown before walking away.
"I swear to god." Korra said.
"I take it back. He makes Luthor more likable." Sean said as they got their gear ready.
While this was going on Amanda walked to Unalaq.
"What do you want now?" Unalaq asked.
"I want to make this clear. You try anything and I will bring you down." Amanda said.
"My only intention is to look out for Korra's best interest." Unalaq said.
"Her Interest? Or the Red Lotus?" Amanda asked shocking him but kept it calm.
"I don't know how you know about that name..." Unalaq said.
"We had a visitor from another Earth much like this last year. A doubleganger of Sean who told me you sent Zaheer and his group after them when they were children to kill him and capture her." Amanda said.
"I severed my ties with that group years ago after I learned they were not what I wanted." Unalaq said.
"You mean Chaos? Destroying worlds to remake it into nothing but Chaos with no rules whatsoever?" Amanda asked.
"Thats none of your business. And Like I told Tonraq years ago I had nothing to do with Zaheer or those others going after them. I didn't even know they were in Republic City till after it happened. And Like I said I severed my ties with them years ago. I have nothing to do with them anymore." Unalaq said.
"Before or after the failed mission?" Amanda asked making him glare.
"Think whatever you want but I am being honest. I had nothing to do with it." Unalaq said.
Later
Sean was getting Korra's gear ready on Naga.
"You ok?" Korra asked.
"Nope. I absolutely hate this." Sean said.
"I know. After the baby is born I'll make this all worth it." Korra said making him smile kissing her.
Thats when Tonraq arrived on a snowmobile.
Unalaq noticed this and frowned before approaching him.
"Tonraq, what do you want?" Unalaq questioned.
"I heard your taking Korra to the South Pole. I'm coming." Tonraq said.
"Absolutely not! You're a distraction to Korra and a hindrance to what needs to be done." Unalaq said.
"If you think I'm letting you near her after that stunt you pulled yesterday forget it!" Tonraq yelled.
"I stand by what I said. A child is a distraction to the Avatar. Call it cruel or whatever you want I don't care. I stand by that statement." Unalaq said.
"And you wonder why your wife left you." Tonraq said shocking him. "Then again Father arranged that for you because he knew no one would ever willingly marry you." Tonraq said making him glare.
"Ooh. Ouch." Constantine said.
"Relax Tonraq. I can handle him. He's nothing but a bug no different than Joker and Luthor." Sean said.
"I am nothing like them. I'm not some murderous freak of nature." Unalaq said.
"And yet you tried to have an unborn child killed for selfish reasons. Murder is murder." Sean said making him glare.
"Even after all these years your still misguided. It's people like him that have put the Spirit world out of balance. He's ignored my warnings in the past and hasn't learned since." Unalaq said.
"What happened in the past?" Korra asked.
"It doesn't matter. What matters is the Everstorm." Tonraq said.
"The what?" Constantine asked.
"A massive blizzard that has battered the south pole for decades. I'm coming, unless you think you can stop me." Tonraq challenged his brother who frowned.
"HEY! GUYS! WAIT FOR ME!" Bolin yelled driving to them on a high tech snowmobile.
"What the?" Turk asked amused.
"Check it out. I'm traveling in style." Bolin said before turning the throttle on before stopping. "Sorry, still getting used to that throttle." Bolin said.
"Where'd you get that from?" Jinora asked.
"From Varrick. That guy Hiroshi went to expand his business in this world. He also gave me this fancy snowsuit. It's inflatable with an internal heater, emergency beacon, and foot ration pouch. I mean, if I get lost, I can survive in this thing for like a month." Bolin said.
"You don't need that for a one day trip." Sean said as they were ready to move out.
Eska however approached Bolin. "Does this Sidecar have capacity for two passengers?" Eska asked.
"Sure does." Bolin said placing a hand on the side passenger seat. "But, uh, who's gonna drive?" Bolin asked.
Later
Bolin had an annoyed look on his face as he drove both Desna and Eska. (Oh for the love. He is a moron)
"Oh my good lord." Rose said.
"Looks like." Turok tried to say.
"Go away Turok." Bolin said making them laugh.
"Oh good lord." Rose said.
Up ahead were Korra and Unalaq.
"So once we get to the South Pole, then what happens?" Korra asked
"You will open an ancient spirit portal." Unalaq said.
"I'm sorry. What now?" Korra asked confused.
"At the South Pole, there is a portal that connects our world to the spirit world. But it has long been closed." Unalaq said.
"And thats why evil spirits are attacking?" Korra asked.
"There are no evil spirits. There is light and dark in all of them. But when they're unbalanced, the darkness takes over. If you can open the portal in time, balance will be restored.
"What do you mean in time?" Korra asked.
"Theres a reason the glacier spirits festival ends on the winter solstice. Thats when the spirit world and the physical world are close together. Only the Avatar can open the portal." Unalaq said.
"But thats tomorrow." Korra said.
"Exactly. And we can't afford to wait another year." Unalaq said.
Suddenly however Komodo started hissing at he looked behind them and snarled.
"Easy boy." Sean said petting him seeing what was making him act up seeing Dark Spirits.
"What are those?" Bolin asked terrified.
"Dark spirits." Korra said before they vanished.
"Let's keep moving. We have to find a safe place to set up camp." Tonraq said as they moved out.
Soon enough they set up camp and were around a fire.
"Uncle, why do you think dark spirits are following us?" Korra asked.
"The Spirits are angry because he's here." Unalaq said pointing at his brother shocking her. "Haven't you ever wondered how your father ended up in the South Pole? Why he's never taken you to visit his homeland in the North?" Unalaq questioned.
"Unalaq, this is not the time." Tonraq said.
"You're right. You should have told her a long time ago." Unalaq said.
"Told me what?" Korra asked making him sigh.
"I left the North Pole because I was banished." Tonraq said shocking her and the others.
"You were banished from the North? Why?" Korra asked.
"Because I almost destroyed the entire tribe. 20 years ago, I was a general in the northern water tribe, Sworn to protect my people. Then one day a group of barbarians attacked the tribe. We fought back and forced them out. We tracked them down to a sacred forest thinking we would never dare to attack on sacred ground. They thought wrong." Tonraq said.
"Sounds more like you were just doing your duty to your people mate." Constantine said.
"I was. We took them down and captured them but in the process we destroyed the forest. The next night angry spirits came at the tribe. Unalaq was able to calm them down and returned them to the forest. But the damage had been done and my father banished me from the Northern water tribe and I made my way here." Tonraq said.
"Now do you understand? It's people like your father..." Unalaq tried to say.
SLINK!
Gasping he looked down seeing Sean's spear going right through his heart.
"I am going to enjoy this." Sean said as his wrist blades came out.
"What are you doing?" Unalaq asked in shock.
"Killing you. Since you have gotten on my last nerve." Sean said before his kids got in the way.
"We won't let you kill him." Desna said before getting blasted away as Sean stabbed Eska in the side making her groan in pain.
"Out the fucking way." Sean said as he neared Unalaq who tried to crawl away.
"Tonraq! Do something!" Unalaq yelled.
"Don't look at me I can't control him." Tonraq said.
"Avatar Korra!" Unalaq yelled making her smirk.
"Bye uncle. Have a nice trip in hell." Korra said as Sean slammed his claws into his neck pulling.
"AHHHHHH!" Unalaq screamed as Sean pulled his head right off.
"What have you done!" Desna yelled in shock.
"Got rid of an annoyance. As for you two." Sean said with his blades out.
"Let them go. They aren't worth it." Korra said making him snort.
"Well that was rather interesting. But let's head to this portal and see whats going on yeah?" Constantine asked.
Later
"That must have felt good." Korra said to Sean who smirked as Unalaq's head was on his side.
"You know Wolf told me my dad only ever had one human skull on his trophy wall. Some British colonel during the Revolution." Sean said.
"Just one. You got a few Including one Hunter and that Queen and Darkseid's head. Which is the best one I might add." Korra said making him snort.
"Wolf explained he killed a friend of his during the war for no reason but a laugh. Then his brother Gabriel was taken and he dawned his gear. Slaughtered them all without any remorse save for one to deliver a message. That he had unknowingly Unleashed a monster." Sean said.
"Check it out." Turok said seeing somme frozen forest.
"This must be what Unalaq was talking about." Korra said.
"Why is everything frozen?" Ikki asked.
"I think Unalaq may have been right. The spirits here are out of balance." Jinora said.
"Yeah...But from what?" Turok asked.
"We'll find out when we go inside." Constantine said as they went in.
"So once we get this done then what?" Korra asked.
"Then we actually relax. I don't want anything to do with Unalaq." Sean said.
"True." Korra said as they arrived at the center.
"Look down below." Rose said seeing some glowing sphere.
Korra went into the Avatar state before slamming her palm down before the ice cracked and shot a bright light into the sky showing colorful auroras.
"Spirits dancing in the skies." Korra said smiling.
"Hmph." Sean said amused.
Later
Everyone was heading back to the Southern Water Tribe when they saw Northern troops and ships.
"What the hell is going on?" Sean asked.
"This was in Father's will to protect the portal." Eska said.
"And now because of you he is dead." Desna said.
"Like I care." Sean said as Troops arrived.
"What the hell is this?" Korra asked.
"Sean Joseph Ashburn Kruger. In the name of the Northern Water Tribe you are under arrest for the Murder of Chief Unalaq." The Commander said making him glare.
