Chapter 53 Peace Keepers
Sean slowly woke up with a groan before looking to his side seeing Ikki asleep with a content smile on her face.
"Now this is a good sight to see in the morning." Sean said getting up.
Later
Soon the boat docked at Republic City.
"So what do we do now?" Korra asked.
"Well, first we let the President know that Unalaq is in league with a terrorist group we've been facing for a few years now. Then we let the League know whats going on." Sean said.
"I till can't believe Unalaq is involved with the Brain of all people. How the hell did they even meet in the first place?" Korra asked.
"Most likely because of us. After all lets not forget that Luthor was aligned with Amon after we stopped him from killing the people of Atlantis so he could expand his business and get a foot hold here. So it makes sense Unalaq would want to do the exact same thing knowing he would stand no chance against the League since his forces are easy for us to defeat." Sean said.
"Yeah that makes sense. What about Varrick?" Korra asked seeing him walking away.
"Not so fast!" Sean yelled pulling him towards him making him yell in shock.
"What?" Varrick asked.
"You're under arrest for attempted murder." Sean said.
"I wasn't gonna kill you. I just needed to take samples to make super soldiers and make Billions. It was just good business. Hell I could actually sell off the Avatar for a couple billion to Markovia since...ARGH!" Varrick yelled as Sean squeezed his shoulder tightly making it pop.
"Mention that hellhole again and I'll skin you." Sean said knowing how much Terra hated her former home.
"I heard it." Terra said walking to them as she kicked Varrick in the balls making him groan in pain.
"So...Care to tell us what happened?" Toph asked.
"Unalaq is in league with the brotherhood of Evil. And now we think he wanted that portal opened up for a reason." Sean said.
"Oh yeah? Like what?" Terra asked.
Later
"So let me get this straight Unalaq is in league with the Brotherhood of Evil." Batman said.
"We've dealt with them before. It only makes sense they would try and gain new allies." Sean said.
"The Doom Patrol has been looking for them for years." Beastboy said.
"Weren't you once part of that group?" Cyborg asked.
"Till Mento kicked him out for saving his life along with the whole team. Hence why we haven't offered them a place in the League or the Wolfpack." Sean said. (I always hated the Doom patrol after seeing them in Teen Titans. Especially Mento)
"I know Mento has issues but we could still use his help." Beastboy said.
"No." Everyone said.
"He's arrogant and willing to sacrifice his own team way too willingly even if he has a chance to help them. We are not asking for his help." Sean said.
"Not only that he would try to take command of the League saying we'd be lost without him." Korra said.
"The answer is no." Lantern said.
"Wow I didn't realize everyone hated the doom patrol so much." Terra said.
"The entire group? No. Just him. And for good reason." Sean said.
"What do you mean?" Blackfire asked.
"Shortly after the League was formed he tried to disband it saying we were over our heads and the Doom patrol was suited to protecting the world." Korra said.
"He's an arrogant fuckhead." Sean said.
"So putting that aside we need to know what Unalaq and the Brotherhood are after and we need to know now." Batman said.
Later
Sean and Korra had arrived at Raiko's office to discuss what happened.
"What do you mean He rejected our appointment." Korra said.
"He said he has nothing to say to any so called heroes." His secretary said.
"What does that mean?" Sean asked.
"It means I don't want anything to do with any of you so called heroes." Raiko said walking out glaring at them.
"What do you mean SO CALLED? We are heroes. We help people." Korra said.
"And that is why I hate you." Raiko said.
"What?" Sean asked glaring.
"We don't need heroes. What we need is obedience and a will to follow. People like you get in the way of that. Hence why I plan to end all ties with your universe and eventually I will convince the other nations to join me and go to war with yours. Ending you heroes once and for all." Raiko said.
"You are pathetic. No different than Luthor." Sean said.
"He was a true hero in my eye. Hence the reason I plan to continue where he sadly left off because of you. Your time is coming to an end." Raiko said leaving.
"Unbelievable. I thought we did background checks on people before the campaigns went off." Korra said.
"We did. He must have hidden his true objectives real good. We need to keep a close eye on him." Sean said.
Later
"So Raiko won't help?" Lantern asked.
"Nope. He hates heroes because in his view it stops all the GOOD things he likes. Slavery and the likes. He's probably in league with the brotherhood." Korra said.
"I don't think so. I just think he wants the worst of what people fear." Batman said.
"We'll deal with him later." Sean said.
Later
Sean and Korra were asleep in their home.
As Sean slept however something unexpected happened in his mind.
Sean looked around seeing himself in his gear walking around a white area.
"Where...Am I?" Sean asked.
"I have summoned you here." A voice said making him look around.
"Who are you?" Sean asked.
"I am the one who made you as you are today."
"Really? How come I can't see you?" Sean asked.
"My identity is not be known until the time is right."
"Ok. So why are you contacting me now. I'm in the middle of something because of Unalaq and his bullshit." Sean said.
"I know. That is why I have made contact with you. I know what Unalaq is planning with the brotherhood of Evil."
"And what is that? I assume they're trying to weaponize the Spirits because they have unknown potential." Sean said.
"In some ways that is true. But that is not what they are trying to do. No. To understand this you must know the origin of the Avatar Cycle that began 10,000 years ago during the last convergence."
"The what?" Sean asked before the place changed showing a man in ancient clothes. "Who's he?" Sean asked.
"That is the first Avatar, Wan. He was originally no one who lived with spirits when Man believed it was impossible. By accident or Fate depending on your view he released two powerful spirits from one another after one of them made it look like he was a victim. In truth this other spirit was trying to contain him."
"So who are they?" Sean asked they appeared. One with a light color and blue markings while another was dark with red markings.
"They are known as Raava and Vaatu. Spirits of light and Darkness. Vaatu gains his power from causing chaos while Raava gains her's from justice and Light. Once they were separated however though he got stronger."
"And she got weaker."
"Indeed. Wanting to make amends Wan learned the other elements and eventually in a year confronted Vaatu during the convergence which is when the planets are perfectly aligned every 10,000 years. During that point he merged with Raava and imprisoned him within the tree of time in the spirit world. And wanting to make sure and spirits never fought again most of the spirits left the physical world with only a handful remaining here."
"So thats how the Avatar cycle started...Wait a minute...Unalaq wants to merge with Vaatu to become a Dark Avatar." Sean theorized.
"Indeed. And then he will destroy this world and remake it in his image to make everyone like him or they will die. And then he'll go to your universe and destroy it so the Brotherhood can remake it in their image before going around the Multiverse...Starting with your God Slayer counterpart's universe since he's a bigger threat since he killed gods single handedly."
"I have to stop him before that." Sean said.
"You must do so quickly. The Convergence is only 10 days away."
"Before I go theres a couple things I need to ask." Sean said.
"Very well. What do you wish to know?"
"Why me? Why was I chosen for this? I mean I don't even like doing what I do. I prefer a normal life but I do what I do because I know it's the right thing to do." Sean said.
"And that is what makes you the perfect choice. A man who prefers a simple life but does what he knows what is right is the perfect choice. I did at one point try to make others like you but they all ended in failure because they could not tell the difference between good and evil as you do. They were all disposed of. Then I realized it couldn't be made like they were. No, a savior needed to be born and raised the right way. Hence why I had history altered giving you traits of certain individuals before you were born."
"And...Grendel? Where does he fit into this? He says I took everything from him. So clearly at some point I did something wrong to him." Sean said.
"I can't answer that because even I don't know. He wasn't part of the original timeline in Either universe. Whatever his grudge against you is I don't think you did to him intentionally."
Thats when the whole place changed.
Sean woke up with a groan as he looked around before seeing Korra.
"Hmmmm? Whats wrong?" Korra asked.
Later
"Let me get this straight. Unalaq wants to unleash this dark spirit called Vaatu so he can merge with him and become a dark Avatar?" Batman asked as Sean told him everything.
"It makes sense. What better way for him to gain unlimited power. We know he wants to make people like him completely but he lacks the power to do so by himself even before he had lost the Tribe because of the truth coming out. But with Vaatu he had a sure fire proof way of getting that if he can merge with him." Sean said.
"And how did you learn about this?" Superman asked.
"From the guy who made me into what I am." Sean said shocking them.
"He contacted you?" Batman asked.
"In my sleep. Told me everything. He doesn't know anything about Grendel though. One thing he does know is that Unalaq wants to merge with Vaatu like Wan did with Raava 10,000 years ago during the Convergence." Sean said.
"And when he does that...He'll start destroying everything and everyone he hates in this world before moving onto the others." Korra said.
"Starting with my Godslayer counterpart's universe. Most likely to try and remove the biggest threat to him since if he could slay gods he knows he would be the biggest threat to him." Sean said.
"We need to get the rest of the League." Superman said.
"You do tha. We're gonna go and see Tenzin." Korra said.
"If we can get into the spirit world and close that other gate we might be able to stop him." Sean said.
"Go." Batman said.
Later
"Say we do stop him and prevent him from merging with Vaatu...What then?" Korra asked.
"What do you mean?" Sean asked.
"Whats to stop Vaatu from trying again?" Korra asked.
"Good question. We'll figure that out later since right now we need to get to Tenzin and fast." Sean said as they flew off.
Authors Note: This was supposed to be Updated yesterday but I fell asleep the second I got home and forgot. I was dead tired because work is killing me.
