The D&D Chronicles: The Adventure Begins
Chapter 2: High School Zeroes
Brady Oaks High School
Brady Oaks High School was the place where students would go to learn, read and write, learning much of the history of the past to prepare themselves for the future.
Students of all shapes and sizes (as well as all ages) were welcomed here, alongside exchange students from different parts of the world, such as for example Arabia, China and Africa.
Of course, like all other schools, they always have summer and winter holidays off, alongside a few half term off as well.
It was here that Patrick, his sisters and his friends would head over every week, heading to what lessons they had for the day.
One of the first lessons for today was World History in Classroom A113, taught by Mr. Rodney Sturges. Rodney Sturges was a tall, near middle-aged man with a generally warm appearance. With his gray hair, sweater vests, and slacks, he almost donned the appearance of a kindly father or grandfather, matching his relationship with his students at the school. He also had somewhat wrinkled skin, that's fair in color, with blue eyes, and a rather large nose.
Mr. Sturges also had a very good bond with Patrick Lee Kirby, being his favourite pupil in class, as the young boy would sometimes look to him for guidance and helpful advice, and even saw him as a bit of a father-figure at times.
Yet, today, as Mr. Sturges was busy talking about the Peloponnesian War and the three individual wars that made it up, Patrick and his friends were a little occupied about the strange find they discovered.
Thankfully, none of them needed to sneak out their phones for a quick search on the internet. The school was well-funded enough to supply the class with laptops for their research, which delightfully gave them use to look up anything concerning shiny, talking amulets.
Well… Patrick's friends were, as Patrick meanwhile was distracted by something - or someone - shinier.
The person in question was a beautiful and a little petite girl, like Patrick, a young woman who would soon be 17 as well, Caucasin, who had mid-back length blonde hair with fringes that initially cover the left side of her face and small bangs in front of her ears, amethyst purple eyes and light freckles across the bridge of her nose.
She had on a purple jacket, with a lavender turtleneck shirt that had a cute, chibi rabbit on it, a dark purple skirt with greyish purple leggings and grey shoes.
Her name was Victoria Belle, who was one of the top students at Brady Oaks, not to mention a bit of a high school beauty queen, though she wasn't one of the mean queen bee types, she was kind, gentle and caring, and was praised for her work ethic around the classes she took part in.
Patrick has had a crush on her for a very long time, ever since they first met at kindergarten, they were very good friends, but seemingly drifted away a little over time. Now there she was, at the same age of 16, and looked like a princess.
"Close your mouth," Patrick heard his sister whisper from behind, "You're no doubt drooling…"
"No I'm not…" Patrick, still entranced with looking at Victoria, before remembering about why they were on the internet.
He then looked to Chris who was on his right, and asked, "Chris, could you look up 'talking amulets'?"
"I did," Chris replied, "and all I could find about talking amulets are all just toys. One of them's even a plushie."
Patrick had a thought then suggested, "Try 'real silver talking amulets that glint in different colours'."
"You could, perhaps, type up what we're learning." Taylor pointed out, getting Patrick's attention, "We should be focusing on the lesson at hand before-"
"Wouldn't you agree?" Mr. Sturges' voice spoke up, getting Patrick's attention, as the boy realized the teacher was right by his side.
"-we get busted." Taylor grumbled, quietly facepalming, while all eyes looked to Patrick, unnoticed.
"Um… sir?" Patrick innocently asked.
"With Herodotus' opinion on his tactics of war, as I've described." Mr. Sturges calmly reminded him, a smile still on his face.
Patrick quietly gulped, he didn't know the answer, and he had to say something to save face.
"Oh, um… yes," Patrick grinned, confident, "absolutely."
Tragically, however, Mr. Sturges saw right through him and fired back immediately. "Excellent. Which tactics, specifically?"
"Um… the winning ones?"
This earned a small laugh from the classroom, as Patrick looked to his teacher shyly, while his sister shook her head, fingers on the bridge of her nose.
Soon the bell rang, and class was dismissed.
"Don't forget," Mr. Sturges reminded most of the class as they started to leave, "Michealson, chapters four and five."
The teacher then looked to Patrick, as he was starting to pack his things, and said, "Patrick, may I have a word?"
Patrick looked a little nervous, he didn't realize that his bag fell over his desk, spilling out most of his stuff (luckily the amulet didn't fall out), and began to put it all back in.
He looked to his friends and sister, as Chris replied with a nervous grin, "We'll catch you later."
Patrick returned the nervous smile with his own, before looking to his teacher as he began helping him with his things.
"Patrick, it seems to me that you're distracted, more so than ever," Mr. Sturges said, picking up a few of Patrick's books, most of them drawing books (Patrick enjoyed doing some drawing some times), "You a little bit dozed off during the Invasion of Attica and the Peace of Nicias, and you drifted away for the rest of the class."
"I know, Mr. Sturges, I'm sorry," Patrick gave a small sad smile, "a lot is in my mind at the moment since last night."
"D&D?" Mr. Sturges asked, getting Patrick's attention, as the young man looked to see his teacher smirking, and holding one of his 20-sided dice.
Nervously chuckled, Patrick replied, "Well… yes that, but also had to sort things out…"
"With the matter of family, my boy?" his teacher then asked.
Patrick nodded as Mr. Sturges spoke, "I understand that it's just you, your siblings and your mother, but remember that you also have to focus on your studies, as well as working on what's happening back at home."
"I know, Mr. Sturges," Patrick smiled, as he chuckled as he said, "though it's sort of like what my dad would say, 'You either working hard, or hardly working'."
Mr. Sturges chuckled at that as he said, "Your father must have been quite an inspiration to you."
Patrick smiled, "Yeah… he was. Ever since he passed away, I have had to do what I can to help my mum and my sisters."
"He'd be proud of you, Patrick," Mr. Sturges smiled, "and be sure to make him prouder in doing well in your classes too."
Patrick had a small bit of thought on that, then looked to Mr. Sturges as he replied, "I'll try."
"What was it that that green Jedi from Star Wars said that you once told me?" Mr. Sturges said with a grin.
This earned another grin from Patrick as he replied, "Do, or Do Not. There is no Try. Yoda. His name was."
Both student and teacher chuckled a little, until it was time for Patrick to get going.
"Just remember that if you need any help or advice, my door is always open. And speaking about parents, I believe I'm needing a meeting with your mother," Mr. Sturges said, as he wrote down his phone number on a piece of paper, "have her call me, please."
Mr. Sturges handed the phone number to Patrick, who looked at it and then said, "I'll keep that in mind."
"Good." Mr. Sturges smiled before saying, "Also, one more thing."
Patrick looked to his teacher as he smiled with a knowing grin on his lips, "If you fancy Miss Belle, I submit that talking to her would be much more effective than… staring at."
Patrick smiled at that and headed out of the classroom, thinking of what Mr. Sturges suggested.
Main Hallway, outside Principal's Office
Patrick walked down the main hallway, passing by a few other students to avoid bumping into them and causing trouble, until he looked to see Taylor, Callum (who oddly was covered in what looked like foam from the shoulders, and a little bit was in his hair), Chris and Chuckie talking to Luz and the twins… who were sitting outside the Principal's office.
"Oh boy, this again…" Patrick sighed, as he approached most of his friends.
"Hey there, guys." he greeted.
"Hi Patrick," Luz smiled, who was holding a snake in one hand and a doll, seemingly taking the likeness of Azura in the other, "how did Mr. Sturges go?"
"Oh, it went alright." Patrick shrugged a little, "He was just talking about home and stuff like that."
He looked at what Luz had in her hands and asked, "So… what's that you got here?"
"Oh, this is my book report of Azura," Luz explained, as the snake, revealed to be a life one, instantly took a bite on the doll's head, much to the surprise of her friends, "I think I knocked it out of the park."
"Luz, that book report is what got you here." Callum stated, gesturing to two nearby students in panic, as they had a snake each biting on their hair.
"Oh, so that's where the backup snakes went." Luz said, a little surprised.
"And what about… this?" Patrick asked, as he picked up next to her what looked like a big firework, with several small fireworks strapped on it.
"That's for Act 3 closer." Luz admitted.
"Well, you're lucky you didn't set it off, like what the twins did with their volcano!" Callum fumed, eyeing the twins, who both showed off innocent grins, "they ended up adding more baking soda into their volcano for an 'extra bang' and it blew up in our faces!"
It's true that the twins usually got on each other's nerves sometimes, but as I said, they did work together a bit during D&D, but most times, they also had a small mischievous side, letting them get in all sorts of trouble at times.
"All worth it." they both grinned.
Patrick eyed them for a short while, before looking to Luz and stated, "At least you're much easier to manage than the twins."
Luz giggled a little on that.
"But seriously though, as much as I enjoy your creativity as much you mine, you need to not take it to the extreme." Patrick pointed out.
"I suppose so…" Luz nodded a little.
Patrick then added, "Besides, don't you remember the last 2 times you were sent to the principal's office?"
How could they forget…
Incident 1
When Patrick and most of his friends were in different classes, one of them that he enjoyed was the art class, where Patrick and any of his friends that took part with him would bring out their creativity.
Unfortunately, when Luz was among them during one lesson, she decided on making a model of a hippogriff.
"Not bad hippogriff, Luz." Patrick complimented her.
"Thanks, Patrick." She said as she had just finished it when she then said, "And now, for the final anatomically correct touch, spider breath."
Opening up the model's beak, a load of spiders came out, crawling around the classroom, most ending up on her and most of the classmates, resulting in a panic.
Incident 2
It was during the cheerleader tryouts at the gym, as several of the girls at school were showing off their best tricks, unfortunately, Luz was part of the tryouts.
"If you think that's an impressive trick?" she said after witnessing one of the girls performing an acrobat trick, "Take a look at this!"
Dropping her pom-poms, Luz soon pulled back her eyelids, revealing them to everyone as she chirped, "Bleep-bloop-bleep!"
This, of course, horrified the cheerleader girls as they started to run upon seeing Luz's trick.
Present Day
"I just like to express what I can do," Luz explained, "besides, I learned a bit of it from you."
"Touche." Patrick shrugged, "But still, do you want to end up spending the summer we've been planning at a reality check summer camp?"
Luz had a bit of thought on that, then nodded in agreement as she stood up, "I guess you're right on that. No more disasters!"
Unfortunately, as she said that, the snake escaped her hand and slithered to one of the teachers walking by, and attacked him on the leg.
"Ah! My leg!" he cried out, being witnessed by the worrisome group.
Their moment of silence was broken as Luz looked to her friends with worry and asked, "That doesn't count, right?"
"Yeah, let's hope not." Patrick said, as he and the others hurried away from the scene.
"By the way, did you manage to find out about that amulet?" Luz asked, deciding to change the subject.
"Wait, what amulet?" Callum asked.
"Don't worry," Chris replied, "I'll explain on the way to class."
Gym/Assembly Hall
While Patrick and his friends would be in different classes, one of the lessons that they would all take part in was, of course, gym class, where they would get into their gym gear and take part in different activities..
Patrick and a few of his friends weren't quite fans of gym, or sports for that matter, but they had to do what they have to do to be fit at times.
Gym was run by Coach Cruz, who was a tall, buff man, roughly in his 60s, and is usually seen in his typical gym clothes, like his sweatpants, t-shirt and a Rocky cap (Rocky was his favourite film series).
He was also given the nickname of Coach Crunch, as not only that he enjoys Captain Crunch cereal for breakfast (one bowl as he makes sure to diet well), but has the tendency to telling his students to 'Crunch hard' on whatever sports or exercise they have to do.
At the moment Patrick, Chris and Luz (all in gym uniforms) were currently supporting Chuckie (also in his gym outfit), who was doing his best on the rope climb exercise, as he was currently climbing ¼ of the rope.
"That's it, Chuckie! You can do it!" Patrick cheered.
"You got this!" Chris added.
"Alright, I got this!" Chuckie said, struggling up the rope, but doing his best at climbing.
"That's it!" Luz cheered, "He's up! He's up!"
Chuckie was doing well… until he slipped and landed back on the pad with a thud.
"And he's down." Luz looked to their fallen chubby friend.
"Wolowitz!" Coach Cruz said, approaching them, "This is no time for snoozefest, is it?"
"Yes, coach…" Chuckie said tiredly, before snapping back as he quickly responded, "I mean, no, coach! It isn't."
"You know the rules, Wolowitz!" the coach snapped, gesturing to the rope and pointing to a bell at the very top end of the rope, "the task is to climb this rope and ring that bell!"
"Yes, coach…" Chuckie responded.
"You need to crunch hard, Wolowitz!" Coach Cruz continued, "I don't want to see any jelly in that gut. I need iron, Wolowitz! Iron!"
As Coach Cruz continued ranting a little, Patrick turned and saw Victoria and some of her friends, most of them different ages, giggling and chatting a little.
One of them was Annie Bush, a 15 year Thai-American girl with a little slender build, light brown skin, messy brown hair and blue eyes.
There was also a 15 year old girl called Nancy Lu, a Chinese-American who was tall and slim, with dark skin, short, shiny black hair and lime green eyes.
Both Annie and Nancy have been best friends for a long time since childhood, while Annie is shown as a little adventurous and had a keen interest of reptiles, especially that of frogs, while Nancy, despite being a little clumsy, she was quite a bit of a gamer, having like to play retro video games from time to time, and even had a small interest of the game of D&D.
Another girl with them, aged 15 was Samamtha Maylight, who was a little bit taller than Annie or Nancy, with a little slender build like the former, Caucasian, with blonde hair like Victoria, but it was tied in a ponytail, with almond-shape eyes and pink pupils.
Samamtha was basically a little bit of the opposite of Victoria most times, as she has a bit of an ego and would look down a little on any nerds that came her way.
Next to them was Harley Dott, an African-American girl with light-tan skin, sort of like Annie, 16 of age, and brown hair that was worn in a large afro.
Harley has been close friends with Victoria for a long time, much like Patrick and Chris, due to sometimes talking about their favorite interests, and sometimes dating.
Patrick looked to Victoria, and decided to follow Mr. Sturges' advice in talking to her, so he carefully walked forward and approached the girls.
"Hey there, Victoria." Patrick smiled, as he gave a small wave hello, getting the girls' attention.
"Oh great…" Samamtha rolled her eyes, "Nerd alert."
"Oh, hey there, Patrick." Victoria smiled, ignoring what Samamtha said, "How are you doing?"
"Oh, well… great…" Patrick replied, hoping to try and break the ice with a small conversation, but stammered a little, "I was w-wondering about if… that is, if you're not doing anything…"
"Invite us to your next D&D game?!" Nancy gleefully spoke up, surprising most of the group.
The girls looked to Nancy baffled, who then replied, "What? I think it's neat."
"Well, not that," Patrick replied, before adding, "but I'll be sure to put a word to it."
Nancy smiled happily on that, until Samamtha groaned.
"C'mon, girls, let's go somewhere else to talk about something other than make believe." she said, a little rude, and headed.
Patrick sadly sighed a little as the other girls started to get up to follow her, but then Victoria stopped, looked at Patrick and asked, "Do you like Shakespear?"
"What?"
"Shakespear?" Victoria said, as she then handed him a flyer of what looked like a school play.
Patrick looked at it and realized what she meant, as the flyer was for the upcoming play of Shakespear's Romeo and Juliet.
"Oh, yes," Patrick replied, "I know a bit about Shakespear."
Victoria smiled, "Great. It's for the school play. We need a bit of help getting boys to audition. I've heard that you do good performances in these D&D things you do as a… Dungeon Master, was it?"
Patrick nodded, as she then continued, "So I think it might suit you, if you like."
"I'm sure anyone would be happy to join in." Patrick responded.
"Indeed," Victoria replied, "there'll also be main auditions soon for the role of Romeo and Juliet."
"I bet you'll do great as Juliet." Patrick said, though quickly facepalmed on that, he then looked and saw Victoria giggle.
"Of course, she'll do a great Juliet!" Annie replied in support, before looking to Patrick, "Unless you don't suppose there's anyone else who could do a good job."
Patrick was about to reply before a moment of thought came to him and wondered what would happen if someone else played Juliet…
What if it was…
In his mind, he pictured Luz, dressed in a beautiful dress, acting as Juliet, until she reached the death scene where Juliet dies.
"O happy dagger, give me death!" she cried, stabbing herself in the heart with the prop dagger, then gagged as she withdrew sausages (like they were intestines).
The other actors and peers panic and scream upon seeing this, all the while Patrick looked on in disbelief, before applying the following rules.
Raise your hand.
Open palm.
Connect palm to face.
Back to reality, and quick thinking, Patrick instantly looked back to the girls.
"Oh no," Patrick replied with a little nervous chuckle, "if anyone can do it, it's you, Vicky."
Victoria giggled a little, stroking a bit of her hair, before leaving with the girls, "See you later."
Patrick looked to Victoria as she and her friends left, and a small smile on his face as he looked onto Victoria.
Luz soon came up, a goofy, knowing grin on her face as she then said, "Smooth move, Casanova."
The smile turned into a deadpan frown as he muttered, "Oh hush, you…"
Boys' Locker Room
"You actually talked to Victoria?" Chris asked, a smile of interest on his face, as he and the others were nearly done getting changed back to their usual uniforms after gym.
"Heh, you can thank Mr. Sturges on that advice." Patrick smiled, as he then looked to the amulet that he found, then to the flyer that Victoria gave her.
"Maybe you should do it." Callum suggested.
Patrick looked to him and asked, "Do what?"
"The school play for Romeo and Juliet." Callum replied, "It's worth giving it a try."
"And you might be performing with Victoria." Chuckie grin, as he was busy struggling to get one of his socks on.
Patrick scratched the back of his head, blushing a little, "I don't know… I'm not sure if I'd be a good actor…"
"Are you kidding?" Chuckie responded, "We've known you doing great voice impressions of your favourite cartoon characters, not to mention impersonation of all NPCs during our campaigns."
"Besides, didn't you say you were wanting a little adventure? A bit of excitement?" Chris asked Patrick, reminding him of what he said this morning.
"Well, yeah…" Patrick shrugged, as he looked back at the amulet, "It's just that I don't mean I just want my life to be exciting. I mean... MORE. I just need to know that there's something more to life than high school."
"If it makes you any better, I kind of feel the same way sometimes," Callum pointed out, "I mean, as being the stepson of the Mayor of Brady Oaks, Ezran and I have to do what we can to follow in his example at times."
Patrick nodded about that, as he heard about that long while back, Callum's mother got remarried to Harrow Regal, who was the proud long time mayor of Brady Oaks, who is also Ezran's dad as well, and that while their father (stepfather in Callum's case) was an important person, they still had to do objectives, study and of course, be free to make their own paths as any normal kid would.
Just then, as his friends continued chatting, Patrick thought he heard something, and as he turned, he could have sworn that he saw something disappearing into the shower room.
Walking carefully away from his friends, Patrick walked to the shower room, and looked inside.
Steam was let off inside the shower room, like a foggy day inside a building, making it a little difficult at times to see something… or someone…
Looking into the shower room, Patrick seemingly spotted the object quickly run by at the end of the room, catching him a little off guard, but still he pressed onward, creeping towards the location where the object went and-
"Hey, Patrick!"
Patrick yelped a little as Raph's voice startled him.
"Where are you, man? Chuckie finally got a sock on his foot!"
"Ha, ha, very funny." Chuckie's voice spoke up following this, not amused.
Patrick shook his head a little, and a small small came on his face as he went over back to his friends…
Unaware back in the shower room, a mysterious being was watching him within the misty room…
A little later, as both boys and girls got back together, they were currently walking down the hallway where most of the lockers were, until they came across Hilda, Ezran and two other young kids, about Hilda's age.
One of them was a light brown skinned girl, with black hair that was tied in a ponytail, wearing a teal hoodie with a red stripe, black pants, and white shoes.
Her name was Frida Owens, one of Hilda and Ezran's good friends, who was strong minded, intelligent and highly organized at times, and even always makes detailed plans for just about anything and everything.
Alongside her was David Fergus, a Caucasian boy who was a little bit taller than Hilda, who wore an orange, long-sleeved shirt, black shorts, white socks and grey shoes.
Like Frida, David has been good friends with Hilda and Ezran since the first day of school, he often tended to be quick to be scared, easily distracted and sometimes a little clumsy, leading to the others to help him overcome his fears.
There is also a bit of a habit of David seemingly getting a bug on him sometimes, as they seem to get attracted to him at times.
"Hey there, sis!" Patrick greeted his little sister, as Patrick's group approached Hilda's group.
"Hey there, Patrick." Hilda smiled.
"Hi!" Frida and David waved, Ezran smiled to see Callum as well.
"Oop, hold on…" Patrick said, as he approached David, checking on his shirt, before finding a ladybug on him and blew him off, "there we go, David, bug-free."
"Thanks for that." David said.
"I take it that you kids had a good day?" Luz said with a smile.
Oddly enough, Hilda, Ezran, Frida and David looked to each other, and had unsure looks upon their faces, until Ezran said, "It was good, but… was Harry with any of you today?"
Patrick and his friends looked at each other then, until Patrick looked back to the kids, "No, isn't he with you?"
"You see-" Hilda was about to say something until a bang of a locker door with some cruel laughter got both groups attention.
Turning to the direction of the sounds, there was a group formed of 3 boys and a girl, seeming at ages between 17 - 19, seeming laughing as they were currently standing in front of a locker.
This meant only one thing: bullies were picking on someone and stuffed him/her in a locker.
Patrick quietly groaned and had an uneasy look on his face as he realized what was going and who was causing trouble.
It was none other than High School bully and one of the best players of the Mighty Moles basketball team, Biff Tennant.
Biff Tennant was described as your everyday jock bully, while he looked a little handsome, strong and athletic, he was also someone you don't want to cross paths with.
Biff was a Caucasian at the age of 19, a few years older than Patrick or most of his friends, he had very short ginger hair and navy blue eyes. He had on a vermillion letter jacket with white sleeves, with the letters B and O in capitals, while on the back had a picture of a cartoon-like mole showing off it's muscles like Popeye, with the words 'Mighty Moles' underneath it, under the jacker was a t-shirt of the band, Meat Loaf, tan jeans and black shoes with yellow laces.
One of the boys with him was Caucasian, aged 17, had brownish-blonde shaggy hair with a pair of classic 3-D glasses with the red and blue lenses on him, and wore a grey hooded jacket with a bluish green t-shirt underneath, with shaggy navy blue jeans and white sneakers.
The other boy was about 19 years old as well, African-American, with half greased hair, wore an earring on his left ear, a sleeveless dark blue shirt with tan trousers and blue vans.
The girl, meanwhile, was at 18 of age, Pouter-Rican/American, with short, brownish-black hair with tips of the hair dyed blue, she had on a black long sleeve shirt that ended above her belly button, with the sleeves rolled up mid her forearms, and had on greenish-blue shorts with grey shoes. And was currently chewing on some bubble gum.
They were, respectively, Jack Lake, Terrance Churchel and June Hawkins, while Jack and June were also known by their nicknames as 3-D and Sticky.
"So, tell me again, dweeb, what was it you saw this morning?" Patrick heard Biff ask the person inside the locker.
"Monsters! I swear Biff!" came the voice inside the locker, a young boy, who sounded like he was almost on the verge of tears, while Biff and his cronies chuckled upon hearing this, "It looked like a humanoid dragon fighting a large troll!"
Patrick recognized the voice, as it belonged to Jim Byers, who could described as a super-nerd and geek extraordinaire (mostly by those who like to pick on him), who was a little awkward and had times of trying to fit in, and sadly it made him the perfect punching bag for bullies, most mainly Biff and his cronies.
Patrick looked to Biff and his gang having a laugh picking on Jim, a frown his face as he then said, "We should do something…"
"What?! No way!" Chuckie panicked, as he has been known for getting picked on by Biff as well, "If Brute Biff is terrorizing Jim, then he's not terrorizing us!"
But Patrick stepped forward anyway, much to the worry of his friends, as they slowly followed him to try and reel him out of it.
Patrick soon approached Biff and his gang as he heard Biff speak to Jim, "Tell us more about the creatures you saw, and then I might let you out."
"Hey, Biff!" Patrick called out.
This got the bullies' attention, as Biff turned and saw Patrick standing there, then let out a smirky grin, "Well, well, if it ain't ol' Kirby."
"I don't want any trouble here," Patrick explained, "just open the locker and let Jim out of there."
"Mind your own business, Kirby!" Biff growled, before smirking as he said, "Me and the lads are having a sometime with Jimmy, here."
Biff opened the locker, revealing, stuffed in the locker, was young Jim, who was a very petite teenage Caucasin boy, about Luz's age, with messy blackish brown hair parted to the left and shorter on the sides, fair skin, and brown eyes. He also happened to be rather scrawny and short as he was not very athletic. He wore a light green v-neck T-shirt, light brown cargo shorts, a black belt with a silver buckle, white socks, dark teal square glasses, and black trainers with stockings.
"Hi, Patrick." Jim could muster, before Biff slammed the locker shut.
Biff then looked back to the victim in the locker and said, "Now, about those creatures, this dragon and troll. They were vicious with fangs and… what was it they had?"
"Scales and stony skin respectively!" Jim's voice pointed.
Biff's gang chuckled at that, until 3-D spoke up, "Ha, I bet a troll can also grind someone's bones for their bread."
"Actually that would be for a giant." Hilda's voice got the group and Patrick off guard, as Hilda was now standing next to her brother as she then said, "Now, a troll… they could be much worse."
Patrick was about to ask what she was doing, until Hilda started to act creepy as she explained, "For trolls, they'll make a suit from your freshly peeled skin, shave your liver and squeeze the jelly from your eyes!" she then smiled as she added, "Which would be quite good on toast for a troll. Oh, and they can steal your socks too, but only the left ones, I mean, what's with that."
"Aw, look, it's Blueberry girl!" Biff smirked, as he then saw the rest of Patrick's friends as he added, "And the rest of the Goonies are here, too!"
Terrance had a good look at the group, then looked to Biff as he said, "Hold up, I think one of them's missing."
"You're right," June said, as she raised an eyebrow as she asked, "Where's that little mama's boy? Harry?"
Patrick looked to the group, as a small bit of confusion came on his face… with a hidden bit of concern, especially as Hilda got his attention as she said to him, "That's what I meant, Harry wasn't with us all day."
Patrick was a little uneasy on hearing that, then decided to put that on hold at the moment as he looked at the bullies, "We're not sure at the moment. But right now, we would really appreciate it if you let Jim go. Now."
"I'll let him out when I want to, Kirby." Biff half smirked, "And I don't want to."
"Do it now."
"No." Biff grinned.
"You're a big meanie, you know that." Hilda stepped in.
Biff was shocked at what a little girl just called her, though, while he was a little nervous for her safety, Patrick was proud of Hilda at the moment.
But that soon shot down as he saw Biff curl up a smile as he asked Jim, "Plenty of space in there for ya, Byers?"
"Uh… yeah? Pretty good space?" Jim replied, a little uneasy.
"Good…" Biff said, as he looked to Hilda, who suddenly realized what he was probably going to do as he added, "Room for one more!"
Biff grabbed hold of Hilda by the arm, planning to stuff her in with Jim, but suddenly, someone else grabbed Biff's arm, causing the bully to release Hilda, revealing that it was Patrick, as he angrily snarled, "STAY AWAY FROM HER, BUFORD!"
During the whole incident, a few of the other students, all different ages, shapes and sizes, were witnessing what was going on, and at that moment, they gasped at what Patrick just said.
If there was one thing that Biff didn't like, was being called by his real name: Buford.
That moment of courage faded a little for Patrick as he gulped, "Crud… I just said your real name, didn't I?"
Oddly, Biff remained calm, though Patrick feared that he was up to something, as he then said, "There 2 rules everyone needs to know, 1. The Strongest make the Rules, and 2. Don't ever peeve me off. I made rule 1."
He then slammed Patrick onto the door of the locker where Jim was, as he then added, "You broke rule 2."
"Please don't hurt him!" Jim spoke out.
"Shut up, foureyes!" Biff snarled.
"If you want to hit me then do it," Patrick said, holding his ground a bit, "just let Jim go."
"How about I don't, and I still get to turn you into roadkill!" Biff growled.
"Do it! Do it!" Sticky grinned.
"I got my camera ready!" 3-D smirked, holding up his phone, set to record this moment.
Patrick looked back to Biff, who looked like a wild bull having seen the red cape of the bullfighter, before still standing his ground as he said, "Go ahead them, hit me with your best shot."
He then smirked proudly as he then said, "But know that in 20 years time, you'll be ending up as couch potato deadbeat, and Jim here will be the head of running the biggest cutting-edge technology company you could ever imagine!"
"I am great at computers!" Jim said, happily.
"Can it!" Biff snarled, banging on the locker door.
Deciding to help support Patrick, Luz started to chant, "Let him out! Let him out!"
Hilda and the others got what she was doing and followed her lead, one by one, soon all of the students were chanting along, as Patrick looked at what he and Biff were hearing.
"Let him out! Let him out! Let him out!" the chants continued, as Biff grew more and more angry, deciding to end this, raised his fist to punch Patrick in the face.
Then another voice shouted out, breaking the chant.
"What is going here?!"
The students, along with Patrick, his friends and Biff and his gang turned to see Coach Cruz, standing there, arms crossed, with a serious look on his face, as he then turned to Biff.
"Buford Tennant, what have we discussed?" he said, "If you have aggression, work on the field, not the students!"
"B-but I wasn't!" Biff tried to lie.
But like Mr. Sturges with Patrick, Cruz looked at him and sarcastically said, "Sure you weren't."
He then exclaimed, "Head down to the field for practice, Tennant! ASAP!"
Once the coach and most of the students started to leave, Biff looked to Patrick, who was now thinking that he was now staring in front of a Grim Reaper itself.
"This ain't over, Kirby." he snarled through gritted teeth, "You. Me. Outside. Friday."
As he left, 3-D and Terrance made a bit of fun and acted like a ticking clock as they chanted "Tick-tock. Tick-tock."
Biff looked back and then said, "Next time I see you, get ready to race the music!"
As Biff and his cronies walked off, laughing, Patrick grumbled, "It's face the music, idiot."
Once he was gone, Patrick turned back to the locker and opened the door, allowing Jim to come out.
Though he tumbled out with, oddly a chirpy yelp, before happily saying, "Thank you."
"No prob, Jimbo." Patrick gave a kind smirk.
Author's Notes:
Biff's cronies were based off and inspired by both Biff Tannen's gang and Griff's gang respectively, especially with the bully named 3-D and a girl member of the group.
Next time, some unexpected visitors
Until then, True Believers
