Chapter 2 Marcy at the gates

Blake's narration
It been a weird week and half since I started with Anne and the planter's journey to Newtopia hearing all kinds of crazy adventure the group has been on the last 3 months along the way, and if anything, I'm a little jealous I mean I was alone for the past 3 months it was lonely and scary being all alone for all that time.
Normal POV
"Newtopia I can't believe it after a long journey but we're finally almost there." Sprig said
He then noticed the humans looking at a photo with a sad look on their faces
"Guys." Sprig said
"Huh." Anne said
"I thought you two would be more excited." Sprig said
"I am excited, but we been amphibia for weeks now we thought there be some sigh of Marcy but nothing." Anne said looking photo again
"Hey, you found me well I found you but same thing really." Blake said Trying and failing to cheer Anne up
"Maybe that a good thing your last friend was." Sprig said
"HEY." Blake yelled
"Sorry I meant 2nd to last friend was totally evil." Sprig said
"Hey just because Sasha and I are having rough doesn't mean I don't care about her." Anne said
"And since me and Sasha got zap here with Anne that means Marcy did to." Blake said
"Beside Marcy is completely different for Sasha she harmless." Anne said
"If anything, I more scare for her safety." Blake said
"So, what Marcy like." Sprig asked
"She is one nicest and smartest girls you'll ever meet but super oblivious and super clumsy." Blake said
"Back home we were there to protect her but here she alone and instead of kickballs." Anne said
"She could get mauled by elephant scarab or crushed by heron or worse. Sprig said oblivious in the he was making them feel worse." Sprig said before Blake grab him by his jacket with his vine
"Not helping." Blake said with a growl
"Guys come It not gonna believe AAAHHHH just get out here." Polly calling out to them as they exited the fwagon to see a large city with a wall around it in the water.
"There she is kids Newtopia if there's a way to you two home it in that city." Hop pop said
"Then let get down there." Anne said
Anyone cheers at that
A few minutes later
"Well, my feet are soaked." Anne said
"I've had worse." Blake said jokily
Polly was swimming through the water before bumping into
"Hey what made these hole." Polly said
"Best not to ask." Hop pop said before grabbing Polly
"I feel that is will come back later." Polly said
"Hey anyone home." Anne yelling at the large gate
A small blue newt came out of an opening saying. "You can't come in Newtopia is closed"
"What." anyone said upset
"Like closed, closed or just closed for lunch." Anne said
"Newtopia is closed, closed to all outsiders." the blue newt said
"What the hey Why till when." Sprig said
"Until the barbariants are gone good luck out there." the blue newt said before trying to close the door but almost falling out the door which Polly found funny but blue newt was able to get back in and close the door after saying. "I'm ok."
"What a barbariant." Anne asked
"Don't look at me I just as lost as you." Blake said
"Beat me we don't got them in the valley." Hop pop said
"They closed city the because of a few little ants." Sprig said before he was attack for behind by a giant ant. "Big ant really big ant." Sprig said will trying to escape from said ant
"Wolf blast." Blake yelled before firing a golden energy blast from his hand at the ant making it drop Sprig and runway
"In your face ants." Anne said before the ground started to shake and more ants came out of ground before the group
"Starting feel little antsy." Anne said
"Really Anne." Blake with a deadpan
As the ants came closer to the group but before the ants got too close small sacks full of black goo starting raining down forming a circle of goo around the group before a hooded figure firing a flaming arrow at the goo igniting it scaring away the ants as the fire put itself out the figure then fired an arrow with a rope
"Hop pop can have crossbow for my birthday." Polly asked before the arrow hit one of the fwagon wheels
"Will talk." Hop pop said
"Wait a minute." Blake said as his nose pick a very familiar scent as the figure zipline down the rope
"That one cool newt." Hop pop
Unfortunately, the rope snap causing the figure to fall into the water
The figure then started to stand up. "Ok so Newtonian rope can a human girl for 2.3 Seconds maybe is I could reinforce the rope with iron spider silk to increase the tensile strength." The figure said in a female voice not noticing Blake slowly walking toward her
"Marcy." Blake said with tear forming in his eye
"Blake." The figure said before removing her hood revealing herself as Marcy
"Marcy I'm so glad ok I was so worried about you." Blake said as he hugged her a little too tight
"Blake can't breathe." Marcy said her face turning a bit blue
"Oh Sorry." Blake said before letting her go and getting a good look at her she was wearing a brown metal chest plate over a white short sleeve shirt, a green skirt, winter boots, dark gray fingerless gloves, a blue purse and a white furred collar cloak with a hood. "Wow babe you look great like a top ranger or something."
"Thank you and your right I am a ranger and you." Marcy said before looking at Blake. "What the heck happen to you?"
"Oh, I was just lost in the wild swamps of amphibia for the last 3 months before Anne found me." Blake explains.
"Wait Anne." Marcy said
"Marcy." Anne said coming up for behind and hugging her
"Anne you're here too." Marcy said hugging her back
"Yep, I decided to let you lovebirds have your moment." Anne said with a smug look on her face
"Thank for that." Blake said with a blush
"Anne this it really you." Marcy said
"Of course, it me." Anne said as she started to cry tear of joy
"You, me, and Blake here." Marcy said
"I know Blake and I missed you so much." Anne said
"I missed you guys to." Marcy said
"Look at you look at this outfit you're like a warrior queen or something." Anne said
"I know it nut." Marcy said before showing off her crossbow. "This is real."
"Hey, watch where your, pointing that thing." Blake said not wanting to get shoot by an arrow
"Sorry." Marcy said before putting it away
"I gotta tell this place is wild. What an adventure aw man I've really grown out here, come into my own level up no more clumsy klutzy Marcy can believe it." Marcy said
"Your cloak's on fire." Anne said point to the cloak that was indeed on fire
"What how." Marcy yelled in a picnic running around in circles
"Don't swing it around." Blake said
"So, Anne care to who your friend?" Hop pop asked as he, sprig and Polly walked up to them
"Note to self: non-flammable cloak is preferable." Marcy said writing her journal
"How did that even happened you landed in the water?" Blake asked as he and Anne put out the fire
"Guy meets Marcy." Anne said
"Oh my gosh who are those cuties? Are they your surrogate frog family? Did they find you and take you in? Oh, I love the found family trope! Gosh this is just the hero for my favorite game, vagabondia chronicles. The greatest JRPG of all time. Have you played it? Do you wanna play it, borrow it? Just say the word and I'll lend you, my copy. Man, it'll change your lives." Marcy said telling very fast and getting too close to the planters
"Marcy your, scaring them." Blake said
"Um Anne." Sprig said a little scare
"Yep, the planters here take me in." Anne said
"The one you got there is hop pop." Blake said
"62 cm." Marcy said as she measured hop pop head
"Yep, all brain." Hop pop said
"Based on shape of your cranium and flecks of sediment you're from frog valley right." Marcy said writing in her journal
"You can tell all that from my head." Hop pop said
"Aw man Anne I'm so jealous you found a farming community. I've been study amphibia history, and farm culture is super underappreciated in my opinion. There the backbone of society and do not get enough credit for it." Marcy said
Hop pop was at a loss for words after and then shaking Marcy hand saying. "Thank you"
"Hey a pollywog." Marcy picking up Polly and held her up in the direction of the sun and she is looking Polly like an x-ray with her magnifying glass. "Hmm I say those legs should be coming about two months give or take"
"Can I get that in writing?" Polly asked
"Oh yeah, absolutely." Marcy said before she while writing down a note that `legs in in 2 months Marcy' and giving it to Polly before walking over to Sprig
"Oh, and hi there wow I've never seen a frog your color before. You're not poisonous, are you?" Marcy asked before offering him a handshake
"Maybe I am maybe I'm not." Sprig said taking the handshake but giving her the stink eye
"Wait really." Marcy asked
"Yeah, literally actually don't know." Sprig said
"I will iodine that later." Marcy said
"Anyway Mar-Mar have you been in Newtopia this whole time." Anne asked
"Here and there but mostly here. I actually warped right inside the city walls. Pretty lucky what are the odd. Oh, oh okay oh my gosh remember that game Blake and I tried to get you and Sasha to game creature and caverns?" Marcy asked
"No." Anne said
"It turns out newts are just like cephalons." Marcy said
"What." Anne asked
"From shadow of xelnoth." Blake said
"Exactly I just role-played like a typical artificer/rogue and the next thing I know boom I'm the chief ranger of Newtopian knight guard." Marcy said
"Were those word?" Polly asked
"So, Marcy can you get us into the city?" Asked Anne
"We tried before but the guards wouldn't let us in." Blake said
"Unfortunately, those gates will stay closed until the barbariants are defected." Marcy said as she fired another arrow with rope that propelled her forward. "Come on."
"Right behind you. Blake said before using his vine to do the same
A few minutes later at a text set for planning
Hello master Marcy." A purple newt greeted Marcy as she and the other came into the tent. "Are they lost?"
"No, they're with me." Marcy said. "The planters traveled here all the way from frog valley."
"Ah welcome dirty peasants." The purple newt greeted them
"And these are my friend Anne and my boyfriend Blake." Marcy said
"So, have you guys come up with a plan to stop these ants?" Blake asked
"Indeed, we have." The purple newt said
"What." The blue newt said
"No, we have not we've come with nothing." The pink newt said
"Well, no worries." Marcy said. "I think I got it figured out. Do you guys remember when we studied insect migration pattern in biology class?"
"Yes." Blake said
"Nope." Anne said
"Well since the weather warned up those ants have sending scouting parties deeper into our territory. In fact, I predict a full-scale invasion is just around the corner. The king has asked me to stop before they turn Newtopia into a giant anthill." Marcy said before putting model of an anthill over the model of Newtopia
"Wait you work directly for the king of amphibia." Sprig asked in rude tone
"Uh-huh." Marcy said
"Sprig, behave yourself." Hop pop said
"I didn't know your guys had a king." Anne said
"Well Anne, we're not anarchists." Hop pop
"Speak for yourself." Polly said
"Ok the plan is we're going to sneak behind enemy lines and drive the ant queen away." Marcy said. "With her gone the rest should retreat.
"Oh yeah? And how are we doing that?" sprig said
"Check it out." Marcy said picking a hold bandolier with a lot of small yellow mushrooms on it
"Boom shrooms." Polly said
"Not quite." replied Marcy as her put it on. "These are stink shrooms. They are designed to release pheromones that should drive the queen away instantly. But we will have to fight our way through a bloodthirsty hoard of ants. We'll have to be extra careful. If one thing goes wrong."
She put too must weight on the table making it fall over
"Woah! Hehe flimsy table." Marcy said as fix the table and putting everything that fell back on it
"Uh, marbles this sounds pretty dangerous. Yeah, why don't you leave the mission to me and the Planters? We did stuff like this all the time back in the valley." Anne said
"Ugh come on Anna Banana I'll be fine." Marcy said
"Banana?" Sprig asked
"It a nickname." Blake said
"I've changed remember." Marcy said
"Mm-hmm your cape's on fire again." Anne said pointing to the cape that was indeed on fire again
As Marcy freak out along with the newts Blake came up remove cape and stamps out the fire
"Those capes sure are flammable." Hop pop said
"I'm with Marcy on the one." Blake said putting her cape back on her
"What thought you of all people wound want to keep her save." Anne yelled at him
"I have my reasons." Blake said
"Anne trusts me I can handle this. Now let's get going mission engage." Marcy said before running out of tent with the others following close behind
"Hey Marcy before we start the mission these something I need to tell you." Blake said feeling a little nervous
"What is it?" Marcy asked
"The truth is I have magical power." Blake said as he was holding right hand which was glowing in a golden light
"What no way where you learned how to do that can you teach me?" Marcy asked with stars in her eyes
"No Marcy I don't learn this. I've always had magic I was born with these powers." Blake explains
"What but how come you never told me." Marcy asked sounding a little hurt
"I wasn't allowed to it a family secret past down for generations to keep my kind safe." Blake explains
"Wait your kind like you're not human?" Marcy asked
"I am most of the time you see I'm a wolfwalker I'm a man when I'm awake and wolf when I sleep". Blake explains
"That is so cool what else can you do?" Marcy asked
"Well, I have a healing touch, above average strength but nothing crazy like lifting a bus, can talk to animals, have heightened senses like sight, smell, and hearing, chlorokinesis, and can turn someone into a wolfwalker by biting them. But there something else ever since I got here it like my powers have been supercharge and I've been getting new ones like my wolf blast." Blake explains
"That is so cool bite me I want magical powers." Marcy said with the stars back in her eyes
"No way there a lot more to being a wolfwalker then just magic but I'll save the history lesson for later after we're done with this ok." Blake said
"Aw ok." Marcy said
A short walk later
"Okay we should be arriving there shortly. Marcy said before falling down the hole only to be caught by Blake's vine." "Thanks
"Marcy maybe it be a good idea to let me lead us down there." Blake said
"What you don't think I can handle it." Marcy said a little upset
"It not that it just we're going down into a dark unground cave system and it just a smart idea to let the guy with build in night vision lead." Blake explains.
"Good point." Marcy said
"Ok so it will be me in the front, Marcy in middle with Anne and the planters in the back let go." Blake said
As the team made there way down into the cave
"I do feel safe back here." Sprig said before jinxing myself as another ant grab him from behind
"Wolf blast." Blake said as he fired another blast at the ant making it drop Sprig and run away
"Thank Blake." Sprig said unfortunately more ants came out and started attacking the group
"That was so cool aw man now I want to get bitten even more now." Marcy said
"Less drooling more helping." Anne yelled
"Oh, right." Marcy said looking around for something. "Essence heron bane just the doctor order." Marcy said picking something glowing for a nearby plant before putting it into a vial with a yellow liquid in it and then pouring it into a potion bottle with a pink liquid then shaking it until it turned purple. Done guys this way. Before throwing the bottle at the which exploded and made a hole for them to escape as our hero ran through the hole Marcy throw a sack that making purple vines shot out of ground
"Insta-vines bred them myself." Marcy said sounding very proud of herself.
"Where can I get some of that?" Blake asked
"Um guys little help." Polly said from the other side the vines
"I got you." Blake said his hand glow gold as vine move so Polly can get through before going back to where they were so no ants can follow them
"Marcy." Anne yelled at her
"Sorry but all turn out ok right anyway isn't vegetation in amphibia just the coolest." Marcy said
"You think vegetable are cool." Hop pop said. "Marcy how would you like to be adopted"
After that they made their way to the ant queen nest
"So, what the plan Marcy." Blake asked
"We're got plant the mushrooms all around the room, so she'll get a nose full, but we have to be fast. These bad boys are set to go off to go off in five minutes. Also, the queen is mostly blind, but hear so be very quiet." Marcy said
"Aye, aye Marcy let do this." Blake said
They split into three team Anne and Marcy in team 1, Hop pop and Polly in team 2 Blake, and Sprig in team 3.
As Sprig was planting stink shroom one of the egg hatch and an ant larva jump at him
"You got to be kidding me." Sprig said before it grabs his arm and as he started to scream which caught the queen's attention laughing her tongue at Sprig
"Sprig look out Ahh." Blake said before pushing Sprig out the way but got caught by the tongue and then got eaten himself
"BLAKE." Anyone yelled together as more ants came into the nest
"Eat this you oversize ant." Blake yelled from inside in ant queen firing a wolf blast downward making the queen sick to her stomach and puking him up cover in green slime. "Ew gross"
Just then even more ants came into nest heading towards our heroes
"Marcy got any ideas because I'm running on almost empty here." Blake said
"3 2 1." Marcy said looking at her phone which was counting down when it hit zero all the stink shroom whet off the smell driving all the ants far away
"Hey, it smells kind of nice." Sprig said
"Maybe but it'll liquefy your lungs if you breathe in too much." Marcy said holding her nose
"Let's, go." Anne yelled as they ran out there as fast as they can
"Hey, thank for having my back you guys." Marcy said
"Babe, I'll always back you up when you need me." Blake said
"You're on fire again." Hop pop and Polly said together as the cape was yet again on fire
"Oh, come on there even any fire this time." Marcy stumping out the fire
"Ok why does that keep happening." Blake asked
As they exited the group landed on their feet but Marcy who landed face first
"Mission success." Marcy said
"Up you go." Blake said helping Marcy to her feet
Just then a bell rang and gates open
"Who's ready to go to Newtopia." Marcy said before running the gate. "And write up a detailed report"
"You guy go ahead I need clean up little first." Blake said trying to wash off the slime in the water
"Hey Blake, earlier when you said you have your reasons what was it?" Anne asked
"Anne from what I've hear from your stories you run into danger without a plan and got by on luck but happen when that luck runs out even with my powers there were a lot of close calls for me, and I'll bet there a lot more then you think for you, or did you forget that I save your butt twice since I join you guys but Marcy has nether luck nor powers and has gotten this far by playing smart and having a plan." Blake explains as he and Anne walk into the city to catch with the others
As the group explored the city a group of guards show up before a female blue newt in a fancy dress came up from behind them
"Well met Lady Olivia." Marcy said while bowing
"The king sends his greeting Marcy. He trusts you have succeeded." Marcy throws a dead ant head near her. "Ah still fresh I see. Excellent work as expected from the great Marcy Wu." Olivia said. "I see you have company."
"Lady Olivia meets my boyfriend Blake and my best friend Anne, I told you about them remember." Marcy said "Turns out Anne was transported to frog valley and Blake was transported to wait where did you end up?"
"I don't know there wasn't any landmark just a big forest and I was wonder around for months, so I don't know where I began." Blake said trying hard to remember where he started
"It's a pleasure to meet you." Olivia said
"You to dude I mean my lady." Anne said with a bow
"You have my thanks for taking care of Marcy." Blake said with a bow
"And these are the planter." Marcy said
"Welcome to Newtopia, planters, Anne, and Blake. This is an old city but one rich in history and splendor. Please don't touch anything that look important. Do enjoy your stay." Olivia said taking her leave
"She seems friend-ish." Hop pop said
"So, you're a big deal here or something." Anne asked
"Let's just say I have a perfect record when it come to missions." Marcy said with hint of pride
"Kids why don't you help my unload the fwagon while these three caught up." Hop pop said
A little later
"So, neither of you found a way home either." Marcy said as the three friends sat at a fountain
"Nope." They both said
"You know it funny. I've been hoping to find you guys for so long. But now that we've found each other I have no idea what to do next." Anne said
"I know what you mean first thing first we need though we need to find Sasha." Marcy said
"Oh, actually I already found Sasha we had a fight." Anne said
"No, was it bad?" Marcy asked
"There was maybe some swords and miner explosions but point is don't know where she is now." Anne said
"That sound less like a fight and more like a battle." Blake said
"Well even if we find a way home it pointless without Sasha." Marcy said
"So, what now." Blake asked
"I don't know Sasha was the one who come up the plans back home." Marcy said
"Maybe it time we came up with are our dissection." Anne said
"I mean it's worked out for us so far." Marcy said
"With some trial and error but yeah." Blake said
"Come on guys stand up." Marcy said
"Ok." they both said standing up
"Come guys strike that power pose." Marcy said as she and Blake got into fighting stands
"This good." Anne said puffing her cheeks out
"Good enough Anne and nice one Babe." Marcy said as Blake had taken a fighting stand with his hands acting like claws
"I'm Marcy Wu' I'm Blake Wolf' and I am Anne Boonchuy. And together we're going find Sasha and find a way home." The friends said together before laughing
"Okay so I wanna know everything that happened since you got here. Do you have any photos?" Marcy asked
"Do I." Anne said holding up her phone
"I don't my phone broke months ago." Blake said
As the 3 friends were getting caught up a large figure was watching them from afar before turning to a large board
"The pieces are starting to fall into place." The figure said before placing two pieces on the board one look like Anne the other Blake. "It's time for game to begin."
