The newt and the wolf chapter 12 the Haunting of Barrel's Warhammer
Author note Sorry for the long wait but I been busy and had some writer block so it took longer than I would have like. This chapter was a bit odd to write since it doesn't have Blake, Marcy, or Anne in it but fun fact this was inspired by an old true story and I wonder if anyone can guess what it is.
Sasha narration
You know if someone told me a few months ago that me and my friends would be send to another world filled with talking frogs, newts and toads I would have laugh in their faces not so much now given that I about to give a speech to the toad lords to get them on our sides or we're dead
Normal POV
We open not in wartwood but in the northern toad tower as the three-remaining toad lords and their army's gathered around an indoor stage.
"So, the disgraced captain Grime called this council meeting does anyone know why?" Bufo asked.
Maybe he wants to be surrounded by friends before he gets arrested what do you think Aldo?" Beatrix asked.
"…." Aldo didn't say anything and from the way he looks you think he was dead.
"Uh is he asleep or dead?" Bufo asked.
"Definitely smell dead." Beatrix said as the two laughed.
As that was happening Braddock was peeking behind the curtain
"Not exactly a welcoming crowd." Braddock said.
"Especially that captain Beatrix what her problem?" Percy asked.
"Her problem is that she my sister and I may have tease her quite a bit when we were tadpole." Grime said causing the two to panic.
"That it stick a folk in us we're done." Braddock said.
"Hey enough loser talk we can do is just remember what we practice and keep your eye on the prize," Sasha said.
"Oh, that remind me I have one last touch for our outfit" Percy said painting one white eye on their capes "now we really are a team."
"One eye I see what you did there." Grime said.
"Nice one Perce" Sasha said as they huddled up "Now come on everyone let's get out there and impress some toad or we die."
Back with the toad lord who were getting bored.
"Dang it Beatrix what your brother waiting for?" Bufo asked just as he said the stage went dark and curtain open up.
Braddock was the first to stepped out as she set up a canvas, then Percy came on stage and started dancing, Grime then appeared on top of the stage before using the rope to swing down onto the stage landed on a plank that caused Percy to be laugh into the air, while in the air Percy pull out a T-shirt cannon firing it at the crowd and some even get on a few toad somehow
"My follow toads for years we have kept the servants in line but are we not servants ourselves? I propose a future where toads overthrow King Andrias and take our rightful place as ruler of all Amphibia." Grime said.
"Pss drop the mic." Sasha told Grime in a whisper who did just that.
"You all took a huge risk in coming here to gain support for your rebellion." Bufo said.
"And it paid off we frogging love it nice work Grimothy." Beatrix said that last past in a teasing matter.
"No way is that your real name." Sasha said.
"We're not talking about this." Grime said as his face was partially red.
"So, tell us who's leading this revolution?" Bufo asked.
"I was thinking us." Grime said.
"Yeah, I don't think so look we like your vision but no toad is going to follow the command of a fugitive and his hummus." Bufo said.
"Humans we're called humans." Sasha said.
"Bufo is right just because King Andrias is working with a couple of hummus doesn't mean us toads will go for it." Beatrix said while holding up 3 fingers.
"Wait other humans they must be talking about Anne, Marcy and Blake, I don't believe it they're working together without me." Sasha said.
"And apparently aiding the crown." Grime said.
"In fact, this whole thing is beginning to sound too risky guards arrest them." Bufo said.
The guards charge at them but Sasha made quick work of them.
"Listen here you buffoons what it going to take to prove that you should follow us." Sasha said.
Aldo suddenly started moving showing he wasn't dead.
"Barrel's Warhammer." Aldo said.
"Barrel's hammer you're finally gone senile Aldo" Bufo said.
"Yeah, that a suicide mission there a reason why most toad are afraid of that old ghost." Beatrix said.
"Ghost?" Sasha asked but Aldo put his hand up.
"It is said that the one who wield the hammer is the true leader of all toads it is the one thing the only thing that prove we should follow you." Aldo said.
"Great done you'll have it in your crypt keeper hands by morning." Sasha said.
"No toad has ever done after the hammer and made it back alive this I've got to see." Bufo said.
Later
The three toad their human were now on a raft sailing their way through the swamp
"So, what's this hammer and why are you scared of some ghost?" Sasha asked as she tied the mast.
"A little late for that but fine the hammer belonged to Barrel the brave He and his pet scarab hound fought in many battles but their final one ended in tragedy." Grime said while looking at the map.
"They slay the beast they were hunting to save a village but at the cost of Barrel's life." Braddock said.
"Legend said that his hound protected her master's grave even in death it still guards the hammer waiting for someone worthy to claim it." Percy said.
"Wow that one loyal pet." Sasha said.
"Yeah, a lot of toads don't go after the hammer out of respect for ghost of Dawn." Braddock said.
"Dawn?" Sasha asked with a raised eyebrow.
"The scarab hound that's her name for her golden fur but that's beside the point we don't even know if this tadpole tale is real." Grime said while Sasha saw Percy and Braddock were still nervous.
"Listen if things get too wild just give me a signal and I'll call off the whole thing." Sasha said to Percy and Braddock.
"A signal what kind of signal?" Percy asked.
"Hmm how about this do your best kawaii pose it's something we do for photos in my world like this." Sasha said as she spun around a did a cute pose.
"What a photo?" Braddock asked.
"Just try it." Sasha said as they did it perfectly before laughing.
"No giggling we're here." Grime said as they made it dry land.
"Hey Sash thanks for that I feel better already." Percy said.
"No problem and remember if it gets too scary just give me the signal we'll leave." Sasha said.
As they through the island Sasha took her turn with the map
"According to the map Aldo gave us we should be close to where the hammer was last seen." Sasha said while reading the map.
"This is insane even if it exists, we'll never find it." Grime said.
"Found it." Percy said pointing to the hammer they were looking for.
"I don't believe it it's real our ticket to revolution." Grime said.
"Best part no ghost in sight could life actually be this easy for a change?" Percy asked.
"Quick Grimesy yank that thing out of the ground." Sasha said but as he tried to lift it but it didn't even budge.
"Um a little help here." Grime said as the other came to help.
"Ok gang on three" Sasha said. "One two three."
Try as much it budge a little but that was the lease of their problems.
Howl
"GHOST" Percy screamed in fear.
The wind blew while golden energy formed, into a gold fur covered creature it had six legs with 4 claw feet, a beetle shell, a wolf-like tail, and a wolf-like head with pincers.
Sasha was readying her sword but saw Percy and Braddock doing the kawaii pose.
"Alright you mutt looks like we're doing this the hard." Sasha said.
"But Sasha you said." Percy said.
"It's too late to turned back now." Sasha snap at them.
They charge at it only to be knotted back by the beast swiping its tail at them.
"Now I remember why I wanted a hound so must as a child." Grime said as they got back up.
They tried it again, only this time trying cut it down with their sword only it kept dodging and smacked them away again.
"Hold still you mutt." Sasha said getting up again.
"This isn't working what do we do?" Braddock asked.
"Need to find it weakness." Grime said.
"It's a ghost what if doesn't have weakness." Percy said sounding scared.
"Everything has a weakness we just need to figure it out." Grime said making Sasha's eyes widen.
"Wait in most media ghosts are tied to the living world by an object or something important to them." Sasha said as they all look at the hammer.
"THE HAMMER."
"If we can get the hammer, it might make the hound disappeared." Grime said.
"Or can just make her madder." Percy said.
"We don't have a chose you guys go for the hammer I'll buy you some time." Sasha said charging again.
"You hear her let's get that hammer." Grime said as they ran to the hammer.
But try as they might, that hammer was not moving, and Sasha wasn't doing much better.
"Why don't you fight fair you stupid dog." Sasha said trying to slice the hound with her sword only for it to pass right through it.
"It no good it's not budging." Grime said panting a little.
Sasha was then smacked into them as the beast was walking toward them growling angrily.
"We need to get out of here." Percy said while helping her up.
"NO, I'M NOT LEAVING HERE EMITY HANDED." Sasha snapped back at him.
"But Sasha." Braddock said only to be cut off.
"I'VE WORKED TOO HARD TO BACK DOWN NOW NOT WHEN ANNE, MARCY AND BLAKE ARE GETTING ALONG WITHOUT ME!" Sasha yelled before grabbing the hammer her eyes glowing pink as she ripped it out of the ground.
As that was happening Dawn stepped back scared than Sasha and Grime charged while the hammer glowed pink with runes before smashing Dawn with it.
"Rest in pieces mutt." Sasha said as the ghost disappeared.
"Now let's get this hammer back to the tower and start our revolution." Grime said.
"Go without us." Percy said as he and Braddock walked away.
"What where are you going?" Sasha asked.
"Sasha, you cared more about that hammer then our safety." Braddock said.
"Yeah, we were scared out of minds, but you didn't care." Percy said.
"But" Sasha said only for Percy to cut her off.
"Good-bye Sasha and good luck with your revolution." Percy said as the two walked away.
She tried to stop them, but Grime stepped in front of her.
"Grime out of my way." Sasha said.
"Let's them go war takes its toll and we all have our limits I guess they reach." Grime said.
"Good-bye Percy, Braddock." Sasha said sadly.
As they left a sad howl could be heard

Author note Dawn backstory was a mix of Barrel's and a true story for our world let's see if anyone guess which one here a hint loyalty.
Next chapter Blake will be put to the test in the temple of instinct. See you in June hopefully.
On a side note with death battle returning soon I wanted ask again something I that no one answer. If you can pick one character to get a death battle who would it be? This is just a fun little game I came up with that has a few rules 1 no one who already had a death battle and 2 you don't need to come up with an opponent but you can if you want.
Now last time I forgot to tell you who I would pick, that being Wendy from Fairy Tail. Wind/Air is a very underutilized element don't believe me then take a minute to think of as many anime fire users as you can off the top of your head and without look any up then do the same with anime wind/air user. Also anyone who has played an RPG know that the healer is a very important member of any team plus she is the only member of the main team (beside Lucy) to not have one yet.
