I'm back with my newest chapter and I first want to say sorry for the wait I was just having trouble thinking of Blake's third trial up until about a week or two I was drawing blank for it.
The newt and the wolf chapter 13 the temple of instinct
Blake's narration
After a few uneventful days me and Marcy was able to find the locate of the third temple and it wasn't even that far away in fact we didn't even our birds.
Normal Pov the forest outside Wartwood
"Are you sure of about is boy." Hop pop said as they walk through the forest.
"Yes, hop pop Marcy and I check our math five times just to be sure." Blake said while looking at the map annoyed at the old man for asking that same question for the umpteenth time.
"Yeah, have a little fate in us." Marcy said.
"I do it just I find it hard to believe that there a temple so close to our home." Hop pop said.
"Yeah, guys I've been here for months and never saw anything that look like a temple." Anne said.
"And knowing this town Toadstool would have turned it into he's own spa or something." Polly said.
"Maybe it just well hidden." Sprig said.
"Well, it doesn't matter how well hidden it is we'll find." Anne said.
"Marcy watch out for that root." Blake said not even looking up from the map.
"What gekk" Marcy said tripping over said root luckily Blake caught her with his vine. "Thanks"
"Sign where would you do without him." Anne said.
"Hopeful we won't need to find that out." Blake said.
"Hey, look we're almost there." Marcy said as she looked at the map.
"Yep, should be right about here." Blake said pointing ahead to a cave while still not even looking up from the map.
"No way this is the cave I stayed in before I moved in with the Planter's." Anne said as they made their way inside.
"Ok that it there no way there a huge temple in this little cave." Hop pop said while Blake put the map away.
"Well only way to find out Anne the music box if you please." Blake said to Anne who pulled out the music box from her bag causing the blue gem to shoot out a blue beam that hit the wall which made a doorway to a dark stairwell with yellow text around it to appear.
"Watch your step and beware the dark in order to reach your mark." Marcy read out loud. Author note I'm not good at rhyming so that's the only one you guys are going to get.
"Well, that explains why no one found it until now it's underground." Blake said while having a smug look on his face.
Yeah, yeah laugh it up boy." Hop pop said as they started walking the dark stairwell into an almost pitch-black hallway only light coming from the girl's phones and Blake's glowing hand, but it wasn't much help.
"Well, I guess we know why it say beware the dark." Polly said sarcastically.
"I wonder what watch your step meant?" Sprig asked as step on a tile and an arrow shot at him but for Blake to catch it.
"I think it means that this hallway is full of traps." Blake said, throwing the arrow away.
"Wow it just like one of those old movies." Marcy said with stars in her eyes.
"Not helping Mar-mar so how do we get past this?" Anne asked.
"I have an idea" Blake said before slapping his hand on the ground and to him yellow soundwaves pass through the ground. "Look like I was right this whole thing could be boobytrap."
"So now what?" Marcy asked.
"Wish me luck." Blake said.
Blake jumped onto the wall then jumped onto a tile setting off a trap, but he deflected the arrows with his vine and repeated the process until he reached the other side making the pathway light up.
"What the heck man are you trying to scare us half to death." Anne scolded him.
"What you two did the same in your temples, why can't I do it in mine?" Blake asked.
"What do mean?" Anne asked.
"When we were researching, I began to see a pattern, the first temple was about intelligence and the smartest one solved it, the second temple was about heart and the most caring solved it er no offence Marcy." Blake said.
"None taken." Marcy said.
"Anyway, this temple is about instinct and that my area of expertise." Blake said.
"But we can help." Anne said.
"I know but I see perfectly fine here while you guys can barely see a thing." Blake said.
"Ok but we're here if you need us." Marcy said.
"Thanks now let's go." Blake said.
As they entered the second room all they could see was a platform and a dark pit.
"So, what this room about?" Hop pop asked.
Blake clapped his hands listen to the sound echoing though the room.
"Looks like a timing puzzle with moving platforms and swinging blades over a very deep pit." Blake said.
Blake jumped onto the platform then thanks to using his hearing was able to make perfectly timed jumps to each of the platforms while dodging the blades making his way to the end which cause the platforms to reshape into a glowing walkway and the door to open.
"Alright two down one to go." Sprig cheer as they made their way across.
"Yeah, but if memory serve me right the last one will make the other two look like a cakewalk." Blake said as they made into the hallway the door closed behind them and returning them to darkness.
"Don't worry we'll be with you the whole time." Marcy said as she reached out to grab his hand only.
"Thanks Marcy but that not my hand." Blake said, trying not to laugh.
"It's my." Anne said.
"Whoops sorry Anne it's so dark hard to tell who's who." Marcy said before they burst out laughing.
"Alright then time to show this temple who the boss." Blake said as they their way to the final room.
As they entered the final room, they were unsurprise to find it was pitch black just the last two rooms were.
"So, what this room about?" Sprig asked but when Blake clapped what he found was.
"What the besides the pedestal in the middle this is just an empty room." Blake said.
"So, what do we do now?" Anne asked.
"It's likely that whatever traps this room got will activate when we step foot in there so have to be on your toes everyone." Marcy said.
"Well, whatever is we'll face it together." Sprig said.
With that they made their way to the pedestal.
"Let's do this thing." Anne said as they all cheer.
Just then walls started to rise from the ground forming boxes without lids around each of them separating and trapping each of them before the boxes started to move taking our heroes for a ride with them as room change into that of a labyrinth before the boxes stop and sank back down into the ground.
Ow is everybody ok?" Blake asked only to find himself alone. "GUYS WHERE ARE YOU?"
"WHAT JUST HAPPENED?" Hop pop yelled as Blake slapped his hand against the wall, he could see around himself but couldn't see anyone else due to the walls being too thick.
"LOOK LIKE WE'RE IN SOME SHORT OF LABYRINTH." Blake yelled.
"HOW ARE WE SOPPOST TO FIND OUR WAY OUT IF WE CAN'T EVEN SEE." Polly yelled.
"DON'T WORRY JUST STAY PUT AND I'LL FIND YOU THAN WE CAN GET OUT OF HERE TOGETHER." Blake yelled.
AND WANTEVER YOU DO DON'T TRY TO JUMP OVER THE WALLS THAT NEVER IN VIDEO GAMES." Marcy yelled.
Just then the sound of someone getting zapped was heard.
"TOO LATE." Anne yelled.
"OW." Sprig yelled.
"Why bother helping them?" An unknown voice said scaring Blake into grabbing his spear.
Ok Blake keep it together it just the temple trying to mess with you" Blake saying to himself and taking deep breath. "You've got this.
"Do you now."
"Nice try temple but Marcy and I have play enough indi horror games to be scared that easily." Blake said but then he noticed a foul-smelling dark yellow fog coming from vents on the floor but thankful it wasn't poisonous.
"We'll see about that."
As he was making his way through the maze a dark yellow fog started to take the form of olm.
"Come on temple is the best you've got." Blake said trying to sound brave.
"Why did you forgive the green one?" The fog olm asked.
Blake was caught far guard by that one.
"Marcy made a mistake but she own up to it, came clean and is trying to fix her mess." Blake said.
"And what stopping her from do it again?" The fog olm asked.
"We all make mistake but what's important is that we learn from them." Blake said.
"You're too trusting." The fog olm said.
"What's wrong with trusting the people I care about?" Blake asked.
"Isn't trusting the wrong person was what got her killed." The fog olm said.
"Who are you talking about?" Blake asked, his voice cracking.
"Elizabeth she was killed by someone she trusted someone who she showed nothing but kindness right." The fog olm said.
"Yeah, so what's that have anything to do with what we're talking about?" Blake said.
"What stopping her from repeating history?" the fog olm asked.
"MARCY IS NOTHING LIKE THAT MONSTER HE WOULD USED ANYONE TO GET HE WANTS ELIZABETH DIED BECAUSE OF HIS EGO TO START A WAR RATHER THAN MAKE PEACE." Blake yelled.
"Then why is your kind still in hiding?" The fog olm asked.
"It's not that simple the whole family has to agree to it." Blake said.
"They're worry that if the WHOLE truth come out the people will turn on them." The fog olm.
"No, they won't not after all good we done." Blake said.
"But was that out of the goodness of their heart or just trying to mask their guilt?" The fog olm asked.
"I don't know." Blake said.
"Were they just trying to paint themself as the good guys." The fog olm said.
"I don't know." Blake said.
"Then what do you know?" The fog olm asked.
"THAT I'M SCARE OK." Blake yelled.
"…"
"I'm scare because your right there will always be people out that will hate us no matter what people who think their doing the favor by getting rid of us because they can see pass the fur and the fangs." Blake said.
"So, people of your world won't change, is that right?" The fog olm asked.
"No Alex has proven that it's possible to see pass the fear and hate if the people of Gravity fall can accept weirdness, then one day the world can accept us and as long as I have my friends and family backing me up, I have nothing to fear." Blake said pointing his spear at the fog olm.
The fog olm said nothing and disappeared as the walls sank back into the floor Blake fell breathing heavily as he started to cry.
"Blake what happen are you hurt?" Marcy said worriedly as she rushed over to him.
"I'm fine well physically at least." Blake said standing up and wiping his tears away.
Who were you yelling at and who is Elizabeth?" Marcy asked.
"Sign for now let's just say she was an aunt who had the worse break up ever, but I'll tell it later." Blake said.
"Alright" Marcy said before the glowing runts appear and she read it aloud." Facing your fears is never easy but what is instinct without courage."
Care to do honor?" Anne asked as they approached the pedestal Anne took out the music box.
I did get us here so yeah." Blake said taking his gem and placing it on the pedestal.
With that a golden light lit up the room, in gulping the gem while Blake's eyes glowed yellow before it drained and with that the gem color was restored however Blake fell over but was caught by Anne and Marcy.
Woah you ok dude?" Anne asked.
Yeah, I just feel drained all of a sudden." Blake said tiredly.
Maybe you can tell us about Elizabeth tomorrow." Marcy said.
Yeah, that might be for the best." Blake said as he took his gem and placing it back on the music box.
As they left the temple unknown to our heroes Blake's eyes still had a little yellow left.

Alright 3 temples down 1 to go. I'm little sad ever try to guess what Dawn's backstory was inspired by or ask why I replace the giant worm with beetle wolf ghost and yes Dawn was the golden figure
