The Earth has begun to suffer from the scarcity of fossil fuels from so many centuries of use, and with this many governments begin to despair.
2090 AD
At the age of 39, Aeolia Schenberg comes out with a solution to solve the Global Fuel Crisis: a theoretical basis for the combined Orbital Elevator and photovoltaic energy system. As the level of technology available at the time of publication is not advanced enough to realize the project, his theory receives little public attention.
While working on the concept of orbital space elevator, Aeolia also works on the development of humanoid machines. It is before the actual production of mobile suits so historically, he can be viewed as its inventor.
2091 AD
Leaving the concept of MS to his peers, Aeolia went into exile together with a large group of the world's 100 most intellect scientists and engineers and they secretly created a hidden base, where they could secretly study and make new inventions. Among them, they investigated a theoretical particle of special photons which they called the GN Particle and started a project to convert this new type of particle into a new source of unlimited energy capable of replacing nuclear energy.
Aeolia's men create a state-of-the-art Quantum A.I Supercomputer that controls the base's computers and equipment called Veda, and it was also designed to help further their research of the GN Project.
2095 AD
At the age of 54, Aeolia and his men plan to make a secret space base to further study their experiments and with greater security so that no government would find out that they were doing illegal experiments.
2097 AD
At the age of 56, Aeolia observes with great disappointment that the world, as he knows, it is full of hated, greed, and violence. However, when he discovers that the GN Particles (subjected to a quantum concentration field created by Veda) have great mystical power, capable of transmitting thoughts of any intelligent living being to those who come into contact with them, he regains hope for humanity and begins to come up with an envisioned goal for all mankind. With his vision of a world where all humans understand one another, Aeolia develops a plan to speed up human evolution. It'll be later referred to as "Aeolia Schenberg's Plan".
2100 AD
After 10 years, Aeolia scientists create a reactor that semi-permanently generates a large amount of GN particles by absorbing baryonic decay by-products as an energy source. This invention was called Solar Reactor (also known as GN Drive) and would later serve as a propulsion machine.
Quickly these weapons became the only most advanced technology in the world, after nuclear power, hidden away from those who abused their incredible power for their benefit given to them in the so-called Gundams.
The paramilitary organization Celestial Being is formed under the ideology of ending global conflict by Aeolia Schenberg in order to realize his vision of a world without warfare. Later it is stored in the supercomputer Veda all the terminal data of the GN Drive, which she would later use to develop new identical units and higher production.
More breakthroughs and discoveries were made in GN engineering to find out more about its power and later Aeolia would erase that data in Veda about the latest major discoveries in secret so that no one could harness it for their benefit.
2101 AD
Aeolia and his men decide to create the space base (which would also be controlled by Veda) somewhere in Lagrange 1 and continue the development of Celestial Being. Later, Aeolia decides to hibernate in a hyper-dream chamber guarded by Veda and he will wake up when her dreams of a world without wars and conflicts come true, although by then, Veda will lead the ideals of its creator and the development of the Gundams, that will be the only weapons of the Celestial Being and those that will promote the eradication of wars.
2164 AD
The fossil fuel supply on Earth is finally depleted after centuries of consumption, yet the world's smartest scientists began looking for new forms of energy and the safest option they could find was solar power.
With that, the world governments decided to adopt the previously rejected Aeolia's theory, ordering the establishment of 3 gigantic pillars on the equator line. This started the Solar Power Project.
2188 AD
A mission to send the exploration vessel Europa to Jupiter, backed by the USA. The purpose of the mission is for the sake of space exploration. A crew of Celestial Being scientists is secretly among the people sent for the mission. One of their objectives is to manufacture the GN Drives on Jupiter.
2214 AD
After half a century, humanity managed to build the 3 gigantic pillars called Orbital Elevators into Earth's atmosphere. Each measure more than 500,000,000 kilometers high and these connect the Earth with space.
A little later, thousands of parabolas are installed on the top of the pillars, which are connected to each other by means of a great ring around of the world in space, in charges of receiving sunlight.
The nations of the world were grouped into 3 political-economic blocks, each in control of their own Orbital Elevator made through their collaboration:
The Union of Solar Energy and Free Nations (Union) constituted by the Americas and Japan, was the first to complete its elevator in South America.
The Human Reform League (HRL) which is made up of most of Asia and Russia included, and had control the second Orbital Elevator which is in the Pacific Ocean.
The Advanced European Union (AEU) a technologically and socially enhanced version of the old European Union, Iceland, the islands of the Barents Sea, Greenland and Anatolia. This latter controls the third and only incomplete Orbital Elevator found in the center of the African continent, but managed to complete the Solar Energy Project in record time.
The Superpowers of Earth recognize that in order to make the construction of the Orbital Elevators more efficient they need a work vehicle that can operate on the Earth's surface, the increasingly thin atmosphere, and in zero gravity. From this need the workloader was developed.
In the middle of the Indian Ocean, the Oceania Union is formed by Australia and New Zealand, with capital in Wellington (New Zealand), whose objective is to improve global competitiveness without the need for the Solar Energy Project.
Finally, it is founded in northern Europe, the United Kingdom of Scandinavia formed only by Norway, Sweden and Finland.
2215 AD
Despite the formation of the political-economic blocks, national power is still a highly fluid commodity as the world economy has yet to stabilize. Because of this fluidity minor conflicts begin and end almost daily across the globe. Instigators could range from single dissident civilians to national military forces. Because the Orbital Elevators are very visual and relatively fragile targets they are the focus of many attacks.
Although these conflicts pale in comparison to the World Wars some are still significant enough to be labeled as a Solar War in reference to the attacks on the solar energy collection grid.
2220 AD
In Massachusetts, a child is born whose genes were manipulated by genetic engineering giving him the ability to be stronger than other normal humans, have more intelligence and better physical condition.
That child was named George Glenn and would be remembered as the world's first Coordinator.
2221 AD
Five GN Drives are completed and sent back to Earth via an unmanned capsules.
The Incident at Jupiter occurs. One of the crew members involved with the Jupiter Project killed the other remaining members, ejected all the data terminals he could find then attempted to completely destroy their ship. The details of this incident are not known until the year 2225.

2 men from a UN-backed scout team arrive at the ruins of the Jupiter exploration ship, where they find and retrieve a purple Haro.

The United Nations formally adopts the Cosmic Age calendar and announces a new space development program. Construction of the Yggdrasil space station, which had been interrupted earlier, resumes on Lagrange 1.
Nuclear weapons are employed on the frontlines of central Asia, in the Kashmir region (known as the "Last Nuke"). The resulting shock motivates the combatants to resolve their conflicts peacefully.

Ralph Eifman, a future inventor scientist expert in Mobile Suits and quantum physics between fields, is born in the Union (July 29).

In the middle of the South Pacific, an island nation is formed, made up of several volcanic islands east of New Guinea, called Orb Union, which, like the OU, does not need the Solar Energy Project to keep its economy stable, since it has an abundant supply of geothermal energy thanks to its many active volcanoes and access to advanced technology. Its inhabitants are made up mostly of Japanese with Australian, New Zealand and Papuan New Guinean immigrants (inhabitants of Papua New Guinea).

The Space Colony plan begins in earnest, and a space industry arises to exploit the new frontier. Construction of the lunar supply and assembly base Copernicus begins.
George Glenn becomes an employee of the Union's Federal Aeronautics and Space Administration (FASA).
The Union establishes the Federal Space Force (FSF). The AEU and HRLS soon follow suit.

The space station Yggdrasil is completed.

The lunar city of Copernicus is completed.
NASA launches a new Jupiter exploration project and announces the development of the exploration ship Tsiolkovsky. George Glenn is to be the ship's chief designer and pilot, and the space station Yggdrasil will serve as the construction site. The purpose of the ship will not only be to explore but also to collect Helium 3 from the upper atmosphere for use as fuel in nuclear power plants

The exploration ship Tsiolkovsky is completed with a new team of Celestial Being scientists secretly infiltrating except for George and his closest companions.
George Glenn's Confession: As George Glenn departs for Jupiter aboard the Tsiolkovsky; he reveals the existence of Coordinators, and releases the necessary genetic engineering techniques onto the worldwide network. The world is thrown into chaos by these events.
In the name of environmental protection (specifically the preservation of they define the human species), the environmental protection pressure group Blue Cosmos declares itself adamantly opposed to Coordinator technology.

An international conference is held to discuss the Coordinator controversy issue. A protocol on genetic modification is adopted, totally prohibiting the manipulation of human genes. Nonetheless, many wealthy individuals secretly have their children turned into Coordinators.

A hospital in Chicago which has been secretly creating Coordinators is set ablaze. Blue Cosmos, the most out-spoken group against Coordinators and arguably the largest, is rumored to be involved.

The Zodiac research colony is further expanded and similar colonies are constructed. George Glenn announces his concept for a new scale-shaped space colony, and construction of these new colonies begins. The first generation of Coordinators, born in secrecy, reach maturity and begin to excel in every scientific, artistic, and athletic field. The differences between Coordinators and Naturals thus become very clear, and critical voices against Coordinators emerge. The loudest and most radical voice belongs to Blue Cosmos, the longest standing and most outspoken anti-Coordinator organization. Many professional institutions wish to ban Coordinators from professional competitions. The jealousy breeds hate and contempt for Coordinators.

The Superhuman Institute would be stationed in the HRL colony "Complete Sphere."

The Union initiates its Military Reconstruction Plan, an initiative to create a new series of space combat vehicles as well as a new line of space superiority mobile armors. The Union blames the incident on the woman and she is sentenced to life in prison. The woman would later be given an invitation to join Celestial Being with the codename of Marlene Vlady.

Celestial Being manages to complete its own Mobile Suit with designated GN Drive with more humanoid form, greater mobility, and performance than the rest of the Mobile Suits. The prototype was soon labeled Gundam and the unit name: GN-000 0 Gundam.

The four 2nd Generation Gundams, designated as GNY-001 Gundam Astraea, GNY-002 Gundam Sadalsuud, GNY-003 Gundam Abulhool and GNY-004 Gundam Plutone are manufactured in the Celestial Being colony Krung Thep. The four Gundams are tested in Krung Thep and its surrounding space region, and later on Earth.
The Advanced European Union (AEU) developed its first practical all-round MS, the AEU-05 Hellion (later AEU-05/92 Hellion Initium). The Human Reform League (HRL), on the other hand, have already begun deployment of the MSJ-06II-A Tieren.
Dr. Joyce B. Moreno leaves Médecins Sans Frontières and Ian Vashti resigns from the AEU military. Both accept an offer to join Celestial Being.
The PLANT becomes a major source of Earth's energy and manufactured goods. The sponsor nations continue to reap ever greater benefits, and impose ever heavier quotas on the PLANT. Meanwhile, other nations grow increasingly resentful of the sponsor nations' monopoly profits.

Councilman Patrick Zala survives a terrorist attack by an anti-Coordinator group. Feeling threatened, he sends his son Athrun to the lunar city Copernicus to study.

The Orb Union is involved in territorial water dispute with the Union.

The Plutone incident occurs. The 2nd Generation Gundam Meisters intervene in a terrorist attack on the HRL Orbital Elevator. Ruido and Marlene are killed saving Chall Acustica, a fellow Gundam Meister, from the malfunctioning Plutone. The incident is allegedly planned by Innovade Gundam Meister, Beside Pain, but never confirmed.
PLANT's energy production department is sabotaged by Blue Cosmos terrorists. The Supreme Council's request to pause energy transfer to Earth is denied by the sponsor nations. As a result, PLANT suffers a severe energy crisis.
To protest the decision of the sponsor nations, PLANT technicians organize a strike. In response, the sponsor nations threaten the PLANT with their mobile armor fleet. Siegel Clyne and Patrick Zala become leaders of a Supreme Council faction which seeks independence from the sponsor nations. Calls for independence within the PLANT grow much louder. A secret project to develop militarized Mobile Suits begin.
65 CE (2296 AD)
The Zodiac Alliance, now the dominant political group of the PLANT Supreme Council, changes its name to ZAFT. Thanks to the work of Siegel and Patrick, the council was nothing more than a puppet of the sponsor nations and had secured several vital rights for the colonies.
66 CE (2297 AD)
As the Kurdish government tried to find a solution to avoid an imminent civil war, several anti-government terrorist organizations and militias were founded, demanding reform by force.
Among that group was the KPSA, a militant guerrilla unit made up mainly of young children, including Soran Ibrahim, who were raised and trained in the ways of guerrilla warfare. The children were taught to use explosives, firearms, and other techniques of warfare. KPSA leader Ali al-Saachez used methods such as brainwashing and religious manipulation to make children fight in their war. Al-Saachez's methods were so brutal that he even ordered recruited children to kill their own parents as a test of faith and devotion to God.
The "Dublin Bombing" occurs in which the KPSA detonate a suicide bomb, destroying much of the city's residential district, killing more than 2,000 people.
67 CE (2298 AD)
Under the leadership of Patrick Zala, ZAFT is restructured into a military organization.
ZAFT rolls out the YMF-01B Proto GINN, the first fully-functional Mobile Suit. A section of Maius city is secretly converted and begins production of Mobile Suits.
68 EC (2299 AD)
Siegel Clyne is elected as Chairman of the supreme council. Clyne works to peacefully secure PLANT independence while his compatriot Patrick Zala, the National Defense Committee Chair, pursues a military solution.
The precarious situation of Krugis led to the growing frustration of its citizens and various civilian groups. The government tried to diffuse the issue, but the tension eventually escalated into a full-scale civil war when numerous anti-government groups banded together and tried to stage a failed coup in Erbil.
As a result, the Kurdish Civil War broke out.
69 EC (2300 AD)
ZAFT begins mass reproduction of ZGMF-1017 GINNs and other variants and also convert freighters into space warships, with more advanced machines in development.
Chairman Siegel Clyne orders Junius 7 through 10 to remodel for agricultural production. The sponsor nations respond with intimidation maneuvers to prevent PLANT from producing their own food. A skirmish breaks out between sponsor nations and PLANT, ZAFT and its mobile suits make their combat debut, soundly defeat sponsor nation forces and drive them out of PLANT space despite being heavily outnumbered. The military nature of ZAFT and the existence of mobile suits become public.
Seeing ZAFT's military development, the Union begins a Mobile Suit development program, Project G. The project is to create new prototype MS with a more humanoid shape, whose performance and mobility exceed ZAFT's standard MS, known as G Weapons, which would be the Union's trump card in a future conflict with PLANT.
For this, the Union makes a secret alliance with Orb to start the project in the space colony of Heliopolis, under the command of Admiral Duane Halberton and the engineers and scientists under Professor Ralph Eifman to carry out its construction in secret. They also started construction on a new state-of-the-art space warship called the Archangel.
The Kingdom of Azadistan intervenes in the civil war of the Republic of Krugis.
The Kurdish Civil War reached its high point when most of the Kurdish territory came under occupation. Celestial Being decides to send the 0 Gundam to intervene in the war in order to test the Gundam's performance capabilities.
The 0 Gundam arrives in a nearly destroyed village and annihilates the Azadistan occupation forces leaving no survivors except for a child KPSA member, Soran Ibrahim. The 0 Gundam pilot decides to forgive him and lefted to continue intervening.
In less than a month, the Republic of Krugis surrendered to Azadistan forces and was temporarily occupied until the entire territory was annexed to Azadistan.
70 EC (2301 AD)
On February 5, 70 CE a peace conference was scheduled to be held at the United Nations headquarters in Copernicus City. The purpose of the peace conference was to ease the tensions between the Earth sponsor states and the PLANTs. However, five minutes before the meeting was set to begin a hidden bomb went off, killing the United Nations' leadership and nation representatives. The incident is dubbed the Tragedy of Copernicus. The only representative to survive the terrorist attack was PLANT Supreme Chairman Siegel Clyne, who had been delayed due to a malfunction with his shuttle.
There is public outcry among the population, saying that it was all a ZAFT setup.
The Union of Solar Energy and Free Nations, the Human Reform League, and the Advanced European Union convene at a secret location in Alaska. Negotiations are finalized and the three powers ally into a loose coalition known as the Earth Alliance and declare war on the PLANTs. Although allied the three superpowers are uncomfortable acting jointly with their longtime rivals. As such each national entity prefers to keep command over their respective forces and rarely share military information beyond enemy movement patterns. Although the soldiers of ZAFT make little distinction and refer to the entirety of their enemies as the Earth Alliance or the Earth Forces, a soldier in the Union military will say that he is part of the Union, just as an AEU soldier will say he is part of the AEU and an HRL soldier is part of the HRL.
The war is formally declared on February 11, Cosmic Era year 70.
Three days after the declaration of war, on February 14, Muruta Azrael orders the Roosevelt, an Agamemnon-class carrierof the Union, to launch a nuclear attack on Junius 7, a PLANT-type space colony in the Junius City area of PLANT killing 243,721 civilians. The event will come to be called the Bloody Valentine Incident and marked the opening of hostilities.
From that day forth "Remember the Bloody Valentine!" has been the rallying cry for ZAFT and the people of the PLANTs.
No one doubted that the much larger Earth army would emerge victorious in a short time... however those predictions turned out to be wrong.
The Innovade Tieria Erde is activated by Veda to observe and serve as a Celestial Being Gundam Meister.
71 EC (2302 AD)
By late August of CE 70, a territorial stalemate on Earth was reached. ZAFT controls Africa, the AEU's Orbital Elevator, the L4 and L5 regions, and lightly contested areas of ocean south of Asia and north of Australia. ZAFT lacks the resources to fight a battle of attrition or to acquire territory without reason. Their plan is to take what the Alliance needs to conduct war in space, the Mass Drivers and the Orbital Elevators. Also with control of the Orbital Elevators they will have control over the Earth's power supply which can be held hostage to obtain the Earth's surrender.
Meanwhile, the Alliance is more desperate than ever as they lose more ground and resources to ZAFT, so they turn to Project G, their only hope of removing of the ZAFT's Mobile Suits advantages and turning the tide of the war. The 5 MS prototypes of the EA, were transferred to the neutral colony of Heliopolis, next to the Archangel, in the hope that ZAFT would not notice the existence of these units.
But on January 25, 71 CE, a small ZAFT team led by Commander Rau le Cruset (Al Da Flaga's clone son) manages to infiltrate the colony undetected and sends a small team of newly graduated ZAFT soldiers of the academy, whose ages were between 15 and 17 years. They managed to infiltrate the garrisons and attack the soldiers in a surprise attack until they finally reached the location of the G Units, being the GAT-X105 Strike, GAT-X303 Aegis, GAT-X102 Duel, GAT-X103 Buster and the GAT-X207 Blitz. The unit leader, Athrun Zala (son of Patrick Zala) got into the cockpit of the Aegis, Yzak Joule in the Duel, Dearka Elsman in the Buster and Nicol Amalfi in the Blitz, who put it into operation, and prepared to destroy the facilities. However, the fifth unit is piloted by a young civilian involved in this, being Kira Yamato (son of the Hibiki doctors) who put up resistance and managed to expel the 4 out of the colony.
In the end, Kira had to be forced to join the Archangel, along with the survivors of the attack, who's they will take center stage in the coming battles.
By June, the Alliance had lost their third Mass Driver, impede them access to space, but then they set their sights on the neutral Orb nation's Kaguya Mass Driver, hoping to use it and make their way into space.
The Union sends an ultimatum to the Orb government to let them use their driver, but the government under Representative Uzumi Nara Attha flatly refused, winning a war with the Union. The Union sent a large force towards Onogoro Island (where the Orb capital is located) whose forces resisted the strong Union attack with the help of the defecting ship Archangel and a new white MS known as the ZGMF-X10A Freedom, an MS of ZAFT stolen from the ZAFT military facility, created of the derivation of the G Weapons and is equipet by a Neutron Jammer Canceler and powered by a nuclear reactor.
During the invasion, a family, among them Shinn Asuka, tried to flee from the attack, but unfortunately his parents and younger sister were killed in an explosion caused by the beans collision of the Freedom and the Raider, and he somehow managed to survive. A little later, he is found by one of Orb's soldiers, who took him in until the end of the war to return to PLANT.
At the end of the Orb conflict, the Mass Driver self-destructs, along with several Orb officials, including Uzumi, thwarting any Alliance ambitions to take their driver, but the Orb was left under Union occupation. However, the Archangel, along with other Orb forces managed to escape into space, with their goal of stopping the clashes between the 2 factions.
By September 27, after 2 1/2 years of constant battles and massive casualties not seen since the world wars, the Bloody Valentine War, humanity's deadliest and most destructive conflict, costing both Earth and PLANT millions of lives, ends in the Second Battle of Jachin Due, where both the supreme leaders of both commands (Muruta Azrael and Chairman Patrick Zala are died respectively, stopping the hostilities. In that battle, the Archangel's faction intervened in the fighting and destroyed the ship where Muruta was, and the Freedom disappears at the end.
72 CE (2303 AD)
3 months later, the Junius Treaty is signed between the representatives of PLANT and the Union to put an end to the conflict once and for all. All national borders return to pre-war positions, among them, the AEU Orbital Elevator and the Driver Habilis (both recaptured on June 25, 71), sparing several ZAFT-controlled bases, including Carpentaria and Gibraltar.
Veda recruits both Neil Dylandy to join Celestial Being as Gundam Meister under the code name Lockon Stratos.
Allelujah Haptism is also recruited as a Gundam Meister.
73 CE (2304 AD)
Once the Treaty of Junius was signed, both Earth and PLANT began to rebuild their war-torn economy.
Blue Cosmos had already rebuilt its power base in the Union, and reorganized under the new leadership of Lord Djibril. As before, Blue Cosmos had a great influence on Earth's political elite, and was still driven by racial hatred towards the Coordinators.
Gilbert Durandal is elected as the new president of PLANTs and he takes advantage of his first year in office to initiate a new military reformation of ZAFT.
Soran Ibrahim joins Celestial Being under the code name Setsuna F. Seiei.
Shinn Asuka joins ZAFT.
74 CE (2305 AD)
With the nation of Orb rebuilt and its economy restored to stability, Cagalli Yula Atthar was elected Country Representative and Athrun was appointed as her bodyguard.
Meanwhile the other nations of the world including PLANT started a new arms race, creating new and improved MS and new innovations of wars that the whole world could see these events as a pre-war or a future new EA-PLANT war.
However, ignoring its existence, Celestial Being who had been observing the events of the war, Veda begins the construction of the third generation Gundams based on the technology of the G Units being the GN-002 Dynames, the GN-003 Kyrios and the GN-004 Nadleeh. While the GN-005 Virtue is still under development and will be completed later. Later, Veda begins the construction of a fourth Gundam, being the GN-001 Exia, which, unlike the others, is based on combined ZAFT technology, so it would be piloted by a Coordinator.
Now, with Celestial Being gaining more power, it will soon make its appearance on the scene and announce to all mankind its founder's plan; the eradication of war and the unification of all of humanity. The wheel of fate had begun to turn…
Also to make the timeline make sense with Setsuna and Shinn's age (16 years old) in the date of 76 CE, I put their births in 59 CE (57 in canon).
I also added the fact that both Shinn and Mayu were born in PLANT and only moved to Orb almost 10 years later.
Oh, as for the fact that Setsuna is a Coordinator who was not born in PLANT and lived for the first 10 years of his life in a troubled area and anti-coordinator politics, it will be explained later.
This is almost all for today, and as for the first chapter, well, maybe I'll post it next Saturday.
