Chapter 108 Eye of Deceit
Today promises to be an exciting day and the reason for that is its Nakia's and Ryan's six month anniversary.. For now, let's begin with Zelda.
Zelda walks into the high school wearing a pink t shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. She walks through the first floor hallway till something on the end wall catches her eye. It's a large poster announcing a new drama class opening up by the end of next week, and if anyone is interested in joining they should sign up immediately. The word immediately is in bold faced letters because under that it explains why people should sign up immediately.. And that explanation goes like this.. Only the first 30 students to sign up will be accepted. This totally intrigues Zelda simply because she has always been interested in acting. She leaves after copying down the room number to go to sign up for the class. Not really thinking about the time, Zelda decides to go look for the room now. She stops when she hears the first bell ring. She says.
Zelda-Uh oh. Better get to first period before the late bell rings.
She goes to her locker first to get the books she needs for her morning classes.
The day moves on along smoothly, and now the time is 11:15.. Ryan is in his car repair class working on a project red car but without his partner because he didn't show up today. He's wearing a red t shirt, a pair of jean shorts, and black sneakers. Now, the room they're in isn't an ordinary classroom, in fact it resembles a garage but in fact is truly a classroom. The teacher, Mr. Baudelaire who's in his mid thirties, has a medium build, a puffy looking face and wearing a pair of dirty overalls introduces a new student to the class. Everyone stops working so that they can listen carefully to what the teacher says.
Mr. Baudelaire-Class. I'd like to introduce a new student today. She comes from Markland High school, you know the town right next to ours.
He opens up the front door and a 17 year old Caucasian girl walks in. She is pretty, has long blonde hair, blue eyes and a strong looking build. She's wearing a pair of jeans, a cut off white dingy t shirt and a pair of tennis shoes. Everyone says hello to her and she responds with a weak type wave. Mr. Baudelaire looks at his student chart to see if there's a spot he can put the new girl, but he finds no openings. So instead he says to her.
Mr. Baudelaire-Well Debbie, right now my class is filled up. Assuming this didn't matter to the main office, I see they just thought they'd squeeze you in. So I'll do the same. Today you'll have to work with two people, and later on during the week.
She interrupts him after taking a long deep look at a buffed up looking guy who just went back to work on his car, and if you haven't guessed already I guess I'll tell ya. It's Ryan of course. She clears her throat before saying to Mr. Baudelaire.
Debbie-If its all right with you Mr. Baudelaire. I'd like to work with that handsome guy wearing the red t shirt.
She points directly at Ryan.. Mr. Baudelaire says with confidence.
Mr. Baudelaire-Okay Debbie. Usually Ryan prefers to work just with his partner. But for today I'm sure he'll agree with an exception. Just go over to him and he'll explain what he's working on.
She smiles as she walks over to Ryan.. She gives him a little tap on his shoulders which startles him just a little bit and ends up causing him to bump his head from up under the hood.. He groans out.
Ryan-Oww!
Debbie giggles.
Debbie-I'm sorry.
He looks up at her and can't help but notice her beauty, but of course he ignores this and says.
Ryan-It's okay. Can I help you?
Debbie-Yeah. Mr. Baudelaire says I'm to work with you for today.
Ryan-Uh what?
Debbie-Is that okay?
Ryan-I usually.
She cuts him off by finishing his sentence.
Debbie-Work with your partner, right?
Ryan-Yeah.
Debbie-I know. He told me. It's only for today though.
Ryan sighs and gives in.
Ryan-All right.
Debbie exclaims with happiness.
Debbie-Great! So what are we working on?
Ryan-A carburetor.
Debbie-Okay. So what's the problem?
Ryan-It's simple. We have to make a new one and install it correctly.
Debbie-That shouldn't be too difficult.
Ryan-Oh no? It's not easy I'll tell you that.
Debbie smiles and says.
Debbie-I grew up practically in a garage. So believe me I know how to deal with a broken down carburetor.
Ryan-Cool.
Ryan smiles.
Lunch time arrives.. Nakia is outside of the school waiting for Ryan.. She is wearing yellow jeans, a light blue blouse and comforter shoes. She also has her hair up in a pony tail today. Many students walk out of the building but no Ryan. She starts to wonder what's holding him up. Just as she is about to walk back into the school, Zelda comes out with Kimberly. And Kimberly is wearing a full body white dress and white shoes. Nakia stops them and asks.
Nakia-Have either of you seen Ryan?
Zelda shakes her head and Kimberly says.
Kimberly-No.
Nakia-Hmm. He told me he'd be right out. We are supposed to be celebrating.
Zelda-Celebrating what?
Nakia lets out a high gasp of sweetness and commences to say.
Nakia-Well.. Zelda. It's been six months since Ryan and I have been dating.
Zelda-That's wonderful!
Kimberly-Yeah!
Nakia-I know it hasn't been much of a relationship with us being Rangers and all, but I still love him.
Zelda-You know I had no idea it was your six month anniversary.
Nakia-I know you didn't. No one did but Ryan and I.
Kimberly-So you both are going to have a celebration lunch?
Nakia-Yeah if he ever gets his butt out here.
Zelda-I'm sure he'll be out soon. He's probably finishing up something in class.
Nakia-Yeah..
Zelda-Oh hey I do want to tell you something about me..
Nakia-What?
Kimberly starts to say with exhaustion because Zelda has already told her about twenty times. Zelda grunts at Kimberly and she stops so Zelda can say.
Zelda-I'm signing up for the new drama class!
Nakia-Really?
Zelda-Yeah, I went to the sign up room a few minutes ago but it was closed. Rest assure I'm going right back there after lunch.
Nakia-That's good. Do you think you'll be any good at acting though?
Zelda-Yeah of course! I've always wanted to be an actor!
Nakia-I thought you wanted to be a model.
Zelda-That too. So if I fail at acting I'll have modeling to fall back on.
Nakia-Yep. You have to be discovered first.
Kimberly-That's what I told her!
They all giggle.
Nakia looks back through the doorway and yet again doesn't see any sign of Ryan. She sighs again.
Nakia-Where is he?!
Zelda looks at her watch and speaks.
Zelda-I think he might be still in his class Nakia. Hey we have to get something to eat before lunch is over.
Nakia-I know. Just go ahead. I'll wait here for Ryan.
Zelda-Okay. And don't be down. He'll show up.
Nakia smiles meekly and says bye to her friends as they leave the school area. A few more minutes pass and everyone has cleared the area, everyone except for Nakia that is. She is still waiting for Ryan to show up.
Meanwhile, a very angry yet tired Grand Master Sinistar watches through her viewing portal in her throne room.. She has returned to her so called normal form.. The form she had just before changing into that hideous looking demon. As she sits on her throne watching Nakia become angry and upset at Ryan, she decides to have a bit of fun with it. She summons a female monster which basically looks like a full bodied white furred cat with one exception, which is this monster has no face, none at all, the only thing that it has in place of a face is a very large white eye, and her name is Deceitraza. She has the power to control anyone's emotion and make them believe certain things are happening when it's not.
Purring out her words, she bows as she says to Grand Master Sinistar.
Deceitraza-Thank you so much for allowing me to come here Master. I shall serve you well.
Grand Master Sinistar-The Yellow Ranger is having a difficult time now. I want you to magnify it!
Deceitraza-It will be an honor.
Grand Master Sinistar-Get to Terra Falls!
Deceitraza-Yes master.
She stands back up and twirls around till her body disappears.
Back in Terra Falls, Nakia decides to go back into the school to find Ryan.. Right before she has the chance, Deceitraza appears on the school's front lawn and purr's out a message.
Deceitraza-Oh Yellow Ranger!
Nakia turns to her and gasps. She immediately prepares to fight.. But Deceitraza quickly blasts Nakia's eyes with a white concentration beam that makes Nakia groan out and cover her eyes due to the mild irritation.
Nakia-UGHH! OO!
The evil monster laughs and says in a whispering tone.
Deceitraza-Now Yellow Ranger. You'll see what I want you to see. I'll be your guide to the ends of your destiny!
She purrs and lets out a roaring laugh as she disappears.
When the irritation stops, Nakia uncovers her eyes and looks around for the monster.. She doesn't see her.
Nakia-Hmm. I wonder..
She stops that sentence and looks at her watch..
Nakia-Oh man! Lunch is almost over! I have got to find Ryan.
A voice in the winds is slightly heard.
Deceitraza-When you find your precious man of love. It'll be a surprise. One that will surely make you wish you hadn't found him. Hahaha!
Going through the hallway Nakia asks a few people if they have seen Ryan, no luck, except for hearing from the last person that Ryan is still in his car repair class working with the new girl Debbie. She doesn't get jealous, but she is hurt because Ryan didn't even take the time to tell her he was going to be working through lunch. She takes a deep breath and makes her way to the car repair class room.
At the old weather station, Lightwing has used his magic to ultimately improve Jeremy's computer system. And when he switches it on, it immediately alerts him of a monster near the high school. By the way Jeremy is wearing blue jeans, a white and red stripped tank top and sneakers. He yells at Joey who's down the hallway trying to fix one of his video cameras. At first Joey doesn't hear him, but he gets the message after hearing his communicator beep. Quickly he rushes out of the room and goes into the main computer room. Joey is wearing blue shorts, a blue t shirt and sandals. He says to Jeremy.
Joey-Hey what's up man?
Jeremy-There's a monster somewhere around the high school.
Joey-Did you tell the others?
Jeremy-No not yet.
Joey-I'm on it!
Jeremy-Okay. I'll contact the others.
Joey-You do that.
Joey activates his communicator's teleportation ability, and quickly his body starts to glow blue with a sparkle, then his body forms into a blue light that moves upward and disappears as soon as it hit's the ceiling.
Back at the high school, Deceitraza has summoned a band of demon knights that have immediately begun their attack on the innocent students who have just came back after their lunch break.
Zelda and Kimberly walk out of Mel's Deli and are on their way back to the school which the walk is only about a couple of minutes. Kimberly is obviously showing her lack of enthusiasm over Zelda's constant rambling on about her acting. She says to her.
Kimberly-That's wonderful Zelda. I have already told you this. I'm sure you'll do fine!
Zelda-But what if I choke?
Kimberly shows a gesture of choking Zelda playfully as she says.
Kimberly-You will if you keep talking about it.
Zelda giggles nervously.
Zelda-Okay I get your point. I'm sorry.
Kimberly-Alright then.
They both laugh and continue on their way.
Back inside of the high school, Nakia has made it to the car repair class, but no one notices her. She spots Ryan working on his project with Debbie, and almost instantly her eye sight becomes clouded with a red veil of deceit. Becoming extremely angry because what her eyes are projecting to her makes her feel the intense anger.. She's actually seeing Ryan give Debbie a kiss, and she's kissing him back not ordinarily though, oh no, it's a long passionate kiss. Nakia lets out a howling scream that startles both Ryan and Debbie who in reality are working under the hood. Ryan bumps his head and looks at Nakia.. He says.
Ryan-Hey babe..
She's still screaming out.
Ryan-Nakia calm down.
She does stop screaming out, sort of. She says hurtfully.
Nakia-You heartless creep! You're just like the other guys aren't you?!
Ryan-What?!
He walks closer to her and sees her eyes glowing red. He asks.
Ryan-Nakia babe, what's wrong..
She interrupts him fiercely.
Nakia-Stay away from me! How dare you do this! And to think I loved you!
Ryan-Nakia, calm down! Stop it right now.
Nakia-I am so done with you Ryan, have fun with your new girlfriend you heartless monster!
She slaps him across his face then leaves the room. Ryan takes a hold of his left cheek after being slapped because its hurting him a bit.
Ryan-Oww! Man!
Debbie walks over to him and asks.
Debbie-That was your girlfriend, right?
He rubs his cheek and answers.
Ryan-Yeah!
Debbie-She's nuts.
Knowing something is wrong with Nakia, something supernaturally wrong because her eyes don't just glow red for no reason, he says back to Debbie.
Ryan-No she's not nuts.
Debbie-Well what do you call what she just did?
Ryan-I can't get into this right now. I have got to go find her.
Debbie-Why? Since she thinks we're a couple. Why not just go with the flow?
Ryan becomes highly against Debbie's idea.
Ryan-No!
Debbie-Ryan I seen the way you looked at me.
Ryan-I think you're beautiful. That's beside the point. I love Nakia. And I'm going after her.. Sorry but you'll have to find another guy.
He starts to run out of the room but stops suddenly and turns back to Debbie with one last thing to say.
Ryan-Actually I'm not sorry. I love Nakia and she's the only one for me!
Debbie gives him a sour look as he smiles and rushes off.
Zelda and Kimberly have made it back to the school.. They have already joined Joey in the fight against the demon knights.. The students have been freed and are running back into the school frantically. Some of the students pass Nakia as she runs by them, she stops after getting a painful shock in her eyes.
Nakia-UUGHH!
She makes it outside and sees something very different.. The power in her eyes makes her believe the demon knights are normal people and her friends are the demon knights. She gasps.
Nakia-Oh no! Demon knights!
Zelda has a demon knight by its hand, she twists its arm around.. But Nakia sees it as a demon knight twisting an old man's arm around. She leaps off of the stairway and fiercely attacks Zelda therefore breaking the hold she just had on the demon knight. It rolls away as Zelda defends herself against Nakia's attacks and says.
Zelda-Nakia, stop!
Nakia doesn't hear her voice, she only sees it as an enemy. The others notice and rush over to try to knock some sense into Nakia by grabbing her away from Zelda. Now with Nakia restrained, Zelda says to her.
Zelda-Nakia its me Zelda.
She notices her eyes glowing red.
Zelda-Oh my goodness.. Your eyes.
She is cut off due to a forceful frontal kick Nakia delivers right to her stomach.
Zelda-UGHH!
Zelda clutches her stomach and falls to the ground. She manages to get back up after a few seconds. Suddenly, Nakia breaks away from the others and knocks them all down with a twirl around side kick. Kimberly exclaims.
Kimberly-UUH! What's wrong with her!?
Joey-Man that was a hard kick!
Ryan and Chet make it out of the school.. Chet finishes off the real demon knights while Ryan takes a hold of an angry Nakia because she was just about to attack her friends again. Zelda asks.
Zelda-What's wrong with her eyes?! They're glowing!
Ryan doesn't answer Zelda.. He talks to Nakia who's growling at everyone.
Ryan-Nakia honey calm down, please.. Listen to me.
She doesn't listen. She struggles to break free from Ryan's grip but he's really strong. His voice manages to penetrate Nakia's ears which makes her even more angry because she believed what she had seen earlier in Ryan's car repair class.
Nakia-LET GO OF ME!
Ryan-Nakia! Calm down!
Nakia-I CAN'T STAND YOU! HOW COULD YOU HURT ME SO BADLY!
Her anger starts to turn into severe hurt which makes her cry.
Ryan-Nakia I didn't do anything wrong! Listen to me!
Nakia-LET ME GO NOW!
She continues to struggle but really its futile. Her shouting continues.
Nakia-I LOVED YOU SO MUCH RYAN!
Ryan-Nakia! I love you! Now just shut up and listen to me!
Nakia-NO! LET ME GO!
Zelda, Kimberly, Joey and Chet watch with great sympathy.. Zelda's eyes start to water slightly because Nakia's actions are very hurtful to watch. She says.
Zelda-Nakia please listen to Ryan. There's something wrong with your eyes. They're glowing!
Nakia doesn't hear Zelda's voice all that well because the power is deafening her ears once again.. She looks directly at her friends who still appear to be demon knights. Ryan shouts out.
Ryan-NAKIA I'M NOT GOING TO LET YOU GO TILL YOU SETTLE DOWN!
Blasts of dark lightning surfaces from behind them all.. Soon the lightning hits them and knocks them all down to the ground.
Everyone-UUGHH!
Ryan has let go of Nakia who's eyes are now starting to severely burn.. She screams out.
Nakia-MY EYES! THEY'RE BURNING BADLY!
Ryan gets up and says in a high exclamatory way.
Ryan-OH BABE!
Zelda looks up and says to her friends with force after she spots Deceitraza hanging by her tail from up in the large oak tree in front of the high school.
Zelda-LOOK! A CAT MONSTER UP IN A TREE!
The others look up at the oak tree except for Nakia and spot the monster. Kimberly is the first to stand back up on her feet, the others soon follow.. Ryan is the last because he's helping Nakia back up.. Her eyes are glowing brightly white now and her pupils have completely disappeared. Kimberly yells out at the monster.
Kimberly-YOU DID THIS TO OUR FRIEND DIDN'T YOU?!
Deceitraza-Of course I did. And now she's going to destroy you for me. Rowr!
A familiar voice is heard..
Lightwing-Oh no she won't you evil twit!
Deceitraza asks.
Deceitraza-What? Who said that?! Rowr!
They notice Lightwing appearing and flapping his wings fiercely which causes a magical glitter to arise and surround Nakia's eyes. She covers her eyes and groans out.
Nakia-UHGH!
Lightwing's magic completely destroys Deceitraza's evil power and soon Nakia's normal eye sight returns.. And with her eye sight back she's able to perceive things the way they should be in sight and sound. She looks up at him and says.
Nakia-Thank you Lightwing! Thank you so much.
Lightwing-It was my plea..AWWKKK!
Lightwing has stopped talking, and now is falling out of the sky.. Deceitraza has zapped him with a powerful dark lightning bolt.
Nakia leaps up and goes into cannonball mode.. When she comes out of it, she catches Lightwing in midair and lands on the sidewalk gently. He looks up at her and says weakly.
Lightwing-Thank you.
Nakia-No problem buddy.
She gives him a little peck like kiss. He then starts to glow brightly.
Lightwing-I'm going back to rest.
Nakia-Good, you do just that.
Finally he completely disappears.
Nakia looks angrily at the new development.. Deceitraza are attacking her friends.. She has flipped them all onto their backs with painful crash results. She says something directed to the monster but in a whispering tone.
Nakia-You're gonna pay!
She brings her right wrist up to her chest and twists it slightly.. The twist causes her wrist to glow yellow slightly, then when the glowing vanishes, her communicator has transformed into her new star storm morpher which are designed with each Ranger's storm power symbol, and their color coded stars right above the storm symbol.
She runs towards the monster and shouts out as she touches the yellow star on her morpher.
Nakia-YELLOW STAR, LIGHTNING STORM POWER!
The yellow star on her morpher activates and produces a highly intense blinding power beam that brings us within the center of a universal essence. Quickly and very sudden, a large yellow star appears twirling within the essence, when it stops, a fierce band of yellow lightning bolts strike the yellow star and completely breaks it into yellow energy that comes together and forms into the Yellow Star Storm Power Ranger. There she stands with her suit glowing and flashing with the color of yellow as she leaps up and twists her body around.. When she lands back onto the floor of the essence, she commences on by doing a couple of back flips. And finally when the power phase is complete, she lands on her feet which sounds a thunder clap and causes an image of fierce lightning bolts to appear..
Now, a yellow flash brings us out of the essence and back to now seeing the Yellow Ranger rushing towards the monster. She takes flight up in the sky and materializes her lightning Bow. She immediately releases three lightning bolt arrows which quickly plunge right into the monster's back.. And do those bolts give the monster the shocking of her life? I'm happy to say they do!
The Yellow Ranger still in the air, flips over and lands by her friends.. She helps them back on their feet.
Yellow Ranger-Are you all okay?
Ryan nods.
Ryan-We're all right.
He looks at the monster who's now on the ground screaming due to the intense electrical shock she's receiving nonstop.
Ryan-But I think its time for all of us to power up and send that cat back to the alley!
The Yellow Ranger nods.
Yellow Ranger-Alright, so what are ya waiting for?
Ryan smiles, then twists his right wrist which makes it glow red, once the glowing dies down, his communicator is revealed to be his red morpher. The others soon do the same to bring forth their morphers. Together they stand with the Yellow Ranger in the middle, everyone shouts out.
Everyone-STAR, STORM POWER!
After the power call is said, they each touch their color coded stars on their morphers and say one by one.
Ryan-RED!
Zelda-PINK!
Chet-BLACK!
Kimberly-WHITE!
Joey-BLUE!
A blinding multicolored light appears from their morphers.. The light takes us once again to the center of a universal essence, this time the essence is split up into five spots. Quickly and sudden five large stars appear in each essence, red, pink, black, white, and blue. A burst of fiery flames breaks apart the red star, a strong screeching wind shatters the pink star, a storm of crushing hail busts the black star, a high force of snow tears the white star completely apart, and a wave of aqua power causes the blue star to burst. Now, energies arise from the broken star pieces and transform into each Ranger. There they all stand as their suits glow and flash with the colors of red, pink, black, white, and blue. Each Ranger leaps up and twist their bodies around once.. When they land back onto the floor of the essence, then commence on by doing a couple of back flips. And finally when the power phase is complete, they all land on their feet which sounds a bursting storm of flames, a high powered screeching wind, a crackling storm of hail, a snarling storm of snow, and a huge wave of rain. And with those sounds, an image of ferocious flames appear behind the Red Ranger, a breezy image of wind appears behind the Pink Ranger, an image of large hail appears behind the Black Ranger, an image of a gentle snow appears behind the White Ranger, and finally an image of rain appears behind the Blue Ranger.
A flash brings us all back to the sight of the entire battle scene. Immediately the Power Rangers except the Yellow Ranger materialize their weapons and take flight up into the sky. Deceitraza stands up slowly and looks up. She sees the Pink and White Rangers coming towards her, they hurl their weapons at her chest with enormous strength. She cries out as both the Javelin and the Snow staff strike her chest which causes two sets of mini explosions.. But that's not all.. The Blue and Black Rangers are the next to go, the Black Ranger fires a double blast of energy from his cannon and at the same time, the Blue Ranger fires a powerful aqua energy sting beam from his shield.. Together the two powerful blasts strike the monster with painful surging results. The Red Ranger goes into cannonball flip with his weapon in hand, he comes out of it just in time to deliver a triple fire power paralyzing slash..
The Rangers all land in front of the monster who's now twisting and twirling about in agonizing pain.. Finally, the Yellow Ranger leaps up into the sky.. Her body suit begins to glow yellow and sizzle with thunderous power. She shouts out towards the monster as she envelopes herself within the clouds.
Yellow Ranger-HERE'S SOMETHING YOU WON'T FIND DECEIVING!
The clouds begin to fire up with power, and suddenly a huge yellow lightning bolt extracts itself from the clouds and speeds through the sky with great speed. The other Rangers stand there boldly as the yellow lightning bolt rips through Deceitraza's already hurt body with great velocity. She screams out very loudly.
Deceitraza-AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOO!
Her body crackles and sizzles with more pain than she had ever felt before, and in a few seconds her body starts to fall apart till an explosion takes over therefore completely destroying her as the yellow lightning bolt flashes in front of the other Rangers and transforms into the Yellow Ranger standing in front of her friends..
The teachers, counselors, principals and the students had all been in the gym area during the Rangers battle because of the alerting monster.. Later on they are told that the monster alert is now over.
Hours pass, and evening has revealed itself. Ryan and Nakia are in his car driving to a very special surprise Ryan had all set. Nakia is wearing what she wore earlier during the day and Ryan has on black pants, a nice looking red shirt and sneakers. He starts to say to her as they cross a bridge.
Ryan-Babe I'm so sorry for..
Nakia looks at him and says with a calm interruption.
Nakia-No, its really okay Ryan. I understand. Its me who's sorry for what happened earlier with that cat monster.
Ryan-That wasn't your fault.
Nakia-I'm still very sorry.
Ryan his right hand off of the steering wheel and takes a hold of Nakia's left hand.. She sighs with happiness. Fifteen minutes pass and the two arrive at the local juice bar. Nakia is a bit uneasy about this because she doesn't know what's going on. Ryan parks the car.. She asks.
Nakia-What are we doing here? I thought.
He interrupts her by saying.
Ryan-I have to pick up something before getting to the restaurant.
Nakia-Oh.
Ryan-It's important babe.
Nakia looks at him with slight contempt. Ryan says when he gets out of the car.
Ryan-Why don't you come with me?
Nakia-No Ryan I'd rather just wait here.
Ryan-Oh come on. It won't hurt.
Nakia lets out a little impatient groan but gives in.. She gets out of the passenger's side of the car and walks with Ryan to the entrance of the juice bar. She says to herself.
Nakia-Oh jeez. I can't believe it. He'd rather come here of all times…
She stops when he opens the door and notices a bunch of balloons hanging up, confetti all around, their friends wearing party hats, and the entire place just lit up with a good feeling. There's also a large sign hanging up saying: HAPPY SIXTH ANNIVERSARY RYAN AND NAKIA! Nakia walks in with Ryan as her eyes start to water.. She says in a choked up way.
Nakia-Oh my goodness! You guys did all of this for us!?
Zelda smiles and responds.
Zelda-Yeah we did. In fact we rented out the place last month for this night.
Nakia-But I thought you didn't know.
