Chapter 121 Detour
Ryan has finally got news about his car.. It's good. He finds out its done being repaired so he can pick it up sometime during the day. At the local juice bar. Nakia unintentionally meets up with Brett.. Turns out he was just there to get a nice workout in the gym area at the same time she wanted to go get a nice fresh cup of fruit juice. Brett spots Nakia at the bar section.. By the way he's completely shirtless and only has on a pair of red hot shorts. I must say he has a very nice muscular chest. He gets off of one of the exercising machines and surprises her. Nakia is wearing a black French Beret although its pronounced "Bu'rey." A slightly Thin Yellow Wool blouse, a black skirt with a Buttoned up Front along with a pair of black stockings and black high top shoes.
She puts down her juice and speaks.
Nakia-Hey Brett. What's up?
He smiles at her and responds in a manner of saying he's all sweaty.
Brett-I think that's fairly obvious.
Nakia-Yeah. Working out.
She playfully says now.
Nakia-Nice pecs.
Brett-Thanks.
Nakia-So what's up for today?
Brett-I was hoping you'd go with me to a cabin.. Up in the mountains.
Nakia chokes in her mind.. Which means she's surprised to hear Brett asking her this.. She responds.
Nakia-Why?
Brett-You'd like it up there. Trust me. It's really beautiful this time of year.
Nakia thinks about Brett's question. She doesn't really know what she should do. She knows if she says yes Ryan will be totally upset with her. So instead of just saying yes for herself, she decides she'll invite her friends to go with her. She doesn't tell Brett though. In other words her answer is for herself, Ryan and her friends.
Nakia-Yes.
Brett-Really?
Nakia-Yeah. I'll go with you. Since there's a week off from that boringly harsh high school it'll be no problem
Brett-Cool! Can you be ready this afternoon?
Nakia-I'll be ready.
Brett-You're going to have the best time.. I promise you that.
Nakia smiles.
Nakia-Great. I wouldn't want to be disappointed.
Brett-You won't.
Brett smiles heavily to himself.. He then goes back to working out, with more energy than he just had before talking to Nakia.
After Nakia finishes her juice. She leaves the juice bar. She goes behind the building and turns on her communicator. She touches the red star and says.
Nakia-Ryan.. Come in.
She doesn't know it but she's being watched by an invisible crystallized eye. The eye is projecting her image back to Queen Minerva who's looking through her crystal ball. She says after getting high energy readings from Nakia and figuring out only a Ranger could have an exceedingly high energy level.
Queen Minerva-So the one in yellow is a Ranger is she.. Hmm.
Princess Andromeda asks.
Princess Andromeda-Do you want us to attack?
Queen Minerva-No. Not you. Send the winged warriors after her. Perhaps they might beat her and brighten my dreary day!
Princess Andromeda-Yes auntie.
Back to Nakia. She's speaking with Ryan through her communicator. He asks.
Ryan-Up in the mountains for what?
Nakia-Brett asked me to go. He doesn't know I'm asking you to go with us.
Ryan-So, tell him.
Nakia-I will later. You haven't answered my question.. Will you go?
Ryan-You really should know the answer to that one babe. Of course I'll go. I'm not going to let you spend time alone with him. You're mine.
Nakia smiles.
Nakia-I feel the same way Ryan. That's why I told you.
Ryan-Allright.
Nakia-I'll contact the others and see if they can go too.
Ryan-Okay keep in touch babe. I'm going to go get my car out of the shop.
Nakia-It's fixed?
Ryan-Yep.
Nakia-Cool then we can take your car then.
Ryan sighs.
Ryan-Sure.. No problem.
Nakia-Okay.. I love you Ryan.
Ryan-I love you too.
Nakia turns off her communicator.
A few seconds later, Nakia looks up and sees a bunch of winged gremlins flying towards her. She says to herself.
Nakia-Oh jeez! And I'm in my good outfit today!
The winged gremlins land and Nakia goes into fighting mode.. She quickly back flips and catches one of the winged gremlins' head in-between her ankles. She then brings down the winged gremlin with a hard smack. She props herself up on her knees just in time to give two more winged gremlins a double punch which sends them flying away. Another one attempts to attack Nakia and all she does is a superb floor sweeping swoop to bring it down. Suddenly she finds more winged gremlins in the sky. And they are really mean looking.. She gets back on her feet to defend herself, but something happens.. Two winged gremlins from behind (she didn't see them) capture her arms. The other winged gremlins land when Nakia yells out.
Nakia-LET ME GO YOU CREEPS!
She hears a familiar voice coming from above.
Red Ranger-HEY!
Nakia looks up and so do the winged beasts. She smiles at her friends who are all standing on top of the juice bar building fully morphed and powered up. Now she breaks free from the two who had her arms and super kicks them both away. She leaps up into the air after materializing her Morpher and calls forth her power.
Nakia-YELLOW STAR, LIGHTNING STORM POWER!
Brilliantly yellow colored lightning appears in a flash throughout the sky. The yellow lightning strikes Nakia's body with promise. She lands next to her friends as the Yellow Star Lightning Storm Power Ranger. The Rangers look down at the winged gremlins and says one by one.
Red Ranger-We're getting sick and tired of you already!
Yellow Ranger-Yeah, so go back to where you came from!
Pink Ranger-Before we get really mad!
Black Ranger-You don't want to have to deal with us on a regular basis!
White Ranger-Simply because..
Blue Ranger-We're the Power Rangers!
Red Ranger-And you're goin down!
All of the Power Rangers leap off of the building and go into cannonball mode in sequence which goes like this.. Red, Yellow, Pink, Black, White and Blue.
Each Ranger lands in a different spot behind the juice bar building to take on the winged gremlins.
Queen Minerva's invisible crystallized eye returns to her. She watches through her crystal ball at the fight going on between her warriors and the Power Rangers.
Back to the fight.
Two winged gremlins try to grab the Pink Ranger, to get away from their disgusting looking hands, she back flips, and when she lands on her feet she sees the two rushing to get close to her to give her a double strike now. She swings her right leg upward to knock one winged gremlin' hand away from her, the second one she grabs by the arm and twists around it, so that she's behind it. Now she gives it a lower swift sweep with her leg and makes it fall flat on its back.. The first one tries again, but the Pink Ranger gets up on her feet again and super jump kicks it into the sky. A few minutes later the winged gremlin falls on one of its comrades.
Two other winged gremlins fly up into the sky and dive down towards the Blue Ranger. Acting quickly, the Blue Ranger leaps up just as soon as both of the winged gremlins get close enough. He super punches them both so forcefully that they painfully squawk and fall to the ground with a double hard crash. The Blue Ranger gently lands back on his feet.
The Red Ranger gets down on bended knee to give three winged gremlins a triple fiery punch. They scream out and fall together on the ground. The Red Ranger gets back up on his feet and turns to see one of the winged gremlins getting up.. He super kicks it in his head and makes it fall back down again. What he didn't notice was, the other winged gremlin he had knocked down did manage to get back up. He soon finds that out when the creature grabs him by his right shoulder. And just when the creature is about to dig its claws into the Red Ranger's suit, he breaks free and punches it away from him. Determined to not lose, the creature gets up and heads towards the Red Ranger again. So what does the Red Ranger do? It's simple. He arches up his left leg and says.
Red Ranger-Here's a hot foot for ya!
With those words said. The bottom of the Red Ranger's left boot catches aflame. Stupidly the winged gremlin still is determined to get the Red Ranger, and all he has to do is give the creature a fierce kick to its face, which he does. Anyway with the kick administered, the winged gremlin's face catches aflame as its body is flung away by the ferocity of the Red Ranger's kick. Eventually the winged gremlin blows up.
Unbelievably, several winged gremlins who happen to be the last ones around so far fly up into the sky and target the Yellow, White and Black Rangers. They quickly prepare themselves to administer a suitable counter attack. The Yellow Ranger's body suit glows brightly yellow for when she leaps up into the sky which coincidentally has just produced a cloud hovering over the winged gremlins. The Yellow Ranger won't be seen until the time is right, and at the same time, both the White and Black Rangers take out their laser pistols and aim directly at the winged beasts. The two Rangers hear their friend's voice in the clouds.
Yellow Ranger-Fire, now!
And they do so. With the many blasts being shot out from the laser pistols, the cloud over the winged gremlins shoots out a very powerful lightning bolt as these words are heard.
Yellow Ranger-YELLOW LIGHTNING STRIKE!
The powerful lightning bolt along with the many blasts of power strike all of the winged gremlins at once and completely destroys them. When complete. The lightning bolt flashes down on the ground and transforms back into the Yellow Ranger.
The remaining alive but very badly hurt winged gremlins get up and disappear in a frantic heap.
The Power Rangers regroup and remove their helmets.. Nakia says to Ryan.
Nakia-How'd you guys know I was in trouble?
Ryan-Jeremy contacted us.
Zelda isn't looking so well. She's sick.. She sneezes suddenly and coughs a few times.. Nakia asks her.
Nakia-You okay?
She looks at her and responds.
Zelda-No I don't feel well.
Nakia-What's wrong?
Zelda-Earlier this morning I felt myself getting sick. And now after the fight.. I feel a bit worse.
Nakia-Oh no. That's too bad.
Zelda-Tell me about it.
Queen Minerva watches the Rangers through her crystal ball.. She says to herself now that she sees them all without their helmets.
Queen Minerva-Hmmm. Interesting powers for humans to have.
Back to the Rangers.
Nakia tells everyone about Brett's invitation.. And the fact that she's inviting them to go as well. Zelda responds.
Zelda-I'd love to go but I don't I should. I don't want to end up getting worse.
Nakia-I understand. Maybe if you did go. The mountain air would help you feel better.
Zelda-Hmmm. Maybe I will go.
Kimberly-I'll go. Anything to get out of this town for a while.
Joey-I'd go if I didn't have other plans.
Kimberly looks at him and asks.
Kimberly-What other plans?
Joey-I'm going to be building up a portfolio. For a photography job I'm going after.
Kimberly-Oh I see. That's cool.
Nakia looks at Chet. He responds.
Chet-The mountains aren't really for me.
Zelda sneezes twice. She says afterwards.
Zelda-Oh jeez, excuse me.
She rubs her nose.
Ryan says to everyone.
Ryan-I really have to go pick up my car. I'll see you all later on today.
Nakia looks at him and speaks.
Nakia-Okay.
The day moves along, the sun begins to radiate its beautiful colorful setting look.. Nakia is home packing a few things. She has on the same outfit she wore earlier. Everyone else is home packing too except for Chet and Joey. She has already talked to Brett and told him about Ryan and her friends coming along, he seemed to be less than enthused because he wanted to be alone with her to express his feelings.. Nakia knew this and the fact of the situation made her uncomfortable, that's why she invited everyone else, I added that just in case you haven't figured it out.
Ryan stops by Nakia's house with his car all repaired and looking better than before.. She rushes out with a big suitcase, oh by the way she put on a long yellow jacket because its going to be chilly up in the mountains. Ryan stops her when he gets out of the car wearing a pair of really nice looking red dimmed jeans, a burgundy t shirt, a thin red jacket and black tennis shoes. He takes a hold of the suitcase for her.. He protests slightly simply because the suitcase is really heavy.
Ryan-Dang girl! What did you pack in this thing?
Nakia laughs.
Nakia-Just stuff I'll need while I'm there at the cabin.
Ryan-You're not going to be there for the whole year.. Jeez.
Nakia laughs again and the two walk over to the car.. Ryan puts the suitcase on the ground and opens up the trunk door of his car. He picks up the suitcase again with strain but manages to put it in his trunk gently.. He stretches a bit before closing the trunk and getting back into the drivers seat.. Nakia gets into the passengers seat and closes the door. She asks Ryan.
Nakia-I noticed you didn't pack anything.
Ryan-Yes I did.
Nakia-There's nothing else in the trunk except for my suitcase.
Ryan looks in the back and pulls out a medium sized knap sack.. Nakia looks at it and says.
Nakia-What's in there?
Ryan-Change of clothes for a few days. I didn't need to pack a whole lot of stuff like you did.
Nakia-Yeah the knap sack proves it.
She chuckles. He puts the knap sack back and starts up the car.
Nakia-Ok so we're going to pick up Zelda and Kimberly. Then go to Brett's place so we can follow him to the cabin.
Ryan-Righto!
He chuckles and presses on the accelerator.
Queen Minerva thinks to herself as her evil court awaits to hear what she has to say as they all reside within their new earthly base.
She speaks.
Queen Minerva-The Power Rangers have great energy. More energy than the pitiful humans on this planet combined. They defeated the winged warriors.. Hmmm.
Princess Andromeda-Should we focus our attacks just on them auntie?
Queen Minerva-For the time being, no. I still want to go with my original plan.
Princess Andromeda-Yes.
Queen Minerva-We must capture energy soon. With no flaws!
Princess Andromeda-Our next move?
Queen Minerva-Patience. I will inform you when I return from my resting chamber.
She gives Makozi an obvious look as in asking "I do have a resting chamber here, don't I?" Makozi gets the idea and responds quickly.
Makozi-Your resting chamber is down the long corridor Queen Minerva.
Queen Minerva-Excellent.
The Queen raises her right arm.. This gesture makes her body sparkle and sizzle with a red energy that causes her body to disappear from her throne room and into her resting chamber.
Ryan and Nakia have picked up Zelda, and Kimberly who did pack suitably sized suitcases, not as big as Nakia's.. They have managed to fit them into Ryan's trunk.
Now they get into the back seat of the car.. Zelda is wearing blue jeans, a pink shirt, a pair of white comforter shoes and a black jacket. She's still not feeling all that good. Her nose is a little bit red. She also brought a lot of Kleenex boxes and medicine. Kimberly has on a white t shirt, a pair of dark black pants, blue and white tennis shoes and a white jacket..
When the car doors are closed and securely locked, Ryan starts up the ignition.. He then drives on to get to Brett's apartment.
Joey is at the old weather station with Jeremy..
Jeremy of course is monitoring the city with the help of his main computer. Joey is trying out his new camera, well not exactly trying it out.. He's just looking over it before going out to take some beautiful looking pictures of life in general tomorrow morning.
Chet is at home watching TV. He's glad to be able to relax for a while. And something I really have to say is now. Although he and Zelda went out on a sort of date.. They discussed things and eventually decided that being friends is best. Simply because Chet was extremely nervous during the whole time. It's one of the reasons why he decided to stay home instead of going with his friends to the mountains.
After making it to Brett's apartment.. Everyone settles down in Ryan's car.. Brett gets into his pick up truck after putting a few things in the back.. He's wearing a muscle t shirt, a pair of black shorts with red stripes on the side and black sandals. He gets into his truck and starts it up. Now he presses on the accelerator and moves ahead.. Ryan follows..
Zelda starts sneezing a bit.. She asks Kimberly in a stuffy tone.
Zelda-Can you hand me the Kleenex box please? I think its over by you.
Kimberly looks around and sees one of the Kleenex boxes behind her on the car's back window siding.. She gets it and hands it to Zelda.
Zelda-Thank you.
Kimberly-Your welcome. I hope I don't catch your cold.
Zelda-Blah.
Zelda blows her nose on one Kleenex, then puts it in a small trash can she brought and set down by her feet.
Princess Andromeda gets bored.. So she sits on the Queen's throne and brings forth the Queen's crystal ball within their new base.. Myanthor strongly suggests against what the Princess is doing.
Myanthor-Princess Andromeda, I really think you should get out off of the Queen's throne and leave her crystal ball be.
She gazes at him only for a mere second, then she returns her attention back to glowing crystal ball. She responds to Myanthor's suggestion.
Princess Andromeda-Auntie Minerva won't mind.. Especially if I can find a way to get the Ranger's energies.
Myanthor-I don't think she'd want you messing with her crystal ball.
Shyantis-I agree.
The Princess snaps at Shyantis.
Princess Andromeda-NO ONE ASKED YOU, SHYANTHIS!
Shyanthis-You are a spoiled..
The Princess interrupts abruptly with a mean retort.
Princess Andromeda-One more word out of you Shyantis and I'll turn you into something useful… Like a pair of nice slippers for me..
The Princess smirks, but Shyantis doesn't.. She backs down..
Princess Andromeda speaks out to the entire evil court.
Princess Andromeda-I'm in charge as of now. When my auntie awakens then she will take over.
No one dares to argue..
The evil Princess now looks at the crystal ball.. And here comes an image, of Ryan driving along in his car with his friends inside.
Princess Andromeda-Ah, the Power Rangers.. Let's have some fun with them..
She giggles.
Princess Andromeda-Hmm Let me think.
Myanthor speaks out again in protest.
Myanthor-Princess don't use the Queen's crystal ball.. It is only for her power.
Princess Andromeda-I know that you idiot! That's why I'm going to use my magic hand held crystallized mirror..
She materializes a beautiful looking mirror that has a long stem base for the princess to hold. It has two diamonds around its circular base, and a red ruby at the top. The Princess takes a hold of it and sighs with relief.
Princess Andromeda-I'm soo glad nothing happened to my beautiful mirror. I don't know how I would of gotten along without it.
The evil beings of the court look at each other in puzzlement, yet they say nothing.
Princess Andromeda-And now to cause a case of trouble for those Ranger morons.
She looks deeply into her mirror and speaks out.
Princess Andromeda-Mirror, create something horrid and send it to the Rangers.. Cause confusion amongst wherever they're going.. Do it now!
The mirror lights up magically and obeys.
Seconds later, Brett who's in his pick up truck, and Ryan along with Nakia, Zelda and Kimberly in his car and following behind Brett, make it to a very long and deserted road. The road is harbored by a hot desert with huge dirty mountains that I believe are just around for a rocky scenery. The sun is still setting, the time now is 8:30p.m. and soon the sun will be gone till the next day of course.
Zelda is sneezing a bit and coughing.. Kimberly sighs and feels sleepy.. Nakia is bored already and is wondering when are they going to get to the cabin.
Suddenly the air fills with a misty type of power that totally blinds Ryan from seeing anything on the road.. Also, Brett can't see anything either.. Zelda asks stuffily.
Zelda-Where did all this mist come from?
Kimberly looks around as if she's searching for an answer.
Kimberly-I really wish I knew the answer to that.
Nakia-This is totally weird.
Ryan slows down and soon after doing so, he decides to stop the car and park along side the road but not too close to the road because he doesn't want any passing car to accidentally hit his. Nakia looks at him and asks.
Nakia-You think Brett stopped too?
Ryan-If he has common sense.
Nakia-Hmmm.
Kimberly-Anybody want to get out?
Zelda-For what? We should just let the mist pass on.
Everyone else agrees and doesn't bother to say anything more on it. That is until they hear a loud thumb on the front hood of Ryan's car.. He exclaims.
Ryan-Oooooohh Man! I really hope no body hit my car! I just had it fixed!
Nakia-Ryan calm down. Let's check it out.
Ryan-Allright.
He opens up his door, and so do the others.. They get out but don't walk anywhere simply because the mist is really thickening up.
Nakia-Gosh! Where is all this mist coming from?!
Zelda coughs first then answers.
Zelda-Maybe Brett led us down the wrong way.
Kimberly-I'll have to second that.
Ryan-Was it intentional or a stupid mistake..
Nakia-Ryan.. You can't believe he'd take us the wrong way for the heck of it.
Ryan-I don't know babe. He's made it clear he still has feelings for you. And the fact that I came along. Well that may of pushed him to lead us the wrong way.
Nakia-That's crazy talk Ryan. How would he know about the thick mist?
Ryan-Don't know. Just call what I said a theory.
Nakia sighs..
Soon the mist gets so thick that Ryan along with the others can't see each other. They exclaim.
Zelda-Oh no! I can't..
She sneezes twice before continuing.
Zelda-See anything!
Kimberly-Where did everybody go!?
Nakia-This is turning out to be really bad.
Ryan-Don't panic everyone. Just stay exactly where you are..
Luckily the doors are opened and everyone is standing in between those and the seats inside the car. Ryan then says.
Ryan-Let's just get back in the car and hope this mess clears up.
Kimberly-Good idea.
Nakia-Don't you want to check out what that loud thump was?
Ryan-I'd love too. But something in the air is trying to tell me something.. Like um I can't see well enough to check it out yet.
Nakia laughs and so do Zelda and Kimberly.. When they stop.. Nakia adds.
Nakia-Good comeback Ryan. You're getting almost as good as me.
Ryan-Hahaha..
Soon they all get back into the car.. They shut the doors and lock them.. Just before anyone has the chance to talk.. They hear a faint laugh coming through the mist.
