Chapter Fourteen
New Day, Weird Problems
"So…this is a bit awkward isn't it?" Mina asked as she was eating the food made by Midnight along with some of Lily's food.
"You're telling me. I had no idea that there can be more than just one grand servant in the world." Lily said as she eyed Mina up and down. "And the divine spirit that you have is named Kama, goddess of love?"
"Yeah, at least that's what she told me."
"...You know what. It makes sense that you would get her…though if history is correct, Kama is supposed to be a male, not a female." She said as Mina blinked upon hearing this. "So technically you got a guy living inside you."
"...Kama, is what Lily is saying is true?" Mina asked as a mini version of the divine spirit appeared next to her.
"Well, technically yes. But apparently, I was summoned as a female. Then again after what happened with Shiva and how he killed me, I don't really have a physical form in a way." Kama said as she noticed Mina was about to say something but quickly stopped her. "Look it up yourself or wait for me to trust you more. Otherwise, that's all you're getting nothing out of me." She said which caused the pink girl to pout. "Though I'm a bit surprised you know about me."
"You can thank Artoria for that," Lily said as a mini version of Artoria appeared next to her.
"Ah, so you have the king of storms. It makes sense how well you fought yesterday in your fight with the boy who can use ice as a weapon."
"Yeah, not something I enjoyed seeing how he was only using half of his power," Lily said, still annoyed with the fight.
"You won the fight, let it go, Lily," Artoria said as Lily huffed in annoyance. "For now let's focus on the task at hand."
"You mean dealing with the beast?" Mina asked. "Because Kama informed me on what I have to do before accepting her offer to be a Grand Servant."
"I'm a bit surprised that you would accept the offer without a second thought." Lily as said Mina smiled sheepishly.
"W-Well it's no different than being a hero. The only difference is that I'll be fighting against the beasts. I mean, yeah it's going to be scary, but it's not like I can ignore it…plus I wanted to know more about how your quirk works." Mina said with a smirk on her face.
"...Crap."
"Haha! So you were lying the whole time yesterday about your quirk!"
"Well, it's not like I can tell the truth without proof. I'm labeled as the villain killer. Do you think people would believe me without proof?"
"I mean yeah, but still. You could've told me at least. We're friends after all…right?"
"Yes we are…it's just that…it's hard to trust people…And I know using the excuse of me living in the slums is getting old, but old habits are hard to get rid of. Plus…I didn't want to screw up your life. I mean what would your parents say…oh shit, what did your parents say about the way you look?"
"Oh, don't worry about it. They're mostly busy with their work overseas, so I can just say that it's my quirk developing or something…Oh crap, what about Mr. Aizawa? What's he going to say about seeing me like this?"
"Well, we could use the same excuse you would use when it comes to your parents. But something tells me that it won't work on him, so just say that my quirk did this to you and I'll just bullcrap my way out of it. Hey, what kind of powers do you have other than make people fall in love with you or with each other?"
"As the Grand Assassin of this world. She has multiple abilities. Presence concealment, Magic Resistance, archery skills, hand to hand combat skills, magic, and you can make multiple copies of yourself thanks to having a small portion of Mara's ability in me." Kama answered as it caused Mina and Lily to have dumbfounded expressions on their faces.
"...I'm sorry what?" Both Mina and Lily said in union.
"You can thank the two of the skills that Mara has. Remember, I'm the part of the side of Kama that wants to save humanity. Mara is the side that wants to corrupt it. So it wouldn't be a surprise If I have some of her skills seeing how we're two half of the same coin. Mara was endowed with a high degree of diversity when it comes to shape and ability to answer the worldly desires of the multitude of humans inhabiting this world. This diversity has been sublimated into a more specific form by the addition of the nature of infinity known as the universe. It is an Authority that makes sure that every worldly desire inhabiting this universe is cuddled close together, pampered, and corrupted. A theorem that, innumerable like stardust, there are freely customizable "all-accepting versions of her". In other words, your body is a portal that leads to a pocket universe where the clones reside inside, and you can summon them at any time. Though your limit is about a hundred."
"...Is what Kama saying is true?" Lily asked as Artoria nodded. "Oh god no."
"Oh god yes! Can you imagine what I can do with clones of myself!?"
"I can think of a few things, but I get the feeling that it's not going to be a good thing." She said before noticing a devilish grin on Mina's face. "If you even think about pranking me, be warned. I will hunt you down and hurt you."
"I doubt you'll be able to find to real me~"
"There is a slight difference between you and the clones. Specifically, they don't have the same clothes that you have on." Kama said before pointing to herself. "Pretty much what they'll be wearing unless you give them clothes of their own." She said as Mina's devilish grin quickly vanished and was replaced with a sheepish smile. Though a devilish grin was now on Lily's face as Mina shivers upon seeing her expression.
"Good to know," Lily said before finishing her meal. "Okay, so Mina's an assassin, and I'm pretty much a saber. That would mean we'll be getting five more grand servants appearing sooner or later."
"There are different classes of servants?" Mina asked as the divine spirits and Lily nodded.
"The main seven classes are Saber, Archer, Lancer, Assassin, Caster, Rider, and Berserker. There are some extra classes as well, but I'll go into detail about it later, " Artoria said as she made seven images of the class's logo in front of Mina and Lily. "Lily's the grand servant for the Lancer-class servants, and you Mina are the grand servant for the Assassin class."
"Is there a difference between each class?"
"The Lancer-class is one of the Three Knight Classes among the seven standard Servant classes summoned for the Holy Grail War. Servants placed within this class, many of which are Heroic Spirits who were knights, are very agile, display excellent close combat skills, show proficiency in hit-and-run tactics that capitalize on range and speed, and are skilled with long-range melee weapons such as spears and lances. Though I fall under that category of both Saber and Lancer due to obtaining Excalibur. I can be summoned as a lancer with a double class skill that allows me to use both Excalibur and the holy spear, Rhongomyniad."
"Wait, you can use a spear and a sword Lily?"
"For the most part. Not good with using Rhongomyniad seeing how I've been using a sword for the past ten years…and the spear is very hard to control without Artoria's help…I can't use it on my own just yet. Hence why I'm using Excalibur until I'm strong enough to wield the holy spear."
"Oh come on, it can't be that hard to control it…right?"
"Rhongomyniad is a divine construct that anchors the layers of the world. The holy spear fastens the planet together to ensure that the world of humans on the outermost layer of the world can't be destroyed by those on the Reverse Side who wish to reenact the Age of the Gods. Specifically, the reverse side of the world that retains the age of the gods and houses phantasmal species instead of humans." Artoria answered.
"...And the planet chose me!?" Lily said in disbelief from what she heard. "How is this even a thing!?"
"If it makes you feel better, there are thirteen restraints on it that prevent it from being used to its full power. Hence why it's in the form of a lance."
"Oh yeah, that makes things even better that I have a lance that breaks the laws of reality itself!" Lily said in a sarcastic tone.
"Well, it's not like you have a choice given what you two will be fighting," Kama said as the bunny girl rolled her eyes to her comment.
"Back to what I was saying," Artoria said before looking over at Mina. "I'm sure Kama mentioned what class you're in, but she might've not been specific with what she means. You're an assassin. Silent Killer and Heroic Spirit of Assassinations. Extremely skilled at covert, stealthy, and silent operations. Normally one of the nineteen Hassan-i-Sabbah, expert heroic spirits of assassination would be summoned, but this isn't the holy grail war."
"Your tools as an assassin are as follows. The sugarcane bow and an assortment of arrows. Normal arrows, I prefer not to have you shoot people and make them fall in love with…whoever. Martial art skills, weapon mastery over the bow and throwing knives, and the flames of Shiva, which can burn just about anything. There's also the Vajra…but I think I'll hold off on you using it until you can show me you can master the bow and flames." Kama said as Mina nodded.
"Makes sense…I take it you want me to help her in that department." Lily asked as Kama nodded.
"Only with how to work her new body. Once she gets the hang of it, then I can manage the rest."
"Fair enough." She said before getting up from her seat and began making her way to her room.
"Where are you going?" Mina asked as Lily stopped and turned her attention onto the pink girl.
"Classes are about to start. Much as I would like to walk around in my undies at school, I prefer not to get into a long lecture by Aizawa or Iida." She said before walking off as Artoria vanished into golden dust.
"But you're not wearing a bra! Just a pair of men's boxers!" She said before realizing something. "Why aren't you wearing any girl's underwear!?"
"Because they're being washed, I don't have an extra pair, and boxers are more comfortable to wear than women's panties!" Lily yelled from around the corner as it caused Mina to be dumbfounded by her response.
"...I like her. Not in a loving way, but in a way that she's blunt and doesn't care what people think of her." Kama said before vanishing in a puff of blue smoke.
The school bell rang, indicating that school was about to start. The students of U.A. began making their way to either the cafeteria to get something to eat before the first period, chatting with their friends, or something else involving school-related stuff. Yep, everything was about as normal as a high school for up-and-coming heroes…though normal isn't something that this school will be having anytime soon as the pair of Pseudo Servants make their way down the hallway to their class. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that they could hear people talking about the way Mina looked.
"This is kind of embarrassing," Mina said as she noticed some of the students looking at her while gossiping with each other as she and Lily made their way through the hallway.
"Understandable. I mean you look like you have the cosmos in your arms…it's oddly satisfying to watch it glow like that."
"Well I'm glad you find my new look rather appealing, but that doesn't help the way that I'm feeling."
"Like I said before. Just let me take the blame if things turn out bad."
"I can't just do that. I mean it's not even your fault that I'm like this."
"Maybe, but it's not like they won't suspect that I had something to do with it later on," Lily said as they both stopped in front of their homeroom. "Look I got your back if anything happens. Let's just take this one step at a time, and pray that this doesn't get weird." She said before noticing Mina raising an eyebrow at her. "I mean weirder than how this school is…Maybe nobody will notice."
"If you say so," Mina said as she watched Lily open the door to their classroom. Upon entering, Lily noticed some of their classmates were inside chatting with one another or waiting for class to start. So far the class didn't notice her entering the room as she motions for Mina to follow inside. Lily was thinking that she and Mina were in the clear…only for Kaminari to speak up.
"Whoa, Mina! What happened to you!" Kaminari yelled as it caused everyone in the classroom to turn their attention to the doorway and saw Lily and Mina.
"Dammit, Kaminari," Lily whispered as she looked over at Mina who had a sheepish grin on her face. "Well, there goes trying to not look suspicious."
"H-Hey guys…I'm how's everyone doing today~?" She asked while trying to play it cool.
"What happened to your arms and legs?" Uraraka asked as she walked over to Mina to examine her along with some of the students in her class doing the same. "It looks like you have the cosmos in your arms."
"Um…yeah…you see."
"She looks pretty cool. The sharpened horn and new tail are a pretty nice touch. She almost looks like a dragon." Mineta said as it caused Mina to blush a bit.
"Only thing missing is her ability to breathe fire. Then that would be pretty cool." Kaminari said as Lily rolled her eyes.
"And your hair changed." Hagakure said as she touched it. "It's so soft and silvery. Is this some kind of cosmetic or something?"
"Um…No…this is what I look like," Mina said before looking over at Lily in a slight hesitation. "It's due to Lily's quirk." She said, which caused everyone to look over at Lily.
"Yeah…turns out my quirk can augment and evolve a person's body and quirk. It happened when I used the gemstones on her in yesterday's fight with Iida and Bakugo."
"Wait, I thought you could only fly, shoot lasers, and create swords?" Momo said as Lily shrugged.
"Don't know how my quirk works. I'm just going by what I know…which is not a lot given how I don't know who my real parents are."
"So your quirk can evolve a person's physical body and their quirk?" Midoriya asked as Lily shrugged.
"I suppose so. It would explain a few things on my part. But I guess I can do that." She said before noticing Midoriya pulling out a notebook and pen as he began writing in it.
"A quirk that allows you to evolve a person's physical body and their quirk. This is simply amazing! Imagine how many heroes you could help. No, not just heroes, but people with weakened bodies. Changeling their body on a scientific level, enhancing their quirks to that of something else. The possibilities are endless!"
"Seriously!? Dude, you got to try your quirk out on me!" Kaminari asked. "Can you imagine how awesome I would be if I could make a sword made out of lightning!"
"Do me next!" Kirishima asked. "If I can increase my hardening quirk to the point where it lasts longer, I'd be unstoppable!"
"Yeah, I suppose," Lily said as she leaned back against the wall with her arms folded. "Keep in mind that I don't have any control over how my quirk works. Could take a few days, weeks, months, hell maybe a year."
"What a useless quirk," Bakugo said as everyone turned their attention to him. "For a girl who calls herself a villain killer, you don't seem to be good at knowing how your quirk works."
"Fuck you Bakugo, at least I don't have a scar that's going horizontally across my chest, and lost in a humiliating way to the villain killer which if you forgot, was me~"
"You just got lucky! Next time I'll be sure to take you down!"
"Luck has nothing to do with it, spoiled brat. You lost because I was more skilled in combat than you were and I worked together with my partner. Unlike you who thinks he's hot shit, but isn't. Instead, you're just a spoiled brat who thought he could win by having an awesome quirk. God your parents did a shitty job raising you if your personality is like this." She said as Bakugo glared at Lily while standing up from his desk. He was about to storm over to her, only for Iida to get in between him and his path to Lily.
"That's enough out of you two. The class is about to start. You don't want Mr. Aizawa to punish you both, do you?" Iida asked as Bakugo snorted in annoyance before heading back to his seat. The class representative let out a sigh of relief before turning his attention to Lily.
"I'm a bit surprised that you would stop him."
"Don't get the wrong idea. I only did it so that there wouldn't be violence between two classmates." He said before returning to his seat but stopped halfway to look at Lily. "I meant what I said before. Someone like you shouldn't be allowed to be in this school. I'll tolerate the fact that you're a classmate, but I will not acknowledge you as a hero."
"Whatever you say, rich boy." She said before hearing the door to the classroom open. The pseudo servant turned her attention from Iida to the door as Aizawa entered the classroom. He was about to say something as to why some of the students weren't in their seats, only to lock eyes with Mina and her new look. He looked at her for a good few seconds before looking over at Lily and everyone moved to their seats.
"...What did you do?" he said while glaring at her.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Lily said as she was about to take her seat, only for Aizawa's capturing scarf to stop her as she felt it wrap around her arm.
"What did you do?" Aizawa asked in a more threatening tone. Lily simply rolled her eyes to this as she used her magic to cut the piece of the cloth wrapped around her wrist.
"Fine. If you must know, it turns out I can evolve and change a person's quirk. Don't know how it works but it seems to happen when I used one of the gemstones on Mina the other day during training." She said as Aizawa looked over at Mina who gave him a sheepish smile and waved at him. Aizawa lets out a sigh of annoyance before returning his captured cloth to him.
"Anyone else you used those stones on?"
"Well other than Mina and Mineta. No one else." She said before taking her seat.
"You three will report to Recovery Girl's office after Lunch," Aizawa said before walking over to the front of the class. "We have a lot to do seeing how Lily was out of commission yesterday. We'll be going over the results of yesterday's training exercise." He said before looking at Bakugo. "Bakugo, you lost the match because you didn't cooperate with your partner better. Had it been a real thing, you would've been fired on the spot. Learn from this and try to improve yourself. He said before looking over at Iida. "Iida, you did a good job at trying to apprehend the bomb and understood what the exercise was about. But you need not let your partner walk over you, less you want what happened yesterday to happen again."
"Yes sir," Iida said as Bakugo snorted in annoyance.
"Todoroki. You have a handle on your ice quirk, but you didn't use the fire part of it when you unthawed Hagakure and Ojiro's feet. If you thought you could win against Lily with half your strength, then you underestimated her. Which is something no one should do. Because of that, your team lost the match, and your partner was injured severely because of that." He said as Lily looked over at Shoji as he had some bandages on parts of his body that showed his skin. Mainly his arms and neck areas of his body.
"Didn't think using the enhancement stone on Mineta would make him that strong," Lily said before noticing Aizawa's gaze locked onto her. "Here we go, better brace myself."
"Lily…much as I hate to say this. You did a good job. You cooperated with your partners in defending and capturing the bomb. Support them even when you couldn't be with them. And provided protection. This would make you a hero…if it wasn't for the fact that the injuries you inflicted on Bakugo and Iida weren't to the point of killing them."
"Well, that is the point of how I fight. I don't hold back when it comes to fighting. If my enemies are going to try and kill me, then I should do the same. Holding back is both an insult and a danger when a villain pulls out something to give them the advantage."
"That may be true, but you're not killing people, you're trying to arrest them so they wouldn't cause any damage. Not to kill them. Keep in mind that you're being given a second chance at life in becoming a hero, kid."
"Yeah, yeah, keep telling yourself that's why I'm here," Lily said as she leaned back in her seat. "I'll be sure not to beat them to the point of almost killing them." She said as Aizawa simply shook his head in disappointment before continuing to read off the results of their training session.
