Life resettled itself after the fateful trial.
Phoenix Wright successfully won his first trial after rejoining the judiciary, defending Larry Butz against charges of ticket scalping.
Franziska von Karma prosecuted Manny Coachen, successfully breaking up the Red Carnation syndicate and sentencing their leader to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
After his full recovery, Valant Gramyere paid a visit to Trucy Wright. Together, and along with Trucy's adopted siblings, they agreed to stage several shows at Gatewater Land.
Kristoph Gavin never left prison, and his mind never returned to normal.
But for some, peace still had to be sought out.
Klaire Gavin took her seat. Her cell was a small one, but at least she did not have to share it with a roommate. She was getting used to routine in the prison. Wake up, leave the cell, stand at attention during headcount, return to the cell. She had not recieved too much trouble from her fellow inmates for having been a former bailiff.
But no one had been particularly friendly, either.
At least she still had Apollo's letters. They exchanged notes at least a month.
And one day, the guard brought something else into the cell.
It was a small cardboard box. Klaire held it uncertainly, sitting a little straighter in her seat on the cot. Finally, she used a fingernail to cut the tape. She looked inside to find, of all things, a small disc player. She pulled it out and checked the side hatch; there was a disc inside. With more than a little hesitation, she pushed the central button.
She beheld Kristoph, stringing a guitar as he sung. There was no stage or backscreen behind him; just a green hill under the blue sky. It was a private performance. Just for her.
Klaire smiled and cried at once.
Edgeworth looked out at the landscape of the park. He had finally achieved peace and quiet. The media circus over the trial of Manny Coachen had finally died down, and he had been sitting contently in his office until he got the call from Detective Kay Faraday.
He did not see anything that indicated trouble. Just the trees, the water fountain, the occasional dog walker...
"Hey, there!"
Edgeworth almost jumped out of his skin before he mustered the nerve to turn around to Detective Faraday. She chuckled as he tried his best tor regain his composure.
"Hello, Detective. What is the situation?"
Detective Faraday thumbed her nose. "Oh, none."
"...None?"
"It's just...this is my first time at this park. I wanted you to see it, too."
Edgeworth still had a flicker of mortification in his eyes, but he nodded. And the corner of his mouth turned upward.
"I see."
"Thanks again for the the coffee."
"Don't be. You paid this time."
Apollo shrugged and chuckled. Across from him, Reina wiped off her lips with her napkin. It was good that the taste of cappuccino remained.
"So, is life...going okay?"
Apollo scratched his head. "Getting by...I have some new clients, some new cases. I have the paperwork to look forward to."
"On my own end, Ivory Motel is running well. I'll be on my new venture soon enough. And...sorry, but this place's stuff isn't quite as good as the others."
Apollo shrugged good-naturedly.
"Can I pick the...third place?"
Apolo felt something rise in him. Anxiety and confusion, sure, but more than either of that, he felt his confidence surge.
"No problem."
Phoenix looked across at Franziska.
"Let me tell tell you, these past few years...well, have been nothing short of a rollercoaster." He grinned. "But there's nobody I'd have rather have gone on it with."
Franziska smiled tenderly. "Same for you."
Even their children, even the excitable Trucy, sat quietly on the sofa before the touching moment. Next to the sofa, Lamiroir sat straight in her soft chair. She did not have to see anything to treasure the picture before her.
Phoenix's throat tightened. Tonight was the night to break the biggest secret he had to offer.
Soon enough, Apollo came in through the door of the Wright Anything Agency. He looked momentarily surprised by the gathering, but waved his hand.
"Hey, everyone! I didn't know we were having guests! Or...or having a meeting, or discussing cases after hours..."
"None of those things, Apollo." Phoenix shook his head. "None of those things."
He took a step forward, then gestured towards Lamiroir.
"Apollo, Trucy...I want you to introduce you to your mother."
