P.S. Re-updated with another ending!

The anniversary event was being held in the event hall next to the gym, which just so happened the serve as an adjunct for the Jones' to keep supplies in the back. Santana held her heels in her hand as she made her way up the stairs, excusing herself as she walked through some of the caterers as they were putting the appetizers out. She looked around and was amazed at how beautiful everything had turned out. She had known that Rose and Mercedes had been working extremely hard in order to make this successful and memorable. Speaking of her best friend, she spotted her in the center talking to some of the wait staff. As she approached, she watched as she gave them a nod and smile before they left.

Mercedes picked up the bracelet and placed it on her wrist, glancing over when she heard somebody walking, she saw that it was Santana, "Hey, you look beautiful."

"Thank you, so do you." The woman commented as she came closer to her, sitting her shoes down in the seat, "At the very last minute, I decided to curl my hair so that's why I'm late."

Mercedes laughed a bit as she grabbed the paper from the table, moving over to the bar area and handing it to the bartender before returning to her friend, "Typical indecisive Santana."

Santana snorted as she crossed her arms, "We haven't had time to talk about that stunt that girl pulled from on TV. You're not taking the bait….right?"

"I'm still thinking." She told the other woman as she watched the people light the floating candles in the centerpieces, "Everyone is trying to talk me out of it but it's ultimately my choice."

Santana nodded her head as she stared at her for a moment, getting the hint that she was about to get frustrated with that topic, "How are you? You know after the whole out of touch with reality thing, I've been really worried about you."

"I'm fine." She responded as she turned to the side to look at her, "It just really put a lot of things in perspective for me."

"Like if Sam knocked you up for real, you'll be okay with it?"

Mercedes stared at her for a moment before speaking, looking down at the ground as she played with her fingers, "Is it a bad thing if I feel that way?"

"No. You're allowed to change your mind."

"I feel like a hypocrite for so many reasons." She said recalling the events in which different types of baby conversations has taken place between them, "I'm not saying it as I intend to get pregnant but if it happens, I'm not going to be distraught about it."

"I understand but just know, it's your life and you're the decider in it, no one else. Same goes for any other decision that you want to make."

Mercedes gave her a small smile, "Thanks sis."

Santana gave her a nod before she picked up her shoes, "Believe it or not, I'm still not ready so let me go do that."

Mercedes chuckled as she shook her head, hearing the band starting to play, she knew that it was time for the guests to start coming in.

Sam gave the people a nod as he walked through the crowd. To no surprise at all, the place was packed. He had only a brief chance to see his girlfriend but she was swept away by some of her dad's old friends, and much to his dismay, people started to come up to him to talk. Finally being able to escape, and learning some questionable revelations, he found Mercedes leaning against one of the tall tables, drinking champagne, "Rumors are swirling around that you have accepted challenge. Care to confirm right here and right now?"

Mercedes turned to the side when she heard the man, his eyebrow raised questionably, "False. I haven't made a decision yet."

"Okay." He let out a breath that he didn't know he was holding as he stared down at her, "But weigh your pros and cons….please."

"I will." Mercedes reassured him, watching as he pulled her closer to him, closing her eyes his lips brushed against her forehead, "I promise."

Sam let her go as he continued to stare at her, a sight of a lopsided grin appearing on his face, "You really look beautiful."

"Thank you." She glanced behind him, seeing someone coming that he for sure needed to have a conversation with, she cleared her throat and looked at him as she stepped back, "I just remembered I need to get something for Gill. I'll be right back."

Sam watched as she gave him a quick kiss before leaving, picking up her abandoned flute from the table, he turned around, only to come to a stop when he was faced with the one person he was hoping to avoid tonight. His mother.

"Please don't walk away." Emily watched her son as she moved closer to him, seeing the look of regret cross his face, "You've been ignoring my calls ever since I got in town."

"With reason." He responded flatly, but with no disrespect. When he had found out she was indeed here, he did his very best to avoid her but he knew that it was inevitable due to tonight.

"I'm sorry that I didn't tell you." She told him, watching as his eyes stayed focused on the crowd, "I was so caught up in wanting to protect you that I didn't realize how much damage I was actually doing."

"I'm surprised you want to talk to your disappointment about this now."

Emily's face fell as she felt tears stinging in her eyes. She knew it. As soon as the words left her mouth, she knew that he would take them in another way, "I was talking about your temperament, Sam. Your need to act before you think. You're far from a disappointment and I hate that I made you feel that way." She wiped her tears away with her hand, "Believe me when I say that I'm so proud of you. It's an honor to call you my son. You and Sabrina are the best things that has ever happened to me. I wouldn't be me if it wasn't for you two and I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for you."

Sam hated when she cried and he hated the fact that he was the reason for it. Even though he was hurt and angry about this situation, when he calmed down and was able to rationalize, thanks to help of his girlfriend, he knew that his mother wouldn't have kept this from him without a reason. It still hurt but it hurt him more to see her hurt. He leaned over and wrapped his arms around her, "I'm sorry."

Emily hugged him back tightly before leaning back and placing her hands on his face, "I love you so much, don't ever forget that."

Sam nodded his head as he stared at her, "I love you too, mom."

Emily smiled at him before leaning forward and kissing his cheek, letting go, "Now if you'll excuse me, Rose wanted me to help her. I'll catch you later, okay?"

Sam nodded as she let go of him, a heavy weight lifted off his chest as he turned around, feeling someone's hand sliding through his, he glanced down and saw Mercedes, looking at him with a curious expression.

"Everything good?"

"Yes, yes it is."

Mercedes smiled at him as she gave his hand a squeeze before giving him a hug. She was so happy that him and his mom made up. She hated seeing them both in the situation that they were in, "So…when are we re-meeting your step-dad?"

"Not funny." He cut his eyes at her, her lips twitching as laughter surpassed her lips, "Still not feeling him."

"You haven't had a real, civil conversation with him yet. Give him a chance…for your mom." She watched as he mumbled something through gritted teeth as she kissed his jaw before tugging him towards the stage, "Come on, it's almost time."

With a few speeches from the mayor of the city, city council, some neighboring businesses, past and current employees and his wife, it was now time for Sam and Mercedes to give their testimonial speeches as the couple made their way up the steps to the stage, holding hands before letting go when they made it to the podium.

"This gym was my saving grace. If it wasn't for Mr. Atkins, Henry and everyone there, I know I would've been down a path of self destruction. Coming back was a no brainer for me. I started at this gym and this is where I'm going to end." Sam started as he looked out in the crowd, "Tonight we celebrate not only the anniversary, but all the accomplishments that has taken place there in history, and with Henry Jones in the forefront."

Mercedes clapped along with everyone after Sam spoke, watching as he moved to the side for her to step in front of the mic. She cleared her throat before speaking, "Watching my dad work himself tirelessly over the years was amazing and inspiring. I don't think I would be the woman I am today if it wasn't for him, personally and career wise. Like Sam, this gym was and still is my safe haven and forever hold a special place in my heart. I have so much more to say, so many stories to share, but we'll be here all night if I do. I'm honored to introduced the one and only, Henry Jones."

Henry gave both Sam and his daughter a hug before they left the stage, stepping to the mic and waiting until the applauses died down before he begun, "This gym was passed down to me from my father, so it's been here for sixty years. I wanted to keep it the same way it was given to me. Of course, over the years, I had to get hipped with the times and renovate a little but that familiarity of my father stayed. That's why I'm at peace to say this." Henry said with a smile, his gentle eyes looking over at everyone, "I'm stepping down completely at the end of this year, free of all duties and responsibilities."

Mercedes stared at her father in shock, hearing the gasp run out throughout the crowd.

"With feeling that it is the right time and knowing that I'm leaving it in the right hands helped me ease any hesitation about retiring." Henry smiled as he cleared his throat, not letting his emotions take completely over, "I have signed all ownership over to my daughter and Gill, whom will be co-owner and Sam will step into the manager role with a shared percentage of co-ownership as well."

Gill choked on his drink, while Mercedes and Sam's mouths were still opened at his first announcement, all letting a quiet what escaped pass their lips.

"My trust in these three to continue the legacy is enough for me to be sure of my decision." Henry stared as he felt himself lose control of getting emotional, in a very good way, "I have done what I needed to do and it's time for me to stop and enjoy the fruits of my labor, and let this new generation paved their way."

Rose wiped the tears from her eyes as she stared at him in nothing but adoration. She was so proud of him. He has been thinking about this for months, and for him to come to peace with his decision, she was so happy. She stood along with everyone else, clapping and honoring the man who has done so much for this gym and his community. She was honored and grateful to call him her husband.

Henry stepped down off the stage and was immediately met with the confused and shocked faces of the new owners, his daughter being the first one to speak.

"Why mess up a good thing? This was a good thing, Dad. You running the gym and being in charge, that's A GREAT thing."

Henry watched as she paced back and forward, still talking and not letting him get a word in, thanking the server as he came by with a tray of drinks, grabbing himself two because he knew he was going to need it when encountering this wrath.

"I can't run a gym. I'm the last person who should be given this responsibility."

"I second that for myself as well."

"Me three."

Henry stared at the three of them in complete disbelief as he took a sip from one of the glasses before speaking, "All of you are being way over dramatic."

"No we're not." Mercedes countered as she stopped and stared at him, "Dad…"

"If you all don't want the jobs, that's fine. I should've talked to you about it first but I thought you three would've loved this opportunity…I guess I was wrong." Henry sighed as he looked at them and shook his head, "We'll talk more about this tomorrow. I'm going to enjoy the rest of this night. Excuse me."

The trio watched as the man gave them a smile before walking away, going straight to his wife to hug and kiss her.

"I need some air."

"And I'm going to get another drink."

Mercedes and Gill dispersed while Sam was still halted in shock. It quickly faded when he saw Quinn come in front of him. He had spotted her earlier in the evening and had all intentions on ignoring her. He truly didn't like the blonde woman and hoped like hell that she wouldn't interact with him at all but looks like he wasn't going to get his way tonight.

"I see you've found a way to snake yourself back into Mercedes' life."

"What are you even doing here?"

"I was invited, of course." She ran her hands through her straighten hair, looking at the man in front of her, "How did you do it?"

"How did I do what?"

"Again, snake your way back? After everything that you've done, how?"

"I don't see how it's any of your business." He stated as he tried to walk away but she only blocked his way, and not wanting to cause a scene, he stepped back and glared at her, "Move."

"Hear me out." She said in an eerie calm tone, "Mercedes is emotionally incapable of making the best decisions for herself, you know that as well as I do. So, I really believe that you took advantage of that. I'm just a concern friend looking out for her best interest."

"And you looking out for her best interest by talking about her like that? Some friend you are."

"All I'm saying is that she deserves better than you." Quinn crossed her arms, shrugging, "You're a cop out for her."

Sam let out a humorless laugh, pinching the bridge of his nose, a tactic that he has found useful in calming himself down, "Wow. For someone who has a girlfriend, you're sure obsessed with another woman."

"We were friends before anything, don't get it twisted."

"Don't you get it twisted. Mercedes isn't your concern nor will she ever be." Sam glared at her, "Stay away from my girlfriend, Quinn. I'm not playing with you."

"I'm not the problem. You'll mess this relationship up all on your own." She smirked and shook her head, "This is a train wreck and I can't wait to see the crash."

Sam didn't waste another word on her as he watched her walk away, but he didn't realized that the grip he had on the glass was hard until it broke in his hand, the glass shattering everywhere and the blood immediately flowing from the affected areas, "Shit."

Rose had just finish hugging one of her old friends when she glanced around, seeing Quinn leaving from the corner, eyes going wide as she excused herself and went over to Sam when she saw his circumstances, "Oh God, are you okay?"

"I'm fine." He reassured the woman as he winced through the sharp pieces in his hands.

"Good thing we're here right? Easy access to needed medical supplies in the back." She smiled trying to lighten the mood, causing the man to chuckle, "Come on, let's go get this clean up and you tell me why Quinn has you breaking glasses."

"Nothing worth talking about, I promise you that." He followed the woman until they made it to the back, sitting in the chairs. He watched as she got the items from the bin, making her way back to him. She pulled the stool and sat down, grabbing his hand gently. It was silent for awhile before she eventually spoke.

"You know Mercedes loves you to pieces." Rose commented as she carefully took the pieces of glass out of his hand with the tweezers, "So whatever she said, don't believe it."

"You know about her true intentions?"

"Believe it or not, I knew something was up before Mercedes told me about your feelings towards her and things that she had been doing." Once she was sure she got all the glass out, she took some alcohol on the towel and rubbed his hand. When she got it clean, she placed some cream on there then wrapped his hand in a bandage.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome." She stood up straight, sending him a warm smile, "Go find Mercedes and let's salvage the rest of this evening. Me and your mom still haven't had a chance to embarrass you two on the dance floor."

Sam let out a snort as she left out, prompting him to get up and go search for his girlfriend. He wasn't going to let this ruin this night but boy, he has no idea what lied ahead of him.

Mercedes had to step outside and take a minute to get a breather because she was really overwhelmed. She couldn't believe that her dad was retiring and he chose this monumental anniversary to announce it. Don't get her wrong, she was happy for him and he deserved this but she just didn't like being caught off guard. Taking a deep breath, she was about to head back inside until she heard a faint cry that caused her to stop in her tracks. Her eyes went wide when she caught glance of something as she stepped down the steps quickly as her heels allowed her, spotting the source of the crying in the corner by the dumpster. Laying there in a car seat was a baby wrapped in a blanket. She bent down and picked the crying baby up, once in her arms, his cries automatically stopped. She looked down and found those hazel green eyes staring back at her, failing to hear the door to the building opening. All too familiar.

"Mercedes."

Mercedes turned around when she heard Sam's voice, watching as he came down the steps and approached her, starting to talk but stopped when his eyes went down to her arms.

Sam had came out with all intentions to check on Mercedes and get a breather himself. Between Quinn and these announcements, he was in a tailspin but he had no idea it was about to continue to get worse. As he came up on her, he stared in confusion when she saw her holding….a baby, "Who's kid?"

She stared at him for a moment, watching as his eyes then went to the car seat, where a piece of paper was. He grabbed it and before he could open up the note that was left in the seat, she spoke, "It's your brother."

"What?" Sam stared at her in shock before he looked at the baby, who had calmed down due to Mercedes rocking him. He slowly looked at the handwriting, familiarity as his chest tighten with anger as he read.

I thought this was what I wanted but I don't. I only got pregnant to get back at you. Your dad doesn't want him either but I'm not leaving him with strangers, I do have a heart. I know you will do right by him. He is still your blood after all. You don't go against blood, no matter what the circumstances are. I've left the required documentation in the gym's mailbox.

Due to unexpected circumstances, the anniversary gala was cut short for some people. A trip to the store was highly needed before making their way back to Henry and Rose's home. Mercedes sat down in the chair as she held the baby in her arms, looking down, he was now sleeping peacefully after a warm bath, a clean pamper and onesie, and bottle.

"This night couldn't get any more dramatic." Santana mumbled as she sat next to Mercedes, looking at the baby occupying her arms, leaning over and running her finger along his cheek, "That girl is the epitome of trifling. Who leaves a three month old baby outside where anything could've happened?"

"She needs to be charged for child neglect and endangerment." Rose chipped as she shook her head, looking over at Mercedes, who was taking extra care of the infant. For a girl who thought she had no motherly instincts, she was proving herself wrong.

"The legal documents are legit as they can get." Henry spoke as he removed him glasses and sat the papers on the coffee table, "Both parents signed over all rights."

"How can they do something so evil?" Rose spoke as she took her eyes of the baby and looked at them, "The mistreatment that they both did to Sam and now this little guy who didn't ask to be here. This is honestly so sad and pitiful."

"My biological father's kid that he had with my ex-girlfriend is now in the arms of my girlfriend." Sam spoke up from the corner, slowly coming to realization at the situation that they were now in and how they got here from the beginning.

Emily was standing next to Rose as she looked at her son, taking in his somber expression, "I know this is a loaded question right now but what are you going to do?"

"I don't know…how…how did this even become my responsibility in knowing what to do with this baby?"

"Until you figure what you're going to do, Henry and I will keep him." Rose announced, prompting her husband to look at her with a raised brow, "We're not putting Sam through more trauma, because this is exactly what this is, and make him keep a baby out of obligation. We can deal with this."

"I couldn't ask you to do that."

"You didn't, I told you." Rose responded as she gave the young man a look before her eyes danced over to Emily, "I'm sure you're…"

"Trust me, I'm not affected at all. This baby didn't deserve the poor excuses of parents he got. I'd never hold that against him." Emily stated honestly, "I'm suppose to leave in the morning but I can stay longer if I need to."

"No, you have to get back to Sabrina."

"She's fine. You know how she is when she gets with your Aunt." She responded as she walked over to him and rubbed his shoulder, "Besides, I believe you need me more right now."

"Yeah." He said distractedly before excusing himself to walk out the room and the house, going to sit on the porch.

Mercedes handed the baby to Rose before she stood and followed him. Closing the door behind her, she walked to other side to where he was sitting, watching his solemn face closely before speaking, "Hear me out before you interrupt."

"We're not keeping him." Sam already knew where this was going. Mercedes had a heart of gold and that was something he loved about her. Tonight, something changed within her. Deep down, he knew exactly what it was and it was only confirmed when she was holding the baby, "We can find him a good home, I'll definitely make sure of that."

"Sam."

"Mercedes, no." He said, his voice a little more on the edge as he glanced at her, "I know this is harsh but I can bear to have part in taking care of a revenge baby."

"He didn't ask to be here, Sam." Mercedes softy as she looked at him, crossing her arms over her chest, "Just because he's a 'revenge baby', you think we should give up on him easily?"

"He's not our responsibility…he's not mine." Sam stressed as he looked at his girlfriend, "We're just now getting our shit together and something always find a way to ruin it."

"It's not ruining anything, what are you talking about?"

"You…you wouldn't understand."

"Not if you don't explain it to me."

Sam shook his head, getting up from the couch, "I need some air. I'll be back."

Mercedes watched as he left, watching him leave the driveway and walked down the street, confused but deciding to respect his wishes as she plopped down in his abandoned seat and ran her hands over her face. Hopefully this was the end of the surprises for the night.

A/N. Whew….what do you think is going to happen??
