INT. YOUR BEDROOM - DAWN
You hear a knock on the door. You roll over in your bed and groan, but you open your eyes.
YOU
Yes?
The head maid yells at you from behind the door.
HEAD MAID
It's dawn, Aaryanna. Get ready and head up to help the princes.
YOU
Yes, ma'am.
You quickly get out of bed and get ready. It's your first day assisting the princes.
INT. HALLWAY - MOMENTS LATER
You stand in front of Thor's door and knock. After a few moments of silence you knock again.
You cock your head to side and turn the doorknob slowly.
You peek inside. It appears to be empty.
You enter and check the connecting bathroom. It's empty, too.
You shrug your shoulders and get started by making the bed. You think 'maybe I'll get to meet him tomorrow'.
You pick up all the things scattered along Thor's floor. You think 'he's messier then I expected'.
After that, you dust and finish making the room look presentable.
On your way out, you see paper and a pen on his desk. "Should I leave him a note saying I'm his new maid? I would like to meet him at some point, if he's always out this early." But something in the back of your mind says it can wait, so you leave without making a note.
You walk down the hall to Loki's room. You knock on the door.
After a moment, a quiet "yes?" is heard.
YOU
I'm the new maid.
LOKI
Ah yes, come in.
You open the door and your eyes widen. The first thing you notice is how clean the room already is. Then you lay your eyes on Loki, and you freeze at the door. He sits at the edge of his bed with a thick book in his lap. Your thoughts race. 'Wow. Prince Loki is gorgeous. His big blue-green eyes with his cute eyebrows, and jet black hair.' You accidentally sigh out loud.
Loki's face is completely neutral, though he blinks right after he hears you sigh.
LOKI
I said you can come in.
You hastily take a step forward.
YOU
I'm sorry!
Loki laughs to himself.
LOKI
Don't be.
(beat)
You must be the new maid.
Loki quickly glances up and down at you, his expression soft.
YOU
Yes, Prince Loki. Can I clean while you're in here, or would you rather I come back later?
LOKI
You can clean now. And please, just call me Loki.
You nod and start by dusting, since there's nothing to put away and, from what you can tell, Loki already made his bed.
Loki leans back against his pillows and puts his knees up near his face, his book in front of him.
After a few minutes of silence, Loki speaks up.
LOKI
Have you always been a maid?
You stop dusting and turn around to face Loki.
YOU
I've been working in the palace ever since I was eight. I used to clean in the kitchens.
Loki sits up and closes his book. He leans towards you even though you're all the way across the room.
LOKI
Since you were eight? Why would a lovely girl like you have to work in a palace?
You blush and turn around to continue dusting.
YOU
I don't have any family. I honestly don't remember much about my childhood. The head maid always tells me I should be grateful I work in the palace, of all places.
Loki raises his eyebrows and gives you empathetic look.
LOKI
I'm so sorry.
YOU
It's okay. The head maid is right, though. I am lucky to work here.
When Loki doesn't say anything more, you continue cleaning. You still have your back to him and assume he's reading again.
Loki doesn't say anything more to you, and when you're done cleaning you open the door that leads to the hallway.
YOU
I will be back tomorrow, Prince Loki. If you need me any more today, just let me know.
LOKI
It's just Loki. And thank you... I never got your name.
YOU
Oh, it's Aaryanna.
Loki smiles.
LOKI
Thank you, Aaryanna.
You leave Loki's room with a wide smile, excited for work tomorrow.
INT. YOUR BEDROOM - EVENING
You run into your bedroom and change into non-maid clothes. You grab a small notebook and a pencil and rush out the door.
EXT. GARDENS - MOMENTS LATER
You find a quiet bench to sit on and stare at the beautiful flowers around you. You always come here when you can to contemplate things.
You open you notebook and look over what you've already written. You see a list of all the things you can remember from your childhood. It's a short list. Mostly places you remember going with your parents. But from what you can remember, the places you remember look nothing like Asgard. You lean back against the bench and close your eyes, trying to picture the memories from your childhood. The memories bring you an overwhelming sense of peace. Soon, you drift off to sleep.
A few hours later, you wake up. It's dark, and your notebook and pencil are still in your lap. You gather your things and head inside the palace.
INT. HALLWAY - NEXT DAY
The next day, you decide to knock on Loki's door first. He was good company yesterday, and his room was easier to clean.
You knock.
LOKI
Come in.
You open the door. Loki sits on his clean bed reading, once again.
You start cleaning, not speaking so that you don't distract him.
You accidentally tip over a small trophy that says 'Best Magician.' It makes a loud thud.
Loki peaks a glance from behind his book, trying to hide his amused smile.
You gasp and set the trophy back, quickly continuing your cleaning.
After cleaning for only a few minutes, you look around. There's nothing left to clean. At least Loki's clean room makes up for Thor's messy disaster.
You turn to leave.
LOKI
You're done so soon?
YOU
There's nothing else to clean. You're so tidy.
Loki smiles.
LOKI
I can be messier if you'd like.
YOU
You can do what you want, Prince Loki. Thor's room is a project enough to clean.
Loki chuckles to himself.
YOU
I'll see you tomorrow.
You leave and close the door.
INT. THOR'S ROOM - CONTINUOUS
You make your way to Thor's room and knock on the door.
Thor opens the door. He's all sweaty, wearing barely anything, and his room is a disaster.
THOR
Who are you?
YOU
I'm the new maid.
Thor smiles, staring.
After an awkward silence, you speak up.
YOU
I was here yesterday, but you weren't here.
THOR
Oh. Well, come in, I guess.
You walk in. A waft of stench hits your nose. You're surprised you couldn't smell it from the door.
Thor walks into his bathroom to put some more clothes on.
You start cleaning by picking up all the trash and food on the floor.
Thor walks out of the bathroom.
THOR
I will just head out. Thank you.
YOU
See you later.
Thor closes the door on his way out.
You clean up his dirty clothes, make his bed, dust his room, and sweep the floors. It takes hours.
The last thing you do is head to the window to get some fresh air in the room. You hope it will help air out the stench.
As you open the window, you see Thor outside with his friends. He's fighting a young lady with a sword. She has jet black hair and is very pretty.
You watch for a minute to see who wins. The girl wins. 'She's pretty good,' you think to yourself.
You scan your eyes to see who else is outside. In a corner, you see Loki sitting down in the grass. All of a sudden there's two of him, but the second one has the build of Thor. You didn't think Loki had that much muscle so you assume the one sitting down is the real Loki. How did he do that?
You turn to leave, but out of the corner of your eye, Loki looks up at you, part of the metal on his outfit reflecting in the sun.
You hold your breath and step away from the window, hoping your mind was just playing tricks on you. He didn't actually see you, right?
You take a deep breath as you survey the clean room. It's finished.
You take your cleaning supplies and leave.
