Sup guys? Time for another story. This one about RWBY. Enjoy the 800-word chapter. I don't own RWBY. Monty Oum and Rooster Teeth do.
It was not hard to find a thief in Mistral. They made up dozens of the populace. Every single being in Mistral almost always looked out for each other.
One of these thieves looked upon another, a simple semblance. It didn't take much for him to understand it… And he had better hearing then sight.
The bat Faunus turned; his delicate eyes obscured by the simple cloth he wrapped around it. His rust-colored hair hid nothing of his Faunus traits that most would look down upon.
Then again? EVERYONE in Mistral was looked upon. The kingdom was nothing more then piecemeal villages that showed little and betrayed nothing at the moment.
'Rusty' Russet Adargo slowly listened to what was around him. He knew for a fact that there were deals going on around the kingdom.
However? Russet didn't enjoy it being here. He was a thief, yes… But he was a thief with a code, something that most of the people here lacked when it came down to it.
"Every single person here has a deal with criminals and pirates." Russet stated to himself and shook his head. "So many semblances to make shadowy negotiations." Russet stated and hummed to himself.
Russet sighed while he flexed his underdeveloped wings. He heard something and quickly turned to look over his shoulder. Russet heard a cane which slowly cracked against the ground. The man could easily walk, he heard no signs of a leg injury that would signal he couldn't.
"You certainly have an ear for detail." Russet heard which caused him to shrug. "And from what I've heard? You're a teenager with some connections." Russet heard and ran the accent through his brain.
Vale, what was someone from Vale doing here? He knew for a fact that people from Vale often came to trade goods. But they wouldn't do it around the shadowy parts of the kingdom. That was how you got a dagger in your back and your goods stolen.
"Legends often say a lot of things." Russet said while he sighed and put his head in his hands. "Who's asking?" Russet questioned as he blinked and raised an eyebrow.
Russet heard the man set down next to him. His ears twitched in surprise while he heard the man clear his throat.
"Someone who knows you want to put your talents to good use." Russet heard and nodded. "Someone who doesn't want to be a thief just for surviving, living off criminals who feed on the weak." Russet also heard and hummed with amusement.
Russet shrugged before he looked at the man. His Faunus ears wiggled and curled in, interested in what the man was going to say next.
"And how do you know this?" Russet asked with a raised eyebrow. "Most people here sprinkled honied words in. Do you really think that?" Russet questioned before humming with curiosity.
The man tapped his cane on the ground, the sound echoed through his ears. Ripples that he could easily identify the exact location of.
"I spoke to a girl who claimed to know you…" Russet heard as he raised another eyebrow. "Someone who's found employment with a rival company with me. I'd like to offer you a deal." Russet heard and blinked.
"I'll listen… But this isn't the place to speak of such matters." Russet said while humming and sitting up.
"Come with me then, Russet… Let us speak about this further." Russet heard and hummed.
(Several years later)
Russet flapped his wings and landed on a Vale ship. He brushed off his rust-colored coat as he hummed.
"Vale is different than how I remember." Russet said before blinking from behind his mask.
His master called to him and he responded to it. Their circle was small, but their power was vast and held much sway over the rest of the kingdom. Their war was fought in the dark, hidden from others.
Russet hummed before spreading his leathery wings. One thing that helped with his hunt? Being able to fly, it gave him much more mobility and freedom.
Russet checked the message on his scroll once more. Most people thought he was blind, helpless. Russet knew for a fact that he could… But he didn't put all his stock in simply his eyes.
Author Notes
Phew. First chapter done! I want to point out that next chapter will be longer. I also want to point out I'm not going to make Russet some super Gary sue god character. He's just a Faunus with good skills and such. Next chapter will be in a week or so and will show Russet making his report to Ozpin… Along with kicking off the plot. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
P.S: Emerald is 1200 words Friday. Cinder 2000 Friday. Raven 1200 Sunday. Penny 900-1200 Tuesday. Yang 1500 Saturday. Ruby 1200 Monday… And maybe a Weiss story and such.
