Chapter 73: The Killer Fist of Talos, Part One
Time passes...
"This is it." Professor Agasa led the Detective Boys and ran in front of the Kagami Studios building. "Shall we go?" he led the youngsters in.
"I've been waiting for you." Kagami Shinobu greeted.
"Sorry to trouble you, Shinobu-san." Professor Agasa apologized.
"The president said he wanted to speak with you." Shinobu informed.
"It must be about that plan we discussed the other day." Professor Agasa noted. "What did that... what did your father say?"
"I'm sorry, but you'll have to ask him yourself." Shinobu insisted. "He's in his office. I'll show the rest of you around."
"Thank you, please do." Professor Agasa made himself scarce.
"That dome over there is for tours." Shinobu explained, leading the others off.
"The children must love it." Ran remarked, seeing the fantasy-like props that littered the entrance.
"Unfortunately, it's designed by professionals." Shinobu stated. "It's for requests for event characters and modeling. You can take all the pictures you want." she told Ayumi.
"But what if another company copies your figures?" Conan taught to ask.
"You should watch out for corporate spies." Mitsuhiko agreed.
"Don't worry, we check everyone's identity and possessions before taking them on tours." Shinobu assured. "Besides, it's not that easy to get inside the studio. Come in." she opened the studio doors.
"Is that..." Fumio peered at the dangling goblin hanging upside down from the ceiling. "A goblin that appears in Western fairy tales? They are rather mischievous little imps."
"This is the Greek mythological ship, Argo." Conan turned to the ship replica.
"Heroes like Perseus and Orpheus who became constellations rode on this ship." Haibara added.
"It's like a dream." Ran gawked, the group having arrived at the studio's main attraction.
"That castle look rather familiar..." Fumio's attention was centered on the white castle that oversaw the cliff. "Is that the castle from Cinderella?"
"Good eye." Shinobu praised.
"It's Sun Wukong." Mitsuhiko spotted the humanoid monkey cruising across the sky.
"That's right." Shinobu nodded "He's riding the Jidou cloud. He appears in China's 'Journey to the West'. That's the flying boat in the sky." she added, using the remote control in her hand to activate a large crescent-shaped ship. "It's a legendary ship that appears in Japanese mythology." another pressed of the remote control activated the plants on the ground.
"It's a mandragora!" Genta exclaimed, seeing the root creature come to life.
"Isn't that the roc?" Haibara wondered as a giant bird flew across the sky.
"Yeah, from the Adventures of Sinbad." Conan confirmed. "The Garuda?" he gaped as another giant bird, this time in red flew past. "They've even got Indian mythological creatures."
Shinobu just smiled and activated the studio's main attraction; the over-sized Talos.
"Make Talos stand up." Ayumi requested.
"I'm sorry." Shinobu sighed. "He's not finished from the legs down."
"When is he going to be finished?" Mitsuhiko inquired.
"Unfortunately, he'll never be finished." Hanyu Tadashi stepped onto the observation platform. We wouldn't want to get people's hopes up. Honestly, it's quite difficult to build the entire body of something that large."
"Because it's too expensive?" Haibara guessed.
"I'm really sorry about today." Shinobu apologized as she walked the group out of the studio later that night.
"It's fine." Professor Agasa assured. "Give my best to you father."
"What was that?" Conan gasped, the group having seen the lights on the studio's main dome flick out for a moment before a pained scream was heard. A second later, the lights came back on.
"Tadashi-san?" Shinobu recognized the voice.
"Where are you?" Ayumi shouted, the group hurried back into the dome.
"There!" Fumio pointed to the observation deck. "Isn't that Hanyu-san?"
