Hello everyone!
I hope you are all doing well and that you are all looking forward to summer, which is almost upon us.
I am so sorry for the wait, it's been a crazy busy time for me lately, so I have not had the time to sit down and write. But, as you can see, I am finally done with the second chapter of Wolf.
So, here we go. Enjoy Wolf, chapter 2.
Chapter 2.
Elsa's eyes were still shut close as she was prepared for the worst. But nothing happened. Instead, she heard a soft, gentle growl and after a few seconds, she dared to open her eyes. As she did, her eyes met the beast's yellow ones. It was looking at her, its eyes a lot more softer looking than they were when it was fighting the other beast. Relaxing a bit, Elsa smiled.
"You were... protecting me." She whispered.
The beast growled softly again, confirming what she just said.
Elsa slowly reached out a hand to touch its face, but it took a step back and looked at her with uncertainty.
"Don't worry, it's ok…." Elsa almost whispered calmly.
She proceeded to gently touch the beast's face and soon it seemed to relax into her touch.
Suddenly the moment was interrupted as the beast heard something behind Elsa. Startled Elsa jumped behind her newfound protector, but the beast remained calmed.
Then, out of the shadows stepped someone wearing a hooded cloak. Elsa could also see that they were holding a crossbow. The person looked at Elsa, then at the beast before sighing.
"So this is why you ran ahead."
Elsa's eyes widened as the voice was female.
"Wh….Who are you?" She managed to ask.
The woman pulled her hood off and looked at Elsa.
She was slightly older than Elsa, she could only guess around 16 years old, had shoulder length red hair and olive green eyes. She gave Elsa a small smile.
"My name is Elizabeth, but please, you can call me Liz." She said before her expression turned more serious.
"Are you hurt? Or more specifically… Did you get bitten?" She asked.
Elsa found it a bit weird that Liz asked her specifically if she had been bitten, but shook her head.
"No, I'm not hurt." She reassured Liz.
Liz sighed in relief.
"Good. I'm glad my friend got here in time."
Elsa looked at the beast, then at Liz and she was even more confused now.
"What was that other beast? And…what is your friend?" She asked.
"They are creatures of the same species." Liz said.
"The beast that attacked you, and my friend here…." She took a deep breath.
"Are werewolves."
Elsa stared at her in complete shock.
"Werewolves? You mean….?"
Liz nodded.
"Yes, actual werewolves."
Elsa's eyes blinked in confusion.
"I…I read a book about werewolves once…But that was a book about mythological creatures. I though werewolves were just a myth and not real.
Liz sighed,
"I wish they weren't real…But they are. And they are dangerous."
Elsa looked at the werewolf next to her.
"I also read that werewolves are violent and will attack anything…and anyone. But this one…." She slowly reached out a hand and touched its fur.
"This one protected me. How is that even possible?" She asked as she looked back at Liz.
"Truthfully, I don't know. My friend here, he is… different from the others. Though his body transforms, his mind remains the same. As that of a human. He remains in control."
Elsa looked at the werewolf again who nodded to what Liz had just said.
"What's his name?" Elsa asked.
Liz opened her mouth, about to answer, but to the surprise of both of them, the werewolf softly growled and Elsa could swear she even saw him shake his head.
"...it's not my place to say, then." Liz said before she turned to Elsa.
"You should go back home." She said.
Elsa began to protest but Liz stopped her before she could.
"Look, I won't ask why you're out here, but it's not safe. You need to get back home."
Elsa thought for a few seconds before she sighed, realizing that Liz was right. It was in the middle of the night and no one knew where she was. On top of that, she had run into a werewolf that had attacked her. If she had died, no one would know what happened to her. And though Elsa did not look forward to go back home, she nodded in agreement.
Liz looked at her werewolf friend.
"My friend here will take you home. Meanwhile, I'll track down that other werewolf."
The werewolf laid down next to Elsa.
She looked at Liz a bit confused.
"Trust me, it'll be faster this way." Liz said with a small smile."
Elsa walked up to the werewolf and carefully stroked her small fingers through his black and bristled fur.
He let out a small growl of contentment and Elsa smiled a bit.
She climbed onto his back and he got up. She looked at Liz.
"Liz, will you be okay?" Elsa asked a bit concerned.
"Don't worry about me. I'll be just fine. I promise you." Liz said with a small smile.
"Now, where exactly do you live?" She asked as Elsa had not mentioned where she was from, yet.
"I am from Arendelle."
"That's not very far from here." Liz said to Elsa's relief.
Liz then turned to leave, but stopped in her tracks.
"I realized something. You never told me your name."
Elsa smiled.
"My name is Elsa."
Liz gave her a slight smirk.
"Well then, Elsa. Word of advice. Hold on tight."
Elsa looked at her confused, but before she could ask what Liz meant, the werewolf suddenly took off at a very high speed through the forest.
"Wow….you are very fast." Elsa said to herself as she held on for dear life, trying not to hit her head on the tree branches or getting twigs in her face.
The ground underneath them shook as his steps hit the ground, whirling up soil and dirt.
Soon, after a little while, they reached the edge of the forest that led to the kingdom, and Elsa could see a familiar looking castle not too far away.
As they looked through the trees they could see that the castle was in uproar and the castle guards running around.
"There are probably more guards on the lookout throughout the entire kingdom…." Elsa mumbled to herself.
In her head she tried to figure out what to do. She didn't want them to find her, so she tried to figure out a way to get to her bedroom undetected.
She looked at her newfound werewolf friend.
"Hey…Can you take me to the Castle?" She asked in a very low voice.
The werewolf tensed up and hesitated at that. One thing was to bring her to the edge of the kingdom, but to take her all the way up to the castle wall was something else entirely.
Elsa looked at him with pleading eyes.
"Please…?"
The werewolf looked at her before he actually sighed, and nodded.
Elsa got on his back again and the werewolf quietly snuck over to the nearest building and quickly climbed onto the roof.
From there he used the rooftops of the buildings to move towards the castle without being spotted by the guards who were out looking for the young princess.
After a while and after a few detours he managed to get to the castle wall and scale it.
"There, that's my bedroom." Elsa said as she pointed to a window and as they looked up they could see lights coming from it.
The werewolf nodded and started to climb the castle wall, Elsa still clinging to him tightly.
As they reached the window, he managed to push it open and Elsa silently climbed through the window and into her bedroom.
To her surprise she found two people sleeping in her bed. King Agnarr and Queen Iduna. Her parents.
"They must be sleeping in here waiting for news about where I am…" She mumbled to herself.
She turned around to look at her saviour one more time.
"Thank you…." She whispered softly.
The werewolf nodded, made a soft growling sound and prepared to leave, but Elsa ran over to the window.
"Will I ever see you again?" She asked.
He stopped at that and looked at her, and for a moment, their eyes met.
Before long he started to descend the castle wall. About halfway down he leapt from the wall, hit the ground and ran towards the forest, from which they came. Elsa remained standing in the window watching him leave and as soon as he was out of sight she went over to her bed, to wake up and reunite with her parents.
Werewolves. Cursed humans who, on nights of the full moon, are forced to turn into giant wolf like monsters. The legends say that when they transform, their minds go into a feral state and lose all sense of who they once were. They'll attack anyone who gets in their way, even those closest to them. When I was thirteen though, my life was saved by one. Though his body had changed, his mind was his own, and he protected me. I owe that werewolf my life. For some reason, I held onto the hope that, somehow, I would see that werewolf again...that was many years ago
And that's chapter two.
Again, I am so sorry for the wait, but I hope it was worth it.
Now, take care and I'll see you all again next chapter!
