Hello my friends! I have returned! So if you guys are wondering why i've been absent for awhile, it's because i'm graduating next week and i've been busy getting all my work done. So, yeah, i've been really busy for a few weeks now, but i still managed to finish the first chapter of my sequel to my other X-men: Evolution fanfic, "The Wolverine Who Became a Father", and managed to fix myself a profile picture (let me know what you guys think of it in the review section). Anyway, this story is based on "Wanda's Life" by Agent-G, another story i greatly enjoyed.

I tried not to copy too much of that story, but you might notice some similar dialogue so if Agent-G is reading this, your story inspired me and i hope you will find my story good enough.

So, without further ado, let's begin.

Chapter 1: In the Dark of the Night

Her name is Wanda Maximoff, she is only twelve years old. Currently she was huddled up in the corner of a cold dark room. The only source of light was the moon shining in from outside. She had only been here for a month, and she was still frightened and confused. As the night cast its darkness on the world, Wanda wondered why she had been left in this place.

"Why did he leave me?" She thought to herself, "Was I bad? It's not my fault I can't control it. So why did he leave me here?"

She was still in the clothes she wore when she first got here, only they were ragged and smelly from being worn so long.

"Why am I here? Why couldn't daddy help me?"

The doctors here kept trying to do something to her. They said it was medicine, but she didn't believe them. The last time they tried her powers broke the window, so she had to be moved to a different room.

"Why can't I go home? Why can't I be with my brother? Why did daddy just stand there and let them take me? Why didn't he say anything? And why didn't my brother try to help me?"

She used the sleeve of her shirt to wipe away the tears before curling back up in the corner. She really wanted a bed to lie on, but her powers broke it, now all she had was a mattress to sleep on.

She hated it here. She just wanted to go back home, but they wouldn't let her.

"Was daddy mad at me? Is that why he left me? I didn't mean to be bad; I just can't control it. It's not my fault I wrecked all his stuff, I said I was sorry. So why did he leave me? Does he hate me?"

She was so alone, all she wanted was to be in her daddy's arms, she just wanted this to be a bad dream, but as the wind kept blowing outside, she knew that this was all real.

Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters

It's been one year since Logan and Laura moved into the mansion and things have been going well for the two. Laura got along well with the other two children in the mansion, fourteen-year-old Scott Summers and Jean Grey. The three of them had become a tight nit group and spent most of their time together.

Logan had also gotten very close to Ororo. After the talk they had the day, they moved in, Logan had found himself getting surprisingly close to her. Ororo would help him watch the kids from time too time and was especially close to Laura. Logan could honestly say he respected Ororo a great deal after all she's done for him and Laura. And Laura herself looked up to Ororo almost as much as her dad.

Logan also had developed a deep respect for Charles Xavier. His natural calm demeanor is great when dealing with the kids and they in turn looked up to him a great deal.

Right now, Xavier was in his office going over some records when there was a knock on his door. Ever since he and Erik had split up due to their different opinions on mutants, he had been trying to find something, anything about his old friend.

He was also wondering about the improved designs for Cerebro. He had completed the first prototype a few years ago and had used it to find Ororo in Africa. While he was out and about in Cairo, a woman had run into him by accident. While he wouldn't normally read someone's mind without permission, he happened to read her mind enough to discover the name of her long-lost sister, Ororo Munroe, as well as the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

After that he had traveled into the desert and found Ororo and told her why I had come, as well as about her sister. After he had helped reunite the two sisters, he had helped them into America. Not long after that he had located Jean and Scott. They were two of what he hoped to be the next generation of mutants.

It was also because of Cerebro that he was able to track Sabretooth to Canada, and subsequently to Logan and Laura.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door.

"Speak of the devil." Xavier thought to himself. "Come in Logan."

The door opened and Logan walked in with Ororo right behind him.

"You know I really hate it when you do that." Logan said.

Xavier tried to hide a smile. "Hiding from the kids, are you?" He asked with a hint of humor.

Logan groaned and Ororo giggled.

"And I thought raising Laura was exhausting. Those three are like three little devils. Jean and Scott keep asking me for rides on my bike and Scott even wanted to drive it himself. Laura even asked me yesterday if she could help me with that Danger Room you got me building. Honestly, why do you even need a death trap like that?"

Ororo turned to Logan and said, "Logan, we need somewhere where we can train their powers out of prying eyes." Then she smirked and said, "Of course, you could always help me with my plants if you prefer to do something different."

Logan rolled his eyes and said, "No thanks, I don't really like gardening. I prefer to get my hands dirty in other ways." He turned back to Xavier and smiled, "Besides, a owe a lot to you Chuck, consider this one of the ways I'm repaying you." There was a crash from outside with a 'Scott did it' from Jean and Laura followed by a 'Did not' from outside. "But those three are pushing my limits, I think I need to get paid if they keep going at it."

"Logan, they're children." Xavier said with a smile. "Besides, I'm sure they'll grow out of it." As he was looking through the files, something caught his attention. Xavier studied it and searched for more records.

Logan saw this and wondered what was up. "Got something?"

Xavier didn't answer at first. As he looked at the files his face had a look of distain. "Erik... how could you?" he asked himself in a wisper.

"What?" Ororo asked, seeing Xavier with a look of distain on his face was very rare, so whatever it was that made him look like that had to be serious. "What is it?"

"Not long ago a young girl named Wanda Maximoff was sent to this mental institution by Erik Lensheer. Now before we lost contact with each other, Erik told me about a woman he was seeing whose last name was Maximoff."

Logan and Ororo looked at each other in shock and confusion before Logan asked, "You think there might be a connection between the girl and Magneto?"

"I think... she might be his child." Xavier said gravely. "I'll need to look into this immediately."

A Few Days Later

Xavier and Ororo were outside the asylum "What a horrible place." Ororo said. Seeing all the bars, dark gray paint that was rotting away and the dark gloomy atmosphere made it seem more like an old prison than a place for mental help. Just looking at this place made Ororo's claustrophobia rise up in her.

"Are you sure this is the right place?" Ororo asked to be sure. "I can't believe someone would put a child in this place." she thought to herself

"I checked all of the information Ororo... This is the place." Xavier said gravely before they went into the lobby where the receptionist was looking at some papers. The receptionist was an old man somewhere in his late seventies with gray hair, blue eyes and a pair of glasses. He looked up at the two visitors and smiled.

"Ahh, Mr. Xavier." he said good naturedly as he extended his hand which Xavier gladly took. "I heard you were coming today. Stan Lee at your service."

Xavier smiled at Stan in return and said, "It's Professor Xavier, actually. I came to speak with the administrator."

"Of course, his office is a few hallways down to the left." Stan said as he gave the passes and pointed them in the right direction.

"Thank you." Xavier said politely before he and Ororo went in the direction of the office.

As they were walking towards the administrates office, Xavier and Ororo noticed that the inside was worse than the outside. The halls were dirty and unkempt, there were a few people with medical gowns with glazed expressions and others seemed to be talking with invisible people. Xavier had to shield himself from the weird thoughts of these mentally unstable people. He had never been in a place like this, and it was quite disturbing for him.

When they got to the office, they were shown in. It was a modest office, nothing spectacular about it other than the fact that it was much cleaner and sanitary than the rest of the asylum. The man behind the desk was a middle-aged man with brown hair with streaks of white. He was wearing a doctor's coat and an ID card that read, Chris Claremont.

Upon noticing he had guests he smiled warmly, "Ah, Professor Xavier, it's a pleasure to meet a man of your reputation. What can I help you with?"

"Well, I wanted to talk to you about a patient you received recently, Wanda Maximoff."

He noticed that the Chris lost his smile and could feel that he got scared at the mention of that name.

"Wha... what about her?" He stammered out in fear.

"I was wondering if it was possible for me to take care of her?"

"Oh, I don't think you would want her she's... different from most patients. She's very dangerous. Most of the staff won't even go near her and I don't blame them. She's always scared when someone approaches her and when she's scared her..." He cut himself of abruptly, so as not to reveal anything.

"Her Mutant powers activate." Xavier said bluntly. Chris looked in surprise at that statement, to which Xavier replied, "I know you are aware of our kind Mr. Claremont, and I know you have no hatred for us."

"Us?" He said in confusion before his eyes widened in shock "You mean... you're a..."

"Yes, I'm a mutant." Xavier said to Chris telepathically before speaking to him normally. "I know the circumstances surrounding Wanda and I wish to help her. She needs to learn to control her abilities and she can't do that here. She needs to be shown compassion if she truly wants to control her powers."

Chris thought about what Xavier had said. He had received several complaints from his employees about Wanda and some even threatened to quit. If Xavier could help Wanda, what did he have to lose.

After a minute he said, "I understand what you're saying Xavier and you're free to take care of her. Although, I doubt she would let you get close to her."

As he said this, Ororo smirked and spoke for the first time during the conversation, "Oh, you don't need to worry about Charles, he has a way with kids."

Wanda was on her mattress, wallowing in misery and unanswered questions. She wondered if she would ever get out of this place. She had been here for so long; it was starting to seem like her world.

"Why I am I here?" She thought to herself. "I don't like it here. I want to leave. I don't want to stay here anymore."

"Then don't stay here." A voice said in her head, scaring her as she bolted up from her mattress.

"What!? Who said that!?" She said in alarm.

"Don't be afraid." The voice said.

"Great, I'm starting to hear voices." Wanda said to herself. "I'm going mad."

"No, you aren't. You didn't think you were the only one with abilities in the world, did you?"

"What do you mean?" she asked out loud before muttering, "This is crazy, I'm talking to voices in my head."

"You're not crazy Wanda. I'm a friend of your fathers and I wish to help you."

"You... You know my dad? Prove it!"

"He can control metal."

Wanda was shocked to hear that, no one was supposed to know about her father's powers outside of her and her brother.

"Who are you?" She said out loud. "Why do you want to help me?"

"My name is Charles Xavier. I run a place where there are others like you. They are there to learn to control their gifts, and I can help you control yours, if you let me. I'm right outside the door... please Wanda... let me help you."

Wanda could feel the sincerity in his words, she could tell that he wanted to help her. "Alright."

The door opened and Wanda was blinded by the light. At first, she could only make out a silhouette. Then she saw a bald man in a wheelchair come in. He seemed to have a clam and caring attitude about him. "Nice to meet you, Wanda." he said in the same voice she had heard in her head.

Wanda looked at him with curiosity but also worry. He had said he wanted to help her, but what if he would just abandon her like her father had when her powers went crazy, which she knew they would.

"I would never do that Wanda. I said I wanted to help you and I meant it. I understand that you can't control it... yet... but that's why I want to help you." he said to her.

"But why, why help someone like me?"

"Because no child should have to live like this." he said to her. "I can take you away from here and give you a home that's nice and safe, if you like."

Wanda looked down at the ground. She thought that this was just another dream, and she would wake up in the room again. But she didn't want to wake up, she didn't want this to be just a dream. If he says he could take her away from this horrible place, then she would trust him. Looking up at Xavier she stretched out her hand and said, "Please, take me away from this place."

Xavier smiled warmly before taking her hand. "Of course, Wanda. Let's get you out of here."

They headed for the door and Wanda had to cover her eyes from the intense light due to being in the dark for so long. As her eyes slowly adjusted to the light, she felt that this was really happening, she was finally getting away from this horrible place. As she walked out of the dark room and into the light, Wanda knew that her life was about to change for the better.

And that's a wrap. Like i said, i tried to incorporate some of my own ideas into the story, such as cameos by Chris Claremont and Stan Lee (May he rest in peace). Let me know what you guys thought of it in the review section. I'm not sure when the next chapter will be published, but i will get started on it soon.

Until next time, Excelsior!
