Chapter 3: Secrets
A/N: Disclaimer: I do not own Stargate SG1 or Danny Phantom characters or original storylines, all right go to the original creators of both series (Stargate SG1: Brad Wright & Jonathan Glassner. Danny Phantom: Butch Hartman.). I only own the plot and any characters created for this fanfic.
Also, I write this for fun, so while I'm trying to be faithful to the characters and storylines of the original content, I am not stressing about all the details. I was just thinking about what would happen if Danny joined the SGC when he became an adult and joined the Air Force. I'd be happy for any suggestions on how all the secrets eventually come out if you have any. I'll be trying to post on the weekends, but I work a second job that can sometimes take up what little free time I have.
Colonel O'Neil waited for Teal'C to meet him, reviewing the last sparring session in his mind. He could tell that he hadn't been holding back with the last hit, yet the kid seemed to have avoided it and walked away in one piece. That was a feat hard to accomplish for Jack, even when Teal'C was fully holding back. The kid had taken plenty of hits, but it seemed like he was able to just shake them off.
When Teal'C found him, Jack asked "What happened out there earlier?"
"Airman Fenton had seemed to be holding back when sparring with Captain Carter. He did the same when we sparred. I wanted to see what he was capable of, but did not mean to use so much force on that last strike." Teal'C answered.
" I'm just glad it didn't seem to connect. Even if that kid seems to be tougher than the average human, he'd have been in a world of hurt." Jack played both Carter's and Teal'C fight with Fenton through his head.
"It went through him," Teal'C stated.
"What now?" Jack was confused by Teal'C's response.
"Instead of hitting him, it went through him. My fist and his torso occupied the same space, before he moved away."
"That's not possible! He'd have to be a ghost or something." Jack shook his head in disbelief. "Is there anyway what you saw was a trick of the light or something?" Teal'C looked at Jack with a raised eyebrow. "Of course not, maybe he has some kind of tech his parents developed or something. I think I heard they were crazy inventors and ghost hunters or something."
"Indeed," Teal'C replied. "Colonel O'Neil, what are ghosts?"
"I have some movies to add to your list to watch." Jack answered.
Danny sighed as he put down his bag when he walked in the door of his and Sam's home. He could see a few of the boxes they had brought with them scattered around and their wedding photo already hung up on a nearby wall. In it was him in a tux and Sam in her simple black lace wedding dress surrounded by their families and Tucker. The photo was always one of the first things they put up when they got to a new place.
"Danny! Is that you?" A female voice came from farther in.
"Yeah, Sam!" Danny called back. "They sent me home after introducing me to my temporary team and having me spar with two of the members." He told her as he walked into the kitchen, where he had heard her voice coming from.
"How was it? Are the people on your team competent?" Sam asked while going through some grocery bags on the counter, putting some of the items away.
Danny started helping her as he told her about his day, "I hope so. They put me on the flagship team, probably to make sure I'm competent. Though this is the first time I've been placed with such a high level team before getting a permanent placement."
"How were your sparring sessions? You said you sparred with two different people?" Sam asked as they finished putting away the last of the groceries.
"Yeah, the first was Captain Carter, and she's just as dangerous as you and mom. I'll give you two guesses as to what her first name is."
"I hope it isn't Sam, that might get confusing at any team events spouses can attend."
"Things might, " Danny agreed as way to answer her.
"Great… What happened during your second sparring session?" Sam asked.
"It was against a guy named Teal'C, and he caused me to flinch intangible. I'm not 100% sure he's fully human, but I have no idea what else he could be. I don't think he's a ghost, at least not a full one, because my ghost sense was triggered the whole time." Danny confessed to Sam.
"Danny, that isn't good. Even if this Teal'C guy isn't human, he could still turn you into GIW. Even if he doesn't, him mentioning it to one wrong person could still end up with you being in their sights again. Without Phantom's protection!" Sam ranted at him.
"Sam, I know all this. It's part of the reason I haven't used my powers anymore than is necessary to keep them controlled!" Danny retorted. He couldn't blame Sam's fear around the GIW finding him again. He still had scars from the only time they had been able to capture and hold him for a few hours before his friends had been able to rescue him. "I was surprised I found myself using them this time!"
"I'm sorry Danny, I know you're more careful than that. I'm just worried about what'll happen if they take you again." Danny hugs Sam close.
"I know, the idea scares me too. I'll be careful and go AWOL at the first sign I'm in danger of the GIW taking me again." Danny tries to reassure her.
"Thank you," Sam rested her head against his chest.
Danny's second day with his new unit wasn't as exciting as his first. Colonel O'Neil met him in the parking lot this time, leading him through the maze to some kind of lab filled with ancient artifacts across most of the surfaces. The rest of SG1 was also down there.
"Alright kid, today we are just going to spend some time getting to know you, and you us. The General gave us this week to get an idea of what you're capable of and how you will fit in with the rest of us before we have any planned missions." The Colonel told him.
"First off, here are all of our phone numbers and emails." Captain Carter handed him a piece of paper with all the info printed on it, neatly organized. "You will need to keep your phone on and on you at all times. We can be deployed at any moment, or called in for different kinds of emergencies."
"Understood, Captain." Danny replied before going through the list to add each to the contacts on his phone before texting his name to each member.
"Next, General Hammond got a response back about your security clearance last night, so we'll have our formal briefing this afternoon to get you up to speed on a few things." Colonel O'Neil continued.
"That was fast. It normally takes several weeks, and I needed a lower security clearance than I do here." Danny was surprised. He had thought he would spend a lot longer in limbo before being cleared.
"It has to be. Hammond can't have potential data leaks roaming around the mountain any longer than absolutely necessary." Colonel O'Neil supplied.
"I can understand that," Danny acknowledged. "What are we going to do until then?"
"Why don't you tell us a bit about your wife? I think you mentioned she's named Sam?" Colonel O'Neil asked.
