Annabeth woke up to a noisy alarm; she looked at her phone and saw the time - 8:00 AM. She groaned, half-sitting up and looking around. She didn't want to go in today, but it was necessary. The Review Board was meeting today to discuss Percy's case, and she had to be there.

She got up and went straight to the bathroom, looking at her reflection in the mirror. Damn, she looked good, even though her hair was sticking in multiple directions and she still had makeup on from last night which she was too lazy to take off . She took a deep breath and started, getting fresh and dressed.

Annabeth walked out of her room and down the stairs toward the kitchen; it was a Saturday, technically a holiday, but she had to be there for Percy. It probably wouldn't take much time, hopefully.

As Annabeth started making pancakes and coffee, she couldn't help but wonder about Percy. He had just been rejected in a proposal, while he was struggling with a disease that didn't have a cure yet. She couldn't forget his eyes—those green eyes that were still shining brightly, even after everything they had gone through.

"God! It's a Saturday, why are you up so early? Why are you making all this noise?" Piper barged into the kitchen, still sleepy in her pajamas and oversized T-shirt, aggressively making her way over to the kitchen island.

Good morning to you too," Annabeth said smiling as she served Piper a pancake and poured the coffee into a cup.

" I have a patient who has a meeting with the review board, and I've to been there " Annabeth replied taking a sip of her coffee

"what bu iss a Saturday !" Piper asked with a mouthful of pancake

"Yeah, but it's important," Annabeth said, finishing her breakfast and grabbing her bag. "Don't eat them all; leave some for Reyna." Annabeth said as she walked toward the front door. All she heard was a "hmmm, yaaa" as she closed the door behind her.

Annabeth walked in the hospital struggling to get her phone out of the bag , as she walked towards the elevator she saw Percy standing by the elevator looking good dressed in a dark shirt and black jeans, hands in his pockets as he rocked back and forth.

"Hey Percy, how are you today?", Annabeth asked as she stopped behind him, waiting for the elevator.

"Oh, hey Dr...? He trailed off, not knowing her name as he smiled sheepishly.

"Annabeth Chase " Annabeth replied nodding her head smiling a bit

The elevator doors opened; they walked in together.

"Right, Dr. Chase. Just nervous about the meeting, they told me to wait in a room; I can't be in the meeting." He said, turning towards her.

"Yah it's protocol, don't worry Dr. Chiron and I will be there and we'll try our best; hopefully, the board comes to an agreement." Annabeth replied as they walked out and towards the indoor stairs.

"I'll see you later," Annabeth said as they parted ways. The office was just up ahead; she took a deep breath and composed herself as she walked into the room.

Chiron and two others were already seated at the unnecessarily large conference table, each with a folder, likely containing Percy's file.

Good morning," Annabeth said apologetically as she quickly walked over to Chiron and sat down beside him in silence.

" alright so we'll get started now " one of the male board member said as he flipped through the file

"From what I understand, Mr. Percy Jackson has a rare disease which puts him at risk, and you want us to make him a pro bono case, because he isn't well-off economically?" He stated bluntly, looking over to her and Chiron.

"Yes, that is correct," Chiron replied, looking over at the two of them.

" I have an alternative, as the board at the moment can not move forward with this motion, a pro bono case is expensive and this case itself would require long term care which is not ideal at the moment " the man said as he leaned back in his chair, waiting for us to say something .

" ok and what would that alternative be ?" Chiron asked leaning forward as he crossed his arms , looking a bit displeased .

"We can give him a Medic Alert bracelet," he started to say, but Annabeth cut him off.

" a medic alert bracelet, that's your solution?" Annabeth asked unnerved throwing her hands up , looking at him agitatedly

" If the patient has a hypotensive crisis --" he started again but sadly was cutoff again

"when" Chiron said looking at him curiously, "when he has a hypotensive crisis " he repeated leaning back.

the man now looked annoyed " the paramedics will bring Mr jackson here where he will be treated for his emergent condition--"

"Yah, that'll be too late he'll be dead " Annabeth said, cutting off , She was frantic now, her eyes darting between Chiron and the man.

" so your sending him home to die but your ok with it because your giving him a bracelet with his name on it" Annabeth said plainly , shaking her head .

"Look Dr. Chase, we can't afford the cost; it's simply that. Sorry, but that's the best we can do "The lady interrupted as she started gathering her belongings.

"But you have to understand," Annabeth started, but she was cut off.

" this is final dr chase , this meeting is over , thank you for your time " the man said as he got up and grabbed his folder and walked out with the lady following behind.

Annabeth stood in the doorway of the room as Chiron talked with Percy who was sitting on the bed looking a bit defeated, she felt so bad , she couldn't even do anything, those asshole board members who couldn't be bothered as a life was getting destroyed as long as they got their money

"I've prescribed alpha blockers and set you up at the free clinic," Chiron said as he removed a card from his pocket. "Here, you can call me anytime; we'll see you through this." He added, sighing as he placed his hand on Percy's shoulder, giving him a nod.

"Thank you," Percy whispered silently as he looked down at his feet, feeling dejected.

Chiron gave her a sympathetic look as he passed by her outside the door

Annabeth breathed in. "Hey," she said. "Umm...I tried." She looked down at her hands. "I'm sorry." She walked a bit farther into the room and sat on the next bed.

" I know it's ok.." he said smiling "dr Chiron set me up with blockers and some free samples , so I'm good for a while " he added waving his hand through his hair

"Good, good," Annabeth said, looking happy, but she wasn't; she looked at him for a long moment, his green eyes staring deeply into her own grey ones. "Good luck, Percy." She turned and walked toward the door.

she didn't know what came over her the next second but she turned around and said

She marched right back in front of him, grinning. "I've got great medical insurance."

"That's the way you kick a guy when he's down," Percy joked, pretending to be hurt.

"I'm- I'm saying " Annabeth laughed a bit because what she was about to say was insane " I'm saying... I'll marry you " she said looking at him , his eyes widening a bit as he looked at her amazed and shocked and confused.
