UA Teacher Chat
Mandalorian: Hey ya'll, we sure Endeavor only has one kid? Cuz I think Midoriya just used Todoroki's quirk.
Karaoke Master: Was that even Midoriya? Are we certain Todoroki didn't just lose control of his quirk for a moment?
Mei Makes Me Drink: You saw the same thing we did. It definitely looked like Midoriya was the one who pushed the ice. @Eraserpillar Has he ever done this in class? The kid should really request some equipment to help with the cold if he is. Todoroki too while we're at it.
Eraserpillar: No.
Eraserpillar: I didn't sign up for two Todoroki's.
Rattator: Resignation denied once again. I will, however, look into your request for a heated sleeping bag.
Eraserpillar: There is a god.
Rattator: But of course, I have been here the entire time.
Kneecaps Beware: I think we are all missing something important.
Rattator: Aizawa, I found your comparison of me to Mickey Mouse you sent to Mic humorous. Well done!
Eraserpillar: You can see our private messages?
Rattator: I'm more surprised you wouldn't have guessed that.
Eraserpillar: Making sure Midoriya doesn't burn my classroom down with half the kids helping him tends to take up my brain cells.
Rattator: A good explanation if I have ever heard one. Speaking of Mickey Mouse, do tell Mic to tone down the Disney references. Their lawyers are on the phone as we speak. They did not appreciate their movie being referred to without permission.
Mandalorian: Ain't that free publicity for them?
Ratttator: My mistake. I meant they did not appreciate being referred to without being properly compensated.
Rattator: While we have the topic of private conversations fresh on the mind, I would appreciate it if someone could speak to Midnight about the lewd photos she sends her boyfriend. Despite my requests, she continues.
Eraserpillar: You could stop looking at our private conversations.
Rattator: Oh, Aizawa! Another great joke! I must say, you are on a roll today.
Kneecaps Beware: AS I WAS SAYING!
Rattator: Apologies, Chiyo.
Kneecaps Beware: I am looking at Midoriya's file and I can't find any indication in his quirk registry that this should be possible.
Kneecaps Beware: My only theory is either something was missed on his initial quirk registration, which given the complexity of his quirk is possible, or his quirk just experienced an evolution.
Kneecaps Beware: The latter theory is less likely because I can not find any link in his quirk to ice or water manipulation. Or whatever this is.
Rattator: Your concerns are noted Chiyo, thank you. But be rest assured, I know exactly what is happening here.
Kneecaps Beware: Wonderful, would you mind telling the rest of us?
Rattator: Yes :D
Eraserpillar: Yes you'll tell us or yes you mind?
Rattator: :D
Rattator: On that note, All Might, I keep seeing you typing without saying anything, please come see me as soon as the match ends.
All Shite: Yes, sir.
"Where did THAT come from?!" Toru rushes to the railing, looking over. "How does he keep coming up with stuff out of nowhere?!"
"Who cares?!" Mina runs up beside her. "That was so cool!" It is a testament to Toru how she is able to convey a deadpan stare despite Mina not being able to see it. "What?"
"What do you mean, what?! Cool? Seriously?!"
"I don't know-ohhhhhh!" The alien girl slaps her forehead. "I didn't mean it like that!"
"I don't know if that makes it better or not!" Toru yells, her sleeves indicating she's throwing her hands up.
"Oh, my. Monsieur Midoriya is quite adept at upstaging those around him, no?" Aoyama observes, a twinkle in his eye.
"Did you guys see Todoroki's face?!" Sero doubles over in laughter. "Dude doesn't know what the hell is happening!!"
"Do we?" Tsu asks pointedly.
"About how Midori can suddenly control ice? Nope!" Mina answers with an audible pop on the 'p.' "But we do know Todoroki is going to get his butt kicked!" Mina's smile drops a little when she notices Yaomomo looking like she wants to join the conversation, but keeps stopping herself.
Contrary to popular belief, Mina doesn't only involve herself in the love lives of her classmates. She fancies herself a good old-fashioned detective! And no one should look as sad as Yaomomo does! She has no choice but to add it to her growing list of things to be investigated.
Sure, she has ships to sail, but Mina is very efficient in her scheduling. "You're cheering for Midoriya?…" Jiro raises an eyebrow at her.
"I'm cheering for both of them! Besides, what girl doesn't like watching two handsome boys duke it out?" She can barely hold her snickers as she spins back around just as Ochako's head snaps toward her.
"You like Midoriya?" Toru asks as quietly as she can with a cheering crowd around them.
Mina finally lets out a little laugh now that Ochako can't see. "Don't get me wrong, he's a cutie, but I love him and Ochako together. And if she thinks someone else might be moving in on her man…"
Toru's arms wave through the air enthusiastically. "It'll make her confess faster before she loses her chance!" The invisible girl finishes for her.
"It's brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!" Mina points to the sky.
"It would be if you guys were quieter." Both shippers flinch and turn around to see Ochako giving them a flat stare. "You know, I bet you both can get a great view of the match from the stratosphere," Ochako says, holding her hands up threateningly.
While Mina and Toru beg for their lives, Jiro nudges Yaomomo. "Are you okay?"
"Yes…" the heiress responds hesitantly. "I have several theories on how Midoriya could be accomplishing this feat, but I am unsure if…"
"Well I don't have a clue, so I wanna hear what you got?" Jiro leans back and tries to appear nonchalant although it's clear she's anything but.
"Yes." Tokoyami approaches them with Shoji in tow. "We are curious as to what deity Midoriya has made a deal with to use Todoroki's ice against him."
"He means we have no idea either," Shoji translates much to Tokoyami's displeasure, if his undignified squawk is any indication.
Ojiro, Tsu, and several others turn to their Vice President ,who is stunned. "Even after I lost the way I did, you all still care what I have to say?"
"Hell yea we do!" Kirishima replies for his confused classmates, dragging Bakugo with him. The blond throws the redhead's arm off him but doesn't leave. "Getting knocked down is part of being a hero! What you do now is get back up and figure out how to not get knocked down again!"
"Huh, he didn't say-"
"It's the manliest thing to do!"
"There it is."
Yaomomo looks from classmate to classmate, friend to friend, and takes a deep breath before looking up, eyes shining. "O-okay. Well, I think…"
"Yeah!!" Izuku pumps the chilly air. "It's working! I did it haha!" He laughs uncontrollably, clutching his stomach, and points at Todoroki who's still staring at him dumbly from the ground. "You're so screwed!"
That seems to wake up the son of the number two hero, who jumps to his feet instantly and sends another blast of ice at Izuku, but the greenette laughs. The power feels so natural to him, like it had always been part of him.
Izuku reaches forward and grabs hold of the ice mentally before spinning on the spot and sending the attack back to sender. To his credit, Todoroki is ready this time and stops the ice before it can hit him.
"Strike two," Izuku mocks. "Maybe third time's a charm?"
Todoroki's response is for his scowl to deepen and this time, to send two smaller waves of ice at Izuku from different directions. Getting an idea, a trail of green light travels up Izuku's arm, and he redirects both ice waves back to his opponent.
Todoroki stomps his right foot down to stop the ice, but his face shifts when he realizes something is wrong. Too late. The two trails of ice Todoroki can see disappear in a green light, with Izuku having turned the real ice invisible and creating fake ice with illusions.
There's no warning for Todoroki before he's smacked again by ice, being sent hurtling into the ground. "Ice and illusions." Izuku examines his hands. "Nice!"
"Are you done playing?" Todoroki shoots off from the ground, riding a wave of ice right toward Izuku, whose expression changes from playful to annoyance.
"Are you?!" Izuku waves his hand, and the ice Todoroki is riding throws him up in the air. With his other hand, Izuku uses some of the ice left in the ring to hit Todoroki in the chest and bring him back down to earth. Something he hopes to do in more ways than one today.
"You're not stupid, Todoroki!" Izuku shouts while Todoroki stumbles back onto his feet. "I can take any attack you throw at me and throw it right back! But…" Izuku tilts his head knowingly. "You do have a way to hit me that I can't stop."
"Shut up!" Todoroki charges him, free of ice. At least at first. In a show of on the fly learning that's honestly really impressive to Izuku, Todoroki duplicates what Izuku just did to launch himself into the air above him.
Covering his fist in ice, Todoroki falls back down on a direct collision course with Izuku. Could he dodge? Probably. But like he always says, where's the fun in that?
Izuku gathers ice from around him and forms a circular shield in his hands and holds it up just in time to block Todoroki's punch, before pushing the boy off him. Like it's a frisbee, Izuku throws the shield at Todoroki, but he dodges.
Unfortunately for him, there was so much ice around the ring, Izuku can do pretty much whatever he wants. Case in point, he makes an ice wall in the path of the shield. Using his powers, Izuku is able to harden the ice even more, which allows the ice shield to bounce off the wall and hit Todoroki in the back, once again knocking him to the ground.
"There you go, Izuku!!! Hey, I taught him that one!" Izuku smiles at his uncle's words and looks up to see Thor cheering loudly for him, but his heart sinks a bit when he sees his father's disappointed stare. Was this really that bad?
He knows his dad didn't want him to learn this power, but Izuku can't remember a time when Loki ever looked at him like that. He didn't like the feeling it gave him.
"Where are you looking, Midoriya?" Izuku can't even turn his head before he feels Todoroki's ice-covered fist against his cheek. Izuku yells in pain as the punch sends him sprawling.
Izuku quickly rolls away and puts some distance between them, before forming two throwing knives from the ice around him and throwing them at Todoroki. He counters by digging ice under the ring and using it to lift the cement in front of him to block the knives.
Smart. If he just created a wall of ice, Izuku could take it down. That's pretty good…except the knives Izuku threw were made of ice. With a swipe of his hands, the knives change direction mid-air and fly around the wall before stabbing Todoroki in the right arm.
He shouts in pain, dropping to one knee, the cement wall falling with him. "Is this what you're going to do when you face a villain who can counter your ice, Todoroki? Kneel to them?!"
"I…I don't need his power!" Todoroki stands, ripping the ice knives from his arm, causing him to bleed. He yells in defiance, charging Izuku, fists raised, notably slower.
"You know the book that taught me to do this said I could make weapons out of the ice like swords and knives?" Izuku asks rhetorically while shaping the ice around him. "Boring!! I have those! So I did a little studying and worked on something different!"
Izuku waves his hands once again and Todoroki stops, jaw slack. "Oh, shi-" is all he can get out before Izuku knocks him away with an ice hammer that looks strikingly similar to a certain God of Thunder's.
"This is awesome!" Izuku exclaims, giggling while spinning the hammer a few times. "I'm not allowed to try and lift the original so…" Izuku chucks the hammer at Todoroki but he creates a barrier to bat the hammer away. Izuku can't help but cackle as the hammer, made of ice, flies back to his hand just like the real thing.
"There you go, IZUKUUUUU!! I taught him that! That's me!!"
Thor's words spur Izuku on. "Still think you don't need fire?!"
"I…I don't…" Todoroki stands before him, his right side nearly completely frosted over. He can barely move except for the shaking of his head. "His power…"
Izuku is at his limit. "IT'S YOUR POWER, NOT HIS!!"
Todoroki's head shoots up, a far-off expression on his face. As if he wasn't there at this moment, but somewhere far away. And that's when the pain starts.
A spark on Todoroki's left arm is all the warning Izuku gets before a column of fire erupts from Todoroki. The ice on his body and around the ring evaporates almost instantly. The wave of heat is so strong it blasts him off his feet and Izuku feels every bit of his fall.
Because holy crap, Izuku is hurting. It's like Todoroki lit every cell of his body on fire, and then stuck one of his knives through each of them. 'Ironic.' Oh good, it's nice to know his brain still has a sense of humor even though it feels like he's dying. It's probably not a good thing how comforting that is.
Izuku puts his right hand on the ground, another wave of pain coursing through him when his palm touches the ground. It's like a blade is being pushed centimeter by centimeter through his hand but Izuku cries in pain, pushing himself up to his hands and knees.
'If following my glorious purpose is going to make me lose…' Izuku looks up at Todoroki who grins wildly while his fire dances around him. 'It was worth it! And I'm not going to lose on my knees!'
"Helping an enemy wasn't very smart…"
Planting his feet to steady himself, Izuku stands and matches Todoroki's grin. "How about helping a friend?"
"SHOTOOOOO!!" Both boys look over to see a pleased Endeavor shouting at them from the stands. It almost ruins Izuku's mood. "Good! Finally!! With this, it is your first step to surpassing me and fulfilling my desire!!"
"IZUKUUUUU!!" Endeavor is started by Thor standing to yell as well. "Don't back down! Keep fighting! Show them why the gates of hell will one day be filled with the screams of your enemies!" This earns him some, let's call them curious looks.
"SHOTOOOOO!! Use my blood and take your victory!"
"IZUKUUUUUUU!! Show them why Asgard is undefeated in battle!"
"SHOTOOOOOOOO!!"
"IZUKUUUUUUUUUU!!"
"SHOTOOOOOOOOOO!!"
"IZUKUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!"
Ignoring whatever the heck is going on there, he turns his attention back to Todoroki. "Ready to end this?"
"Don't blame me for whatever happens next."
Suddenly, Izuku conjures two daggers and charges Todoroki. The fire and ice user lives up to his quirk by sending a wave of ice at Izuku before lifting his left hand. There's a moment of silence before an explosion that no one was expecting rocks the stadium.
Audience members and staff alike hold on so they don't accidentally recreate Team Rocket's famous exit before finally, the blast ceases. Smoke covers the arena so none can see.
"What are you teaching these kids Sho…"
The smoke clears and people gasp. Izuku stands in the ring, gasping for air.
"Izuku Midoriya withstood that blast?!! How-"
His question is answered when Izuku's astral projection begins to flicker in and out of existence as the real Izuku starts to lose consciousness. Monoma's words from earlier ring in his ears.
"Look what we caught. A rat!"
Thanks, Monoma. Izuku's practiced turning into a lot of different animals over the years. So much so, he sometimes forgets which ones he can turn into. In this instance…
A black rat with green on the edges of its fur emerges weakly from under the rubble of the arena, having burrowed itself deeply. In a flash of light, Izuku reappears on his back, fighting to stay awake.
His projection served two purposes. To get Todoroki to attack, and…he turns his head slightly to see the other boy also lying on his back in the grass. Also so his projection could lower any ice walls Todoroki would use to keep himself in the ring.
It was fun using moves taught to him by Thor, but at the end of the day, he's Loki's son, and Izuku always makes sure to have one final trick up his sleeve just in case. The astral projection fades away.
Knowing what happens when cooled air is rapidly heated also helps.
All Izuku can do is lay on his back, taking deep breaths while he looks up at the sky, his eyes slowly closing. Midnight's voice is the last thing he hears. "Todoroki is out! Izuku Midoriya is the winner!!"
"Quite the match, wouldn't you say?" Nezu says casually to Toshinori while he pours him a cup of tea after young Midoriya's fight.
"I can say I was not expecting certain aspects," Toshinori agrees. He takes his offered tea, knowing too well to refuse, and sits across from him in the staff room. A part of him wants to ask if Nezu has a traveling tea set or if he keeps one in every room but that's not important right now.
Nezu seems perfectly content to let them drink in silence, but that's not something he can handle right now. "Sir, about young Midoriya's match-"
"Are you worried because of the boy's apparent second quirk, he may be an agent of All for One?" Nezu asks him as if they're making plans to go out to eat.
Toshinori takes a sip of his tea and surprisingly, it calms him. Perhaps it's intended effect. "If…" He takes a moment to collect his thoughts. "If I had witnessed what I had before meeting the boy, I would say yes. But…"
"But?"
He nods. "But I have known young Midoriya for over a year now. He knows the secret of One for All and has not betrayed that trust as far as I am aware. If he had I probably wouldn't be here having this conversation…" Toshinori chuckles a bit to himself before looking back up at Nezu, his blue eyes burning like the fire he had just witnessed.
"I don't know how he has this new ability, but I do know I witnessed him risk his life to save a little girl, and I've had the privilege of watching him take care of Eri after she had an experience no one should have to go through. After all of that, I believe Midoriya has earned the right to at least explain to us what happened himself."
"Well said!" Nezu responds, pouring himself a second cup. "But unnecessary because I already know how he achieved this ability."
Toshinori feels as if a train has been lifted off his shoulders. He would know, he's been in that situation more than once. "That's wonderful! How did he do it?"
"I won't be telling you!"
The number one hero can't stop himself from hacking up a lung and some blood. "S-sir? You know, but you won't say?"
"You coughed into your tea, that won't do." Nezu sighs, taking his cup back and preparing him a new one. "And you are correct. Mostly. What I mean is, I won't tell you without Midoriya's permission."
"It's that big of a secret?" All Might questions while he dabs his mouth with a handkerchief.
Nezu's black eyes meet his. "I believe you would want my permission before revealing your quirk, yes?"
"Oh…"
"I'm glad you understand now." The principal carefully places a new cup of tea in front of him. "Rest assured, there is no foul play afoot. And I would be more than happy to ask Midoriya for his blessing after the festival. We don't want to distract him while he's participating, do we?" The mouse hybrid laughs a little. "Is this acceptable?"
Well, he trusted Nezu with his biggest secret, so he sees no reason to not trust him with this. Toshinori nods.
"Excellent!" Nezu claps his paws. "Now do drink your tea, it would be rude not to after you desecrated your first serving."
It doesn't feel like a threat, but Toshinori obliges immediately anyway.
Tenko could be playing video games right now. He absolutely could. Just relaxing at home, enjoying the peace and serenity of his teammates threatening to swat each other or do unspeakable things to each other's mothers. It's like music to his ears.
But no. Tenko decided to try his best at the Sports Festival instead. Does he regret it? No. He's got a long-lost sister he thought he killed to save, and boy, is that a sentence. But it doesn't matter; Tenko failed his family all those years ago, and now that he's been given a miracle by who knows what - God, a horned demon, a wish upon a star, he doesn't care - he's dragging Hana back over to his side even if he has to do it while she's kicking and screaming.
And judging by how his fight is going, Kaminari is a person he wants there to help him because holy fucking shit is he something else.
Tenko isn't able to dodge in time and Kaminari's punch clips him on the side, sending the decay user spinning onto the ground.
"C'mon man." He hears Kaminari's voice above him. "I'm trying to do this without hurting you."
Without a word, Tenko disintegrates some rubble from the arena and blows the dust in Kaminari's face. That causes the blonde to sputter and cough, backing up. "D-dude! Oh, man!"
Tenko tackles Kaminari onto the ground, pinning him on his stomach and placing four fingers on his head. He knows Aizawa is watching closely, using drone footage zoomed in on them to help. And that his teacher will erase his quirk the instant he puts five fingers on someone.
But still, Tenko hates the way his skin crawls when he does this. He shouldn't, but he knows the feeling of decaying human flesh in his hand and he wants to puke, cry, and puke some more just thinking about it. But that won't happen again if he can help it.
Even with his resolve, Tenko can't stop his other hand from reaching up and scratching his neck as his anxieties take over. Kaminari knows he won't decay him, it's just about the threat.
He scratches his neck harder. Stop. Focus on the positives. He couldn't even touch a person with his bare hand for years after and now look at him. It's not much, but it's something.
Shaking away old memories threatening to overwhelm him, Tenko says, "gg, no re?"
"That was a good one, man!" Kaminari chortles from under him. "Sorry about this." Lightning crackles all across his body, shocking Tenko, and causing him to involuntarily let go.
He has no time to react before Kaminari grabs him and the two jump high into the air. Tenko swears they float for a few seconds too long but he can't contemplate that before he's thrown, landing on the grass outside of the ring.
"Shimura is out! Denki Kaminari advances to the finals!!"
Tenko sits up on his knees, catching his breath. So that was that. He knows what All Might said but he still can't help but hope he impressed the man. Tenko looks up at one of the drones filming him. He hopes she saw as well.
Hirona pays no attention to the tech guy who runs out of the room screaming. He didn't matter, she already had the location of the hero she wanted to have a friendly chat with.
At least she will in a second. Right after she watches Shimura get thrown out of the ring and finally get knocked out of the sports festival. It should be satisfying.
"Tomura did better than Sensei expected him to, impressive," Kurogiri compliments before opening a new portal. "As per your plan, I have our next location. After you."
'Why is he trying so hard?' Shimura already has his easy life planned for him thanks to the heroes, why was he trying so hard when he didn't have to? And why did she get the feeling she knew the answer?
In a moment of spite, Hirona throws an energy disc at the tv and destroys it before walking through the portal.
"Stop moving this instant!"
"I understand you're angry, but that's no reason to-"
"I have all the reason!" Thor spins around the table in the empty room Loki had dragged them to after Izuku's match. He kicks the piece of furniture into Loki, distracting him just long enough so he could bat the knife out of his brother's hand.
"If we may speak of this rationally-"
"Rationally?!" Loki grabs the table and launches it across the room with enough force to destroy it when it hits the wall. "What right did you have to steal from me and-"
"Are you of all people about to lecture me on stealing?" Thor crosses his arms in disbelief.
Loki groans in frustration but concedes. "Very well. But you had no right to give Izuku that book! He never needed to learn anything from those savages!"
"Is that not his choice?" Thor retorts. "Brother, I understand your misgivings about the Frost Giants, especially after that stupid trip we took when we were kids." Loki clenches his jaw. "You have every right not to want to associate with them. But Izuku also has the right to learn about them if he chooses."
"Did he choose this, brother?" Loki spits, pacing back and forth. "Or did you choose it for him? Are you trying to get back at me for something? Or do you delight in just reminding me of what I truly am?"
"Loki…"
"Despite your best efforts, Thor, I am not blind. I saw how people would look at me when we were growing up. The whispers behind my back. Did you know many claimed I was your pet, and not your brother?"
"And they were wrong." Thor grabs the trickster's arm, partly to stop his pacing and partly to make sure he's actually still there. "Have I not told you over and over that your place of birth did not matter to me? To father? To mother?"
It wasn't fair for him to use their mother, but it was all Thor could do to get Loki to listen. "Frost Giant or Asgardian, you are family. Both you and Izuku. That's what you truly are."
Loki seems calm for a moment before ripping his arm out of Thor's grasp but not moving away. "That is much easier to say from your position." Loki won't look at him. "Have you ever been hated just for existing?"
"Brother-"
"That part of me has brought nothing but pain and hatred. And I did not need it to rise above my station and become a god. Izuku doesn't either."
"That's just it." Thor puts his fist on Loki's chest and then himself. "Izuku. Denki. They are not us. This world is not our own. They should be allowed to make their own decisions and surpass us in their own ways."
Loki thinks, still not looking at him. His jaw tightened and loosened over and over. "It may not seem like it," he whispers. "But my teachings are not to hold Izuku back. But to spare him the same pain I experienced."
The God of Mischief turns on a dime and walks towards the door, but Thor's voice stops him. "Our children are not us. And you should be proud of what Izuku has accomplished with his new abilities in only a couple of weeks."
Green eyes face Thor again, and he has to stop himself from showing too much relief at the curiosity they display, and not disappointment. "Izuku learned all of that in a couple of weeks?" Loki is good at hiding a great many things, but never when he's proud of his son.
"Yes," Thor confirms. "As far as he's told me, he still has not been able to freeze the moisture in the air yet to create his own ice, but he is making steady progress."
Loki hums. "I suppose that shouldn't be too surprising, given whose blood runs in his veins."
Thor can't stop his good-natured scoff. "Always finding a way to compliment yourself, aren't you?"
"Not exactly."
He shrugs. "Either way, I don't believe Izuku will stop practicing his cryokinesis just because you ask. His ability to do the opposite of what he's told comes from you, I believe."
Loki chuckles before Thor continues. "It would be easier on him if his father supported him."
"It's a credit to Izuku how much he's learned in a short time, however…" Loki's face becomes pained again. "I don't think I can ever support this."
Denki puts down his phone as Izuku's eyes begin to open. All four of the finalists had found themselves in Recovery Girl's office. Izuku and Todoroki because they clearly needed it. Tenko as a just in case, and Denki because he walked Tenko down here.
"Where-" Izuku winces at his hoarse voice and Denki, being the only one not in a bed, scoots a cup of water closer to him. Which his cousin eagerly drinks.
"Medical office," Denki tells him. "Congrats on your win by the way."
"I won?" Izuku's voice is a bit delirious. Not that Denki can blame him. "Wait, what about your m-"
"Kaminari won." Izuku jumps and gasps a little in pain. It looks like he just realized Tenko is lying in the bed next to him. "Which isn't a surprise. He rolled max stats in dexterity and strength while having no cooldown on any of his moves!"
"Yes." Izuku jumps again, also not realizing Todoroki is on the bed on the other side. He must really be out of it. "Kaminari is also able to use different aspects of his quirk in quick succession."
Denki stifles a laugh and Tenko very much looks like he wants to yell but chooses to groan instead, flopping back onto his bed.
"How are you doing?" Izuku asks Todoroki. Denki doesn't know what went on during their match but it looked like it was some heavy shit. Especially if whatever it was got Todoroki to use his fire for the first time.
Denki's theory is supported more when Todoroki's eyes flicker to him and Tenko. "You…have given me much to think about. But Midoriya." Izuku perks up. "Thanks." You couldn't even tell Izuku was injured anymore by the way he smiled.
Unfortunately, Recovery Girl could very much tell. Something she let them know coming back into the office. "You have a lot of gusto to be smiling like that after what you just put your body through!" All four of them wince at her harsh tone and Izuku drops his head in repentance.
"Sorry…"
The doctor huffs. "You are very lucky for the regenerative part of your quirk, which kept you moving through the match and is keeping you conscious now. If not for that, I would pull you from the tournament!"
Izuku looks up, ready to protest. But Recovery Girl cuts him off. "However, between my quirk and your own, while you won't be back to full health in time for the final match, it will be enough for me to clear you."
"That's fine with me," Denki says. "I was gonna make them wait a bit until you were healed before we fight anyway."
His cousin snorts. "We can't make them wait."
"Why not?" Denki challenges. "What are they gonna do if we both don't show? Disqualify us both? Can you imagine how mad people would be!"
Izuku and Tenko laugh, with the latter saying, "camping out here until you're both ready? Midoriya? Sure. But never took you as a griefer too, Kaminari."
"For me personally," Todoroki interjects. "I'd expect something like this from Midoriya, given his antics in class, but I didn't know you were also one to annoy others for fun, Kaminari."
Tenko's eye twitches. "That's what I just!-oh forget it!" He flops again, much to Izuku and Denki's amusement and Todorki's confusion.
"Well." Recovery Girl puts down her clipboard. "It would seem you are all ready to receive your visitors." She opens the door partly and it's not who Denki is expecting.
"Aizawa-sensei?"
Their teacher takes a step inside and sweeps over them with bored eyes. "Good. You're all alive. I was worried my night would be taken over by paperwork again."
"Awww, Aizawa, you do care!" Izuku says excitedly.
Denki smiles too but his expression turns to worry at the creepy smile Aizawa gives Izuku. "I'm actually here as more of an escort."
A hand grabs the door. "Izuku…" Oh. Well, it was nice knowing him. And judging by his gasp, Izuku knows what is coming too. "MIDORIYA!" The door is slammed open to reveal a very pissed-off looking Uraraka. And next to her. An equally mad Eri.
"T-Todoroki!" Izuku pats the other boy's bed quickly. "Quick! Light me on fire, now!"
Todoroki looks between him and the very upset girls before making a very smart decision. He turns over, facing away from Izuku. "No, I don't think I will."
"Press F to pay respects," Tenko says solemnly, putting his head down.
"MIDO!!" Eri marches over, with Uraraka helping her onto the bed so she can look the terrified green-haired boy in the eye. "That was bad! Very, very bad! You're going to timeout Mister! No knives for a month! Do you hear me, Mido?! And you owe me so many candy apples!-"
"No, Eri." Aizawa interrupts.
The unicorn recovers quickly. "W-well, still! Bad Mido! Bad!"
By now, Izuku is leaning as far back into his bed as possible. "S-sorry." He slowly turns to Uraraka, who only offers him crossed arms and a stern look.
"I couldn't have said it better myself. You heard her, Deku. Grounded." Izuku whimpers. "But now since that's out of the way…"
Izuku can't get his sigh out before both girls tackle him in a hug. Tsu croaks out an 'awww' from the doorway before walking over to Tenko's bed to check on him. Someone bumps Denki's shoulder.
"Wow," Tokage laughs. "You're one match away from winning this whole thing for me. You must really care."
Denki pretends to check his phone. "Sorry. I promised like fifteen girls I was winning the festival for them, which one were you?"
Tokage waves him off. "That's fine. I made Midoriya promise to win this thing for me too." When Denki makes a face like he has a lemon in his mouth, she laughs again.
"Pfff." He bumps her back, laughing as well. "That wasn't cool."
"Yeah, but you love me anyway," she sings. Denki only grumbles.
"Eri?"
The girl in question had gotten off Izuku's bed and was tapping Todoroki on the side. When he turns back, she looks him over. "You made the fire?"
Todoroki nods.
"You should do it more. It was very pretty." Todoroki looks so lost, it causes a wave of giggles to pass through the room.
Aizawa puts the lower half of his face into his capture weapon. "Kids."
