A/N: Day 6 of NaNoWriMo (continued)! To answer the question that you are probably having about all of the Harry chapters: This will mostly be Harry's side of things until Percy reaches 12 years old. So, between Harry's second and third years... I'm trying to not make this too long until that point, but I also don't want to rush it too much...

Rising Storms

A Harry Potter and Percy Jackson crossover

Chapter 9:

Harry

A package came for Harry soon after Harry's talk with Marcus Flint and Professor Snape. A broom-shaped package. Harry grinned at the sounds of shock.

After Harry officially joined the Slytherin Quidditch team as their Seeker, with the arrival of his Nimbus 2000, the news spread quickly throughout the house, and the common room was filled with an air of excitement. The Slytherins decided to celebrate the occasion with a spontaneous gathering.

The room was festively adorned with green and silver streamers, and a table was filled with a variety of snacks and drinks. As the evening approached, the common room was abuzz with Slytherins of all years.

Draco Malfoy was among the first to arrive. He raised his glass of pumpkin juice and addressed the gathering. "Everyone, raise your glasses to our newest Seeker and the newest member of the Slytherin Quidditch team, Harry Potter!"

The room erupted with applause, and everyone lifted their glasses in a toast. Harry, somewhat overwhelmed by the attention, raised his own glass and nodded in appreciation.

Blaise Zabini, one of Harry's fellow first-year Slytherins, approached with a mischievous grin. "Potter, you've just made history. The first-year Seeker. Let's see you keep the Slytherin reputation intact."

The room was filled with laughter, and even Harry couldn't help but smile. He was starting to feel like a part of the house and was grateful for the warm reception he had received.

As the evening continued, the Slytherins took turns sharing their favorite Quidditch memories and tips with Harry. They were genuinely excited to have him on their team and were eager to offer their support.

Pansy Parkinson offered Harry some words of encouragement. "You'll do great, Potter. Just remember, stay sharp and trust your instincts."

The atmosphere was vibrant, and Harry felt an increasing sense of belonging to Slytherin house. The initial doubts he had about being sorted into Slytherin were beginning to fade.

As the evening progressed, Draco took Harry aside and introduced him to the rest of the Slytherin Quidditch team. They were an eclectic group, including students from various years, and they welcomed Harry with open arms.

The team captain, Marcus Flint spoke with a seriousness that contrasted with the cheerful mood in the common room. "Potter, I hope you understand the responsibility that comes with being our Seeker. Slytherin expects excellence on the Quidditch pitch. Can we count on you?"

Harry nodded confidently. "Absolutely, Captain. I'll do my best to make Slytherin proud."

Flint extended his hand, and Harry shook it firmly. "That's what we like to hear, Potter. Welcome to the team."

The celebration continued late into the night, with laughter, stories, and camaraderie. Harry felt a growing sense of unity within Slytherin and was grateful for the opportunity to be part of the house's Quidditch team.

The evening ended with a rousing cheer for Harry as he left the common room, looking forward to his first Quidditch practice and the chance to prove himself on the pitch. The warm reception from his Slytherin housemates had banished any lingering doubts, and he was determined to be the best Seeker he could be for his newfound team and house.

...

As Halloween approached, the atmosphere at Hogwarts buzzed with excitement. The Hogwarts Castle was decorated with pumpkins, floating candles, and all sorts of eerie enchantments. In Charms class, Professor Flitwick had prepared a special lesson on levitating pumpkins. The students were paired up, and Harry was working with Draco Malfoy.

At the neighboring table, Ron and Hermione were partners. As the lesson began, Ron muttered something to Hermione that only she could hear, causing her face to turn crimson with anger. The insult was sharp and unkind, and Hermione's eyes brimmed with tears.

She attempted to focus on the lesson, but her concentration wavered. Ron seemed oblivious to the effect of his words. Meanwhile, Harry was engrossed in practicing the charm, unaware of the tension next to him.

After class, as they walked to the Great Hall for the Halloween feast, Hermione approached Harry and Ron. "Ron, that wasn't fair what you said in class," she said, her voice trembling with frustration.

Ron looked bewildered. "What are you talking about?"

Hermione's eyes brimmed with tears again, and she walked ahead, not waiting for a response. Ron exchanged a puzzled look with Harry.

At the Halloween feast, the Great Hall was transformed with enchanting decorations. The tables were filled with delicious foods and sweets, and the students were in high spirits. As the feast progressed, Harry realized that Hermione was conspicuously absent from the Ravenclaw table. He walked over to the Gryfindor table where Ron sat. "Where's Hermione?" Harry asked, glancing around the Great Hall.

Ron, still unaware of how the incident in Charms class was received, shrugged. "I don't know, she just stormed off after class."

Harry couldn't help but feel concerned. He knew that Hermione was likely hurt by Ron's thoughtless remark and wanted to find her to make amends. Leaving the Halloween feast behind, Harry set out to find Hermione. He searched the corridors and finally located her in the library, sitting at a table, surrounded by books, her face hidden behind one of them.

"Hermione," Harry said gently as he approached.

Hermione looked up, her eyes red-rimmed from crying. "Oh, Harry, it's just... never mind."

"What happened, Hermione?" Harry asked, sitting down beside her.

She hesitated for a moment but eventually decided to confide in Harry. She explained how Ron had insulted her during the Charms lesson and how it had upset her.

Harry's expression turned stern. "Ron should know better than that. I'll talk to him, Hermione."

She nodded appreciatively. "Thank you, Harry. I just needed to get it off my chest."

Harry understood that Ron's occasional insensitivity was a source of frustration for Hermione. As he comforted her and offered support, he also knew that he would need to talk to Ron about the incident and remind his friend to be more considerate, especially toward someone as kind and intelligent as Hermione. "Let's study ahead," he said as he set his school bag on the table near her books.

"Okay," she replied.

The library was quiet as Harry and Hermione sat at a table engrossed in their respective books. Unbeknownst to them, danger was approaching. A massive troll, which had somehow made its way into the castle, was now lumbering its way toward the library.

The troll's heavy footsteps resonated through the stone corridor. Its arrival went unnoticed by the young witches and wizards absorbed in their studies. But the loud thud of its club against the library door caused them to snap to attention.

Harry and Hermione exchanged a bewildered glance as the library door shook under the troll's assault. Realizing the imminent danger, they quickly pushed their chairs back and took cover behind a tall bookshelf.

The troll, with its brutish and lumbering gait and horrid smell, pushed the door open and entered the library. Its breath was heavy and its presence intimidating.

Hermione whispered to Harry, "We need to do something, Harry, or it'll wreck the entire library and could hurt other students that might be in here."

Harry nodded in agreement. They had to act quickly but wisely, considering the troll's size and strength.

Hermione reached for her wand, but before she could cast a spell, the troll swung its club, narrowly missing her. Harry had his wand out as well, and with a quick incantation, he sent a Petrificus Totalus spell toward the troll. The spell, however, seemed to have little effect on the massive creature.

"Trolls are resistant to spells!" Hermione cried. "We'll need to put more power into them." She gasped at the attention of the troll…

The troll turned toward Harry and Hermione, its gaze filled with fury. It raised its club, ready to strike. The two students dived behind another bookshelf, avoiding the blow. The impact sent books flying and caused the bookshelf to crash to the ground.

Hermione, shaken but determined, whispered to Harry, "We need to work together. If Petrificus Totalus didn't work, maybe we should try something else."

Harry nodded and, with a flick of his wand, cast a Levicorpus spell to try to immobilize the troll. But once again, the spell had minimal effect. The troll stumbled for a moment but quickly regained its footing.

The troll approached them, and Hermione thought quickly. "Let's try something stronger. Incarcerous!"

A multitude of ropes shot from Hermione's wand, attempting to bind the troll's limbs. Some of the ropes wrapped around the troll's arms and legs, restricting its movement slightly. It roared in frustration and pain.

Harry seized the opportunity. He cast a Full Body-Bind Curse at the troll, aiming to paralyze it. This time, the spell was more successful. The troll's movements slowed, and its roar became a strained growl as it struggled against the magical bonds.

Hermione followed up with a well-aimed Stupefy spell, sending a bolt of light toward the troll. The spell struck the creature's eye, and it swayed before falling to the ground, unconscious.

Breathing heavily, Harry and Hermione approached the downed troll. They had managed to subdue it, but they knew it was only a temporary solution. They needed help from the teachers to ensure the troll was safely removed from the library.

As they waited for the professors to arrive, Hermione looked at Harry with a mixture of relief and admiration. "We did it, Harry."

Harry grinned, feeling proud of their teamwork. "Yeah, we did. Now let's make sure no one else gets hurt."

They stood guard over the unconscious troll, knowing that once the teachers arrived, they could get back to their studies and safety would be restored to the library.
