Indoctrination, Education, and Remembrance
December 1939
Bavaria, Germanic Reich
Bad Tölz
As Esdeath looks out of the window, seeing the snowfall by. She can't help but believe how time flew by in an instant. In May she was speaking with Hitler and his inner circle, and now, she is in the SS Junker School in southern Bavaria. For months Esdeath has learned more about the German Reich and its enemies all around. Reading daily the newspaper that is sent out to her in order to not only catch up with current events but also become more knowledgeable of her surroundings. During her ten-week education on the basics of grammar, Esdeath quickly accelerated to the point where she can have conversations and read at a higher education level. Learning and refining from the culture of her surroundings. Quickly gaining skills in rhetoric, debate, pragmaticism, and other fields in academia. She avoided becoming a complete shut-in, desiring for battle, but still learned enough to where she can speak well with the elites in the National Socialist society and the officers. But the real challenge came during her five months in the SS Junker School.
Esdeath never hid the fact that she was a woman nor did she boast about it. Becoming shrewd in her education, she has come to understand much about the SS and its organization. Learning the basics of terrain reading, military maneuvers, police education, weapons education, combat engineering, and automobile mechanics. In her physical education, she placed herself in the tenth percentile of her class. Her educators did try to persuade her to join the SS Main Economic and Administrative Office route, that way she can get a cozy job and can graduate at the five-month mark instead of having to do an extra couple of months to join the Waffen-SS as a commissioned officer, but Esdeath never prided herself in simple administrative work. She much rather be a part of the Waffen-SS and fight on the front lines rather than the Allegemine or the other branches as a police officer or a secretary. But they still nonetheless try to hold Esdeath in high standing. Even Goebbels, on a few occasions, attempted to record her to be used as propaganda material but the time for that isn't appropriate.
Esdeath sighs in her room. During her time, she has taken up the hobby of journaling her day-to-day experiences. "My commission is before the Christmas holiday, and I get to fully be part of the Waffen-SS as an Obersturmführerin (f. First Lieutenant) leading my own troops. I did enjoy my time here, despite the ire of others around me, but who cares." Esdeath looks at the books she has read, all party approved. She looks at the most notable of them all, Mein Kampf. "I can't believe that this simple book got me some looks. Not only about my body, but also the evil eyes of others." She opens Mein Kampf to the first page. "Right, it was signed by the Führer himself. I know for a fact that they would've treated this book with some respect and reverence. But to me, a book is just a book. No matter who signs it."
Esdeath lays down on her bed looking at the ceiling in her single-person room. "Though Göring has put me through this, I should still thank him though for the time to train. But something still bugs me." Esdeath looks forward. "That man made me miss such a good opportunity to show off my power. Especially against the Poles. If I were there, we could've taken the entire country of Poland, destroyed the Polish Army, and even raised the swastika over Warsaw before the Red Army could've entered the Polish border. But I'm still stuck here." Esdeath sighs and complains. "Now we are in a non-aggression alliance with the Soviet Union and are now at war with France and Britain. Depending on how things go, this might actually end up like in the last war they were in."
Esdeath stands up and moves around stretching. She looks in the mirror and takes a close look at her features. She noticed that throughout her time in the SS Junker School her hair was the only one that was blue, while everyone else was either a shade of black, brown, or blonde. But one question she attempts tries to get her head around is the idea of Aryanism. She grabs the book Mein Kampf and stacks it in line with the other books given to her for her studies to be a part of the SS. "Aryanism. *Sigh* The idea of a master race of blonde hair and blue-eyed people that stands above the rest. Especially those that are the inferior races, like Slavs and Jews." Esdeath ponders the statement of Aryanism. "Hm, sounds like a good concept, but to me, I much prefer to have anyone that is able to prove their worth against me, or serve me well. No matter the race or color." Esdeath, though being indoctrinated with the idea of Aryanism, still prefers the old way of thinking. The strong survive, and the weak either adapt and become stronger or die. No matter if they're German, Jew, Slav, African, Asian, etc. If they can't meet her standards of being the strongest, then would she care about if they were the master race or not. Esdeath then creates a thought. "If an "Aryan", as they described it, decides to become a communist or lean towards the left with Communism, Marxism, or Leninism then would that mean they lost their Aryan status and would be killed? Certainly would be an interesting concept to play around with."
"Funny enough, this idea of the Aryans coming from Nordic descendants sounds pretty mediocre. I fought against the people of the north, the Northern Tribes. Many did fulfill Himmler and the party's dream of Aryanism without knowing what it is, but they all fell so quickly to me. Those people were weak against me and the Empire, so what makes the people here or the "Aryan" any better? I swear, these people just have the loftiest dreams that would simply be frozen and crushed by me." Esdeath taunts, being aware that she might be listened to by agents of the Reich. "On top of that. These "Aryan" families are supposed to have at least four children minimum in the SS. Makes sense for an administrative worker, but not much if you're on the frontlines. It's also annoying to be getting constantly asked out by these lower men of the SS. If Himmler wants me to have children soon, then I would much rather save it for my true love. Tatsumi." Esdeath looks out of the window longing for Tatsumi once again. "If need be, then I guess I will keep myself chaste until I can find my Tatsumi once again," Esdeath speaks under her breath. As she looks out of the window she can almost create a picture of Tatsumi's face.
Barely making out Tatsumi's face in the window makes her reminisce about the time she had spent with him. "Ah, Tatsumi. How I long to reunite with you in the future. I assumed that with death, we'd be together. But alas, that is not to happen." Esdeath reminisces her time with Tatsumi. From first seeing him on the platform beating all of his opponents, him being in the Jaeger reserves, to their reunion and the day they spent on the island. Yet to their sudden reunion when she learned the truth about him, his involvement with Night Raid. "Yet, I will make you mine Tatsumi. I will find you, even if you reincarnate in this damned world, I will find you and make you mine for all eternity!" Esdeath gleefully and sadistically smiles. "Yes, even if I'm at old age, I will find you and you will be either my husband or pet." Esdeath chuckles. Then as she looks closely at the window, she can also make out another face, Akame's.
"Akame. Hm, that woman practically ruined everything, but I still in some way respect her." Esdeath stands up and walks to the window, placing her right hand on the window sill and the window slowly begins to frost. "Here this Akame. When I find you in this world, I will make sure that you will never stand in between the way of me and my ambitions. I will get my revenge on you, Akame!" Esdeath's soft chuckles turn into a brief stint of sadistic laughter. "Now then, once I am done here, I will become the strongest in this world. And no man would stop me." Esdeath talks softly, being cautious to not speak too loud, lest the SD would hear her.
10 March 1940
Bavaria, Greater Germanic Reich
After the commission ceremony, the SS Junker welcomes all their new SS officers in December. Many of the new SS officers decide to join the Waffen-SS. Some would stay in the school for a few more months to hone their skills in leadership as well as other skills. Others who have families and young children decide to go the more administrative route and join the Allgemeine SS. Yet, those who are ambitious for control over others and aren't afraid of the horrors of what a man can do to another fellow man decide to join the SS-Totenkopfverbände, the Death's Head Unit, to run and administer the concentration camps of the Reich.
Esdeath on the other hand graduates and is given a commission of Haputsturmführerin (f. Captain). Esdeath is pleased and delighted to be given the highest rank possible that can be allotted to her by the SS. She knows that being at the rank of a senior field grade officer is great for her but catches the envy of others who are only given Untersturmführer commissions (m. Second Lieutenant). But she digresses as she decides to move on and hone her skills in not only the rifle but also her Imperial Arms. She prays that she can use her Imperial Arms once more in the future so that she can show to the world, not only the power she wields but also the power of the Reich.
As Esdeath rests up after the ceremony and the marches, playing to the tunes of many Prussian and Imperial German songs that were played during the reign of the Kaiser while also playing newer marching songs created by the members of the National Socialist Party. Esdeath now wears the field grey service dress uniform of the Waffen-SS. Long ago she has put away her old Empire general uniform. She now wears her new uniform of the SS with a field grey skirt instead of pants, long enough that it reaches the knees, black stockings, and black jackboots that are knee-high length and high-heeled. She also wears the standard SS M34 officers tunic that is modified to fit her body size but in her closet, she also has the M36 tunic that closes at the neck, all with her respective rank. She also has the same pair of tunics but in black but it's mostly in use for ceremonial purposes, Esdeath also has a pair of field grey pants, but only when necessary and only when she is sent to combat. On her head, she wears the SS peaked cap with the National Socialist Reich Eagle, and below it is the Totenkopf, the death's head, the trademark of the SS. Though she was given the winter set aswell, Esdeath never really in any way felt bothered by the cold.
Esdeath opens her journal and takes out a fountain pen, Esdeath then begins to write.
"15 March 1940
After months of training and refining, I think I'm ready to start serving my new Fatherland. I see that many of my colleagues in the SS Junker School immediately joined the Waffen-SS to be under a commander. For me, it appears that Hitler has greater ambitions for me, so he made me stay a while longer. I've managed to get a closer look into unit tactics and maneuvers. This is no longer the time of grand armies sanding at rank and file, with the strongest winning out. But of who can outmaneuver the enemy and destroy them, yet, strength is required for that as well. It appears that for my battles to be successful, I also need to utilize the usage of panzers and heavy vehicles.
I am certain, that with this amount of months in training, I'm going to have my own force. Though the number would be small and most likely an experimental unit. Heh, either way, I am truly looking forward to my first firefight against the enemy. Especially the western nations of the French Republic and the British Empire. Grand nations with the military and navy size to back up. Having colonies all over the globe. Well, let's see how long they will stand before they fall.
After much careful thought about my past life in the Empire, I guess one can say I was much freer to do what I pleased back then. Though my army was massive for its time, at around 45,000 of the Empire's 250,000 at the end of its existence, it was the most powerful. Subjugating those who dare rise up against the Empire, especially the Northern Tribes. But compared to the Reich, it is safe to say, in a one-on-one battle. The Reich could instantly win and wipe out the Empire with the Luftwaffe and the Wehrmacht sent in to sweep the rest. The SS of course sent in to arrest anyone who stands in their way, only to never be seen.
An interesting part does spring up, the nations of the world. The Soviet Union is the largest of all the other nations and can field a large army. But I've seen the news about their slow victory over Finland. A massive waste if asking me. But I guess I can sort of compare them to the Revolutionary Army from my world. Yet, if the two come face to face, I'm sure that they would team up against the Empire, and then the Soviets would simply purge them. Or if that doesn't happen, then the Soviets would simply crush both the Empire and the Revolutionary Army, as well as the Western, Northern, and Southern Tribes. But in the end, if either nation of this world appeared in the other, then it is possible, that my old world would be destroyed. Speaking of nations one has struck me differently, the United States of America.
Who knew a bunch of states would come together, and in almost 150 years would grow powerful. I thought it was a joke that they're powerful, but only time would tell. It appears that if you're separated only by two oceans then you can pretty much do what you like. But seeing now, I am starting to think that the US might be like the Empire of my old world. Well then, we'll just have to see what these nations can do."
Esdeath finishes writing in her journal. Then a knock on the door is made. She closes her journal and walks up to the door, opening it. Standing in front of her is a staff member of the Allgemeine-SS, a Sturmbahnführer (m. Major). He salutes Esdeath, saying, Heil Hitler, she responded back with the same motion. He then presents a letter to Esdeath.
"Haputsturmführerin,"
"Yes?" Esdeath asks.
"This letter is for you. It comes directly from the Führer himself. He wants to see you in Berlin as soon as possible. Keep this letter with you once you arrive."
"A letter from the Führer you say. Thank you Sturmbahnführer. I will collect my things and be out shortly."
"Understandable. Heil Hitler." He turns around and leaves Esdeath in her room. Esdeath closes the door behind her. She uses her left-ice arm to grab hold of the letter and uses her right hand to open it. She takes out the letter inside and proceeds to read it. "Well then my Führer, I guess we'll be seeing each other once again." Esdeath smiles. "Now, I wonder what the battlefield will have in store for me."
