Chapter 52

Dante's POV

After two days of travel, we finally reached our destination, the Valley of the Kings, in Egypt. The girls wore suits that covered the entire body and headscarves, Lok had put on a thin scarf to protect his nose and mouth when the wind blew very hard, he also carried a green backpack where he carried Cherit, who wore a scarf and glasses to protect his eyes from the sand. I decided to continue traveling light. The kids were leading the way with Lok leading us with the Saiperdex.

-How devastating everything is.- Sophie looked at Lok somewhat suspiciously. -Are you sure we're in the right place?

-Give me a second- Lok stopped and consulted the Saiperdex -According to the map it is just behind that rock. -Lok pointed us the way.

-Well, come on, there's no time to waste.

Resume the march. Lok was very excited and ran to the end of our tour, stopped suddenly, and stuck to the wall suspicious and surprised.

-There is a group of people.

I peeked in to see what this was all about. It looked like an archaeological dig. I also began to distrust everything that was happening, the tomb had been lost for hundreds of years, and they find it just when we find clues?

- How strange, it is assumed that such a discovery had come out in the press.

-Sophie, when did we have time to read the press?

Sophie glared at Zhalia and was about to start an argument when we heard a growl. Lok didn't seem very comfortable with the whole situation, his claws were stuck in one of the rocks and the hair on his tails had stood on end, and I bet the hair on the back of his neck, too.

-Let's investigate-Lok looked at me with hatred- I'm sure I'll meet someone. Do you think you'll be okay?

Lok nodded, relaxed as much as he could, and we moved closer. The camp they had set up was quite large and they had already excavated a portion of the temple and unearthed a considerable number of ancient gadgets, yet despite all that, and what he had told the team, he was not convinced that it was completely safe.

I heard the guy's whisper in front of me talking to each other. Lok was on edge, and I was beginning to worry that he might not be able to control himself. I noticed that Sophie had shaken hands with Lok and was stroking him in circles with his thumb, which seemed to calm him down. We approached two excavators and the one I assumed was the foreman. The excavators continued their work.

-May I help you?

-I'm not sure. We got lost, could you tell us where we are?

Sophie was clever inventing that lie. The foreman relaxed before Sophie.

-Of course, young lady. They are found in the newly discovered tomb of Nefertiti. We conducted a government-funded excavation. And you, who are you?

-They send us from the museum of ancient artifacts. We are… preparing an excavation for next month.

When Sophie started to waver, she flustered Lok a bit and decided to intervene by putting myself between the man and the boys.

-Are you the one in charge?

-No, but if you wait, I will notify my superior of your presence. I'm sure he would be glad.

I didn't like the way he spoke, or the way he fixed his gaze on Lok, who had chosen to back away. The foreman left and entered one of the stores, I only had to wish that everything went well, or take the whole team out in one piece.

Dante end POV

Zhalia's POV

-What an unpleasant man- I agreed with Sophie, this man did not work for the government or as a joke.

-Yes, I would not like to meet him in a dark alley or illuminated. -Lok was becoming more and more nervous.

-Dante, do you think they work for the government?

-No, but we don't have many options.

-It's very easy Zhalia, if they send us monsters it will be clear that they don't work for the government.- Lok sniffed the air a bit.-Guys, here it smells like death.

Lok was prepared to run away at any moment, or to attack, he hadn't quite gotten it yet. Although I was also prepared to leave, if what Lok said was true it could only be two things, either they were bad people and had a corpse hidden around here, or they were from the Organization and there was a zombie, and the only zombie that was in the Organization was my father. Please let there be a corpse, I was not prepared to face Claus. I had made a decision about what to do with my life, but I hadn't told anyone about it, and meeting Claus would make it very difficult for me to sabotage my Organization mission, and I would have to be careful that Claus didn't find out about it that he was breaking orders on purpose, and besides, he would realize that I had lied to him when I told him that the boys were in hiding, and had not yet told him that we were back together or that we had gone to Egypt.

The construction foreman returned with a very sinister smile.

-Mr. Claus will be delighted to see you. Follow me

Why couldn't it be dead? Why did it have to be Claus? I didn't want to face him, I didn't want to see him, I just wanted to get out of here. I approached Dante trying not to look as desperate as I felt.

-Dante, I think it's not a good idea, if the information we have about the Organization is true, one of its members is a zombie named Claus. We have to leave before we give ourselves away.

Dante was left processing the information, I hoped I had not betrayed me alone, but I had to get out of here, and not only for me, but also for Lok, I know Claus, and if he sets his eyes on him, nothing will prevent him from capturing him, nor Even Dante, we had to go.

-Representatives from the museum of ancient artifacts, eh?- Claus's voice with his thick accent destroyed all hope he had of fleeing. -We seem to have the same obsession. Tell me, you're looking for something special-Claus fixed his gaze on me, and I couldn't help looking away-or specific.

I wanted to disappear, hide and never see the sunlight again. I hated that Claus had the power to make me feel this way. Luckily, Lok stood in front of me and hid me with his wings, he winked at me and diverted his attention from me, but the very fool attracted her to him, I did not know what was worse, that he would have noticed my discomfort or that it had been exposed that way.

-Well…, we are looking for some… things? -Lok looked at Dante asking for help as he always does when he gets into a mess from which then he is not able to get out.

-We're not sure what we're going to find- And here goes Dante to the rescue.

-Can you give us some information?

Claus looked at Sophie and then at each of us, though his gaze hardened as he glanced my way, though I couldn't tell if he was looking at Lok or at me. He started laughing in a creepy way.

-Very smart, but I think they know very well what they are looking for.

-Are you serious?- It seems that Dante had finally realized that we should have left when I told him.

-I also believe that they are in grave danger. Agents, catch them, capture them on behalf of the Organization.

The foreman and three other men appeared with swords like the Khopesh, a type of Egyptian sword, and if that was not enough, they summoned several tyrants. The first to appear were two Sekhmet, Egyptian titans. Some lionesses with grey fur with red eyes and sharp teeth, their weapons were two golden Khopesh, they wore a greyish green top, a navy-blue cape with high necks and a greyish green skirt with Egyptian details, they also have golden bracelets. The foreman summoned Ammit Heart-Swallow, a crocodile with a golden armour that covered all the leather and reinforced his tail, he had golden bracelets and golden knee pads ending in points, and he had a kind of Egyptian headdress.

Lok and Sophie were stunned when they saw the crocodile's jaws, and they cannot be blamed, it is a titan that no seeker wants to be around. Lok and Sophie were stunned when they saw the crocodile's jaws, and they cannot be blamed, it is a titan that no seeker wants to be around.

-Attack!

At the shout of the foreman, the men and the Titans threw themselves at us, separating us. A dark man with a red turban and a sword and a Sekhmet cornered Lok, two burly men, one bald and one with brown hair and beards, both in sleeveless shirts approached Sophie and me, the bald man along with him. Another Sekhmet focused on Sophie, and the Foreman and Heart-Swallower Ammit on Dante. We never seem to get rid of battles and problems.

When the man finally decided to attack, nothing else occurred to him than to try to hit me, I kept calm and concentrated, but I stopped all his blows, and in a moment of confusion, I put my hand on his face and got rid of him using "raypulse."

Lok was doing very well, when the man attacked him with a power that threw a stream of stones at him, Lok used "electri-shield" and avoided the attack, the truth is that he had improved a lot using that power.

For her part, Sophie quickly got rid of the bald man, the man did not have many lights, because despite carrying a sword, he only ran towards Sophie, who launched a flying kick in his entire face leaving him on the ground, now he just had to face the Sekhmet.

However, Dante, had been attacked by the foreman and had thrown him to the ground and was now strangling Dante, although he managed to free himself long enough to summon Calibam, who appeared with a kind of double-headed spear, instead of his usual sword. Calibam went to help Dante, taking the foreman off of him so that he would stop strangling him, but he did not succeed, Ammit the heart-swallower threw himself on top of Calibam with the intention of biting or eating him, I do not have very well what he intended. Calibam was quick and pulled out a knife and managed to deflect her jaws from him causing Ammit to fall on top of him and onto the knife, returning to his amulet.

Lok summoned Freelancer to confront Sekhmet, the titan, trusting, he did not see Freelancer's blow coming and took a good blow against his shield, fell back and crushed his seeker.

Dante managed to elbow the foreman in the face and get him off his back, and now they were in a melee, with Dante dodging his sword attacks. At one point, Dante used "nimbrefire" to jump a greater distance back and gain ground, and he threw a "Touchhot" to knock him down.

Sophie dodged the attacks of Sekhmet's, but she invoked Sabriel to help her, it is no secret that it is better not to face the titans melee, and much less if they have swords. Sophie had taken a while to summon her partner, but we weren't in a very good position to point it out to her, so she wasn't going to blame her, rather, I'll have to kindly remind her, since I must try get along better with her.

Sabriel shot down Sekhmet, who fled and stood beside her seeker. The agents repositioned themselves near Claus, along with the titan. We also take the opportunity to regroup. The battle had been short and hadn't required much effort, but I didn't have the strength to stay ahead of Claus, I wanted to leave as soon as possible. Claus was not very happy, and when I was little, I learned not to make Claus angry.

-Wow, you are stronger than I thought.

-Yes ... it usually happens- Lok seemed amused.

-Even so ..., I recommend that you give up.

-Are you kidding me?- Lok lost his smile and got angry.

-Oh, no, I'm a very serious man, all my friends tell me- he will be a liar, he has no friends, but he is super serious.

-Whether you like it or not, we will enter that tomb.

I like this Lok, serious, determined, he believed that Dante is a good influence or was turning those nerves from before into courage, but it was not the time, nor the right person for that new attitude. Claus got angry, his eyes turned red, usually after eating some monkey brain, as his zombie instincts are awakened.

-Since you are not going to take kind advice, come out Brahe!

The titan was made of stone, actually, it was a huge round stone with runes forming the body of it, another ball of head stone, it had a very large mouth. His arms and legs were also made of stone, he had a red Egyptian belt and golden shoulder pads for armour that covered his back. He had red eyes and he was too big for my taste and everyone's. The agents and the titan recovered from the battle, returned to the attack.

-We should go- I hoped I had hidden my desperation to leave, I did not want to seem weak to Claus, or the team,

-You should listen to your friend, here you will only find death.

Lok and Sophie looked at Dante for the final answer.

-We cannot beat them with a direct attack. -Dante saw the disappointment written on Lok's face, it was normal, it was the first clue we had in a while about his father, and it had taken us a long time to get here. - Easy, we'll be back. Zhalia!, we need to distract them with great illusion.

-Quiet, I'm in charge of covering the flight with the spectrum of thought!

A sandstorm arose around us, the Organization agents had to cover their eyes, even Claus was affected by my wonderful illusion. We were finally able to get out of there, but not before Lok had time to growl at Claus. I was able to get away from Claus, now I had to think about my next move.
