"Are you ready?" Esme asked as she helped me shrug on a ridiculously fluffy bath robe after I stepped out of the perfumed bath. At this point, my sense of modesty had degraded somewhat when it came to the Cullen's. Or at the very least the female Cullen's.
"Not in the slightest." I murmured anxiously as I ran my shaking hands over the warm robe. "Lets do this."
Esme chuckled, a light sound like a soft bubbling brook. "That's the spirit." she led me out of the master en-suit that was attached to both Esme's and Carlisle's bedroom. The bedroom that was currently set up with dress racks and make-up stations.
The Denali's were getting ready elsewhere, as were the men, so it was just the Cullen women and my human friends moving about the room. With all the bodies the normally spacious room was feeling rather full. I noticed that the chaise lounge that was usually present had been moved to a different room in order to accommodate everyone.
"Come, come. Sit." Esme ushered me over to a comfy chair that sat in front of a large mirror.
My ass hitting the seat seemed to be some hidden signal, and suddenly I had three enthusiastic vampires fussing over my hair and makeup. I had already washed my hair the night before, following Alice and Rose's strict instructions. The bath now was more to calm me down than anything else. Rose started to comb out my hair with gentle fingers, and her nails scratching against my scalp as she worked out any tangles made me melt into my seat. I had to stop myself from whining like a touch starved puppy when Rose stopped and moved onto the lengths of my hair. Once it was all brushed and untangled Rose began to braid my hair in an intricate pattern against the side of my head, and I could feel Alice copying her on my other side. Once they had finished they passed the braids to Esme who braided them all together and secured it with an ornate hair clip. It was white gold, with delicate filigree leaves and vines that twisted around little diamonds. Later, my veil would be attached to it.
My veil.
To go with my wedding dress.
Both painstakingly designed by Alice and made by Esme, and I would wear them both when I walked down the aisle.
Where I would then get married. To Edward. I was getting married.
Married.
"Breathe, Bella." Rose murmured from her place at my side. I hadn't even noticed that my breathing had increased along with my heart-rate.
My eyes flickered to my human friends, who were busy giggling as they got ready, Alice was with them now, helping with their hair and makeup. Satisfied that they wouldn't hear me, also satisfied that the boys were getting ready in Rose and Emmett's newly renovated house in the servant's quarters and that Edward wouldn't hear my shameful, shameful question. "Do you think this is the right thing to do?" I whispered.
"Do you?" Rose countered as she fiddled with the makeup on the table in front of me. Nothing gave away the fact we were talking.
"Not helpful." I muttered petulantly. "I mean… we're mates. I love Edward. But like… how do you even be someone's wife?" I whispered the word as if it were some foreign concept, totally alien to me.
Rose could barely stifle her laughter, and Esme and Alice were no better as they managed to find some humour in my suffering.
"I'm serious." I hissed.
"It's not all that different than what you and Edward have now, unless…" Rose paused as she turned and smirked at me playfully, "Unless you're asking for advice for your wedding night? I could suggest several positions-"
"No!" I hissed and then winced and quickly checked to see if Jess and Angela had noticed my outburst. Apparently safe I sighed and slumped down in my seat.
"Don't slouch, dear." Esme chided fondly with a gentle pat to the side of my arm. I straightened myself back up and blinked up at Rose as she held a makeup brush in her hand.
"Maybe later?" I whispered shyly.
"Sure thing, sweetheart." Rose smiled as she began to gently brush the makeup over my cheekbones.
Fifteen later and Esme was still fussing with my hair, pinning it back in places to make sure the braids would stay put throughout the evening. Rosalie was still gently dusting my cheeks with makeup – she had gone through three different products and I wasn't entirely sure what they all were – and I prematurely blushed in anticipation of my question. Rose's lips twitched in amusement as she noticed the discolouration. "So uh… you said you had some advice?" I murmured shyly.
"What did you want to know?" Rose asked, "Close your eyes." she instructed as she held up a smaller brush.
I did as I was told, and it made asking my questions easier. "You mentioned something about… positions?"
"Hmm…" Rose hummed thoughtfully as she brushed some colour over my eyelids. "Open." she instructed and I blinked my eyes open obediently. "I would recommend you being on top for the first time." Rose suggested quietly.
I nodded thoughtfully, "Yeah, best to try and avoid any possible triggers." I murmured, quietly mortified at the thought of freaking out that badly on my wedding night.
"Not just that," Esme chimed in, "It's easier, your first time, if you're on top. It will lessen any pain that way." Unfortunately, Esme's addition to the conversion wasn't as quiet as Rose's.
"First time?" Jess perked up like a hunting dog sensing prey. "What do you mean, first time?"
I blushed further, much to Rose's amusement as I stuttered, "First time… ya know… having sex."
Jess furrowed her brows and tilted her head in confusion, "But you live together!" she argued.
"Yeah, on different sides of the estate." I rolled my eyes. "With both of our parents and all of his siblings also in the house."
"Yeah, but still!" Jess complained, makeup momentarily forgotten. "How? Why? I just…" Jess trailed off.
"Be nice." Angela hissed and Jess ducked her head.
I laughed lightly, "It's alright, really. I mean… we've done some stuff." I admitted quietly. The room froze at the admission before both Jess and Alice squealed and giggled and even Rose and Esme joined in with little titters of amusement.
"You gotta spill, come on Swan, details. Or should I say, come on Mrs Cullen?" Jess wiggled her eyebrows playfully.
I laughed and gave an embarrassed shrug, "Oh… I don't know."
"You can't just leave us hanging like that, how are we supposed to offer appropriate advice if you don't answer the question?" Rose chided playfully, her glowing amber eyes sparkled with mischief.
"Ugh! Fine!" I huffed dramatically, much to Alice, Jess and even Angela's excitement.
"Don't move too much, let me finish your eyes while you talk." Rose commanded.
Not wanting to go against a vampire on a mission I listened and did my best to stay still as Rose continued to decorate my face with different coloured powders. "Well… we've made out." I hedged.
"Obviously." Angela scoffed,
"Angela!" Jess giggled in delight, ecstatic that our usually reserved friend was getting into the spirit.
"Right… well…" Oh god was I really about to say this, admit this in front of my best friends and Edward's mom? Fuck. "Well, I've given him a hand job."
Jess bit her lip to stop herself from squealing, "Over or under his pants?" Jess asked.
I opened my eyes and Rose looked down at me, eyeliner still in hand and an expectant look on her perfect face. My face couldn't get any hotter, and I was sure I resembled a tomato, "Both!" I confessed, before erupting into laughter with Jess and Angela. Alice, Rose and Esme looked on with the sort of fond amusement that could only come from having so many more years of experience than us. To them, this conversation must be so childish, they had been married for decades and had plenty of uh… experience.
"What about Edward?" Alice chimed in as she directed Angela's face with a gentle finger so she could start applying lip liner.
"What do you mean?" I asked, furrowing my brow, much to Rose's frustration as she tried to complete the deep purple, shimmery smokey eye look she was trying to complete.
"She means," Esme spoke up as she came around my side to join Rose in front of me, she looked down at me with a warm, motherly smile that made me want to melt into her embrace and be surrounded by her warm chocolate vanilla scent. She cupped my cheek in her hand as Rose busied herself getting the next part of my look ready, and I happily leaned into the cool touch. I had long since become accustomed to the ice cold touch of my vampires, and at this point I welcomed it gladly. Well… at least I did until Esme said, "Is my son taking care of your womanly needs?"
"Esme!" I squawked, absolutely scandalised as I pulled away from her tender touch.
"Mrs. Cullen!" Jess howled in laughter.
"It's a valid question." Esme rebuked with a soft frown. "And if Edward has been neglecting you, then I will have to be having some strong words with him."
This announcement was met by further laughter, even Alice and Rose were laughing loudly as I sat there in horrified silence. "No!" I shouted, "No! Not necessary! There will be no words! Please don't!" I grimaced.
"Oh please do!" Rose laughed, wiping under her eyes as if to wipe away tears of mirth, the movement so fluid and believably human it barely gave me pause. "And can you record it please? For prosperity."
"No!" I whined, shifting in my seat in discomfort, "Like I said, it's not necessary, Edward does… just fine in that department."
"Just fine?" Alice said suggestively.
"Well… more than fine…"
"Come on." Rose said as she quickly brandished a lip pencil over the edges of my lips, only to be hastily followed by the swipe of the lipstick. "You know the deal by now, future Mrs Cullen, details."
I smacked my lips together lightly before I answered, "Well…" I wasn't sure to mention how we would bring each other pleasure by rutting against each other like animals, "He's… fingered me, got me off. But he just had my jeans undone, we weren't like… naked or anything."
"Shame." Jess murmured.
"Well!" Alice chirped as she finished off Angela's makeup. "I think Rose and Esme are right. You on top for your first time is a good way to go. Also just," Alice paused and shrugged, "Don't take it too seriously, do what feels good, and talk to each other."
"That's good advice." Esme nodded approvingly.
"Yeah, and not just for sex, but for marriage in general." Rose remarked casually.
Sure. Okay. I could do that. Relax, don't take everything too seriously. Do what feels good. And talk to each other.
It would be so much easier if Edward could just read my mind.
XxXx
Finally, after what felt like forever, we were done. I stood in front of the large, full length mirror and took in my reflection. My hair was beautifully braided against each side of my head, pulled back and mixed together as my hair fell down my back. My lips were a dark, matte red colour, darker than the colour of fresh blood. My eyes were framed by thick lashes and shimmery dark amethyst purple eye shadow that blended perfectly with the dark greys and deep blues. Bright white face paint crossed the bridge of my nose and across both cheeks in a stark white line, with little dots here and there. The white make up also bisected my lower lip, a bright line of white on the deadly crimson.
My dress was perfect. As was to be expected. It was a stunning white floor length gown. Sheer willowy fabric fell around the other layers of the skirt, it wasn't overly poofy but it did flare out slightly. The bodice was snug against my frame, the neckline was curved over the tops of my breasts and the neckline plunged slightly, showing off a bit of cleavage. The bodice was also connected to the two off the shoulder sleeves which didn't do much in the way of holding much of anything up. My veil was pinned in place, and flowed down delicately to the ground, billowing out slightly. Hidden by my dress I had on a pair of small, white kitten heels.
"You look stunning." Esme declared happily, pulling the smaller portion of my veil over my face.
Tears welled in my eyes and I forced them back, blinking rapidly so I wouldn't ruin Rose's hard work. "Thank you, Esme." I murmured, my voice breaking slightly.
There was a knock at the door, and I could hear my dad's steady heartbeat on the other side. The sound was as familiar to me as my own heartbeat and it calmed me down slightly.
"Are you ready?" Alice asked.
"Absolutely."
A/N: Short and Sweet. Hope you liked it!
