Chapter 6: Bejeweled

a/n: I was going to originally have this cover up until the end of S3E14 but I decided to end it on Valentine's S3E13 instead. Current intentions would be to get to 4x4 by the end of the next chapter. This being canon-adjacent, I will let you know now that I have included Britt's second senior year and their breakup. But, they are end game, and I will be doing plenty to make their time apart less painful but still interesting.

Track 9: Bejeweled

I can still make the whole place shimmer

The Troubletones lost to the New Directions at Sectionals. It really didn't see like the judges had an ounce of ability to see talent, even if it slapped them in the face, so Santana took it in stride as best she could. But it hurt. Her heart had been in that performance, as had Mercedes' and Britt's. She knew that to let Brittany heal, and though she'd never admit it, herself, she'd have to admit defeat and come crawling back to the New Directions. She wasn't going to tuck her tail between her legs or act like this was some olive branch though. She also had no intention of settling for swaying behind Rachel, and she hoped Mercedes wasn't going to let herself be demoted back to park and bark again. They were just as talented as Rachel, if not better, and there was no way Santana would stand for her talent going unrecognized the rest of the year. She'd finally gotten a taste of the spotlight she deserved- in a way she wanted- and she had no intention of giving it up. So, with her head held high, and with enough reluctance to make it clear that she felt she deserved to win, she joined Mercedes, Brittany and Sugar in the auditorium where the New Directions were singing to celebrate their win.

It had taken some convincing on Quinn's part. If there was one thing Santana didn't like about being in the Troubletones was never seeing Quinn. With Quinn off the Cheerios and in a different Glee club, she was basically the enemy, and she did miss her best friend- besides Brittany of course. So while they were lamenting their loss- which Mercedes and Santana full-heartedly felt was wrongful, though Brittany, ever the diplomat, supposed it go either way- and Quinn approached, Santana was ready to listen, even if she said she wasn't. Mercedes was even more abrasive, but Brittany wasn't honestly just shocked going back was a possibility. When Quinn revealed that the Troubletones would get a number- agreement was undeniable. The spotlight had been promised. And so, she found herself in the auditorium. She was the last to rejoin the Glee club though. Sugar easily hopped into Artie's lap, Rory hugged Brittany like the brother and sister duo they'd become, and Quinn happily accepted Mercedes who had been there for her all those years ago, taking her in when her parents kicked her out. It was Rachel who brought her back, as it should be. Rachel was why she left, and that WAS an olive branch. The hug Finn gave her was just as necessary. He'd done a lot to her and for her, and forgiving him fully was part of coming back.

As much as Santana tried to deny that the Glee club was like a family last year after their devastating loss at Nationals, Brittany had been right. And coming back really felt like coming home. These people loved her. Sure, a majority of her family didn't, but her real family was the Glee club.

Best believe I'm still Bejeweled

Shortly after they rejoined the Glee club, Christmas approached, and it was going to be a rough one for Santana. As much as she tried to ignore how hard it was to have her family cut her and her parents off, the holidays only aggravated the issue. It wasn't that she'd miss going to the three hour long Christmas mass her Abuela insisted on attending (her Abuela had ruined their relationship with their current Church too, luckily Quinn and Mercedes had both extended invitations that would ease her parents) but the holiday party with every Lopez that could gather together in winter was tradition. It was no surprise when they were forgotten as longtime hosts in favor of her dad's cousin in Florida. It was closer to Cuba anyway and made more sense. They'd been trading it off with his cousin Javi for year, but now Javi had made it clear they'd been stripped of all hosting duties and invitations. It wouldn't be so bad if her mom had family, but unlike her dad, her mom had no siblings or cousins. It wasn't planned that way. She'd been the eldest in her family as a child in Mexico, but her parents sent her to the states for college. It had always been their intention for her younger siblings to follow her, but tragedy struck. Her father died when he got caught in the crossfire of a gang shooting, and her mother died of a broken heart. Her siblings, all under eighteen, went to her Tia and Tio who hated the United States. Any other family she had felt similarly, that her being in the states was a betrayal. When she and Hector got married she got citizenship since he'd become a citizen at eighteen, eight years earlier. She rarely heard from her family, but last she heard her youngest two siblings had joined gangs and quickly lost their lives for it and her other two siblings had taken over the family business. But they'd always had the Lopez family. Santana ruined that. And, as much as her parents didn't blame her, never wanted her to feel guilty for her truth, she did. It wasn't only her who received angry Facebook messages and letters, her parents did too. She saw her mother's heart broken as her sibling in laws turned on her the way her own blood had so many years ago. The Lopez house was somber this holiday season, and Santana couldn't help but to blame herself.

"Santana" Brittany nudged her "You're not allowed to frown during the Christmas season." She sat at the Pierce kitchen table, ignoring her parents who hadn't even put up the nativity to try and get into the Christmas spirit. It clearly hadn't worked.

"Sorry Britt-Britt" Santana grabbed another cookie to decorate "I'm just not feeling the Christmas spirit this year. It'll just be me and my moping parents in our big house all alone."

"I wish you could come with us…" Brittany put the finishing touch on their gingerbread wives, whose boobs were highly over-exaggerated. "I'll call you every day."

"It's okay B, my family didn't have to be this awful. It just makes me wish that I'd…I don't know, not come out? Stupid Finn, stupid Salazar, stupid commercial…" Santana accidentally crushed the cookie she was decorating, frosting covering her hand and crumbs falling all over her. "Stupid Santana!" she shouted, threw the pieces of cookie down on the plate and stormed into the downstairs bathroom. Brittany was frozen- Santana was always so careful not to use that word around her. She might be really hurting, but Brittany was having trouble controlling her own emotions at the moment.

"Brittany?" Lily piped up quietly. Brittany almost forgot she was there. She looked at her, waiting for the actual question "Why is Sanny so angry? It's Chrisrmas, and if you're angry at Christmas you're a Grinch. But you always say Sanny has a big heart, so that can't be. Are her shoes too tight?"

"Maybe Lil, maybe…" Brittany sighed "Hey, looks like we're almost done decorating cookies. Let's leave some plain ones, that way dad can do a few when he gets home from work, okay?"

"M'kay, imma go wash my hand and go through all the Christmas movies and pick one for tonight." Lily bounced off, going upstairs since Santana was still locked in the downstairs bathroom.

"Santana?" Brittany called through the door "Baby, can you come out or at least let me in?" she heard the lock click and she carefully opened the door and slipped in, closing the door behind her. Brittany sat with her back to the door, Santana in the corner. The half bath was small, and they barely both fit skiing there on the floor, but Brittany really was at a loss of what else to do.

"I'm sorry I said the S-word." Santana finally said.

"If you think that's what I came in here for, you might have a good reason to use it." Brittany sighed "But thank you for apologizing."

"I know that's not why you came in here." Santana said "I'm just not sure what else to say."

"You know I'm not very good with words either. But I don't want you to regret coming out. I know it wasn't on your terms, and as much as you might forgive Finn I'm not sure I ever will. He hurt you. And he used me to do it." Brittany huffed "but that doesn't mean I'm not glad you came out. We can FINALLY be together. I love you Santana, and I want everyone to know. And now they do."

"I love you too, and I love holding your hand, and kissing in the halls, and making out in the back of movie theaters but I lost my whole family in the pursuit of love. And so did my parents. My mom faced the same thing when she married Papi." Santana brings her knees up to her chest "It's just so hard."

"What about that person who contacted you from Cuba? Have you talked to her? Maybe she can make progress." Brittany shrugged "I want you to get your family back…"

"Papi has been trying to get through to Luis, but he's been very secretive. Says he doesn't understand why he's suddenly taken an interest in speaking to AJ. His insistence that Adriana is not gay seems to be pretty prominent. Mami is searching her address books, but so far no luck." Santana sighs.

"Did you send a letter back asking to talk?" Brittany asked and Santana nodded "You included your number and everything right?"

"Yeah, but no call or letter back." Santana shrugged, "It's hopeless."

"Nothing is hopeless. Especially not something done by Santana Lopez. Now, I want you to come with me and we are going to try and find Miss Adriana on social media." Brittany said and Santana sighed- she'd tried but she'd let Brittany try again. They opened up Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr and MySpace in hopes of finding Santana's cousin. One thing Brittany could do that had been Santana's main hurdle was access her family's friends lists. She'd been blocked, so she couldn't. Low and behold, her search would have been much easier if she hadn't been because AJ was on Luis' Facebook profile.

"There she is." Brittany said "And there's links to her other accounts too." Santana looked them up, and hidden in her Instagram was her Tumblr. Only on her Tumblr did she go by AJ. And only on her Tumblr was there any sign she wasn't straight. Well, save for her short hair. Santana would never be a pixie cut girl, but if she was she now knew she'd be hot.

"Wow…Britt, look at her Tumblr. She's super out on here, but there's no last name or anything more than her age and the words Cuban Lesbian in her bio. Not even a picture of herself. It's a fucking coffee bean in the lesbian flag colors." Santana chuckled "But this is her, look" Santana scrolled to a post from the day she told her Abuela.

AJ-LEZBEAN: "So my dad just got a call from my great aunt and there's another gay in my huge family tree. I wrote her a letter cause I couldn't find her profile"

There was another post.

AJ-LEZBEAN: apparently y'all want to find her. Her name is Santana Lopez. She lives in Ohio and does show choir.

The most recent post had posted only an hour ago.

AJ-LEZBEAN: just got my shit Cuban wifi fixed and y'all found her! I'm going to message her ASAP.

Santana checked her inbox, and lo and behold she had a message.

AJ: Santana Diabla Lopez?

S: Adriana Juliana Lopez?

AJ: IT IS YOU!

S: Is it you too?

AJ: don't make me send you my address, the internet is dangerous.

S: just a picture

AJ: You wouldn't know what I look like

S: my girl found your Facebook

AJ: fine…

AJ sent a selfie of her in front of the internet guy who had major plumbers crack

AJ: my lie is very believable

S: look…before I ambush you I just want to say it's so nice to hear from another Lopez. They cut us all off.

AJ: That's ridiculous. You know your dad's cousin Javi?

S: the jail rat, divorcee drunk taking over Christmas? Yes.

AJ: yeah, you want to know why he's divorced?

S: jail?

AJ: that and he's super gay. He purposely dropped the soap.

S: you're shitting me

AJ: nope, found his ex wife and she told me everything. I was just trying to dig up some good drama about some illegitimate child but yeah

S: So that's why he never remarried.

AJ: There's other Lopezes too, I'm sure. Just already cut off from the family by choice or otherwise.

S: speaking of Javi, are you going to his Christmas party?

AJ: unfortunately. I know you won't be there. What can I do?

S: anything to get my parents accepted again. I don't give a crap if I'm exiled from the State of Florida and country of Cuba if my dad can have his family back.

AJ: I'll see what I can do. Say, we can keep messaging on here okay? I'll call when I'm sure it's safe but I feel like the Cuban government will read my texts. Sound good?

S: thanks AJ

AJ: no prob little cousin

"Wow…" Santana shook her head "I just got the juiciest secret!" Brittany grinned and they giggled as they gossipped about the Lopez family. That little tidbit of info was Santana's best Christmas present. The other was the video of AJ exposing Javi and all the letters and messages that came pouring in shortly before New Year's inviting them all to the New Year's Party. They got to Florida just in time and Santana got to meet AJ and a few other Lopezes who returned from their own gay exile. The only Lopez not there was her abuela, who so furious with Javi and AJ, had flown straight home to Chicago and threatened any other Lopez who wished to say godly to leave. A few did, but few of importance. It was shocking the power of secrets, after what happened to her, and she hoped she'd never have to keep one as powerful as that again.

A diamonds gotta shine

Back at school, Mr.Schue enlists the help of the Glee Club in proposing to Ms.Pillsbury. Santana isn't really sure WHY they always have to be involved in his schemes, but it is a chance to perform, something she wouldn't pass up. Even better, her and Rachel are given the leads in Mr.Schue's poolside proposal. Being put on the same level as Berry is a step in the right direction that doesn't go unnoticed by the Troubletones. Admittedly, it would've been nice for Brittany or Mercedes to be highlighted too, but it was still progress. Santana especially appreciated it, plus her and Rachel were almost as good as her and Mercedes together. Not quite, but definitely right up there. And they all could understand to a certain degree that their voices were the right pick for the song.

The Troubletones only remaining qualm was they missed out on Michael week, and they desperately wanted to pay tribute to the legend like the rest of the club had. It wasn't hard to get Mr.Schue on board. They had barely scratched the surface of Michael Jackson for Sectionals, in fact, he was even considering doing Michael for regionals as well. If there was one thing they all could agree on, it was MJ. He was iconic, and so, a week dedicated to the legend began as their rivalry with Warblers intensified. If the friendly rivalry between the Troubletones and the New Directions seemed bad, this rivalry was ten times worse. Sebastian Smythe, for starters, was scum, and for a second they wanted to steal Michael. The New Directions were no stranger to set list battles, but Michael was something they wouldn't compromise on. Not if they didn't have to. Certainly not to the racist Gerber baby that was Sebastian.

Things were going to get real, all they had to do was BECOME Michael. Not just perform Michael, but be Michael, follow his lead. And so, the New Directions and Warblers found themselves in a parking garage. An unsupervised Mash off was how Glee clubs handled things. Once again, Santana found her way into the spotlight. She was built for Michael, much like Blaine and Artie who were beside her on the front lines in the Jackson off. But of course the Warblers would play dirty with Sebastian at the helm. What was a fair fight of dueling voices ended in Blaine's eye being injured. This wasn't just a battle- this was a war.

As per usual, Mr.Schue didn't want them getting involved, but that hadn't stopped Santana before and it wouldn't now. She had an idea, a way to get Intel that would get Sebastian out of their way and given the punishment he deserved. With a small tape recorder taped to her underboob, Santana went to confront the Warblers on their turf. And she was a damn smooth criminal. But of course the Glee club wouldn't appreciate her genius. Usually Brittany had to fight for her genius to be understood, but now they were doubting Santana too. Apparently Kurt had a better idea, though Santana would be keeping a copy of that tape just in case.

Despite her method not working so well in the case of Sebastian, Santana had taken WWMJD to heart, and she was tired of sitting by and watching Coach Sue blatantly abuse her position and Mr.Schue make a mockery of her culture. She wasn't exactly a fan of Mr.Figgins, but he was pretty good at handling complaints. It wasn't that Santana had any intention of having Mr.Schue or Sue getting fired, she just wanted her education to be valuable. And she certainly wouldn't sit by while her classmates thought La Cucaracha was a good representation of Spanish music. To his benefit, Mr.Schue signed up for Spanish classes and brought a native speaker into the school to at least give the Glee kids a taste of culture. Plus he was a smoking Spanish teacher at that. Most of her classmates took the assignment seriously, the guys even did history when it came to their outfits. Somehow, even after Santana's hot as hell performance with the night school teacher, Mr.Schue still thought his matador outfit and performance was tasteful. Her reaction outed her as the reporter, but she made it clear she thought he was a great teacher- just not for Spanish, a language he barely knew. Luckily, he secured a history position. Santana hoped he didn't mess that up.

Valentine's day, and for Santana this was the first year she'd ever cared. She was with her soulmate, and Britt was the cutest Valentine ever, making her a Playlist. Mr. Schue wanted the Glee club to sell singing Valentine's, but after Christmas Caroling door to door had gone previously, they refused. However, the God Squad with their new member teen Jesus gladly would. Having grown a taste for chaos over the past few weeks, she wanted to challenge teen Jesus by asking them to sing to Brittany. It really was too easy to have some chaotic fun in Lima when you decided to say something. She was riding a confidence high, and Valentine's wasn't going to be an exception. She was going to kiss her girlfriend, she was going to have her serenaded, and she was going to take her home the night of Valentine's day to a hotel room for some sweet lady loving.

They arrived at Breadstix which had been transformed into the Sugar Shack for the night, Brittany looking as adorable as ever in her fish dress, her hair tied up with a red bandana, and a little heart just below the corner of her eye. Santana, to her credit, thought she looked pretty sexy, a black strapless dress that made her boobs look awesome was basically foreplay. She knew Brittany liked it from the way she basically eye-fucked her when she came to pick her up. Santana had to stop herself from jumping her right then- for one, Brittany's family was literally standing there, and for two, there was plenty of time for that later. If the God Squad had finally made up their minds about her song, then she knew they couldn't be late. She had a feeling that if teen Jesus said no that Weezy, Q, and Trouty Mouth would do it anyway, but she wanted to make a statement. After Principal Figgins enforced a PDA double standard at the school, another incident of the principal only enforcing his rules sometimes, somehow always at Santana's disadvantage, she was riled up. Luckily, it worked in her favor that teen Jesus said yes and she didn't have to light Breadstix on fire to prove her point. She knew the breadsticks were extremely flammable and would've basically exploded, but a waste of her sticks it would be. Just to seal the deal, especially because Blaine wasn't there to make his usual PDA with Kurt, her and Brittany shared a kiss at the end of the song. It wasn't just a peck either, it was a proper lip lock that Santana never wanted to end. Even when it did, it was only so Brittany could sing as Blaine made a surprise appearance. God, if Santana wasn't already dripping, she was soaked by the time they finished Love Shack and that's exactly where she was dragging Brittany too. She was done with Sugar's party- and Brittany didn't put up too much of a fight. Her sweater dress, on the other hand, did make stripping her down a touch harder when they did finally get to the hotel.

And we're dancin all night

After getting Brittany out of her fish patterned dress, things went a lot more smoothly. Dangling heart earrings were tossed aside carelessly, Santana's dress was unzipped and heels flew in random directions. Brittany could help but laugh when Santana had to pause to put her hair up, she knew doing it earlier was the right decision, though she knew Santana loved wearing her hair down when she got all dolled up. Sue wasn't particularly okay with it so it was really a rare occurrence. The Latina rolled her eyes as she secured her hair and pinned Brittany to the bed, effectively stifling the blonde's giggles.

"Yeah, I thought that might stop you." Santana smirked, "You'll be happy I did it later, trust me."

"I don't know, I love tangling my hands in your hair." Brittany teased.

"I left my hair loose enough for that, hakuna matata." Santana kisses Brittany softly. The blonde was on a mission to force Santana to sit through every Disney movie in order of her most favorite to least favorite. There were none that she actually disliked, just ones she watched less. Santana had started quoting them when Brittany accused her of zoning out during "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?". It wasn't Santana's fault that Jessica Rabbit was smoking and she started daydreaming.

"Sanny, focus. You gotta go on and kiss the girl." Brittany tried to replicate Sebastian's Jamaican accent, and after hearing that atrocity, Santana gained an ounce of respect for Sam's impressions.

"Okay, okay." Santana laughed and pressed a kiss to Brittany's lips "That what you were waiting for?" Brittany pulled her back down into a hungrier kiss as a response and Santana gently nipped the girl's lip as she pulled away. "So needy, guess I better hurry this along." The Latina slid her hand beneath Brittany's back, the blonde arching just enough so she could release the clasp of her bra. Brittany helped Santana out of her strapless bra as well, and they just smiled at each other for a minute. Sure, they were horny and ready to fuck eachother's brains out, but there was also so much love in the air. Santana didn't want to move so fast she missed it. She gently kissed Brittany's neck and then nipped gently at her ear lobe, uttering one last quote before her mouth was too busy for words.

"So this is love. So this is what makes life divine." Santana said ever so softly. Just as Cinderella had uttered it. She'd never admit it if asked, but in this love story, Brittany was definitely Prince Charming. Santana kissed along Brittany neck, her jaw line and along her collarbone, leaving a few marks that would be sure to raise eyebrows and probably earn a disapproving look from Mrs.Pierce before she helped them cover them up yet again, but Santana didn't care. She softly growled "Mine" as she made her way to Brittany's nipple, twirling her tongue around it, sucking on it, and even biting softly. She repeated her actions on the other nipple before kissing down the girls toned abs, having to suppress her own moan at just how fucking gorgeous her girlfriend was and stay focused on her task. Santana kissed Brittany hip bone as she curled a finger into the waistband of her panties, looking up at her with a raised eyebrow, silently requesting consent. Brittany breathed out a yes, and Santana pulled the flimsy material down Brittany's long legs, getting distracted by her girlfriend's perfect body again. She snapped her self out of it as she tossed the panties aside and kissed up the girl's things before blowing gently on her center, a shiver running through the other girl's pale body. She smirked seeing how wet Brittany was before licking through her slit. A pale hand immediately tangled in raven locks encouragingly and Santana chuckled as she continued to twirl her tongue around Brittany's clit in slow perfect circles before teasing her tongue at her entrance. She switched back and forth for awhile until a tug at her hair told her Brittnay might kill her if she didn't tongue fuck into next week in the next five minutes. Not wanting to disappoint, she went to work, using one hand to keep Brittany from clamping hers legs down on her head and the other to keep circling her clit. It didn't take much longer for the blonde to scream out her name and arch her back off the bed. Santana brought her down slowly, a few lazy licks through her slit before moving back up the girl's body. To her surprise, Brittany pulled her into a kiss.

"I love tasting myself on your lips." Brittany moaned and Santana swore that the girl's words would be enough to send her flying over the edge.

"Fuck Britt, you can't say things like that." Santana moaned.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of your little problem with my words in just a minute. Then you'll understand." Brittany breathed out. Once the blonde caught her breath, Santana was the one screaming, then it was both of them. They weren't sure how many rounds they went as they lay there on the nth round, lazily pumping their fingers, buzzing in the afterglow of their numerous previous orgasms. What had started as horny teenagers going at it like rabbits had slowed into love making as they brought each other to the edge one final time, lips meeting in a kiss as they crashed again. Yeah, this was love. And Santana would shout it from the rooftops.

I polish up real nice
