"Let's be friends, ne?"

The Deputy sighed behind him and Hawks certainly did not find that encouraging as the man patted him twice on the shoulder, "All we ask of you is try to give this girl life again," He began to walk out the room, "Oh, and don't worry your missions. She's more than capable of assisting you." And with that, he opened the heavy door with a little trouble and was gone out of sight as soon as he could be.

"Ah, this already seems to be toughest mission yet," Hawks muttered to himself before putting back the charming smile he had perfected, "Miko-chan, why don't we–" He stopped, seeing that the girl had relaxed from her defensive stance and was simply sitting on the floor, looking as if she barely even noticed him, "Err, Miko-chan, what's your Quirk?"

She was capable, yet the HPSC did not know what her Quirk was?

It sounded absolutely absurd to him.

Miko glanced at him, looking with a little more interest as she stared at his wings, which Hawks quickly picked up on and he spread them as wide as he could, "Cool, huh?" He grinned, allowing a few feathers to float around her face, "You can have one if you want." A single feather slowly drifted towards the floor with Miko's dulled blue eyes following it.

"So you can't speak, hmm?" Hawks thought out loud to himself, "Are you mute?" He wondered, blinking as a thought hit him and frowning when he noticed that Miko was now staring flatly at the wall, "Or is your Quirk voice-based somehow?"

Silence enveloped the room for a few tense moments.

"T-ta-lk."

Hawks jumped, turning to Miko incredulously when a quiet raspy voice broke that silence, "What?" He turned fully back towards her, smile coming back at full force even as her now frosty eyes glared at him, "Miko-chan, what did you just say~?"

"I can... talk."

"So you can," Hawks smirked, crouching down as he leaned his cheek against his hand, "So then, is Miko your real name?" He asked, but he was left with no answer, "I thought so." He sighed.

The girl seemed to huff and to the blond's surprise, she grabbed his discarded feather and began to crawl underneath the large bed.

"Miko-chan, what're you doing?" Hawks asked with exasperation, standing up and walking over to where Miko was just sitting. He stared down at the dried meat she had been protecting for a moment and it was obvious she was reacting to the Deputy and not him, 'What are they doing to this poor kid?'

Well, he had a mission to fulfill.

"C'mon, Miko-chan, I'm sure the top of your bed is much comfier than underneath it," Hawks sighed, but it sounded more like a whine as he slid down to his knees, "You don't need to hide from me. I'm the No. 2 Hero, y'know! I'm here to protect you!"

He flipped the ruffled bed skirt out of the way, blinking at what he saw, "Uh, Miko-chan, what is this?" He could only ask, staring with wide gold eyes as she looked back with a blank expression.

Of course, as a bird-like being, he would describe it as a nest, but it was more like a den more than anything else with pillows and blankets and a few items that must have some value to Miko, but there was one particular item that certainly caught his attention.

It was a sword.
