Very important A/N in profile
Interesting.
Hawks glanced down at Miko, not feeling even an ounce of tenseness within the entirety of her body. If he did not know better, he would almost say she was asleep, 'Is she used to heights?' He thought, closing his eyes briefly as he felt an oncoming headache, 'I need to phone the Deputy after this to get more information on her.'
And honestly, how could she be used to such speed?!
She was not screaming for her life or to be put down or anything of the sort!
The girl was just... bizarre.
A harsh flick to his nose snapped Hawks out of his thoughts and he reared back his head, finding his eyes watering at the pain, "What was that for, Miko-chan?!"
"You–" Miko's voice was still a bit scratchy from disuse as she stared at him blankly, though he swore he felt just a little hit of contempt behind it, "You were staring very – too closely at my face."
"Aww, and why can't I?" Hawks teased, ignoring the pain in his nose, "Your face is so cute~!" He expected something like a blush or even a light flush, but instead, received a look of disdainful indifference, if those two were even possible to fit together.
Miko glanced over at the building that was getting closer at every second when Hawks picked up his speed and she grit her teeth when she noticed the reporters and the paparazzi just swarming the entrance to the building. Her hand unconsciously went down to her sword as her breathing picked up heavily.
A noise escaped her as she was adjusted to one arm so Hawks could grab hers that was reaching for her weapon, "Yeah, I gotta agree with you there, Miko-chan!" He pulled her arm away from her sword, "I hate these things too, especially now that I'm going to be officially moved up a rank, which means more work!" He landed on the ground with ease, though did not release Miko yet.
"The only good thing about this is that we get to see Endeavor-san!" Hawks grinned, taking her long red scarf, blinking at the feel of the fabric, having never come across such a material before, and wrapping around her head until only her eyes showed, "You can breathe in there, right?"
Miko nodded, unable to do anything in shock as Hawks wrapped his arm tightly around her waist and pulled her tightly against his side while lowering his wings to best shield her from the suddenly screaming reporters, paparazzi, and fans as they noticed Hawks' arrival.
She could only thank the protective headphones she was wearing, otherwise a few people would have been missing tongues by now.
"Just ignore 'em," Hawks urged her quicker into the building and they were finally away from the mob, "We're cuttin' it close. It starts in only fifteen minutes. I gotta be on stage soon," He practically dragged the poor girl to a side door, knowing it was a short cut to the few reserved seats in the front row he always received for such events.
He burst through the doors off to the side of the large stage, catching the attention of a few, but no one Hawks deemed worthy enough to start a conversation with, "Okay, Miko-chan," He sat the girl down, making sure the other few reserved seats he had put a distance between her and the next seated guest, "It's probably going to be as boring as hell for you, so here, entertain yourself with these." Hawks allowed at least six of his feathers float around, causing Miko to pull her scarf back down where it belonged.
Of course, they were not only just playthings, but also his observers while he was onstage.
"And if you behave yourself, we'll do something you want, okay, Miko-chan? Within reason, of course!" He grinned, completely oblivious to the audience whispering, gesturing, and pointing over in their direction – including his fellow Heroes, who had never really seen him work with sidekick since he just worked too quickly for them to keep him.
Miko, again, did not appear amused as she slipped the headphones from her ears and pointed to the stage while her blue eyes flashed back with liveliness, "Oni wreathed with flames–"
Two of his feathers immediately pinned her to her seat as he began to sweat, "Be good, please? For me? If anything goes down, I'll protect you!" Hawks was not sure why she staggered back into her seat with those words and was only partially satisfied when she barely nodded, "Good, good, Miko-chan~!"
Miko glanced up, watching as Hawks flew up to the stage, landing in a flourish beside the flame-wreathed Oni– 'No,' She thought, 'No, it's different. Everyone's different now. Why is everyone different now?!' Her nails began to pierce her palms, 'PACK, PACK, PACK, PACK!'
