Frisk almost immediately started sweating as she entered Hotland as she noticed Lava below her and a large building up ahead.

"Huh, is that some kind of lab?" Frisk asked walking up to it slowly only to notice two monsters wearing armor, one with a rabbit helmet and the other a dragon one before she frowned and walked over before knocking on the door to the lab.

"Oh… um please wait a second." called a voice from inside the lab before the sounds of someone urgently moving objects around along with a sudden crash sounded from inside the lab before the door opened revealing a yellow dinosaur monster in a lab coat. "Sorry about that, I was just um… cleaning up something."

"That's ok, my name's Frisk." Frisk mentioned before noticing a screen with her on it. "Wait, you were watching me?"

"Oh… well, yeah." the dinosaur monster answered nervously. "My name is Alphys… Dr. Alphys, I'm the royal scientist here in the Underground and so I try to keep an eye one things…"

Frisk nodded before frowning. "Then you know why I want to go to the castle… why I want to see the King and give him my SOUL."

"Ye… yeah, I do know why." Alphys agreed. "I'm… I'm so sorry for what happened to your sister."

Frisk looked down sadly. "It wasn't your fault, and… at least pretty soon you'll all be free right?"

Alphys looked uncertain before swallowing nervously. "Yeah, we will be."

"Huh, is something wrong?" Frisk asked. "Can I do anything to help?"

Alphys' eyes widened in awe hearing that before looking away. "Oh… thank you for offering but no I…"

She looked down before pausing.

"If something's wrong I should help at least try and help so you're happy when you get to the surface… right?" Frisk inquired.

"You're so brave, and I'm so… I don't want you to worry about my problems." Alphys admitted uncertainly before pausing. "Oh, is that a cell phone?"

Frisk glanced down. "Oh, yeah… I got it from mom."

"Could I look at it, I might be able to upgrade it to help you." Alphys offered.

Frisk looked at the phone before nodding and giving it to Alphys who walked off with the phone while Frisk looked around only to suddenly frown. "Dr. Alphys, do you mind if I use the bathroom?"

Alphys froze hearing that. "It's broken, you can't and…"

Frisk blinked in confusion before walking over to Alphys. "Is something wrong, can I help you? You deserve to be happy when you get to the surface right?"

Alphys looked down. "You're wrong, I don't need… No, maybe you're right."

Frisk looked at Alphys in confusion before being led to the bathroom only for the door to open revealing an elevator. "What's down here?"

Alphys was silent for a few seconds before closing her eyes. "My greatest mistake… but you're right. When we reach the surface, they deserve to know."

Frisk closed her eyes hearing that.

"You need to tell her Frisk." Chara told her. "I know it's scary but it's the right thing to do."

"But she'll be mad at me Chara, and people aren't nice like you." A younger Frisk replied sadly. "I didn't mean to break it and if I don't tell she won't hurt me."

"Frisk, I know it feels scary but bad people lie and keep secrets." Chara mentioned before closing her eyes and hugging her sister. "I promise I won't let anybody hurt you, ok?"

The younger Frisk looked worried but nodded before picking up the broken picture frame and nervously walking into the other room with Chara where an older woman was drinking a cup of coffee before noticing them.

"What?" the woman questioned. "Did you do something else you brats?"

Frisk swallowed nervously as Chara gently squeezed her hand. "Aunt Laura, I'm really sorry… I accidentally fell and broke the picture of mom and dad."

The woman's eyes widened before she glared at Frisk. "What? Idiotic clumsy waste of space, how many times do people need to tell you to be careful before you'll get it?"

As she said that Laura raised her arm to smack Frisk across the face only for Chara to move in front of her sister and get smacked to the ground.

"Chara!" Frisk cried seeing that.

"Stupid brat, I told her not to get in my way again." Laura stated coldly.

"You're not hitting Frisk." Chara told her. "Not again."

Laura glared at both of them. "Get out of my sight. I want nothing to do with you miserable brats."

Frisk helped Chara back to her feet before the two of them walked off.

"Why did you do that, you knew she was going to be mad Chara." Frisk told her nervously.

"I know, but even if you think it's a bad idea you have to be a good person and tell people the truth Frisk." Chara told her.

Frisk closed her eyes before nodding. "Ok big sis, I will."

"Dr. Alphys… what's down there?" Frisk asked as the two of them rode the elevator down.

Alphys shuddered slightly at that before closing her eyes. "It's… my greatest mistake. I've been keeping it from people for too long and if you're really going to break the barrier and give everyone a new start…"

Frisk just nodded. "I know it might not be easy… but everyone I've met so far has been so understanding and kind. I know they'll be willing to forgive you for whatever you did."

Alphys looked at Frisk in surprise before frowning. "I hope you're right. I just don't know."

With that the elevator reached the bottom floor and slowly opened into an underground lab.

(Frisk has reached Dr. Alphys' lab and the two of them are heading down to learn Alphys' secret that she's scared to tell everyone. Next chapter Frisk will learn what Alphys has been hiding and will attempt to help her come to grips with it. As always any reviews or critique is appreciated.)
