WARNING, in twelve hours, the next chapter of One piece will arrive in France and will announce Yamato's final decision. For my part, I continue to take the bet that Oda will do as with Vivi and that Yamato will not join the crew (she knows where the One Piece is). PS: If someone spoils the chapter for me, I promise you there will be consequences.
Another series of explosions was heard. Standing perfectly still, Marco saw Mina continue to fire magic projectiles, until her weapons were empty. Her target? It was still Reiner, who had remained motionless. Not caring that he remained frozen, Mina flashed a psychopathic smile while watching him disappear behind a cloud of smoke.
Then, continuing to pull the trigger on her guns, even when they were empty, she finally laughed.
"Finally! I avenged us."
Marco still remained silent. However, seeing a figure through the smoke, he made a sound of surprise as he saw that Reiner was still standing. Stopping giggling, Mina winced in anger, noticing the same thing.
However, when the smoke cleared, the pair saw Reiner drop to one knee. Having remained with his arms folded during the assault, the young man had in no way sought to protect himself. And now, Mina's magic projectiles had done a lot of damage to him, while he was bleeding.
"Is he still alive?" Mina growled.
For his part, knowing full well what Reiner was capable of, he asked.
"Why didn't you do anything to defend yourself?"
Simply spitting blood, Reiner raised his gaze a little to them, still affirming.
"No matter what I do or say, you'll want to kill me, won't you?"
Uncrossing his arms, he extended them to the side, while shouting.
"Then do what you want with me! Go ahead! Unload all your hate on me and attack me! I won't retaliate."
Again, Marco looked surprised. Instead, looking even more enraged, Mina spat.
"You're disgusting."
" Huh ? "
"You are responsible for our deaths...and the deaths of our friends! And you dare to act like a coward and hope for such a simple death?"
Mina glared at Reiner angrily. Then suddenly, feeling like her head was on fire, she put her hands on her burns and started scratching at them.
"I HATE YOU! I WANT YOU TO SUFFER! I WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND HOW WE FELT WHEN YOU KILLED US! BUT I ALSO WANT YOU TO DIE!"
Seeming undecided, Mina suddenly ends up running towards Reiner, while changing the magazines of her weapons.
"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU, ASSHOLE!"
Again Reiner remained motionless. However, staring at the young girl, he ends up smiling at her, while murmuring.
" Sorry. "
" Huh ? "
At that moment, Mina froze for a quarter of a second. What did Reiner mean? Was it a trick? Did he want her to forgive him? Or that she spares him? Or did he want to make her hesitate and then attack her?
In any case, seeing her hesitate during this short time, someone took the opportunity to act and positioned themselves between the duo.
"STOP!" Moda shouted, stretching out her arms while shielding Reiner with her body.
" MODA ? "
"What?" Mina wondered.
Taken by her momentum, she couldn't stop while her fingers were resting on the triggers of her weapons. Surprised by Moda's arrival, she jumped a little and fired. However, intervening in his turn, Marco appeared next to his friend and took out his blades.
Hitting Mina's arms, he lifted them upwards. As a result, when the projectiles were fired, they passed over Moda and Reiner, before hitting a tree trunk. Hearing the explosion behind her, Moda couldn't help but tremble, as pieces of bark fell around her.
Not having the same body type as Reiner, she knew it would have killed him. And yet, she continued to face the duo.
"IDIOT!" Marco yelled. "Why did you suddenly appear? Do you want to die?"
" Sh ... SHUT UP ! " Shouted Moda.
Starting to cry in fear, she declared.
"I know...I know what Reiner did to you! I know he did horrible things! And I know he's responsible for the deaths of many people! But...But he suffers . "
" Huh ? "
"MODA, RUN AWAY." Reiner ordered her.
Yet, refusing to listen to him, Moda affirmed.
"He regrets what he has done and ... he constantly thinks that only suicide can undo his mistakes."
"Tssss! Who are you?" Mina roared.
Sheathing her weapons, she then reached out her hand to Moda and grabbed her collar, before pulling her closer.
"Who do you think you are getting involved in something that doesn't concern you? You say you know his story? My ass! This man...he deserves no forgiveness."
"He...He saved me..."
Surprised, Mina heard Moda deliver.
"He saved my village and protected it many times! Reiner-sama...maintained that no one told him how to behave anymore, he showed his true face! He showed that he preferred saving people rather than to kill us."
Daring to look at Mina, despite her fear, she affirmed.
"I'm not a vigilante and maybe what I'm about to say can be selfish but...instead of killing him...wouldn't it be better to let Reiner-sama continue to protect people and consider this as his punishment for all the evil he's done? It wasn't his idea! He was just a puppet! He was a soldier who had been given orders."
"So what?" Mina roared. "That gave him the right to destroy our country?"
Throwing Moda to the side, she took a step towards Reiner, before resting the end of one of her weapons on Reiner's forehead.
"I could never forgive him! Never."
Yet, despite the danger of the situation, Reiner made no move to defend himself. Looking him in the eyes, Mina seemed to hear something. Then, finally, she questioned him.
"Why don't you beg me to spare you?"
Still standing still, Reiner said nothing.
"Because I hope you'll forgive me, if you kill me."
Marco and Mina were surprised to hear that, but immediately, the girl hit him with her gun. Falling to the ground, the boy saw her again aiming her weapon at him. Still showing rage in her eyes, she scratched at her burns again, feeling tears forming in her eyes.
" ASSHOLE ! BASTARD ! I HATE YOU ! "
However, lowering her gaze, she confessed.
"I was like Eren...I had a lot of respect for you."
" Huh ? "
"DIE!" cried Mina.
A bullet of lightning suddenly struck her, electrocuting her. Startled, the other three people heard him cry out in agony. Then, motionless, smoke came out of her mouth, before she collapsed to the ground.
"MINE!" Shouted Marco.
Stunned, Reiner and Moda remained motionless. Then, finally, they turned to see a man sitting on a branch, with his finger still pointing in their direction.
" ENER ! "
Ignoring the duo, the 'god' just stared at Marco, as he affirmed.
"I only felt your presence now."
Showing a serious look, he asked.
" Who are you ? "
"What's going on?" Fullbody asked. "What are these monsters?"
"Pokemons." Chopper affirmed, staring at Weezing and Muk. "They work for Ener."
"Damn it." Jango growled, standing up with his face bleeding. "We can't do anything against them.
standing on a large rock, Getdatsu remained motionless, with his arms crossed.
"Divine judgment will befall you! You're finished."
"Like I'm gonna let it go." Jango roared, throwing two chakrams at him.
Weezing use SMOG.
An intense black mist was spit by the pokemon and Gedatsu was hidden behind. Breaking through the black smoke, Jango's weapons continued on their way but Jango was unable to see if he had managed to hit it.
" I got it ? "
In response, he felt his feet sink into the ground, while Muk had scattered his body under the clouds of the area.
"What is it?" Fullbody wondered, also feeling his feet sink into the ground.
Taking on his animal form, Chopper jumped back, before landing on a rock where he was safe. Then, seeing Muk, he took his human form before aiming his fist at him.
"Let them go." He shouted, hitting him with all his might.
Unfortunately, the squishy appearance of the pokemon's body managed to suppress much of the punch's impact. And the worst happened when Chopper had the impression of seeing his arm disappear inside the muddy body.
"AHHHHHHHHH!" he cried, starting to struggle in vain.
" JET PUNCH ! "
Coming out from behind the black smoke, without the slightest scratch, Gedatsu appeared in front of the reindeer before giving him a punch that the animal could not see. The shock freed him from Muk's body and caused him to crash into a rock.
" Tanuki. " Cria Fullbody.
Weezing use SLUDGE BOMB.
Spitting poisonous sludge balls, Weezing let his projectiles explode as they hit Fullbody and Jango. Falling to their knees, the two men felt their limbs go numb, as they felt as though they had been poisoned.
" What is happening ? "
Then, they saw the body of Muk appear in front of them before pretending to pour on them.
Muk use BODY SLAM.
"AHHHHH! The two men shouted before being crushed under his body.
" JUMPING POINT ! "
Jumping towards them, Chopper managed to grab them and make a second jump before the pokemon could crush them. Landing further away, the reindeer put his two allies down, before breathing heavily as he bled profusely.
"What is this shape?" Fullbody wondered.
" I can only keep it for 3 minutes. " Chopper explained simply. " We must act quickly. "
" We can't do anything against these monsters. " Jango retorted. "The fog-producing pokemon prevents my hypnotic powers from taking place."
"And that muddy monster is impervious to punches." Fullbody asserted.
"In that case, just switch targets." Chopper shouted. "Slashing attacks may have a better chance of hurting this slime monster."
Then, staring at Gedatsu, he assured.
"I take care of him."
"From me?" Gedatsu repeated. "Do you really think you can match me, stupid tanuki?"
Wanting to prove to him that was the case, Chopper rushed towards him, before jumping.
" JUMPING POINT ! "
Arms crossed, Gedatsu saw him leap towards him. However, Weezing appeared behind Chopper and started attacking him.
Weezing use TACKLE.
" HEY ! "
Already targeting the pokemon, Fullbody aimed his fist at it.
"Here's a present for you."
Muk use SLUDGE BOMB.
Hit by the mud bombs, Fullbody was ejected backwards. But immediately, Jango appeared in front of Muk, before throwing two chakrams. Feeling the two weapons slash his body, Muk winced in pain.
Nevertheless, a few seconds later, he managed to regenerate his body. Yet, growling in anger, he shows that he had actually felt pain. For his part, Chopper took advantage of the diversion made by his two allies to rush at Gedatsu.
"Where do you think you are? As soon as you arrived in this place, you found yourself trapped inside the Swamp Crucible! Your chance of survival is 50%. "
"Whether they're 0 or 100%, I'll win against you! ARM POINT !"
"Stupid naive tanuki." Gedatsu asserted, seeing him transform.
Then, thrusters ignited under his feet and he began to fly through the air.
" MILKY DIAL ! "
"What?" Chopper wondered, lifting his face up. " He steals ? "
Stopping in the air, Gedatsu flashed him a mocking smile, before creating a purple cloud between his hands.
" VASO-NIMBUS BURGER ! "
Seeing the attack charging towards him, Chopper quickly jumped to the side to avoid it. Unfortunately, standing in front of him, Fullbody was struggling to his feet, while facing Weezing.
" You little ... "
" WARNING ! " Shouted Chopper.
" Huh ? "
With barely time to turn his head, the soldier found himself with his upper body trapped in the cloud.
"Partner." Jango frightened. " What is that ? "
"Light as a cloud and slimy as slime." Gedatsu affirmed. "Once trapped in this cloud, there is no escape."
Feeling like his head was underwater, Fullbody was unable to breathe. Panicking, he hurriedly clapped his hands on the cloud to remove it from his head. Unfortunately, his hands slipped through completely, failing to move the cloud an inch.
"He can't get it off?" Chopper wondered.
"This stuff... It's like a real cloud."
Then he rushed to Fullbody.
"I'm coming partner."
Muk / Weezing use SLUDGE BOMB.
Forced to stop, Jango saw the attacks explode in front of him, forcing him to step back. Then, the two pokemons positioned themselves in front of him, in order to prevent him from passing.
"Get out." Jango ordered, throwing another chakram.
Weezing use SMOG.
Appearing around the two pokemons, the fog allowed the two pokemons to be hidden, while Jango's weapon disappeared inside, without its owner being able to know if he had managed to hit anything.
"Tssss! Never mind."
Running inside the fog, he affirmed.
"If I can't see them, it must be the same for them."
Weezing use TACKLE.
Spitting blood, Jango felt the pokemon hit his face. Taking a step back, he then felt his foot touch what felt like mud and Muk let his body cover him.
"AHHHHHH!"
Hearing a scream, Chopper turned around and saw the fog disappear to show him Jango on the ground, while half of his body was crushed under Muk.
" It's not true ... "
" JET PUNCH ! "
Jumping in extremis, Chopper managed to avoid the attack which hit the ground. But, already, the skies rising towards the sky, Gedatsu questioned him.
"Where do you think you're going? MILKY DIAL !"
Then, jumping higher than Chopper, he appeared in front of him, before clenching his fist.
" JET PUNCH ! "
" GUARD POINT ! "
Using his defensive form, Chopper tried to take the attack. However, he was ejected to the ground, like a missile, the moment the fist hit him. Spitting blood, the reindeer fell to the ground, the force of the blow enough to knock him out.
"I was...in GUARD POINT . "
Still staying in the air, Gedatsu then turned his gaze to see Fullbody drowning in his cloud, while his pokemons immobilized Janko.
" It's finish. "
"Damn it! I feel like my whole skeleton is in pieces." Shinichi complained.
Having finally been freed, the boy still followed the two women, while Vivi sat on Carue's back.
"It could have been worse." Robin affirmed. "The rocks could have fallen on you and blown up your organs! Then, internal bleeding would have ravaged your body, causing you excruciating pain until you died."
" Thank you for those tender words. " Shinichi said, with a dry laugh.
"Miss All Sunday! Now that we've reached the shrine, how are we going to find the gold?"
"Thanks to the clues."
"To the clues?"
Having bypassed much of the Absol territory, Robin had found another area of Upper Yard with a large amount of ruins dating back to the Shandora era.
Putting her hand on a wall, she assured.
"If this city of gold really existed, I'm sure the Shandians would have marked it somewhere or made drawings of it."
listening to the archaeologist since he met the two women, Shinichi stated.
"From what I understand, the people you speak of were only discovered by a handful of explorers, before ending up on this island! How do you manage to read their alphabet or understand the meaning of their drawings?
"All language belongs to a universal language." Affirmed Robin. "Man did not appear on the islands of the world! He was born in one place before migrating to other places! Nevertheless, before that, he had already created a language! modified, all the peoples who were born from these migrations have retained some semblance of this language! Some languages are alike! Others much less! This is the case with this one! Yet..."
Taking a book from her bag, she began to leaf through it, before comparing the drawings of an image to those engraved on a wall.
"We can see commonalities with a language used by another people who lived not far from Jaya! It could even be that their islands were only one, before a volcanic eruption separated them in two! With research, I might find out."
"Su…Sugoi." Vivi said, sounding genuinely impressed. "And you can guess all of this with just ruins? It's amazing."
Hearing him give him a real compliment on his skills, Robin simply smiled at him, before patting him on the head.
"I'll tutor you, if you want, Princess Wednesday."
Seeing her acting like a big sister, enjoying teasing her little sister, Vivi turned her head away from her before pouting again. For his part, looking at the ruins, Shinichi put his hand on it, while declaring.
"And it was to save them that you risked your life?"
"Huh?" Robin wondered. " What do you mean ? "
"Miss Robin...or whatever you call yourself...understand that life is something precious." Shinichi told her. "While the history of our past should be respected and preserved, your life is more important than any relic."
Just staring at him, Robin retorted.
"My life is insignificant compared to the history of the past."
"Are you mad? Even if these relics are destroyed, I'm sure you'll find a solution to know the past of these people! But, if you get killed, nothing can bring you back to life."
Staring at Robin, he declared.
"Life is more precious than any treasure! Please never forget that."
"Sorry, Meitantei-san, but I can do whatever I want with my life! So if she lets me save any ruins, I will."
" In that case, I'll arrest you. " Shinichi affirmed. "Because I would never let anyone die before my eyes without reacting."
" Why ? "
"Simply because the present is more important than the past! And above all..."
Staring at Robin seriously, he declared.
"I see it in your behavior and the way you speak...you say you're ready to die to protect the past but...that's it! In truth, you're denigrating your own life. But even if you think that dying is a good solution, I retort that you must consider your life as the most sacred thing you can acquire."
Just continuing to stare at her, Robin simply shrugged, before walking off under Vivi's surprised gaze.
" Miss AllSunday...does she hate her life? "
Searching the ruins for nearly half an hour, Robin's team found no trace of gold.
"This place has been here for centuries." Shinichi remarked. I don't know anything! But searching further seems useless to me."
For her part, sitting on the steps of a very old staircase, Robin tried to connect all the notes she had been able to copy on the ruins around her. Then, remembering the notes in Norland's diary, she finally retorted.
"It's not that place."
"Huh?" Vivi wondered. "Do you mean it's more on the side of the territory of the two pokemons?"
"No, the ruins of these two places belong to the same city! According to the information we have, the golden city should be here! However, something surprises me! Neither the dimensions nor the topography match! Norland seems to describe a totally different town."
Hearing this, Shinichi put his hand on his chin, thinking. Then, looking around, he stared at the ruins for a few minutes, seemingly trying to visualize what this place looked like 400 years ago.
Finally, scratching his head, to the point of tearing his hair out, he retorted.
"AHHHHHHHH! It all makes no sense! A sky island...a terrestrial island that was projected here...a city that doesn't match its descriptions! What else are we going to discover? A city disappeared who is inside the clouds?"
At that moment, Shinichi froze, as did Robin.
"Inside the clouds?" Repeated Vivi. "That's impossible! How could this have happened?"
Still, she was surprised to see Shinichi and Robin thinking in silence. Then looking under their feet, they examined the ground which was made only of clouds.
"The entire floor of Upper Yard is dirt." Robin remarked.
"Except here." Shinichi observed.
Then they looked at each other.
" You think that ... ? " Shinichi started.
"Yes, that sounds stupid." Robin affirmed. "Nevertheless, it makes sense."
Then, thinking she could find proof, the young woman left her place, before running between the ruins.
"Miss Allsunday." Vivi shouted, before mounting Carue.
Ignoring her, Robin continued to run, looking at the buildings around her. Seeming to make a selection in her head, she was looking for a particular place. Eventually she found it and faced what looked like a huge Inca temple.
"Here." She affirmed.
"Oh..." Shinichi said. "Where I come from, whole groups of archaeologists would pay a fortune to be able to study this building."
"What is it?" Vivi asked. " A temple ? "
"You could describe it that way." Robin agreed. "It was surely here that the Shandians stored the offerings that gave to their gods! And this place is proof that most of the city is hidden."
" Hidden ? "
"I understand..." Shinichi said, pacing around the building.
Then, coming back, he looked at the great staircase which allowed to go up to the top of the temple. Finally, he declared.
"There is no entry."
"Huh?" Vivi wondered, pointing to the grand staircase. "You can enter by taking this staircase.
"These huge temples are like pyramids." Robin retorted. "It is impossible to build them without leaving entrances and exits at their base! Normally, there should be traces of an entrance at ground level. Moreover..."
Rereading her notes, she assured.
"The time that Norland describes is much bigger than that. So either he is exaggerating his words and deserves his title of 'king of liars'! Or..."
"...the island ate part of that temple." Shinichi stated with an amused smile.
" What ? "
For all answer, Vivi saw Robin and Shinichi going up the steps of the staircase to reach the top of the temple. Seeing them do this, Vivi couldn't help but feel uneasy, as she wondered.
" Who are they ? "
