Chapter 32
Training Camp-Day 2: 5:30 am
Jiro, along with at least half the class of 1A, yawns tiredly but stifle it just as quick thanks to Aizawa's unusually energetic demeanor, at least in comparison to his usual zombie like slowness. "Good Morning, ladies and gentlemen! Today we will begin training camp to increase your strength in earnest. The goal of this training camp is to increase everyone's strength and with that, for everyone to obtain their provisional licenses. It is to prepare you all to face hostilities that are becoming more real by the minute. Proceed carefully. So Bakugo-"
Peter snorts, "speaking of hostilities."
Iida gives him a stern look, "parker!"
"All of you quiet!" Aizawa says, looking more to Bakugo who was charging up to yell at the American student.
He throws him a ball that the students recognize as being identical to the one used in the fitness test early on in the semester. Something Bakugo notes out loud.
Confirming it with a grunt, Aizawa then instructs, "Try throwing that." He steps away from the circle to allow Bakugo space to throw. "Your previous record, from right after you started school, was 705.2 meters. Let's see how much you've improved."
Ashido wonders outloud, "Oh we're checking our progress first?"
Izuku opens up his notebook, "Makes sense, like Sensei said, we're here to get stronger. It'd be easier to do once we establish a new baseline."
"A lot has happened these past three months, huh?" Sero muses in agreement, "maybe he can throw it a kilometer or something now!"
"It definitely is in the realm of possibility, Bakugo has recently been firing more focused blasts to give him more range in his attacks, wouldn't shock me if he's already figured out how to focus it on smaller targets too." Peter explains.
Which of course shocks his fellow classmates, "What? Yea I don't like the guy but I'm not blind to his progress either." He shrugs.
Accepting the rare positive comment peter directed to the resident hothead, the class focuses on cheering on bakugo as he settles himself into pitching position. He smirks, "Here I go… GO TO HELL!" He screams as the ball is launched from his hand by a powerful explosion that blasts wind into the crowds faces.
"Go to hell?" midoriya repeats.
Peter rolls his eyes, "You're still shocked he says that?"
Slightly annoyed, Izuku replies, "I'm surprised he didn't say 'die' like he normally does."
Peter looks down in thought for a moment, "Huh… you're right. Awww he's learning!"
Bakugo grins as he faces Aizawa, waiting for his new record.
The teacher holds up the device that measured the distance the ball traveled. "709.6 meters."
"…"
"…"
"…"
"…"
"… HA!"
"Shut up bugboy!"
"It's been three months since you started high school." Aizawa begins to explain, his scarf holding bakugo back from attacking Peter who's still taunting the blonde. But the brunette stops begrudgedly. "Through various experiences, you all have definitely improved. But that improvement has mainly been at the mental and technical levels, with some increase in stamina. As you can see, your quirks themselves have not improved that much. That's why we will work on improving your quirks starting today."
He grins maniacally, "It'll be so hard you'll feel like dying, but try not to actually die…"
The class shudders at the sight, which nearly made Aizawa chuckle at the sight of their fear but he was professional enough to keep himself from doing so. "Next…. Parker."
To many of his classmates surprise, Peter actually smiles. "Finally! I've been training for my redemption since the fitness test."
"You have?" Ojiro asks.
"Yup! I've watched every video I could find on youtube on pitching methods and throwing just to make up for my utter failure."
Izuku smiles at that. He had actually helped him to measure it with their joint training sessions they do on their free time. To help Keep his full cowling under control despite duress, Peter created a exercise where he'd throw a ball and Izuku would simultaneously try to keep up with it. So far his average has been 23.08 kilometers.
Peter snatches the new ball Aizawa offered, annoying his teacher but he was too pumped up to care at the moment. He gets into the circle and gets into an exaggerated pitchers position with the ball behind his back, his determined gaze fiercely glaring back at the horizon. Momo watches him with interest but notices something strange. It looked like something black under his sleeves moved a bit. Must've been his shadow. Peter rears his hand back, his leg lifted high above his head.
"Gotta give it to the guy, he's pretty flexible."Jiro comments.
"Yea he is." Mina says with a saucy grin. Jiro just rolls her eyes.
Peter whips his arm along into a perfect pitchers throw, the ball, unlike last time, soars into the air with incredible force. It quickly disappears from their sight and loses itself to the skyline. The class stares in awe and their jaw drops further when aizawa shows them the result.
"32.18 kilometers."
"32?!" Kirishima's eyes bug out.
"KILOMETERS!?" Toru shrieks.
Peter backflips in celebration and turns to Bakugo, "Suck it!"
The explosive teens blood vessels prominently rise from the skin of his forehead along with his blood pressure as a result of the latest hit to his pride courtesy of Peter parker while Izuku on the other hand starts writing in his notebook feverently. "32 is a dramatic increase in his record in such a short time! It was just before the I-island disaster where we measured the distance of his throw. That means his strength has increased by a factor of 31%. But how is it possible? Maybe as time goes on his body acclimates more to his… quirk?"
He continues to mumble but the only on who pays attention is Momo as she made the same calculations and after hearing Izuku's mumbles, is concerned. Normally yes one would be happy at the progress of their …'friend' but this was very sudden. She and Izuku both decide to keep these thoughts to themselves for now as Peter basks in the cheers of his classmates.
"Alright settle down! Each of you will be going up for a throw. The quicker we get through this the earlier we'll start our training. Up next, problem child."
Class 1B all stand behind their homeroom teacher Vlad, who in stark contrast to his students sleepy yawns, is wide awake and looking as grim as ever. The only other person to match his energy were the usual suspects. Monoma who hides his manic tendencies and energy beneath his cocky smile that he wears seemingly at all times. And Kendo the ever responsible Class representative/ big sister who's seen doing what she normally does, caring for the wellbeing of her classmates. Made evident by her catching Kinoko just as the brunette nearly collapses into slumber. Her question is unaffected by this action as she catches Vlad king's attention,
"Develop our quirks?"
"Class 1A is already training." The pro hero gestures his head for his class to follow him through a small path into the forest as he continues his explanation, "You all need to catch up. Last semester, Class A was in the spotlight. But next semester? It's Class B's turn. From now on, you're shooting to the top." The teacher promises.
Behind him, the emotional despair has fully awaken Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, as he begins to cry and curses himself, and by proxy, his classmates. "We're such disappointing students!"
"…You're crying too much."
Setsuna, another green haired hero in training and the only student in Class 1B's roster that made it into UA through recommendations asked, "Even if you say that we're going to develop our quirks out of the blue, all twenty of us have different quirks, so how are we supposed to know what we're developing and how?"
"Yea, can you be a little more specific? (Gulp) Sir?" Kamakiri adds.
Vlad grunts as he doesn't look back but answers his class nonetheless, "Quirks are simply an extension of the human body. Just as your muscle fibers break when over used but grow back tougher and stronger, so does your quirk. They improve so long as you keep pushing them to their limits, if you don't? Then they waste away. And during this training camp?" He turns to face his class and raises a fist into the sky in determination, "We're gonna break through your limits!"
He expected some kind of positive response to his declaration but to his annoyance, his class groan instead.
"Quit your groaning." He opens up some over grown grass that leads to an open field and his class gasp in surprise at that scene that their eyes lay upon. "You see them complaining?!"
'Them' being Class 1A. Each of them are doing some type of extreme form of training that the students themselves had not thought of doing. For example, Bakugo plunges both hands into boiling water , the burning sensation fueling his screams as he threw his hands from the water into the air and firing larger explosions than he had ever blown especially on a consistent basis. The goal being to expand his sweat glands and creating repeated explosions to increase the scale of his attacks.
Not enough in his opinion as he notices a slight decrease in size in the explosion he just made and yells "Damn it!" before plunging his hands into the water again but this time for a much longer period of time.
Todoroki is in a bucket of water of his own. This time though it isn't simply boiling but as he slaps each side of the barrel one by one with each arm, activating both his flames and ice powers back and forth, the water changes extreme temperatures repeatedly. The goal is to help his body get used to freezing as well as controlling the temperature of his flames. Sero on the other hand is mindlessly yelling as he continuously shoots tape from his elbows without stopping. It's unknown for how long he has been doing so but he is now falling to his knees so Class 1B can deduce that it has been a while. The goal for this bit of training was to increase the capacity of his tape while improving the strength and speed of the tape.
Kaminari is running his electric current through a large capacity battery to train his body to be able to handle large amounts of electricity although the students cringe while watching him fry his brain in doing so. Aoyama is continuously firing his naval beam, Tokoyami is horrifically screaming inside the darkness of a cave, Uraraka is rolling inside a ball downhill in zero gravity, doing her best to not throw up, to train her semicircular canals in her inner ear to decrease nausea. Iida is running at top speed to strengthen his legs and increase stamina.
Sato and Yaoyorozu are in similar boats as they use their quirks while eating food. Sato works out while using his quirk to lengthen the amount of time he can use it and Momo keeps creating little Russian dolls while eating to amplify her quirk and shorten the amount of lipids and time needed.
Class 1B can only stare nervously while Class 1A wail in despair and torture. Tsuburaba gulps nervously when the realization hits him that he and the rest of his class will be going through scarily similar training regiment as well.
"Oh man. This is pretty intense!"
Vlad King crosses his arms, "Operative types will raising your limits, maxing out your power. And the rest? You'll mostly focus on strengthening body parts related to your quirks."
The students shiver behind him in cold fear, to which he ignores. He as well as any pro hero can tell you, that there is a gap between school training and real world experience. Unfortunately for the students of class 1A, they were made painfully aware way sooner than they expected. This training camp will be much harder than all others because they all came to the agreement that that gap must be narrowed as efficiently and quickly as possible.
"Now normally, these changes happen gradually as you grow.—"
Aizawa takes over as he breaks away from his class, "But we don't have time for that. Your class has a lot of work to do."
The students are nonplussed but don't say anything. It may feel like an insult but the fact of the matter is, he's right. They haven't had as much experience dealing with real world villains as class 1A did. And experience beats talent every time.
Itsuka though asks the question some of her classmates are wondering, "But once we join, there'll be 40 students total. Can just six people manage the quirks of that many people accurately?"
The teachers already had thought of the solution for that problem , to which Aizawa points to the wild wild pussycats, "That's why they're here."
Ragdoll somersaults from behind Aizawa with a cheerful demeanor, "That's correct! Four kittens in one litter!"
"Your feline fantasies are here!" Mandalay spins into a pose right beside Ragdoll.
"Allow us to lend a helping paw!"
Tiger then rises menacingly, flexing his bulging muscles to further intimidate the teenagers. "We're serving up justice with our tails."
"Purrfectly cute and catlike heroes!" Pixie-bob summarizes as they finally end with,
"We're the Wild wild Pussycats!"
The only sound made in response was Bakugo's explosions followed by a "Damn it!"
Ragdoll, having finished with the theatrics, stands upright and explains, "All of our quirks work hand in hand to make this the ideal training experience . My quirk is called search, I can know all the info about up to a hundred people by just looking at them! I can find out their location and weaknesses, too!"
"With my earthflow," Pixi-bob continues, "I can make the perfect places for each person to train." She emphasizes her point by creating terrain in Uraraka's path, thrashing the poor girl even further than before.
"And with my telepathy, I can give advice to multiple people at once!"
Tiger crosses his arms glowering. "My job is assault through punching and kicking."
Aizawa takes back the attention of the class, "As you can see. We are fully ready to take on whatever challenges your quirks may present and break through them. Even if the circumstances seem unlikely."
The 1A teachers gestures to the last four students of his class which were Kirishima, Ojiro, Midoriya and of course Parker. Parker was seen hitting Kirishima with focused shots of his super strength to help him focus his hits to keep himself from using too much of his strength at a time as to avoid causing more damage than necessary to his target while it helps Kirishima's hardening quirk to handle more punishment. While Midoriya and Ojiro are hard sparring. For Ojiro it's to strengthen his tail and for Midoriya it's to train his muscle control and develop muscles in his body that traditional weight training wouldn't be able to train. It comes with the added bonus of helping Midoriya develop a fighting style that works for him, something that Tiger chastised him about after a quick spar they themselves had.
(small flashback)
"All you kids with strength quirks, time for Tigers bootcamp! You, you, you, and you! In formation!"
Peter, confused, asks, "W-what formation? Like a line?"
"YES!"
"Ok then."
The four quickly shuffle to place. Tiger stares at each student in their eyes, each one cowering away except for Peter who seems to be bored. We'll see how long that attitude keeps up.
"You!"
He points to Midoriya. The green haired kid points to himself with a yelp, "Me?!"
"Show me what you got!"
The other 3 take big steps back as soon as Izuku looks for support from them. He gulps but activates Full cowling. He closes his right fist as it surges with power, "Five percent Detroit Smash!"
Had it not been for Tigers quirk, Midoriya's fist would've striked true. But thanks to his pliabody, Tiger bent in an unnatural manner and delivered a very unorthodox 'cat' punch, that sent Izuku into a collision course with a tree.
"Seriously, how're are the teachers allowed to do this to their students!?" Peter yells.
Tiger ignores him, "Tha'ts it!? You left yourself completely open! You throw that punch like it would be the deciding factor of the battle!"
He picks Izuku up and plops him onto his feet while chastising him further, "No matter how strong your power up quirk is, you should never attack without having anything to follow up with or defend yourself with! Do you even have a fighting style other than putting all your power into one hit!?"
"well I—"
"Have you even thought of it!?"
"I-I have—"
"Then you've done so poorly! Aizawa informed me that your quirk used to break your body whenever you used it. Recently you figured out a way to do so without harming yourself but it's significantly weaker. My guess would be that you're strengthening your body to get used to the backlash of your quirk over time. But after going over the Sports Festival battle you took part in, I can see that you get desperate enough to go back to your old tendencies!"
"I did say that to him." Peter grumbles.
He watches Tiger chastise Izuku further and normally he'd have stepped in as he had before. But this time, he felt like it was deserved. And if he can be a little honest to himself, he was tired of having to always stand up for Izuku when he should do it himself.
"Aren't you gonna say something?" Kirishima asks.
Peter scowls at him, "Why?"
Taken aback, Kirishima stammers, "w-well cause you always do. A-And he's your friend—"
"Isnt he your friend too? Why don't you say something?"
"well I—"
"Oh that's right, you won't cause your ok with people yelling abuse at him at all times like Bakugo."
"Hey that's not fair! He doesn't mean it!"
"How do you know? You don't know him as long as Midoriya does."
"But—"
"But nothing. You wanna be a hypocrite, be my guess but don't give me that holier than thou attitude."
"Sorry am I boring you or something!?" Tiger yells at them, effectively ending their conversation.
"No sir." They both grumble.
"Well since you two have so much to talk about, how about you two spar. I hear you can pack a punch and you can take it. Go ahead then!"
Peter chuckles with a dark smirk, "This'll be cathartic."
Kirishima shudders. The way Peter said that, it was almost sickening to hear the joy lacing his words.
"And you two!" He points to Ojiro and Midoriya, "Hard sparring! I wanna see technique with quirks. Ojiro, you use only your tail to defend his hits, I want it to get used to the blows and throw them right back and you, Midoriya, I'm gonna show you a few techniques and I want you to implement them with your quirks, if I even get the notion that you let slip your grasp on your quirk then you're doing 100 push ups and/or one legged squats on the injured limb!"
(End flashback)
Tiger watches his small group of students go at it. Izuku thankfully, is following orders and sticking to the techniques he was taught. Peter on the other hand is pummeling Kirishima. Though the red head is holding his own much to his credit.
The voice of Mandalay pops into his head. "Tiger, Aizawa asked me to connect us three psychically. Obviously I'll be the messenger for both of you so I'll tell you what he asks and says and vice versa."
"Got it."
" 'How're the problem children?'"
" ' Midoriya's training like he has something to prove but I can tell he's still holding himself back mentally. He has so much self doubt that I believe is affecting him a lot more than he or anyone else realizes. And parker? He's a little different than what you've told me.'"
" '… how do you mean?'"
" ' He's talkative sure but he's damn near snapping his classmates head off. I could tell from the look on their faces that that's not normal. It's good that we have him training for control because the amount of power he's putting behind his hits. It's definitely gonna leave a mark, even with the hardening quirk. The way he's doing it though, it's like he's lashing out in some way. I think both students need a talk of some kind when given the chance. They may be under some kind of stress mentally.'"
"If I may add." Mandalay interrupts.
"I did notice something strange too. When I try to reach into his mind, I felt something pushing back. I was able to give orders but it took more effort than I normally do and it still felt like I was pushing through a brick wall. I agree with Tiger, something's going on with Parker."
" ' These kids need to get their head on straight if they want to be heroes.'" Aizawa replies.
It didn't leave the pro heroes satisfied, it felt dismissive in fact. Mandalay gently tries to make Aizawa understand. "Some things can't just go away on their own. Even though their training to be heroes, they're still children. And at this age, they need help. Sometimes that help is a ear that listens to them."
Aizawa grunts but doesn't reply any further. Mandalay sighs, "Just think about it ok?"
The Mess Hall
"Now remember what I said? We're not serving your food anymore!" Pixie-bob reminds them.
Ragdoll gestures to all the ingredients laid out to them on the table. "If you guys wanna eat you'll have to make your own meals! Starting with curry!"
The demoralized students hunch over in exhausted acceptance, "yes ma'am."
"AhHAHAHAHA! Oh man, do you guys look exhausted. But that doesn't mean you can make any old sloppy cat food!" Ragdoll teases them.
Iida suddenly regains his energy as he, per usual, justifies his teachers methods. "It is true that part of rescuing someone is filling the stomachs and spirits of those exhausted during a disaster."
Peter, who's still feeling as fresh as ever simply shakes his head. "You're ability to make these leaps and bounds with your logic will never cease to amaze me."
"Let's make the most delicious curry in the world, everyone!"
"Luckily for you that's a dish I actually know how to cook!" Peter notifies him.
"You do?" Iida asks.
"Yup! Chicken Curry actually. My first attempt almost burnt down our house but my follow ups were very well received I do say so!"
"We're supposed to pretend like we didn't hear the first part?" Sero asks.
"Yup! Now this is what I need."
Peter charismatically gets both classes to work together. He has a few people start to chop up the ingredients, others to get the seasoning ready and some to start the fires.
Ashido clangs the tongs together, "Hey todoroki! Can we get a fire over here, too?"
Bakugo leans down to one of the stoves with Sero and Tokoyami over each shoulder. "Bakugo, use explosion to light this!"
"Like I would scum!" He shouts and uses his quirk to light up the hand made stove, but the training must've done something right as the explosion came out much stronger than he had anticipated, resulting in the destruction of the stove.
Yaoyorozu watched the whole thing disapprovingly, "Rely on others and you'll never learn to start a fire yourself." she creates a lighter in her hand and starts sparking it near the coals, "We should focus on acquiring new skills."
Her firsts attempts were unsuccessful and so todoroki approached and crouched down very close beside her, "Here. Let me."
Flames slithers down his hand and onto the coals, igniting the flame. "Thank you todoroki." Yoayorozu says with a smile.
Neither one move, which is picked up on by Peter who's eyes narrow. They seem a little close. Why's she letting him get so close to her? And why isn't he moving away already?! His treacherous thoughts scream as they seem to have a small conversation together. The fires already started move on already!
"Um Peter, your crushing the spoon." Pony informs him.
Snapped out of his overly jealous thoughts, Peter realizes she is right, the metal had warped under his fearsome strength. "Sorry I… I don't know what came over me."
He holds the spoon gently as he steers the contents, producing a wonderful aroma into the air, to which Pony sniffs and smiles. "That smells so good! I can't wait to eat this stuff!"
"Yea me too—Wait did you just speak English?"
"Yea and you did too." She giggles.
"I did? Oh wow I did. Huh it's been so long. Plus I didn't know you spoke English."
"You're not the only one from America you know." She points out with a smile.
"No kidding! Where you from?"
"San Diego. You're from queens right?"
"Yup, west coast and east coast huh?"
"Yea but here we're both considered west coast."
Peter shakes his head, "I never understood that. At least in your case, you're much closer to japan than me so wouldn't you be considered east coast and japan the west?"
She throws her hands up in the air, "That's what I said! But every explanation had to do with something from history and it would bore me so much I'd never pay attention."
The two continue to chat it up , which did not go unnoticed. Toru nudges Ashido and Jiro, "Check it out, they're getting pretty friendly."
Jiro rolls her eyes, "Before you guys say it, let's give Parker the Benefit of the doubt, They're both from America so they have common ground. Doesn't mean they're flirting."
Mina groans, "I know but I still like to think so I mean come on, look at that."
They watch as Pony throws her head back in laughter as she lightly slaps Peter's arm, leaving her hand there for a few seconds before pulling it away.
"Ok that seemed playful but more on her side. It still doesn't mean theyre flirting."
Mina snorts, "Tell that to Yaomomo."
Said rich girl can be seen practically glaring at the pair as they continue their conversation. She notices that she's being watched and blushes as she continues her work. After a while the food is done and both classes begin to dig in. All of the make their happiness known as they devour their food.
"My god this recipe was perfect! Parker I'm sorry I ever doubted you!" Sero exclaims.
"This curry is legit!" Setsuna agrees, her cheeks bulging with half chewed food.
"please please, stop with the praise! (Keep it coming)!" He cockily soaks up all the attention.
All the while Monoma glares at the American, stabbing his utensils into his plate, begrudgedly agreeing with them.
Mineta slips through the tiny door into the dim space and calms his breathing, becoming one with the darkness itself. What comesnext could make or break the plan. He's run this simulation in his head hundreds of times, and failure at this point would send all the dominoes crashing down. Quick wits and coolheaded judgment would be key.
The wet ground beneath his feet is still warm, unwilling to give up the last bit of heat from the sun. Or maybe it was his own heat the boy felt, penetrating the ground. At this thought, a bemused smile grows on his face. It makes him keenly aware of his own nerves and inexperience, so he pauses to collect himself and control the heat radiating from his body and mind. This plan had to succeed. Even if that meant an untimely death, he'll welcome the grim reaper with a smile.
He reaches into his baggy clothes and very gently brings out a small hand drill, whose tip he presses against a spot on one of the wooden walls, at eye level. The metal ate away at the wood with a whirr that echoes loudly between the walls, but the boy did not panic or falter. Any hesitation now would mean he wasn't worthy to begin with. No, a life's worth of resolve had led him to this moment.
The feedback against his hand changes finally as the drill punched through. The boy felt the heat rising in him again, and he fought to suppress it. He reminds himself that this plan demanded absolute caution.
He swallows hard and places the drill on the ground. Body trembling with excitement, he presses his body to the wall and peeps through the hole. The view? A steamy open-air bath. The peeper? None other than Minoru Mineta, class A's embodiment of lust. The plan? What else, but to spy on the ladies' half of the rotenburo.
Mineta had been anticipating this day, this plan, since before school had even started. No, to hear him tell it, base instinct had prepared him for it since before he'd been born.
The female figure gave Mineta life. It was his reason to exist. A haven in which men could find sanctuary and solace. A home to return to, without worries or cares. But for Mineta, the door to this particular home was shut fast. He would pound away at it, begging to be let in, but security at the door had an innate mistrust of the boy. The more he pounded and the louder he begged, the more suspicious he seemed, until his status changed from mere "suspect" to "criminal."
But quit was not in Mineta's vocabulary.
Yesterday, the first day of training camp, was when he had stepped up to make his greatest wish come true. Purely on autopilot, he had attempted to scale the wall from the men's side of the open bath. The wall was actually two walls, though, and waiting for Mineta at the top, between the walls, had been Kota Izumi. The Catnip Inn was managed by the Wild Wild Pussycats, and Kota was the young nephew of Mandalay, one of those heroes.
The goal of this training camp was to prepare the students to test for their provisional hero licenses, which would permit them limited Quirk use, even if only in emergencies. U.A students wouldn't typically take the exam until early in their second year, but given the increased villain activity, the school had decided that this crop of first-years had better be allowed to defend themselves.
Today's menu had consisted of brutal Quirk training starting at 5:30 a.m., but just as those with sweet tooths always have room for dessert, Mineta had plenty of stamina left if it meant going after women.
In light of Mineta's failed peeping attempt the day before, the adults had seen fit to stagger the boys' and girls' bathing times. The boys of classes A and B had already enjoyed the baths that night and were now engaged in some other nonsense inside the lodge, so no one would come looking for Mineta. This was his chance.
Damn steam! Mineta cursed the steam to hell for ruining his view of heaven. Still, he could make out a few faint figures.
"Ooh, I love a good rotenburo."
"The perfect thing to rest one's weary soul."
"Mhm."
He analyzed the voices instantly.
Itsuka Kendo, president of class B.
Ibara Shiozaki, whose Quirk was "Vines."
Yui Kodai, a girl with a black bob cut.
A few more voices join the mix. Yes, Mineta was after the class B girls. He'd thought it wise to switch targets, since the girls of class A were on guard after his failed attempt the previous day. Mineta had a high opinion of the class B girls as well. Nothing lacking there, so to speak.
"Huh? You've got a scratch on your back, Yui," said Kendo.
"Hmm?"
"Oh dear. Perhaps one of my vines brushed you earlier… I'm so very sorry!" said Shiozaki.
"Uh-uh." That was Kodai, likely shaking her head as if to suggest, "Don't worry about it."
"Mineta could just picture the girls gazing at each other's naked backs within the steam.
Steamy actions began to play out only in Mineta's mind, though, as his fictional portrayal of paradise. Mostly, he wished he could somehow transform into a girl and insert himself into the fantasy. But no. Mineta snorted in indignation and composed himself. The actual women just beyond the wall didn't need any help from his imagination.
"Fwooo!"
He puffed his cheeks and blew into the hole with all his might, hoping to carve a path through the steam. Blow and peep, blow and peep, over and over. To Mineta, no effort was too much to ask for this prize. The blowing left him red in the face, head spinning, but the steam had begun to give way. Mineta spotted some bodies approaching and immediately forgot about his spinning head. At this rate, they'd come into clear view soon, steam or no steam. He stopped breathing and opened one bloodshot eye so wide it might have fallen clean out.
But then, voices he didn't expect to hear.
"Oh? There's a hole here…? Better plug that up."
"But first, a little punishment."
A familiar shock, as if from a pair of EKG paddles, penetrated Mineta's eyeball.
"Gahhhh!" he screams, as the amplified sound of Kyoka Jiro's heartbeat was transmitted into his body via his eye. They'd never take him alive, though. He could still run while they lacked any evidence of his crime. He toddled toward the door between the walls, but his pursuers were not so easily thrown with a sickly sizzling sound, Liquid ooze through the drilled hole and began to melt away the wall. Mina Ashido's acid worked fast, and she was just as quick to pounce on Mineta. It wasn't only Jiro and Ashido, though—every girl from class A and B were present and accounted for.
The brief exchange between Kendo, Shiozaki, and Kodai earlier had been no more than a ruse to throw him off guard, and the "steam" was actually the product of dry ice, created by Momo Yaoyorozu's Quirk to block Mineta's vision.
"Alas, we were right to be cautious," laments Yaoyorozu.
At her side, Kendo said, "Yeah, thanks a bunch!"
"Peeping is unacceptable, Mineta!"
"You're really gonna get arrested one day. You know that, right?"
"Ah, the little creep brought a drill and everything! This was totally premeditated."
As the girls closed in around him, Mineta gave up all hope of escape, and his expression warped in rage.
"Wearing clothes into the bath is against the rules!"
"Huhh?"
Of course the girls were clothed. No need to come naked to a sting operation.
"I don't even approve when they wear towels into the hot springs on travel shows!"
He didn't regret his actions one bit, and Mineta's perverted complaint lit the girls' fuses immediately.
"You…are…the fucking WORST!"
"The only one breaking the rules is you!"
"Oh? I'd be happy to strip down and show you the goods if that's what you really wa—"
A massive palm came swinging at him before he could finish. Kendo's Quirk, "Big Fist," hit him with the force of a truck, and Mineta's world went black.
A little while later, The Class A girls were relaxing in their room.
"I wonder when The teachers will finally get rid of Mineta, normal schools wouldn't allow this kind of behavior, hero schools should accept it even less!" Jiro growls, truly angry.
"I know we should always encourage our classmates to succeed, but I shudder to even think of what Mineta will be like if he ever becomes a pro hero." Toru says with a shake of her invisible head.
A sound could be heard in the night.
"You hear something just now?" asks Hagakure, curled up in her futon.
"Sounded like a boy? Screaming, maybe?" said Kyoka Jiro, cooling off by the open window.
"The boys were fighting at dinner, weren't they! With the class B dudes, I mean."
"Idiots. All of them… But no, this scream sounded like Mineta?"
At the sound of Mineta's name, Mina Ashido popped up in bed and said "Yechh" with the same level of disgust she's reserving for her supplementary lessons with Aizawa.
"At least we know he's getting punished!" Ashido grumbles, still good and angry about the night's earlier events.
"Seriously!" says Uraraka from one corner of the room, where Tsuyu was pressing on Uraraka's back to help her stretch.
"That boy will never learn until he actually gets hurt in the process, I fear," adds Yaoyorozu, who was busy organizing her things.
This was the space set aside for the girls of class A. It was a simple dorm room with only six mats, smaller than the boys' room since there were fewer girls to accommodate. There wasn't space for much else besides the girls' six futons, but since the room was only meant for sleeping anyway, it served its purpose. Raised in the lap of luxury, Yaoyorozu had at first been shocked and horrified by the cramped quarters, but she had quickly acclimated when the others explained that training camp was all about roughing it.
"I should've stabbed his eye harder with my plug," Jiro chastised herself.
"And I should've hit him with the acid that really burns!" Ashido followed up, thinking back to their triumph over Mineta when he'd attempted to peep at the class B girls.
Criminals and villains would always be persona non grata, but to these girls, those who committed sexually based offenses were especially heinous. While the rest of them were still fuming, Asui spoke up.
"I don't believe Mineta will ever truly change. He's been hurt plenty already, and it's never deterred him."
"You…may be right…" Yaoyorozu admits.
They all reflected on the boy's past misdeeds and realize that if they were to represent Mineta as a pie chart, he would be a solid circle labeled "Lust." Asui's point was hard to deny.
"Even so, this particular offense was directed at the girls of another class… It's shameful that a fellow member of class A would do such a thing…" Yaoyorozu stated somberly. As vice president, she felt a certain responsibility for keeping her cohort in line.
Suddenly, they heard a knock on the door and a voice.
"It's Kendo. Can we come in?"
The girls of class A glance at one another, unsure how to react to the unexpected visitors. Those lying in bed sat up, and after Yaoyorozu received small nods from each, she said "By all means" and opened the door.
Itsuka Kendo led the pack. With her were Kodai, Shiozaki, and Yanagi—a class B girl with bangs flopped over one eye. Kendo thrust a bag toward Yaoyorozu.
"As thanks, for earlier."
"Thanks for what?"
"Wait, what's going on?" asks Ashido, intrigued by the bag and hoping to get a peek. She wasn't the only one—the other class A girls looked into the bag too, and Ashido yelps.
"junk food!"
"Sorry, it's just kind of a mishmash of whatever we had on hand," expKendo explains, jostling the bag of individually packaged cookies, chocolates, and other goodies.
"To what do we owe this honor…?" wonders Yaoyorozu with a tilt of her head. "If you're referring to the incident with Mineta, think nothing of it! In fact, we should be apologizing to you for the appalling behavior of our classmate!"
She sounded like an abashed mother trying to make amends for a poorly raised, troublemaking son. At this, Kendo gave a puzzled smile.
"Don't sweat it. All's well that ends well, right?"
"Besides, we only caught him in the act because you girls warned us to start with," said Yanagi from behind Kendo. Beside her, Kodai muttered, "Mhm." Shiozaki took a step forward with her hands clasped together, as if in prayer.
"Please accept our gratitude and know that this is also on behalf of Tokage, Komori, and Tsunotori. They would have liked to thank you all in person too, but they were summoned by Vlad Sensei to review today's training session…"
Setsuna Tokage was a girl with sharp features who had nonetheless given class A a cheery shout-out back at the bus parking lot. Kinoko Komori was particularly petite, with a mushroom-shaped bob cut, and Pony Tsunotori was a charming girl with impressive horns and wide, round eyes.
"Exactly. It meant a lot to us, so here," said Kendo, thrusting the bag toward Yaoyorozu once more. The latter still had qualms about the gift, but Ashido jumps in and grabbed the bag with a "Thanks a lot!"
"Really now, Ashido…" Yaoyorozu starts, but the others butt in.
"Come on, Momoyao. They got together to prepare this for us, so let's not be rude," Jiro reasons with the vice rep.
"Yes, Yaoyorozu. We can't just refuse the gift flat out," Asui adds.
"But we only did what was natural…"
The generous gift still doesn't sit well with Yaoyorozu, but this time Hagakure had an idea.
"How about we all eat this stuff together!"
Everyone turns to Hagakure's invisible face—presumably just above the collar of her floating pajama top—and could imagine a wide smile plastered across it.
"A slumber party! C'mon, since we're all here anyway!"
Slumber party. The words hung in the air for just a moment before smiles broke out all around.
"Yes! A chance like this doesn't come around too often."
"Sure… Slumber party…"
"Can we really?"
"Why the heck not? Pretty sure the boys are all hanging out together, too."
"Mhm."
"All agreed then?"
"Yeah, let's do it!"
They sprang into action, spreading the sweets out in the middle of the room, buying a bunch of soft drinks from the nearby vending machine, and rolling up their futons to use in place of floor cushions. The girls of class A added their own snacks to the pile, and everyone raise their cups for a toast. The sweets and good company put their bodies and minds at ease—this simple chance to chat and hang out was a welcome, exciting relief in the middle of training camp.
With slightly flushed cheeks, Yaoyorozu glance around, unable to hold back her own delight.
"To tell the truth, this is my very first slumber party… Could someone explain how this is meant to go?"
"Well, you get a bunch of girls together, stuff your faces, and sit around chatting about whatever!" Ashido quickly explains. But Hagakure's invisible finger wagged in objection.
"Naw. Every good slumber party…demands talk about ~amore~!"
The energy level in the room shot up a little.
"Yesss! The perfect slumber party topic!" Mina says in agreement.
"Yikes, ha ha," Uraraka says unenthusiastically, blushing.
"A conversation about love, then?" said Asui.
Jiro sighs, "Really…?"
"So that's where we're taking this, huh," said Kendo, with a forced smile.
"L-love? ?" gasps a flustered Yaoyorozu. Her mind going to a particular American teen.
The ever nun-like Shiozaki was on Yaoyorozu's side. But for very different reasons.
"I must agree. Marriage is a promise made before God…"
"who said anything about marriage?!" Ashido whispers to herself.
"A-more? A-more of a-what?" Yanagi asks for clarification, to which Kodai shook her head and said, "Nuh-uh."
Each girl was excited about this in her own way (or not), so the conversation switched to romance. Hagakure took charge and got the ball rolling.
"So, who's got a boyfriend?"
They all glance around on obvious pins and needles, but nobody made a peep. The silence hung in the air for a moment before being broken by an aghast Hagakure.
"Huh? Nobody? Really? How about girlfriend?"
The energy subsided a little as the girls all shook their heads. None of them seem to be hiding a secret relationship status, at any rate. A sense of gloom descends over the room.
They all had friends who'd gone on to normal high schools without hero programs, and those friends always had stories about so-and-so dating this one or that one. As these girls understood it, high school is supposed to be a time for reveling in young love.
"Well, not like there was time for that at the end of middle school, what with cramming for exams. "
"And we haven't exactly had the luxury since starting U.A., either," adds Kendo with a grimace, prompting profound nods from the group.
There was a lot to learn on the road to becoming pro heroes, so students of the Hero Course attended classes Monday through Saturday. Beyond the practical exercises, they also had ordinary school subjects with the usual homework and tests, so free time was a nearly foreign concept at this stage of their lives.
"Argh, but romance! I wanna hear something to tug at the heartstrings! How about crushes? Any of you gals crushing on someone?" A desperate mina throws in, leaning forward hungrily. The romance spark wouldn't be so easily snuffed out, and Mina was more than willing to live it up vicariously if the others had stories to offer.
Yaoyorozu, blushes as she thinks to herself, crushes?
"Crushes, huh…" Uraraka says to herself. She suddenly recalls Aoyama's words to her during the practical portion of their final exam, when he had suggested that she was crushing on Izuku Midoriya. The freckled face with green hair floats up into her mind's eye.
Asui was quick to pick up on Uraraka's flustered state. "Hmm? What's wrong, Ochaco?"
"Ah, I know that look!" Hagakure says , creeping towards the gravity girl like a shark smelling blood in the water.
"There's def someone you're into!"
"N-no way. Sure isn't. Me? Naww."
"You're not helping your case, girl," The invisible teen says with a sweat drop shared by all the inhabitants of the room.
Mina begins to pester her, "Who is it, who is it? We'll keep it a secret between us girls!"
As the two cupids close in on Uraraka, her cheeks somehow grew even redder than usual. She panics.
"Nah, y'see, my thing, it's not like that."
"Your thing, huh? What thing is that?"
"Just spit it out already. You're totally in love with someone, right?"
"Seriously, not like that!"
Hagakure and Ashido were coming after her like a pair of hard-boiled detectives, and at the word love, Midoriya's face pops into her head again. She waves her hands around to chase away the image and accidentally grazed her interrogators, sending them floating into the air with her "Zero Gravity" Quirk.
"Huhh?"
"Ahh!"
"Oops, sorry!" Uraraka, brings her fingertips together and cancels the effects. The two girls plop down onto some futons.
"Like I said, that's not it! It's just been a while since I got together with girls to chat about junk like this, so it got my blood pumping, I guess?"
"Been a while? That's all, huh," Jiro repeats, unconvinced and clearly exasperated. Toru and Min apologize and adjust themselves back into position. Uraraka was still feeling awkward, but she breaths a small sigh and strokes her chest, relieved at having fooled the others.
Hmm? Fooled them? Nah, I just got them off my back, right? After all, what do I have to hide? I only started thinking about it cuz Aoyama had to go and be all weird… Thinking about it? Nah, not even that far. And thinking about what, exactly? Me and Deku? It's not like that… Not us! We're not together or anything. Just, like, connected or whatever. No biggie.
Uraraka's mind races, sending her tumbling backward onto her futon.
"Everything okay, Ochaco? You suddenly look exhausted," Asui asks, concerned for her friend.
"Just trying to stop my heart from pounding, heh…"
"Do you need a doctor? That could be a sign of something worse."
"I wish a doctor could cure what I've got…" She mumbles.
"How awful, that the body would react in such a way to the topic of love… Could the Lord truly have been so cruel while creating us?" Shiozaki laments, gently stroking Uraraka's head with all the compassion she could muster. This only got Mina fired up again.
"See? This is why us girls gotta open up about romance every so often! So let's hear it—any actual crushes?"
Nobody so much as twitched this time.
Her eyes quickly latch onto Momo who ahd done her best to shrink as much as she could. "how about you Momoyao?"
"Eep!"
"boy we're really passing the bechdel test aren't we?" Jiro muses.
"We could always talk about literally anything else, give me something quick!" suggests Yanagi.
"Hows the weather for you today?"
"Hot but not muggy hot more like a dry heat which I much prefer."
"Think that's enough?"
"Hope so."
"Ugh, but my heartstrings are still begging for some tugging! I can't help being a girlie girl."
It wasn't that Mina wants a boyfriend or girlfriend of her own, really. She wasn't after love for herself, since she knew full well that she and the others had to devote themselves to their hero education for the time being. That said, once the seed of romance was planted in her brain, it had to sprout and bloom. She needed that tight-chested feeling that only came from the perfect sappy story. That sweet shudder down the spine, sparked by puppy love. The almost-magical sensation that fills the heart to bursting. That could sustain Mina in the meantime, feeding the girlie girl within, and what better time to refuel than these precious few evening hours of training camp? This jumble of emotions reaches the other girls wordlessly, but though they nod at her, not one of them could come up with a romantic anecdote of her own.
The conversation had come to a standstill again, but Toru had another idea.
"How about we get our fill with, uh, y'know, hypotheticals!"
"How, exactly?" asks Asui. Yanagi look just as wary and said, "That might not end well."
"What I'm trying to say is…use our imaginations! "Fantasize! Like, is there any boy in class A or B you'd wanna date? That kinda thing."
Mina snaps her fingers, "That could work,", fully on board.
"Choosing a-a boy in our c-class…" Yaoyorozu stammers.
"Slumber parties are all about easy, breezy chatting, though. Just another way for us to communicate about anything we want," offers Kendo as if she was an old hand at this, smiling and sitting cross-legged on the other side of the circle from Yaoyorozu. The latter was immediately impressed by the former's open-minded attitude.
"I suppose so… Every experience can be a valuable lesson, somehow."
"C'mon, then… Who would you guys wanna date?"
"Picking a boyfriend, huh…"
The girls fell into deep thought. So deep that they didn't notice Uraraka blushing and shaking her head again.
Mina purses her lips,"I haven't thought of them as boyfriend material before."
"True. Never really looked at any of them that way," said Kendo.
"I view them as classmates, fellow heroes in training, and rivals, even…" confesses Yaoyorozu.
"Yea ok." Toru snorts.
"These two keep doing that," Kodai says, "Why?"
"Cause she's in loooove!"
"Toru knock it off!" Jiro defends her friend.
"Oh come on it's obvious as day she's got the hots for him!"
Jiro is unable to say anything to that, "Jiro!"
"Sorry Yaomomo, but it is true."
"Who're you talking about?" Kendo asks.
"Peter of course!"
Setsuna thinks for a moment, then shrugs, "He does have a nice ass."
Some of the girls spit out their drinks while Yaoyorozu turns beet red. "W-WHAT?!"
"Setusna, such vulgar language!" Shiozaki shames her.
"Oh come on you're telling me known of you checked him out?"
Mina admits, "Yea you're right, I bet it's all that wall crawling, really works out his glutes!"
Yaoyorozu isn't sure whether she should be jealous or shocked at the moment.
Mina rolls her eyes, "What I have a thing for muscles ok?"
Toru nods her head, "It's true, she practically kisses her Miruko poster goodnight every time she goes to sleep."
Mina drools for a moment, "She's muscle mommy."
"But aren't you and Kirishima close?"
"Like I said, got a thing for muscles and you gotta be blind to not admit some of the guys in our class are easy on the eyes."
"So what about the resident wallcrawler has your attention?"Jiro asks her friend, feeling like teasing her tonight.
"W-Well, h-He is a good listener. He's very smart and out spoken about his feelings too." Her eyes soften as well as her voice, "And he treats me like an equal, he never afraid to admit he was wrong and he ahs a strength to him that makes me feel safe."
She was lost in her own world before focusing and realizing that most of the girls were staring at her open mouthed. "What?"
"That sounded more like a confession. You got it pretty bad girl!"
Now she's desperate to get the attention off of her and, feeling like teasing back she sets her sights on the purple haired classmate. "What about you, Jiro."
"Huh? What about me?"
Jiro was caught off guard, and Yaoyorozu smirks triumphantly.
"I was just recalling how well you seem to get along with Kaminari… What do you say to that?"
Her earlobes float erratically, "Ugh, knock it off! He's just easy to talk to, is all. But totally the type of flake to cheat on a girl, first chance he got."
Jiro's face scrunched in clear embarrassment, and to her left Mina, insensed, comes to her friends defense.
"Kaminari may be a lot of things, but cheater is definitely not it. He wouldn't even cheat on the exams!"
Jiro, taken aback, asks, "Why are you defending him so much?"
"Cause of what we went through, he was quick to put himself into danger for us when those killer robots attacked us remember?"
Asui puts a finger to her chin, "he does strike me as someone who'd be a loyal boyfriend.
"Do tell, Asui. Does that mean Kaminari is your type?"
"No. Not in the least. But as a rule, he's always a gentleman when it comes to girls."
"Only cuz he's a big fat womanizer," said Jiro in a bashful huff.
At the word womanizer, the exact same image popped into every girl's mind, and practically in sync, they muttered some version of "Anyone's better than Mineta."
"Mhm," said Kodai, late to join the chorus. The girls burst out laughing, suddenly feeling united in their struggle against the one villain they had in common.
"I'd take anyone in the whole world over Mineta!" Mina declares to Kendo, wiping tears from her eyes. "Anyone in class B similar to him?"
"No way. Our boys are pretty straight arrows, actually. Buncha hard-liners. Ah, we've got Monoma, of course," replies Kendo with a dismissive wave of her hand. Neito Monoma harbored a competitive spirit against class A, sometimes to an unsettling extent.
"Monoma, he's just…" Yanagi starts.
"Mhm," added Kodai.
"How do I put this…"
"Mhm."
The girls of class B were accepting of their somewhat eccentric classmate, despite his faults."
"He's actually not bad looking, so it's a shame he's such a wacko!" says Hagakure, holding nothing back.
"Speaking of hot dudes, how about Todoroki?"
Everyone pictures Shoto Todoroki and couldn't help but agree. The handsome boy was the independent sort who lives life at his own pace, and the girls couldn't think of a single downside to Todoroki until Kendo spoke up.
"Oh, you mean Endeavor's kid?"
The thought of Todoroki's fiery father stops them in their tracks. No way a relationship would survive with the number two hero breathing down your necks.
"Yep, I'm thinking nope."
"The guy'd probably be a real jerk to any girl dating his son…"
The girls of class A shrank at the thought of the imposing Endeavor, while Shiozaki alone was moved by compassion.
"Those with the fiercest temperaments often have the deepest wounds. If only someone could pluck the thorn from that man's soul…"
"You wanna get with Endeavor, Ibara?" gasps Kendo. The father of a schoolmate? Romance with a pro hero? Unthinkable. But Shiozaki maintains her composure and shook her head.
"All creatures great and small are deserving of love. No, I only speak of healing, not lust. Besides, the man is hardly my type…"
"Don't spook us like that," said Yanagi flatly.
"Watch her end up with someone like Bakugo." Toru whispers to Uraraka who stifles her laugh with her hands.
"Mhm," said Kodai with a nod.
Uraraka rubs her chest and spoke up.
"You sure are a serious one, Shiozaki!"
"Serious? Nobody's as serious as Ida," Asui says.
"Oh, your class president, right?"
"You can tell that dear Ida would never cheat on a girlfriend. Why, he'd probably be his usual serious self, even on dates…" Yaoyorozu compliments him. Everyone suddenly imagines it—the boy would turn a date into a stiff, formal affair. And after that, who could say?
"How many years would it take before Ida'd be willing to hold hands, y'think?"
"He'd probably wanna get married, first…"
"Good one, girls," Class b's rep laughs. They shake their heads at her, though.
"No, it's entirely possible, given how Ida is," said Asui.
"You mean it?"
"The guy is beyond serious about ev-er-y-thing."
The girls realized how exhausting that particular relationship would be, and Ida was quickly eliminated as a viable option.
"How about Midoriya?" Mina asks. Hearing that name, Uraraka's heart starts to pound again. It was getting a workout, this night.
"I swear, I don't get that kid," admits Kendo.
"Midoriya? How so?"
"Take the Sports Festival, for instance. He dug up all those land mines during the race, right? Totally insane strategy, but bold as hell. And then in the tournament, he's an all-out, bare-knuckle brawler. But when I spot him in the hall or cafeteria, he gives off a totally different vibe."
Uraraka opens her mouth to respond, but the swirling jumble of emotions kept her from forming words, so all that comes out is, "Hmm."
Asui spoke up instead.
"Midoriya, right… He's just about the hardest worker you'll ever meet. It's like everything he does is aimed at getting him one step closer to being a hero… I think he suffers from social anxiety."
Asui looked around for confirmation of her interpretation. After some thought, many come to the realization that it makes sense.
"You're right, he really does fit the bill. But you're not lying when you say he's a hard worker!" Mina backs Tsuyu.
Uraraka came to her support with a weighty nod and finally found the words.
"Seeing Deku in action just makes me wanna do my best too!"
Witnessing Uraraka do her darndest to get across that exact feeling, Kendo grins at her.
"Yeah, I get it. It's great when someone can inspire others like that."
Uraraka smiles back, happy to know that, just maybe, Kendo understood what made Midoriya special.
"Oh, but he's kinda, like, an insane All Might fanboy," Ashido throws in.
Toru hmms, "He'd probably cancel on a date if there was an All Might meet and greet to go to instead!".
"Yes. I do believe he would do that," Yaoyorozu sadly admits.
"Huh? Even though we see the guy at school all the time?" asks Yanagi, referring to All Might's recent decision to become a teacher at U.A.
"That's Midoriya for ya," The pink skinned student answers
"Or he'd ask his girlfriend to come along to meet All Might," Toru pokes fun at Midoriya's antics, his fanboyism very well known.
"You're…not wrong, there." Uraraka could easily imagine such a date with the boy.
"50/50 boyfriend material then," said Yanagi flatly.
"Nuh-uh," added Kodai.
Uraraka is relieved to be moving on from Midoriya. Still, something about it bugged her, and she made a sour face.
"How about Bakugo?" she suggests.
"No way," was Jiro's immediate answer instantly ending Bakugo's chances. "He's smart and he's probably got a bright future, but…that personality. Yeeeesh."
The girls discuss the rest of the boys in succession, weighing each boy with pros and cons by one harsh judgment or another followed with nice words of denfense.
"I think Parker would be nice but I can only take so many jokes lame jokes." Kendo states.
"I've noticed the lamest jokes are reserved for villains and Bakugo." Toru points out.
"Still, I'm good."
"So for the most part every guy save a few like Iida and Bakugo, have a 50/50 rating for them?"
"And none of us wanna admit which 50% is enough for us."
Mina wails, "Ugh… Don't tell me I'm gonna have to go off to my extra lessons without a single bit of lovey-dovey goodness to keep me going?"
She slumps over in despair, like a weary desert traveler in desperate need of water. Toru, hoping to come to her aid, thought for a moment.
"Maybe we've been going at it, like, backward? I mean, if we were boys and the boys were girls, which of them would make good girlfriends?" she said with what was most likely a wide grin.
"A change in perspective, huh?"
They tried to picture their male classmates turning into girls, which in most cases just meant imagining Mineta as a woman.
"Yeah, not doing it for me…"
"No, it could work!" insists Hagakure with a giggle. Nearby, Yanagi stares at Kendo.
"You'd have tons of luck with the ladies as a boy, Itsuka."
Kendo's eyes widen"Me? Y'think?". Yanagi nodds and says, "You're the coolest one of us, in class B." Kodai adds a "Mhmm" in support.
"Quite true. A single word from you, Kendo, is enough to shepherd our wayward classmates. You're evenhanded. Strict, yet warm… And eminently capable," said Shiozaki.
Yaoyorozu was inspired to add her own praise. "During our internship, you helped carry me along when I was feeling like deadweight. Without you, I fear I might have grown despondent, even."
Both Yaoyorozu and Kendo had interned with Snake Hero: Uwabami, but the commercial shoot they'd endured had made Yaoyorozu question the very nature of hero work.
"Naw, we both backed each other up. And cut it out, guys. I'm blushing over here," corrects Kendo, slightly uncomfortable with all the attention.
"Plus, we already know you stick up for women, since you knocked Mineta for a loop earlier," Tsuyu adds nonetheless.
"That was awesome!" shouts Uraraka.
This got Ashido thinking. "I bet you'd slap the living daylights outta pervs and gropers! As a boyfriend, you'd probably be all like, 'Hands off my chick, punk!'"
The whole group practically squealed, now imagining male Kendo defending their honor and driving off would-be harassers. Yes, Kendo would make the ideal partner—sympathetic to girls' feelings and ready to protect them at a moment's notice.
"Wow we just listed off all the guys in our classes and yet imagining Kendo defending our honor is what get's us all lovey-dovey."
"Hey, don't blame me," said Kendo with a grin. "Maybe the love angle just isn't gonna work. How about thinking of it from the sidekick or work partner's perspective? Like, working alongside the boy?"
"Alongside them huh?" Ashido thinks deeply.
"Or wait, no. What if you could be one of the boys for a day?"
The girls thought about Kendo's suggestion, and one particular boy pops into Uraraka's mind.
"I'd wanna be Bakugo for a day."
"Eh? Him, really?" asks a shocked Jiro. Uraraka smiles and shrugs.
"Mhm. He gave me a solid beating at the Sports Festival, right? During that battle, I really got a feel for how strong he is. Might be awesome to get a taste of that strength, myself!"
"Bakugo is quite strong, yes. With a keen sense for battle," remarks Momo.
"Exactly! If I got to be Bakugo, I'd wanna get in a fight and just go nuts!" Uraraka emphasizes her point by throwing a few snappy punches.
"I hear ya…" Mina thinks for a second. "In that case, I'd choose Sero. Always wanted to try shooting that tape of his! Since I get bored of my acid sometimes. How about you, Momoyao?"
"If I had to pick? Parker. I'm curiosu as to how his spider sense really feels like."
"Not to mention his swinging, could you imagine that thrill he gets?" Kodai says in agreement.
"Or shooting those webs!" Setsuna adds.
"They're actually a support item he made, not a part of his quirk." Momo corrects, deflating Setsuna.
"Well then forget it."
Jiro works up the courage to make her choice.
"Kaminari, I guess? I'd wanna fire off some electricity and feel what it's really like when he goes into dummy mode. Just once! Once would be enough for a lifetime."
"I would choose…Tokoyami," Asui decides. "Fighting alongside Dark Shadow and having it live inside you? I have to wonder what that's like."
"I don't know, having some other sentient creature living inside you that feeds on darkness would give me an indentity crisis or something." Jiro confesses.
"I'll take Sato!" said Hagakure. "Eating all those sweets and turning them into power? No extra chub, so no guilt!"
"Girl, you're invisible. Not like we could tell if you put on weight anyway," points out Ashido.
"Sure you could! My clothes would reveal the curves."
Kendo listens to the other girls chatter, somewhat shocked. She sighs and smiles.
"Not so hard to choose once we're off the topic of love, huh?"
And it was true. Where the lovey-dovey talk had sputtered out, the conversation about trying out other Quirks got their imaginations going.
"Gahh! We didn't get anywhere with the romance stuff!" says Ashido, flopping back in defeat. The other girls exchange pained smiles.
Jiro tries to cheer her up, "Good luck with your extra lessons, heh."
"Surely our failure here was a sign from God," Shiozaki mutters.
"Nooo!" cries Mina, flailing atop her futon in defiance of the naysayers.
"Still…" Asui interrupts, "They say you 'fall' in love, right? It's not something you can help, and when it happens, you'd probably want to tell someone about those feelings. We can always revisit the romance talk if and when that day comes… " She gives a sly look to both Momo and Uraraka, "Or when we're ready."
Momo muses to herself, when we're ready. When I'm ready, would I be able to tell him? Should i? He already knows… but is it enough?
The warm and fuzzy moment didn't last long for Ashido, who was dreading the supplementary lessons with Aizawa.
"I need my fix, though! Anything! The tiniest romantic convo!"
Forget the distant future—she wants it now. A dose of inspiration to help her survive summer school hell.
"Gotta come up with something quick, then… Ah, how about, like, what type are we into?"
"Yeah! What's your type, Mina?"
"Well… they gotta be strong! But also with a childish side sometimes? Someone wild who plays by their own rules but always sticks by your side!"
Strong, childish, always by one's side… The girls of class A listened intently and all came up with differing thoughts.
Most kept it to themselves but Tsuyu had the backbone to say it outloud.
"That sounds just like Dark Shadow."
"Y-yea Totally true!"
They leap to agree with Tsu before Mina could get a word in edgewise.
"Dark Shadow? That's Tokoyami's Quirk, like you mentioned earlier, right?" asks a bewildered Kendo.
"Yeah! But…" Mina pouts. "It's not a person!"
"It's so strong, though," Asui replies with a shrug, "Today, just before lunch, I peeked into the cave where Tokoyami was training. Dark Shadow was unbelievably fierce in that darkness. Really giving Tokoyami a hard time."
"And then, when it's light out, it gets all cute! Always going 'Yup!' and 'Yep!'"Uraraka comments, thinking back to Dark Shadow's more charming moments.
"During our final exam, I was teamed up with Tokoyami. He mentioned how Ectoplasm Sensei's "Quirk was particularly powerful, and Dark Shadow whined, 'I'm powerful too,'" adds Asui.
"Wow. That is cute, actually."
"Mhm," Kodai giggles.
Even these two seem to relax their typically stern expressions.
Hagakure also says, "So it's childish too!"
"This Dark Shadow doesn't sound half bad," said Kendo in earnest. The other girls nod, as if Dark Shadow were a transfer student they hadn't remembered up to this point.
"You guys can't be serious…" grumbles Ashido.
"Plus, it's a Quirk, so it's always by your side," Jiro comments.
"Always by Tokoyami's side, more like!" Mina retorts.
"Guess that makes Tokoyami your type, since Dark Shadow totally makes him the complete package!" teases Hagakure.
"That's not how any of this works!" Mina growls, practically snorting in frustration. "I'm getting my heartstrings tugged tonight if it kills me! Next up is…which pro hero would you wanna marry?"
The girls flinch at the question but were soon laughing it up once again.
Gossip, compliments, judgments, pure delight—this roundtable had it all. And while the romance talk may have stalled, the girls were feeling warm, fuzzy, and fulfilled before long. The slumber party was far from over.
The next day
Sato, Kaminari, Sero, and Ashido, stood with Aizawa, nearly dozing off on their feet.
"Hey, extra lessons group, don't stop!" The teacher orders, pulling Kirishima up with his scarf.
"Got it!" Kirishima slurs out despite his mental fatigue.
Sero yawns, "I didn't think yesterday's extra lesson would go until 2 am."
"And we started today at 7 am." Sato sighs.
Aizawa lets out a frustrated puff of air from his nose. How do you think I feel? "I told you it'd be tough. Remember, you're not just improving your quirks. You're also working to overcome the many weaknesses I saw on the finals."
That dig snaps them into formation. "Think carefully about why you're more tired than the others before you start whining. You have much to improve here." He yanks the scarf holding Kirishima a little harder before letting it go.
"Uraraka! Aoyama! The same goes for you. Your team didn't fail but you were very close. I'd say you passed the proverbial finish line by only a hair."
Uraraka drops the boulder she was levitating in shock, "That bad?!"
"Don't lose focus." He turns his attention to the rest of the class, "Each of you can move faster! And no matter what you're doing just remember where you started from."
Those words ring in Izuku's ears, "Don't forget who you were before UA."
That pushed him to go a little faster, because he wants to forget. He does the Kata's that Ojiro had shown him with as much precision as he can, keeping his full cowling at 6% this time, just over his threshold to get his body used to it and also to master his quirk output so as to not go over it. He finishes the Kata and heads to Aizawa.
"That reminds me, it's already the 3rd day at camp."
"Didn't you hear me? I said keep focused." Aizawa reprimanded Izuku as he bounds down to him.
"I was just wondering if All Might—I mean the other teachers from UA would be joining us?"
"Like I said before we came out here. To keep the camp a secret from the villains, hardly anyone knows where we are."
From where Aizawa had leapt, Ragdoll shouts, "That's why you get to work out with us four pussycats!"
Aizawa stifles a groan of annoyance and continues his answer, "and think about it. We believe All Might is one of the leagues targets, so we can't have him here. It's for your own safety. For better or for worse, that's what he gets for standing out so much."
The dreary cloud around Aizawa as the teacher walks away helps Izuku decide that, "Its mostly for worse these days."
He stares at his injured hand. "So that's it. All Might won't be here to help me."
"He hasn't really done much helping to begin with." Peter points out.
"What do you mean?"
Peter crosses his arms, " I mean it's really thanks to Gran torino and me that you've made so much progress with your quirk. All Mights only advice for controlling your quirk is, 'you have to feel it.'"
"B-but—"
"What? Am I wrong?"
Izuku has to look away because he does see that its true. All Might has been a good mentor in other ways but for truly grasping how to manage one for all, he has been 'lacking' in that department.
"He's really busy though."
"Too busy to help his successor who's gonna have to continue his legacy of protecting the world against an ancient evil? Yea sounds about right."
Now Izuku is starting to get incensed, "Whats with you lately? One minute you're the same old Peter and the next you act like such a jerk. You're antagonizing Bakugo more and more and Kirishima was telling me he was worried about you too!"
Just hearing Bakugo's name causes his anger to rise, and unbeknownst to Izuku, he became the target for that anger. "What's with me lately?—"
"Yes please tell us what's with you lately. Oh is it cause you're too scared in seeing Class B train to surpass class A?" monoma teases.
Again unknowingly, Izuku is saved from the symbiote fueled anger Peter is barely holding back as monoma has just become its new target. "Speaking of dickheads."
"Oh such crass vocabulary. Wouldn't expect anything else from Class A's brute."
"Brute huh? Coming from the guy who failed his practical exams?"
"Only the physical test not the written test!"
"Either way, you ain't got much leg to stand on and if you don't want me breaking both of yours, you'll mind your damn business!"
"P-peter!"
"Quiet lapdog!"
"Turning on your own classmates I see? Why you are so full of surprises today. Or is this the real you coming out to say hello?" Monoma eyes him suspiciously.
Peter glowers for a bit. Don't let him get to you Peter. He's not worth it. Don't sink down to his level… Why not? Why the hell not? It wasn't like monoma would ever rise up to his level. And it was high time someone taught him a lesson. If he was ever going to learn to leave us alone, descending to Monoma's level was the only way for that lesson to be taught. The glower breaks into a smile. He gets Tiger's attention and says, "Sensei, Monoma just asked for a sparring session with me."
Monoma's face drops.
"Think that's ok for us?"
Tiger glances at them both analytically. "Don't see why not."
Peter's smile turns into a smirk as he had said it loud enough for both classes to hear and they in turn make a circle around the two. Monoma is being encouraged by his classmates despite him not wanting to do this at all.
"Aw what's wrong monoma? Scared? I thought you said you'd eventually beat me."
The blonde glares hatefully at Peter, balling his fists. "Fine then."
The two get into a fighting stance, waiting for Tiger to give them the signal.
"Begin!"
Monoma charges at Peter. He cocks his fist back as he runs. He had trained since the Sports festival, strengthening his quirk as much as he could. Last time it was like Peter was immune to his quirk, it was a fluke, I was too tired from the previous games, I had never expended my quirk so much so of course it was too much to handle by then. But now I'm ready. And if I can marr that pathetic face of his while making his quirk my own, then all the better for it!
His fist finally makes contact with Peters face, but nothing happens. His head doesn't even move. In fact the only thing that hdoes appens is Monoma's hand begins to throb. He clutches the injured member, keeping his groans of pain smothered in his chest. "oh what's wrong? Still can't take my quirk? God you're such a sad son of bitch. You just can't do anything right."
Angered, Monoma ignores the pain and throws another punch with his good hand, but Peter effortlessly dodged it, his taunting smirk never leaving his face. Monoma hated it. He hated it cause he knew he'd never land a hit. Peter was fast and agile, more so than him. The only chance he'd have to evening out the playing field was to immobilize the American. And so monoma lunged at him but Peter at the last second leapt, planting a foot on monoma's back roughly, making the blonde eat dirt while Peter himself landed behind him. "Come on, get up, you asked for this in more ways than one."
Punching the dirt monoma growled as he rushed Peter, swinging and admittedly impressive combo of punches… right jab, left straight, right roundhouse, left haymaker. But not a single one connected. In fact he could see Peter lazily watch each limb flow off course as he kept himself safe from each hit. Twisting one way then the other, pivoting and leaning back as if he were dancing. Each movement was a swell of confidence for Peter and a stab at his ego for monoma. With a final yell Monoma threw his all into a right hook but it was stopped in it's track by Peters hand. He starts to tighten his grip. "You wanna know why you're really angry at me? It's not simply because you can't take my quirk. But it's because of its nature. You'll always have to rely on others to be of any use. Without someones coattails to ride on you'll be of the same level of importance as a rundown traffic cone. But not being able to copy my quirk? It just means one truth you'll never escape."
Peter leans closer, his hand tightening around monoma's painfully, "You'll always live in my shadow. Forgotten."
All fight leaves monoma as that sinks in. It's what he'd known from the moment he had gotten his quirk. And Peter was the nightmare personified. "Ah look at the little copycat. Gonna cry?"
He laughs and flicks monoma, the strength behind it lifting him off his feet and on his back. He turns and walks away, not even sparing the class B student a glance. The classmates that heard the exchange were utterly shocked. Never would they believe that Peter was capable of such cruel words. Izuku and momo especially. Now for sure they knew something was wrong and they both trail after Peter. Monoma lays on his back, looking into the sky emotionlessly. Kamakiri comes to him and offers a hand but monoma silently bats it away, he gets up and sulkingly leaves his class behind. Bakugo watches Peter go and says to himself, "Bout time he manned up."
"Wait! Wait! Peter!"
Peter sighs and throws his hands up as he faces Izuku and momo. "What now?"
"This isn't you at all! What's happened to you? Why are you like this so so hateful and and—"
"and what? Go ahead spit it out!"
"Rude! Cruel! This isn't the Peter I know!" Momo steps in.
"Peter you know huh? The same Peter you're doing this will they won't they crap on?"
"W-what?"
"You know exactly what I mean! Not wanting to be with me but getting all uppity the moment I speak to another woman. Don't think I forgot how you acted with Gwen."
"That is… that is not the point!"
"Course not. What is the point is you don't seem to want to be with me but hate the idea of anyone else wanting to be with me like I'm something to keep you entertained. Leaving me in limbo to 'figure yourself out' mean while you're rubbing elbows with Todoroki!" Peter accuses.
Taken aback, momo sputters, "Todoroki?"
"Yea I saw how close you were when we were cooking yesterday. He another guy you're gonna string along? Heh maybe we can make a club out of it or something!"
"Peter that's enough you shouldn't speak to her like that!"
"Why not!? She wanted to have this talk then let's fucking have this talk! I'm not gonna be spending my whole life having to wait on someone who's too scared of deciding what she wants and going through with it! And you—"
"You frustrate me to no goddamn end!"
Izuku's heart breaks at that but Peter doesn't care. "do you know how pathetic it is watching you let yourself get walked all over? Me, having to swoop in and remind everyone to treat you like an actual human being? My god! Just stand up for yourself for once in your fucking life! Bakugo will insult you, shit on you, and call you trash with none of the class or staff batting a fucking eye and you just take it with starry eyes and call him amazing. That's not a normal friendship! That's not normal at all but you just let it keep happening! Are you some masochist freak or something? You gotta be with how you use your quirk! I honestly genuinely believe that you want to die with how quickly you rush to destroying your body! There's so many smarter ways for you to do things to fight, but no 'I gotta blast my limbs out of existence all for one punch so I can be like all might!' That's all it is isn't it? It's not that you wanna be like All Might it's that you truly believe that you're as worthless as Bakugo said. If you were half as serious about becoming a hero as you said you are you'd have figure out ways around your quirk that didn't lead you to the hospital every other second. God it's such a chore looking at you Because you're just as pathetic as we were!"
Peter is left panting after that rant. It's like a haze was lifted from his eyes and he realizes that Izuku was crying. It wasn't his normal wail, but a silent cry. His Tears being the only indication. He looks and sees momo in a similar state. Now full of shame, without a word he leaves them behind in the wake of his verbal destruction.
"Now that we've filled up our bellies and washed the dishes! Next… "
"It's time for the test of courage!" Ashido cheers with a fist raised into the sky.
"We're gonna test it!" Kirishima, Sero, Kaminari, and Sato cheer alongside her.
But Aizawa cuts their happy yells short, "Before that it pains me to say this, but the extra lessons group will be having class with me now."
Mina's eye pop out and her skin turns white, "You've gotta be kidding me!"
"Sorry. Your training during the day wasn't good enough, so I have to use this time." Aizawa informs them as he drags the weeping students with him.
"Give us a break! Let us be tested!" The five protested as they got dragged away from the others while Tokoyami stares endlessly into the darkness of the forest.
"Revelry in the dark." Tokoyami mutters.
Uraraka gives him a worried glance as she notices he had said it again. In the meantime, Pixie bob runs down what the test of courage entails.
"So! Class B is going to start out as our 'scarers.' When they're in place class A will leave in pairs every three minutes. There are tags with your names on them at the far end of the route, your goal is to collect those tags!"
"Revelry in the dark."
"Now those who are scarers aren't allowed to make physical contact. Use your quirks to terrify the others, got it!?"
Tiger takes over, "The winners are, the creative students who make the most people piss their pants!"
Jiro cringes, "I did not need that mental image."
But Iida's mind went to a completely different route, "I see, so they're encouraging us to stoke our imaginations as we compete with each other, all while showing us more use of our quirks in the process! As expected of UA!"
Pixie-bob pulls our a name draw for all the students to choose from. "Alright! Everyone draw to see who your partner will be!"
Peter and Midoriya reach for a name at the same time. Both look at each other but look away just as quick. One unable to face his friend, the other unable to bring himself to apologize no matter how much he wanted to.
Midoriya walks away without another word as he mutters, "If we're two to a team… huh? Since there are twenty with five at extra lessons…"
"1st team: Tokoyami and Shoji.'
'2nd team: Bakugo and Todoroki.'
'3rd team: Jiro and Parker.'
'4th team: Yaoyorozu and Aoyama.'
'5th team: Uraraka and Asui.'
'6th team: Ojiro and Mineta.'
'7th team: Iida and Hagakure.'
'8th team: Midoriya.'
He sighs in morbid acceptance, "An extra person. Just me alone again."
Ojiro tries to comfort him, "We drew lots… someone had to have this fate…" But a hand on his shoulder stops him.
"Hey Tail. Switch with me." Bakugo demands, pointing at todoroki behind him.
Mineta on the other hand, powered by lust, stumbles towards Aoyama who's shaking his head violently as mineta begs, "Aoyama… please switch with me!"
But Ojiro isn't paying attention to that as he asks Bakugo, offended. "What did you call me?"
6 minutes later
Pixie bob smiles as she gestures to team 3: "Alright you two are up!"
Peter sulks as he walks with Jiro into the forest. Nothing but silence passes between them even with the occasional jump scare from class B that doesn't even register to the two. But for Jiro it was a different reason all together.
"So… wanna tell me what the holy hell happened today?"
"Do we really need to do this right now?" Peter sadly mumbles.
"yes the hell we do!" She roughly pulls Peter to a stop by his shoulder, glaring daggers.
"Momo came back to the room crying! She wouldn't budge on why no matter how hard we tried! Whatever got her messed up like that happened after she and Midoriya went after your fight with Monoma which is an entirely different thing altogether that we'll definitely put a pin on."
"What are you mother hen or something? None of this is any of your business.!" He tries walking around her but she gets right back in his face.
"I'm making it my business! God it's like you're a completely different person now. Or was the whole goofy nice guy thing just an act?"
"This is the thing I don't get about this whole goddamn school! We got assholes like Monoma and Bakugo spewing their sewage at us on a daily basis and it's all part of the status quo, hell you follow the blonde idiot like a dog but the moment we don't wanna tolerate it anymore, now we're the bad guy?"
"You unbelievable asshole!"
"Me. Not the guy who gave you a nickname that reduces your identity to your physical features?"
"That is—"
"Different right? Same goddamn thing Kirishima told me. How about before you try to fix us, you fix those idiots then maybe we'll feel like hearing you out but until then, can we just get this thing over with— Shh."
"did you just—"
"SHH!"
His spider sense goes off and he knows exactly where it's coming from and he dodges out the way of a man with pointed out, two between his knuckles and one coming from underneath his wrist in each arm through the woods. Peter reacts accordingly and pushes Jiro out the way and dodging the slash. He gets in a defensive position as he gets a better look at the man who somersaults mid air and gets into a fighting position in front of him. He has a clearer look at his unknown attacker. A man who looks to be shorter than Peter with a Mohawk, large tribal tattoos exending from the center of his abdomen over his left pec and leading towards his back where Peter assumes the tattoo continues. The mans canines are pronounced especially with the deadly smirk dancing on his lips.
"Thank god, we've been needing something to blow off some steam on." Peter snarls.
"You and us both kid."
"both?"
His spider sense tingles once more and a broken down tree is swung towards him but instead of dodging him simply punches it, shattering the piece of lumbar. "Who's disturbing us?"
A woman floating inside a glowing light construct in the shape of armor emerges from the trees standing on one side of Peter while the man stands on the other. "Mind introducing yourselves before we dance?"
The guy smirks, raising his claws. "Names Daken. She goes by Armor."
"Great, I'll make sure to report that once I'm done beating you to a pulp."
"Not unless I slice and dice ya first."
"uh huh uhuh, listen we aren't in the mood to talk, something that is normally a very foreign concept to us. So if you please get the fuck on with it."
Daken dashes forward, slicing and slashing towards Peter who effortlessly dodges and evades each attack, jumping out the way as Armor smashes her fists to the ground form which he stood, almost getting Daken. "Watch it!"
But his reprimand is cut short as Peter comes in with a brutal kcik to the face, making him spatter blood. Peter isn't done as he grabs his arm and uses his body like a bat to hit Armor off her feet. The force of the swing broke Daken's arm who yells as peter tosses Daken like a ball into a tree furthering the damage.
"Stay down. shouldn't be too hard what with your legs looking like spaghetti."
He points at the broken legs but is stunned to see them snap back into place, along with his arm. Daken groans as he stands, his body finishing up its healing process.
"That stings."
"Healing factor. Color us impressed. Just means we need to make you stay down longer." Peter observes.
"You could do that, or help your buddy out, she looks like she's about to go splat."
Peter looks over his shoulder as he watches Armor chase after Jiro who's narrowly evading her attacks. Thinking he had Peter distracted, Daken lunges for him but Peter backhands him without looking. "You think we were born yesterday?"
He quickly dashes towards Armor stopping both arms as they came down on him, "You're strong I'll give you that!"
Instead of trying to muscle his way out of this, Peter pivots and allows the arms to fall to his side and he loops up onto armors back. He's about to strike down but Jiro decides to help, "I got this!"
She stabs her earplugs into the armor, piercing it just barely enough and activates her quirk. Hoping to disorient their attacker. And suddenly the weirdest thing happened to Peter. The soundwaves travel through the armor and does indeed disorient the person inside the glowing armor, but also Peter. The soundwaves travel through him hurting the symbiote and making his brain scream along with it. He falls to the ground with an inhuman screech. Jiro is shocked frozen by what she had witnessed. Leaving her open to be sideswiped by Armor, having recovered just enough to defend herself. Daken quickly takes advantage of Peter's weakened moment and kicks him across the face. Peter stands but is slashed across the torso by daken and behind his knee, cutting the tendons and dropping him again. Armor stands over him and pummels him with repeated super powered hits battering the teen. Jiro tries to get up but a weird smell makes her dizzy and she falls to the ground as vertigo took her over. She watches helplessly as Peter, now unconscious left at the mercy of the villains.
Daken kneels down and caresses Peter's face with a claw, drawing blood as it drags along the skin. "cocky little shit sure had a mouth on him. Wonder if he'll still be anymore full of himself once I cut off his lips."
"whatever sick fantasy you have get it over with already. We have a job to finish."
"You can't rush ar—Ack!"
Though unconscious, A symbiote covered hand wraps itself tightly onto Daken's throat. The symbiote emerges from beneath Peters clothes, flowing like a river over his body, healing his wounds before covering them. It's tendrils pushing him up and enveloping his face until it turns back into his black suit. But this time it seems distorted. The spider on his chest has grown larger, and white, reaching towards his obliques and meeting the once on his back. The webs around the spider emblem look angry and bizarre, like barbed wire. The possessed spider-man lifts Daken over head and slams him back first on his knee. A sickening crack assaults jiro's ears as daken howls in pain, his legs going limp before he's shoved off Peter. Armor warily watches Peter as his lifeless eyes seem to focus on her. He cocks his head like a snake and slithers into a fighting stance. The last thing jiro sees before the gas overtakes her is Peter tearing the armor apart piece by piece.
Authors Note: Hello everyone! So a few things actually, i jsut wanted to let you know that some things will change from here on out including how Midoriya handles his fight with Muscular. Peter's little rant will help him with that. Also the aftermath of this plus the symbiote will cause PEter to go on his own separate adventure that'll lead him closer to the green goblin as well as his fathers past than he'd think as well as finally find out just what caused his parents death and tony starks connection to that event. It'll be a bit of a kick to the Formula arc. And yes i've added Daken and Armor. One to be possibly redeemed in the future, another to build a connection to a mutant we all know and love and may see in the future. So yes he's not a one off he will be back.
Also i jsut want to clarify a few things to which i will have to repeat a few times in the future cause i know it's going to come up again. My ending to the My hero academia story. As much as like liek the manga as a whole, the ending is starting to feel rushed and crammed. The stakes are so high that I feel like im going to be disappointed in whatever outcome may come. Liek Shigaraki borderline too powerful to actually defeat and they jsut keep adding more and more and more to his quirks. Which si something I'll handle with Richard Parker's research cause i have a love hate relationship to the quirk singularity theory. Which brings me to Midorias quirk. I think it's already an established fact that Horikoshi designed his quirk to be similar to spiderman. And yea im ok with that but isnce i have spiderman himself in this story, i may change up Midoriya's quirk. He'll still have black whip but some of his other quirks may changeincluding his second wielders quirk which honestly im nuetral on but felt like it was too close to luffys gears. And by the time i do the sequel sorry, I'm definitely going to marvelize his quirk, maybe even make it cosmic or something to put him on a different playing field.
As with the rest of the class quirk, It'll be slightly tweaked. Like tory, I'm definitely gonna make a change to maker her more useful cause simply being invisible and making alight to blind others is definitely not enough. Also when they get into learning about mysticism, one student will fidn out that they're mysticall inclined and will learn the ways of the mystic arts.
And one more thing, a little rant, i absolutely hate the current run of spiderman. I get that spiderman having harships is part of his character but my god they never give him a win, like ever and now he's getting his ass handed to him by people who never should be able to even lay a ahnd on him? The author ctually had him bound before tomstone and begging for his life. The fuck? And ocne again being on the outs with Mary jane. At this point i'm tired of it and hope they dont get abck together anymore cause this on and off bullshit is worse than ross and rachel. speaking of Mry jane with magic powers that come thanks to a mystical lottery? You know what, that's at least interesting but chances are it won't stick for long which will probably end up being a shame cause if they ever have her get back together with Peter, she'll finally not ahve to complain about him being spdierman cause now she can tag along.
Anyway rant aside, I hope you guys enjoy the end of the year and hope you have a good start to the next!
Doug W: He might.
Zero-X: Yea mirko will be back and she wont be taking him as a side kick. The reaosn she offered the intern for peter will be revealed and it definitely isn't cause of thsi goodness of her heart.
Chirs: I don't know, if she does then it'll probably be when they visit the x mansion. I know she's inhuman but as the MCU is doing, i'm probably gonna change it to mutants jsut cause i can. Speaking of, i found Ms marvel show to be fun. No it's definitely not the best and it wasn't as funny as im sure the writers wanted it to be, but it was enjoyable to me as bullet train was. dumb fun basically. And the actress did a decent job for her first ever role. and Antman dogwalks gigantomachia i dont care what anyone says.
Warlocktoungue: Possibly, we'll see in the future.
Throw-Away9261: Yea angry jerk is in full effect now. He's airing out all his greivances and the fall out may be bad. I'm glad you picked up on the junkie part cause i wanted to incorporate that into the story. Makes understandabe why it's so hard for him to let it go. And unfortunately a part of addiction causes you to lash out at the people you love when you don't mean it.
MRBEAST20: I'll give you a heads up when black panther will be seen, somehwere right before, during or after the war.
RedMist86025949: hope the verbal lashing was enough for noe butnext chapter we'll see jsut how frightening symbiote peter will be.
Mr A: Yea Shigaraki could defnintely been a better villain atleast at the beginning. Honestly now too but he's a little better in my opinion. To be hoenst i much prefer Dabi over him.
RedHood001: Thank you! Hopefully i can still manage it now. Unfortunately for peter, the suits influence will push him further into the darkness.
Monkey D Conan: Yea and im glad i got PEter to say to Izuku what i always wanted to tell him. And yea peter has been dealt badly befroe but iwill be giving him good moments to cause the guy definitely deserves it.
TheGreatGodzilla: I'm not exactly answering many PM's from now on jsut bad vibes all around and i'm jsut gonna keep the communications here thanks tho. I'd say that Hank anf Janet are in their early 50's around Tony's age in this story. Just like in the comics, Hank became abusive towards Janet. hope I'd put her at late 20's, sadly she grew up in a broken home between divorced parents. U havent really thought of Scott Lang yet so thats TBA. I don't think the galaxy hates symbiotes to the extent that eldians are hated but theyre wary of the hive mind and its intentions. I have no sympathy for marley but i do for the rest of the world. Like spiderman, i don't beleive everyone out theres is evil, theres good people out there who dont deserve to be lumped up with those in power who hurt them just as bad. I don't know how peter will think of them jsut yet but im guessing he'll be hesitant to allow one to latch onto him any time soon. Spiderman 2017 just did not live up to the standards of the previous spiderman shows even ultimate spiderman. Jokes weren't funny, plot was dnot as good as the ersions they were based on and in my opnion and they made peter so annoying. As you can see Hisako Ichiki will be someone who'll have a redemption arc in my story. I remeber how her armor abilities get more powerful with each death of her family and well that could give her an interesting story and it could lead into other students and heroes realizing that when it comes to villains, it's not always black and white.
Im bringing in different ways for Spiderman to be a polarizing person in the MHA world as he is in normal continuity. Toga is not actually a vampire, i jsut used that as an example.
