Chapter 8: Wish.

Into the story:

"- Worry not, your highness, for I, Captain Triton, will honorably accept the title bestowed upon me and pledge my life to protect this kingdom and it's fair ruler – He solemnly declared to the awaiting look of the princess. – However, my time in this planet cannot be eternal, for I have matters that escape my control in the vast regions of this galactic cluster, as well as comrades and blood that await my presence – He carefully warned to the princess, as the realization that his chores, friends and family cannot be halted or avoided forever brings him back into reality.

Thorough the next 3 days and nights after the alliance was officialized, Captain Triton served his princess with utmost loyalty and bravery, protecting the kingdom against wild alien athletes and random rock goddesses, meeting old froggy and robotic friends along the way, finding new ways to use the energy crystal for the benefit of the townsfolk and perhaps most importantly, strengthening his bond with the cute princess that the whole land owes its thriving economy to."

Back in the real world:

- Well that's as much as I could come up with, your turn lols – Lincoln says in a calm fashion as he hands Lola the pen and the book, allowing her to read his contribution to the story.

- mmm I see… - Lola quietly nods after reading (and re-reading) the fragment written by her brother, her face stuck in a downward gaze in a way that Lincoln could only describe as… Disappointment!?

- Lola I'm sorry if it's not good, I'm still trying to think of a new plot involving the two of them! – Lincoln says with an embarrassed face as he fears to have disappointed his sister with his uninspired writing.

- … oh… I-I mean sorry Linky! I was spacing out, don't worry I think it's good! – Lola agitatedly says while looking at Lincoln's eyes after hearing her brother's bothered expression to her reaction to the segment he wrote – it's just… - She stops eye contact with Lincoln to look sideways in a thoughtful expression.

- …What do you mean he has to leave? – Lola then looks back at the boy with a sad expression, forcing him to answer in a collected fashion with as much of a calm, reassuring voice as possible.

- No need to be sad for that Lols! Captain Triton is a free spirit, the whole point of his character is that he's a brave space cowboy that seeks adventure whenever he goes, besides, I'm sure that as a traveler, he must also have friends and family to worry about in his home planet, he's still devoted to his princess however and will always be there for her when she needs him! – Lincoln says while patting Lola's head to the last part, making her giggle in a way that would make even Lucy faint at the adorableness of it.

- Hehe stop that Linky! – Lola Cutely says while Lincoln stops the assault on her head, this smile doesn't last as Lola returns to her serious expression and begins writing, meanwhile, Lincoln watches intently as his sister tries her hardest to stop him from reading her story in the process of writing and just settles for looking at her array of emotions while writing it.

While mostly serious, he managed to catch a glimpse of a smile during her writing, but it quickly faded away as it turned into a sad expression, concerning him, but he knew there was no point in interjecting during her creative time so he just waited silently.

- Are you done? – He said as he noted that Lola stopped writing and threw her head back to inhale deeply, she clearly must have consumed a lot of her brain power writing it, and she wrote a lot! Which sort of excited him for the chance of having a truly interesting read, he then raised his hand to reach the book in Lola's grasp to read the awaited story, but just as he was close to touch it, Lola made a sudden movement to hide the notebook from him.

- W-wait! – She exclaims nervously to him, making him throw a concerned look at his young sister – First… Y-you have to promise me something! – She said with a shy voice, very unlike Lola-freaking-Loud.

- Sure, no problem sis, what is it? – Lincoln replies with similar discord in his voice, noticing the unfamiliar shyness presented to him.

- Just, don't judge ok? – Lola harshly says as she closes her eyes and hastily hands the book over to Lincoln, who could not understand why she would get so nervous about it, it's just a silly story! It's not as if she had been insecure about writing it before he started complimenting her writing skills!

- I don't see why I would Lols, you did a great job before! – Lincoln says in a comforting voice, though a little voice in his mind had started to arise, alarming him of things that he had chosen to ignore before, regardless, he makes up his mind and begins to read.

Into the story:

"Over the course of a few months, the princess and the knight started to become closer and closer to each other, Sir Triton, as he was now referred through, was ascended to become DeLola's appointed personal guard, while the knight still went into his own personal voyages in space and kept in close contact with his friends and family, he found himself wanting to remain by the beautiful princess's side most of the time, the princess herself didn't mind spending what little free time she had with the brave knight and tried to even secretly leave her spot in the crown a few times just to go with him on his exciting trips into the depths of space, these moments were rare however, but one such moment happened when a new discovery was made in a nearby planet.

- So apparently there are these 7 diamonds of different coloration known as "The Chaos Diamonds", that when put together can summon a giant dragon capable of granting wishes in a planet not too far away from here! – Sir Triton excitedly reported to his princess while attending her nails in her royal room.

- Really? Then we gotta go get them, maybe we can make this kingdom even more rich and powerful! – DeLola said happily, expecting her appointed knight to share her ideas.

- But there is one problem my princess – Triton said with a concerned look – Apparently it can only grant one wish, then the diamonds lose their coloration and power forever – He finished in a sad tone.

- mmm… if that's the case, I don't even want to imagine fighting with you for such a thing, so you can have it! – DeLola answered kindly, although her disappointment was visible.

- Actually, I was thinking on having your wish granted, my princess, I would give anything in this world to see you happy, but you know I can't stay here forever, and as much as it honors me to be your personal guard and closest friend, I just have some business ahead that will ask for my full time, so the least I can do, is to grant your deepest wish as a parting gift. – Triton said in a sincere, yet sad way while looking at his beautiful princess in the eyes.

- Triton… - DeLola said while tears were beginning to form in her eyes, though she knew that their union wouldn't last forever, she never expected that it would come to an end in a matter of just a few months! The truth is, that she had come to…"

Back in the real world.

- uhh Lola… - Lincoln suddenly stops reading to look at her with a puzzled expression as he approached the part of the story where he realized Lola was feeling embarrassed about, for he himself found it extremely awkward to read.

He had come to view these characters as nothing more than funny exaggerated self-inserts of the family members, so whatever the characters said and felt was always a projection of the real person behind, he himself felt that way for captain… well, Sir Triton, as he viewed himself as a free spirit starved for adventure, but considering what he just read…

Maybe it's time to stop this self-inserting thing altogether.
