Chapter 15: Twins.

- You CAN'T BE SERIOUS Lana! – A flashy look of utter disbelief was in full display for the blonde dressing in her pink pijamas as she questioned the mere implication of what her beloved twin had just dared to admit in front of her.

- Woah, you wanna wake the whole house again Lols? – Lana replied while covering her dirty ears with her fingers, in a vain attempt to shield her hearing from the always penetrating and loud voice of her younger twin, she too was changing to whatever light piece of clothing she could find as she was getting ready for bed time.

- No, I can't, I won't accept it, ugh, please just tell me that you just didn't actually say that Loser friend of Lincoln's is "cute" – Lola accentuated that last word with as much disgust as she could possibly muster, her own standards of acceptable beauty in jeopardy at the mere thought of someone that she shares everything with, including that "DNA" thingy Lisa explained them, actually being able to think of anyone in Lincoln's group to be remotely attractive.

… Anyone other than Lincoln himself of course.

- Ok sis, first thing, he's now a pal of mine, so if I were you I would watch my mouth against talking poop of my buds – Lana stood in defense of her newly attained friend, proving to her sister that she was not going to tolerate Lola's demeaning behavior to continue – Second, I thought we already talked about this, no judging – She then firmly reminded Lola of their little "agreement", coming as far as back as when Lana first introduced Skippy, her first crush, through a photo that she took while he was distracted fixing a bike, only to find Lola laughing in disbelief to her taste while shoving a photo of Winston to her face, using a line in the style of "This is the kind of man you should strive for… at the bare minimum".

Suffice to say, they wrecked the house in their "little" conflict.

- No judging, right… our agreement, I wonder if I… no, nobody can know that – Lola just stood in silence as Lana essentially ended the conflict with a swift swipe of "convincing" arguments, she knew she had nothing else to say in the matter, that little reminder of what she talked with Lana during that day putting her in a state of trance, as she considered just how NOT fitting she was to actually question Lana's taste.

Hers was much, MUCH worse, after all.

I… I'm sorry Lans, I know I have to respect our preferences, I guess I just don't like the idea that you might actually spend even more time outside, now that you have Liam's farm to visit. – Lola stated with genuine hurt in her voice, making Lana's expression soften and even produce a smile out of her, after all, it's not every day that you get to see the more soft and sincere side of Lola, she would know, she has been living the last 7 years in the same room as the drama queen.

Lana and Lola Loud have always been in a Love/Hate type of relationship for as long as they remember existing, always getting into stupid battles only to end up making up just a few hours later, as of recently however, Lola had begun changing some of her ways for the better, it had actually been awhile since the two had gotten into some stupid argument due to Lola's arrogance, Lana knew this and was very proud of the change that her dear twin had been taking, towards a more emphatic and understanding person, as a result, the Love/Hate relationship of the two had essentially evolved into a more focused Love aspect, with care and support never missing between the two.

…There was a catch though, Lana was not completely oblivious to the fact that her twin, as of lately, had begun vastly preferring Lincoln's company over hers, always finding an excuse to go hang with him, to sit beside him in the dining room, to talk to him and grab his hand whenever she couldn't keep her attention with her stories, or more notably, to challenge Clyde to his seat alongside Lincoln instead of just sitting beside her.

It would be no surprise then, that she had also decided to take her own initiative to engage in her personal hobbies with an increased frequency, she would go and play with hops in a nearby pond, or to find some random mud puddle in the park and interact with whatever little insects she happened to find within, she would even sometimes find an excuse to go "fix" a car or a bicycle on the road, just to check-out the gears and machinery running in action.

Then she met Liam.

The southern accent red-head that she was introduced to thanks to Lynn, as a "favor" of sorts to Liam, whatever the favor was about, she had no idea, only thing she knew for certain, is that the whole thing was… amazing; mud battles, pig races, counting (and eating) insects, assisting with the farm's truck and productive machinery, she didn't remember having this much fun in ages!

She also never thought she'd meet a boy who wasn't afraid of getting down'n dirty for fun, but also wasn't a total clueless immature threat to living animals (Sorry Skippy, but you don't get to treat hops as a slingshot!), to top that off, Lana actually felt like talking about the things that she was passionate about, and he would listen with genuine interest.

And it only got better for her when he offered to accommodate her whenever she wanted to go and stay a night at his farm, truly, she had achieved a gift from above, a true safe space that she could go any day she wanted to escape the sinking feelings of perceived distance from her twin.

Lastly, it didn't help that she meant it when she said that Liam was cute, being not one for romance herself, Lana found it incomprehensible that her mind was even capable of such a flood of thoughts that came to her whenever she thought of the possibility of her and the red-head being a thing in the future.

… a distant future, she thought sadly.

- Uh, Earth to Lana? – Lola finally exclaimed in an impatient tone to her sister in stasis while waving her hand at her face for signs of life.

- H-hey Lola – A Lana that had remained lost in thought following Lola's surprising apology finally snapped back into reality with a surprisingly shy approach – It's ok sis, I guess I hadn't thought that you were actually missing me all this time – she finally gathered her thoughts to form a coherent response to Lola's apology, coming to the realization that she really didn't mind spending more time outside anyways.

Lola was now smiling softly while stretching her arms to embrace Lana in a warm twin hug before Lana halted her movement, she was not done talking.

- Also, now that we're cool… – Lana added while shrinking in her place and using her signature cap to cover her face in the sign of a rising blush.

- Have you ever had a crush on a boy much older than you? –
