Chapter 18: Immoral.
A little hurdle was brewing in the already shaky loud table, the siblings, as well as the parents where exchanging looks with each other, the confrontation with Lynn Jr. long passed, apparently everyone had something to say on the matter, but it was still quite impressive, how nobody noticed that important detail while their faces where all being focused on Lynn.
The little girl In pink was nowhere to be seen.
- Uh did anyone see where she went? – A curious Lincoln was the first person in the group to react accordingly to the situation.
- Well, she's not below the table that's for sure – Lana then quickly responded while getting back up from "searching" there.
- She probably just went back to her room – Lynn Jr. added, a surprisingly reasonable point at that.
- But she didn't finish her breakfast – Lynn Sr. pointed out, his anxiety growing by the second – Was there something wrong with it? Did it taste bad? – He began panicking, before Rita, knowing her husband's common attacks of insecurity, quickly reassured him.
- Don't worry hun, it was delicious! – She said while touching her husband's shoulder as a sign of comfort.
- Well in that case, I'll go search in my room! – Lana said while standing up, showing that she had indeed finished Lynn's meal – Thanks dad, it was good, though it could of used a little more of that gray stuff – She said while pointing to whatever the heck she was noticing in Cliff's sand box (Yuck).
- Uh, thanks Lana…? – Lynn Sr. managed to reply back before Lana was already rocketing at the speed of a little girl in panic towards her room.
Lincoln just watched the exchange happen, had Lana not offered herself to go, he would have done it instead, after all, he was always going to be there for all of his sisters.
But he also just couldn't shake the feeling that perhaps, it was for the better that her twin was there for her instead.
He didn't think he could fix this one.
- … Ok Mr. Sprinkles, I'll allow you to give me a different opinion, Am I really such a freak? – Lola was laying on her carefully presented princess bed, in a sideways position, holding her favorite thing in the entire world, her Teddy bear, in her mind, he was just another friend, one entirely devoted to her that would keep her deepest, most intimate secrets, one that would always support her, one that would always be there for her.
… Somehow, this was a thing that not even Mr. Sprinkles could support her on.
- Let's try this once again, Mr. Sprinkles, please, I need a different opinion, just one, different, opinion. – Lola was beginning to increase the strength on her grasp to the unsuspecting teddy bear, trying her hardest to hold back bitter tears, she didn't want the despair in her heart to win the battle, but those words…
"Disgusting"
"Immoral"
"They are bro and sis, watch out for that, not cool!"
Well, at least she got the confirmation that she needed, coming from her own father and some of the other sisters, this wasn't a fairy tale where a princess and a knight where separated by unfortunate reasons but got to have a happily ever after.
This was real life, and there was no "Happily ever after".
Her "Knight", was nothing more than her big brother, and there was no way he was going to accept her feelings.
And even if he did, what's next? Their mom and dad would hate them for sure, each and every single one of the other sister would look down of them, not even Lana would be able to look at her in the face anymore, they would probably end up in the streets, with nobody to support them. That is NOT how the aspiring super star wanted to end like.
But… What if he did accept her for real? Would she even care about what the others have to say?
*knock* *knock*
Now it was time for her to pretend that everything was fine.
- Go away –
- Hey sis, are you ok? – Lana's voice came out of the door
- Weird, why wouldn't she just open it? It's her room as well after all – Lola though to herself.
- uh yeah I'm fine, I was just getting fed up with those stupid arguments down there – Lola said while rising from her bed to put Mr. Sprinkles back in her tea table, her sassiness covering the hurt of her voice.
- Well I mean, you did leave your food there, you know how dad gets when that happens – Lana then pointed out Lola's mistake, though she could not care less about that detail if she tried at the moment.
- Ok tell him I'm sorry, I'll go back to eat later – Lola then calmly replied, her intent to avoid any further confrontation, or even worse, "heart to heart" talks with her twin, her mood being quite easy to detect for the experienced tomboy.
- Well then, you leave me no choice Lols, we're going to sort this out right now. – Lana said while entering the room, filled with determination, she knew when her twin was hiding things, she also knew exactly what things were a big enough deal to send the princess back to her room.
A single confrontation in the Loud table was NOT one of them.
- Alright, you're gonna tell me what's going on - Lana said while closing the door behind her and putting her back on it, preventing any means of sudden escape from her twin.
- You're not gonna leave me alone are you – Lola finally replied in her typical daring fashion, standing up and facing her sister of equal height.
- Not this time sis – Lana stood her ground.
Lola took a quick breath and sighted in defeat, she wasn't going to tell her the full reason, but there was at least part of it that she could get out, partly to stop Lana from suspecting furthermore, partly because she just needed release.
- Remember the boy that I told you I had a crush on? – Lola began her explanation by refreshing Lana's memory to the conversation they shared just a few days prior.
- Oh yeah, that boy that you won't tell me – Lana then replied with a teasing tone, wanting to extract as much information as possible from her twin.
- Well, while Lynn was doing her award-winning interpretation of a jerk – Lola said with sarcasm in her tone – I was sort of getting entrapped in some hurtful things, I was thinking that I may not have a chance with the boy I Like, and well… - She then replaced her expression with a more saddened look – I guess I just didn't want people to see me while I was in a bad mood –
And Lana took the bait.
- Well, that's little random – Lana pointed with a raised eyebrow – But I guess I get your point… to be honest, I do have those thought with Liam at times – Lana then confessed on her own about the internal struggle she was facing.
Which reminded her…
- Hey Lols! About that favor – Lana began scratching the back of her head as a creeping blush started surfacing – Have you found anything? – She insisted against her better judgement.
- Not really… - Lola then gave her a sad expression – To be honest with you, I really haven't gotten the chance to talk with Lincoln this week – She revealed with a soft tone, expecting the face of disappointment of her sister.
- Oh… I understand… - Lana delivered on her expression – Well, regardless, I guess you can help me latter on – She said hopefully.
- Yeah sure, don't worry I'll get you some hot bits! – Lola replied, trying to mimic the hopeful expression of her twin.
- … Speaking of which – Lana continued. – Lola, could you do me that other favor again? – Lana began putting her hands together in pleading fashion.
She was going to Liam's again.
- Oh, uhh, Sure I guess – Lola immediately understood the nature of Lana's request. – But take hops with you alright? He needs to learn some lessons of respect – Lola said while glaring at the place where the little frog was resting.
- Deal! – Lana said while presenting her hand, ready to spit in it
- I rather NOT take your hand if you spit – Lola immediately flared in disgust.
- Oh, OK! – Lana resisted the urge but retained her raised hand.
- mmm… Deal! – Lola then returned the gesture and the twins shook their hands in agreement.
- Also… you know, if you get the time to do it… - Lana began acting nervious again while holding her twin's hand – Could you also get the time to maybe… Ask Lincoln? – She finished, her blush returning once more.
Lola thought about it, remembering the deal that she herself had made with Lincoln, then replied with confidence in her voice.
- Oh I definitely will~ –
