This is the 15th chapter. I don't own the series of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Baby Cakes
It's a pleasant daytime today as both Mr. and Mrs. Cake have had a baby. The Mane 7, the 7 foals, and Kronk asked if they could come to see the foals and they both said yes. In a hospital, they're letting out an excited chatter as they were peeking through a long window of the maternity ward where the babies were held.
"Can you believe the new baby is finally here?" Applejack said excitedly.
"Cup Cake and Carrot Cake must be so proud." Twilight said.
"I thought her name was Chiffon Swirl." Mario told her.
Though, Mario had asked her that very question and that's the answer she'd given him.
"She prefers Cup Cake for obvious reason." Twilight said as Mario hummed in understanding.
"I wonder if it's a filly or a colt?" Rarity asked.
"We should find out soon." Mario said when he, Comet, and Storm Hawk looked at Pinkie Pie in annoyance. "Hopefully, before Pinkie dents the window..."
"I wanna see the new baby pony! I wanna see! Which one is it?!" Pinkie Pie said excitedly as her face was practically plastered to the window.
"Mom, calm down. Look." Rose Lotus said.
Rose Lotus points to where Mr. Cake is as he was standing over one of the bassinets. He must've been up all night as his bow tie was loose, his mane is unkempt, and he had a face full of beard stubble.
"Meet our son, Pound Cake." Mr. Cake said.
Mr. Cake moves the blanket to expose a tiny little newborn foal sleeping as had light goldish gray fur coat with brown mane. The newborn colt let's out a cute yawn as he also reveals that he has wings, marking him as a Pegasus.
"Awwww..." The ponies said.
"...and our daughter, Pumpkin Cake." Mr. Cake added.
Mr. Cake then turns around to the other bassinet and pulls down a blanket to reveal a newborn filly as she had a light yellow fur coat with light brilliant orange mane, and she had a horn on her head to reveal that she's a Unicorn. She let out a cute yawn before sucking on her front hoof.
"Huh?" They said surprisingly.
"Twins, didn't see that one coming." Storm Hawk said.
"Two new foals for me to play with?" Pinkie Pie said with a gasp. "That's two, two, two times the fun! This is the greatest day ever!"
Pinkie Pie then quickly darts out of the view and instantly appears inside of the maternity ward, wearing a party hat and she also had a party kazoo clamped in her teeth. The Mane 6, the 7 foals, and Kronk outside of the ward were confused by her antics.
"We need to celebrate your birthday, babies, 'cause you were just born today!" Pinkie Pie told them. "Woo-hoo!"
Pinkie Pie was about to blow into the kazoo until Nurse Redheart came in and stopped her from doing so.
"Shh! The babies are trying to sleep." Nurse Redheart said sternly.
"But I just-"
"Shhh!" Nurse Redheart cuts her off.
"But-"
"Shhhh!" Nurse Redheart repeated more firmly as she walked away.
Pinkie Pie glances in the departing nurse's direction, then slips between the two newborns and starts to sing quietly.
"Happy, happy birthday to you and you today-"
Pinkie Pie then disappears in a flash and appears back to where the rest of the ponies are thanks to Mario's magic.
"Pinkie, what part of 'the babies are trying to sleep' do you not understand?" Mario asks sternly.
"Aw, come on. I just wanted to sing them a happy birthday." Pinkie Pie complains.
"You can do that after they're out of the ward." Rose Lotus points out. "Plus there's more foals in there than the twins, you might cause problems."
Her friends and her godson nods with an agreement, causing Pinkie Pie to cross her fore-hooves with a pout.
"But something's got me thinkin' though." Applejack said. "How in thunderation is one of them twins a Pegasus and the other one a Unicorn?"
"I was wonderin' about that too." Apple Shine agrees. "Aren't you both Earth ponies?"
"Don't worry, I can easily explain." Mr. Cake assures them. "My great-great-great-great grandfather was a Unicorn, and Cup Cake's great aunt's second cousin twice removed was a Pegasus. That make sense, right?"
They looked at each other dumbfounded.
"I guess..." Mario said, scratching the back of his head since he knew a lot of school subjects, but family genetics and genealogy isn't his cup of tea.
"Not really." The 7 foals said skeptically.
"Though...it seems like a long way to go for a simple and easy explanation, but I guess so if it's in the family tree." Kronk adds with a ponder.
"Aw yeah! Heh, just you wait! Once little Pound Cake there gets his wings going, he'll be all over the place." Rainbow Dash said, zips back and forth a few times.
"And be careful around Pumpkin Cake." Twilight warns him.
"Baby Unicorns get strange magic surges as that come and go." Rarity adds.
"And trust us, we've learn that the hard way when it comes to Flora." Kronk adds.
"That's true, one of the magical surges saved my life." Mario said.
The others nodded in agreement, including Mr. Cake. Pinkie Pie then appeared inside of the ward again in between both the foals with a chocolate in her hooves.
"Quick! Make a wish and blow out your candles!" Pinkie Pie told them. "Which is easy 'cause there's zero candles! You are zero years old, after all!"
SMACK!
"OW!" Pinkie Pie yelped as she rubbed her sore head in pain as Mario glared at her sternly.
"Shhh!" Nurse Redheart said sternly, making Pinkie Pie to twitch backward slightly and hit herself in the face with a cake.
Pinkie Pie ends up with an embarrassed smile framed by chocolate icing around her mouth and a beard/mustache of white from the cake's trim. The others looked at her in annoyance.

One month later in Sugarcube Corner, the foals have now grown a little bit as they can now walk and both their manes and tails were more clear along with Pumpkin Cake having a blue bow in her mane. They both were also wearing diapers. Both of the twins let out a happy gurgles as they were both walking and playing around on the floor until Pinkie Pie bursts in from the kitchen with a cake on her head with the number 1 on it. She hops cheerfully towards the foals and starts to sing to them.
Pinkie Pie (Sings):
Happy month-I-versary to you and you today!
I-can't-believe-you're-already-a-month-old
Time-sure-flies-doesn't-it-wow
Seems-like-only-yesterday-you-were-born
But now you're a month old today, hey!
Both of the foals blow into their party kazoos and jump onto Pinkie Pie and tackle her to the ground while letting out cute giggles. Mr. Cake sees this and let's out a little concern before just smiling and going back to work. Pinkie Pie then pops back up in between the twins.
"Are you ready for your favoritest game in the whole wide world?" Pinkie Pie asked excitedly as she dives through the double doors leading into the storage room, then hangs her forelegs over the top edges once they stop swinging. "Where's Pinkie Pie?"
Pinkie Pie then quickly opens the doors and sticks her head out.
"Here I am!" Pinkie Pie said.
And just as Pinkie Pie repeats it again, Rose Lotus went inside of the Sugarcube Corner which it got the twins attention as they ran up to the gypsy filly excitedly, wanting her to pick them up since they craved their unrelated aunt's attention.
"Where's Pinkie Pie? Here I-"
Pinkie Pie froze when the twins were clambering over Rose Lotus, ignoring the mare who's entertaining them.
"Hey! That's my job to play with the babies!" Pinkie Pie shouts.
"Sorry, Mom, but they seem to want my attention." Rose Lotus said as she picks up the twins with a smile, sitting on her haunches while holding them.
Djali went in the Sugarcube Corner, joins the gypsy filly when the twins noticed the goat. Mr. and Mrs. Cake were doing their normal duties as Mr. Cake brings in a couple of boxes of pastries in the storage room on a table. They look at Pinkie Pie with a slight worried look at seeing what she thinks taking care of the babies are like. Rose Lotus on the other hoof, she seems to be more mature than her mother despite her early age, but it got them worried that foalsitting the twins would be too much for her to handle. Mrs. Cake pokes her head out from the kitchen.
"Everything okay in there?" Mrs. Cake asks in a singing tone. "Who needs a diaper change?"
"Don't worry, they're fine!" Pinkie Pie said as she picked up Pound Cake and takes a whiff at him to notice that he did indeed have a stinky smell and needs a diaper change. "Oogh, I mean..."
Djali bleats from the smell and backs away while Rose Lotus moves her head back, noticing the bad smell.
"Phew, this one needs it...!" Rose Lotus shuddered in disgust.
Mr. Cake then bursts out from the storage room with two fresh diapers on his tail.
"Oh, I got it." Mr. Cake said.
He then lays the twins side by side on an open patch of a countertop and quickly takes off their soiled diapers, then throws them into a nearby trach can. He then deploys some baby powder onto the foals and then immediately puts the new and clean diapers on the twins and they looked good as new. The two babies giggled while Mr. Cake goes to wash his hooves.
"Is anypony hungry?" Mr. Cake asks out of the blue.
"Ah, no thanks." Pinkie Pie replied as she kept smiling at the twins. "I just had a big breakfast."
Mr. Cake throws her a funny look while Rose Lotus face-hoofed as Mrs. Cake enters from the storage room, a tray with two baby bottles balanced on her tail.
"I'm on it." Mrs. Cake said.
With a flick of her tail, Mrs. Cake sends the two baby bottles in the air directly into the babies mouths as they started to suck and drink the milk out of the bottles. Pinkie Pie, Rose Lotus, and Djali watches them drink their bottles, but the party pony is impatient as she looks at her wristwatch on her hoof. As soon as they were done drinking their milk, the twins sat up and their smiles turned into looks of general distress. Pinkie Pie eyes them quizzically before breaking out a huge smile.
"Oh, oh, you're making funny faces! I have one! Bleghhhh!" Pinkie Pie said, bugs one eye out and lets her tongue hang loose.
"Seriously, Mom?" Rose Lotus said, annoyed. "They need to be burped after eating."
"They can't do it on their own?" Pinkie Pie asks, turned to her daughter.
"No." Rose Lotus answered.
Rose Lotus scoops the twins up, leans one over each shoulder, and starts patting both tiny backs at once. In no time flat, she's rewarded with a double-barreled belch that brings great revulsion to Pinkie Pie's face for a brief instant, but she brightens immediately afterwards.
"All set now? Everything good? Okay, who wants to play again?" Pinkie Pie asks eagerly.
Pinkie Pie then zips off and the twins jump out of the gypsy fillies arms and started trotting eagerly after her. As they were running, Pound Cake stumbles and falls near a stack of blocks and eyes on them before standing up on his hind legs, knocking them over. Before he could fall back onto the floor, Mrs. Cake dives in low to catch him.
"Uh uh uh, Pound Cake, no pounding things." Mrs. Cake said firmly.
Pound Cake simply just smiles. Pumpkin Cake, still follows Pinkie Pie, stops by the dropped baby powder can and gets its non-business end in her mouth. After a moment's sucking or gumming on it, Mrs. Cake walks up, clicks her tongue reprovingly, and takes it away in her own teeth.
"Uh uh uh uh, we don't chew on things, Pumpkin Cake." Mr. Cake told her.
"Except food." Pinkie Pie added suddenly when Mrs. Cake gave a dramatic gasp.
"Food! Great cinnamon sticks, I completely forgot!" Mrs. Cake exclaims in shock, dropped the baby powder.
"No, you just fed them bottles, remember?" Pinkie Pie replied calmly.
"Not the babies food!" Mrs. Cake told her.
"Gah! The food for the enormously big catering order we have to deliver today!" Mr. Cake exclaims.
"Oh, with the new twins, we've been so distracted!" Mrs. Cake adds.
Mrs. Cake then slings up a couple of baby carriers on her back and Mr. Cake puts the foals in the carrier.
"Quick, honeybun, we need to find a babysitter to watch the foals while we take care of this." Mr. Cake suggested wearily.
"If it's alright, I can help with the rush order until you can find somepony who can do the job if you don't mind me doing that much." Rose Lotus offered.
"Well, if you can get started on that order for us, we would be very grateful." Mr. Cake said to his daughter-figure.
As the two head for the door, leaving Rose Lotus headed to the kitchen while working on the rush order, Pinkie Pie felt eager.
"I could do it!" Pinkie Pie offered. "I wanna do it! Oh, the babies love playing with me, I'll do it!"
Outside in Ponyville, the Cakes were on their way to find a babysitter for the foals and Pinkie Pie happily hops after them.
"I wonder who would be available on such short notice?" Mrs. Cake asks to her husband.
"Me! Me! Pick me!" Pinkie Pie said as she bounced up and down, but the Cakes continued to ignore her.
The Cakes arrived at Fluttershy's cottage and they asked her and Winter Breeze if they could babysit the foals.
"Oh, we would love to babysit!" Fluttershy replied as the Cakes smiled excitedly. "But I can't today, sorry."
The Cakes frowned instantly.
"I promised Angel we'd go on a picnic." Fluttershy informed them.
Angel is seen tapping his foot and he points to the picnic basket beside him impatiently. The Cakes then dejectedly take their leave as Fluttershy puts her head out of the door.
"You understand, don't you?" Fluttershy asked, but seeing them leaving. "Y-You're not mad at me? Please, don't be mad!"
Pinkie Pie then pops up, cradling Angel and rocking him vigorously.
"I'll do it! Pick me!" Pinkie Pie offered.
At the Golden Oak Library, the Cakes are inside and they ask Twilight if she can babysit for them, but she shakes her head sadly.
"I have to finish this report for the Princess summarizing all mine and Mario's other reports to the Princess." Twilight explains. "Also, Comet and Daylight are doing their homework for the assignment Ms. Cheerlie has given them."
Spike is then seen standing on a stool, balancing with one foot and carrying a bunch of papers all over his body. Both Comet and Daylight were doing the assignment. The Cakes immediately leave, ignoring Pinkie Pie who's rocking a book that had a diaper on, back and forth.
"I wanna babysit! Pick me!" Pinkie Pie said.
The Cakes arrived at Sweet Apple Acres with a beaming smile, hoping to see if either Applejack, Bright Mac, or Buttercup had the time to babysit, but as soon as they saw that they're bucking some apple trees in a hurry, their smiles faded as they could instantly tell that they're very busy. Applejack, Apple Shine, Bright Mac, and Buttercup quickly dropped the apples in a basket.
"Babysit? Now? When there's a swarm o' hungry caterpillars headin' this way?!" Applejack exclaimed. "We gotta get all the apples picked before they get swarmed on!"
A caterpillar tries to take an enormous bite out of a nearby apple, but Applejack takes it away before it could and fell face first at the dirt. The Cakes then head out as Pinkie Pie darts out of nowhere, rocking a batch of apples in her hooves.
"Ooh, ooh, I wanna do it!" Pinkie Pie said, but was ignored.
The Cakes then go to Rainbow Dash and Storm Hawk who's up in a cloud and to no surprise, they had to decline the favor as they shook their heads.
"I got tickets to the Wonderbolts airshow this afternoon." Rainbow Dash said. "Gotta dash!"
Rainbow Dash and Storm Hawk then flies off with enough speed to vaporize the cloud and leave the Cakes goggling after them. Pinkie Pie is then seen with a cloud that had a diaper on and tosses it back and forth over her head onto her hooves.
"Ask me! Memememememememememememe!" Pinkie Pie said in a singing tone.
Pinkie Pie then wasn't paying attention to what she's doing and forgets to catch the cloud as it bursts apart upon hitting the ground. After a furtive glance at the aftermath, she bails out at top speed.
At the Dojo, the Cakes are inside and ask if Mario can babysit for them, but he shakes his head sadly.
"I have to go on a long journey with my friends." Mario explains. "We manage to discover the location of one of the Serpentine Staff."
Zane, Kai, and Nya were seen packing some rations, water, and their weapons to ready for a long journey since they managed to find the location of where the Serpentine Staff is hidden. The Cakes immediately leave, ignoring Pinkie Pie who's rocking a scroll.
"I'll do it! Pick me!" Pinkie Pie said.
At the Carousel Boutique, the Cakes were right in front of Rarity at the front door, but she declined.
"I've got my hooves full with my children and my work." Rarity told them. "Having to take care of them while making fashions is enough stress as it is."
Kronk was seen making a fashion for the client and Golden Charm is taking care of his sister.
The Cakes then leave the shop with a pant of exhaustion. It was then Pinkie Pie stood before them with a toothy smile. They knew what she wanted to ask, and knew it all the time. It seem that they've got no other choice but to ask her.
"Pinkie Pie, how would like to babysit for us?" Mr. Cake asks with a groan of unenthusiastic tone which made Pinkie Pie gasp excitedly.
"I don't know, I'll have to check my schedule." Pinkie Pie answered casually.
Though, Pinkie Pie was only teasing as she gave them a smirk, but the Cakes were too busy wondering if they made the right decision.
However, they didn't have time to think about it as they returned to Sugarcube Corner and went to collecting the food they needed for the delivery. Since they'd taken a lot of time trying to find a babysitter, Rose Lotus managed to get all but a single cake completed without much of a problem. While the Cakes were very grateful, they're more worried about the fact that their twins were now in a hooves of Pinkie Pie. Mrs. Cake pulled Rose Lotus aside as she was trying to help assemble the cake.
"Rose, I know you're learning how to take care of them and since you had no babysitting experience, but...could you...help Pinkie out?" Mrs. Cake asks her daughter-figure nervously.
Rose Lotus blinked before shook her head and looks at her.
"I know Mom can be over the top, but are you sure about this?" Rose Lotus asks which Mrs. Cake looked uneasy. "I'm still new to this and like you said, I've got no experience in babysitting."
"I know, dearie, but please, will you just do this favor for me?" Mrs. Cake pleads when Rose Lotus sighed.
"I don't..."
"Mrs. Cake?" Pinkie Pie called her, peeks in.
"Yes, Pinkie, is something wrong?" Mrs. Cake asks frantically.
"No, I just wanted to ask if you're okay if I ask Rosey to help me?" Pinkie Pie suggested, but Mrs. Cake blinked before she smiled.
"That's a wonderful idea." Mrs. Cake replied in a cheery tone, then turns to Rose Lotus. "Rose, do you think you could help your mom?"
Her smile was not only over the top, but also showed desperation which the gypsy filly can tell.
"Alright." Rose Lotus replied uneasily.
"Yay!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed, hugging her daughter hard from the side. "It will be like we're new parents!"
Djali glared at Pinkie Pie as he leaps in midair, headbutting her from behind and sent her flying down to the floor.
"Mom, I'm only agreeing to this because she asked and I'll be needing some help on taking care of the twins." Rose Lotus told her sternly while taking off her earring and her bandana, revealing her dark raven hair. "Also, these two are going to be hard to handle, and it's a lot of responsibility."
Mrs. Cake agreed to her statement before moving the rest of the goodies from the kitchen to the cart. Pinkie Pie, Rose Lotus, Djali, and the twins just watched as the Cakes rushed to load up their cart.
"Now, Pinkie, are you sure you really understand the responsibility of watching over two babies?" Mr. Cake asks her.
"I can be responsible." Pinkie Pie answered in determination. "Why, responsibility is my middle name. Pinkie Responsibility Pie."
"I thought your middle name was 'Diane'." Rose Lotus points out.
"Figure of speech!" Pinkie Pie called out as Mrs. Cake got into her face.
"But this time you need to take care of them, not just play with them." Mrs. Cake told her. "You have to be responsible."
"Yes, I know." Pinkie Pie said. "I will. I am. Remember, I have Rosey here to give me a hoof if I need one."
Pinkie Pie gave her a salute. It was then a ding was heard and Mrs. Cake hurried inside, then came back to the main room carting an undecorated cake.
"Wait, Mrs. Cake!" Rose Lotus said since she's going to try decorating it.
"Oh, here you are, dearie. All your responsibilities are on this list." Mrs. Cake said as she tossed Pinkie Pie a very, very long list, which made her gasp.
"Whoa! That's a lot of responsi-"
Pinkie Pie then recomposed herself.
"Consider it done." Pinkie Pie said.
"Mrs. Cake!" Rose Lotus called out as she entered the main room. "The cake is undecorated."
Mrs. Cake noticed as Mr. Cake walked up to her.
"We'll frost it when we get there!" Mr. Cake told them, turns to his wife. "C'mon, sugarplum, tick-tick!"
"Sorry..." Rose Lotus said sadly, feeling bad she's unable to finish the cake.
"You did your best, dearie." Mrs. Cake told her, kissed her on the forehead before turning to Pinkie Pie. "Take good care of our two precious little gingersnaps!"
"No problemo, Mr. and Mrs. Cake, everything is under control." Pinkie Pie said as she pushed Mrs. Cake out of the shop.
Pinkie Pie and Rose Lotus both waved them goodbye as the Cakes returned the gesture and headed on their way. Pinkie Pie had barely closed the door when the twins suddenly looked sad, but she gave them a smile.
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
The twins burst into tears.
"Uh-oh!" Pinkie Pie and Rose Lotus said, flustered by the foals bawling.
"Okay, don't panic." Rose Lotus muttered, turns to her mother. "Mom! Do you anything that calms them down?"
"Ooh! Yes! Don't cry little friends! Look, look!" Pinkie Pie said nervously, race across the room and hides behind the storage doors. "Where's Pinkie Pie? Where's Pinkie Pie?"
The twins trade a bewildered look, then starts crying all over again.
"Oh no! I'm right here, see?" Pinkie Pie said.
The game made no difference as the foals were still crying, Pinkie Pie tried making funny faces at the foals and it did nothing either.
"Um, Rosey!" Pinkie Pie called her daughter. "I could use some help here!"
"Mom, you're not seeing it right." Rose Lotus points out. "I think they want to play with something they want to play, not what you want to play."
Rose Lotus began searching through the toy chest while Djali helps out, found some blocks and a small stuffed animal to the twins as they places both of the objects to them. Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake trade some looks before looking at the objects, then changed from crying to the two playing with their toys. Pinkie Pie was just surprised at that.
"Wow, how did you know what they want, Rose?" Pinkie Pie asks. "I thought you have no experience in babysitting."
"I don't, but I learned couple of things from Mrs. Cake and Rarity." Rose Lotus answered.
Pinkie Pie looks at both of the foals happily playing with their toys until she got an idea as she ran back into the storage room, brought out a bunch of cooking utensils and started balancing them on herself, making Rose Lotus confused.
"Mom, what are you doing?" Rose Lotus asks.
"I'm going to give these little guys something else they should play with." Pinkie Pie replied which made Rose Lotus and Djali widen their eyes.
"Mom! I don't think that you should be using cooking utensils around..."
Pinkie Pie then accidentally slips and fall, which made the utensils fly off her and some knocked over the tiny stack of blocks that Pound Cake was building with and a fork went through the middle of the stuffed animal that Pumpkin Cake was playing with.
"...Babies." Rose Lotus finished her sentence with a cringe.
Both Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake see this and immediately started bawling their eyes out again, causing Rose Lotus and Djali glaring at Pinkie Pie.
"...Oops..." Pinkie Pie said with a nervous chuckle.
Rose Lotus and Djali then picks both of the ruined toys and utensils laying on the floor and puts them somewhere contained.
"Alright, I suppose you've got an idea on how to handle THIS!" Rose Lotus said, points at the twins.
Pinkie Pie then contemplates on something to stop the foals from crying.
"Oh, think-think-think..." Pinkie Pie said and then something clicked on her mind. "Aha!"
"You've got an idea?!" Rose Lotus asks.
"Yep, follow me!" Pinkie Pie suggests.
In a storage room where it's dark, Pinkie Pie puts both the twins near a little table with a vase and they both looked at each other thoroughly confused. Rose Lotus and Djali were also confused, wondering what Pinkie Pie is planning.
"Hey guys, watch this!" Pinkie Pie said.
In front of them is a red curtain backdrop, a broom, and a stool. Applause is made as Pinkie Pie trots into view with a spotlight following her and she grabs the broom to use it as a handle end like a microphone.
"Hey, you're a wonderful crowd here tonight! Where y'all from?" Pinkie Pie asks.
Pinkie Pie holds out the end of the broom to the twins and Pumpkin Cake opens her mouth answer, but nothing comes out so she pulls the broom back at her.
"Wow, that's great." Pinkie Pie said, trying to continue the comedy routine. "You know, I use to have an ant farm, but I had to get rid of it because...I couldn't find tractors that small!"
The rimshot jingle was heard as the twins only reacted with puzzled stares and silence. Rose Lotus and Djali groaned, knew this won't end well.
"Get it? Tractors that small?" Pinkie Pie asked, but just got more silence, puzzled faces from the twins and blank looks from Rose Lotus and Djali. "The other day, I spilled spot remover on my dog...and now I can't him!"
Pinkie Pie then zips over to a snare drum and cymbal set up in a corner to play the jingle herself this time, getting only a fresh wave of crying from the twins.
"Gee, tough crowd." Pinkie Pie said.
Rose Lotus just looks at her mother over at the drums and facehoofs. When she looks back at her, Pinkie Pie was already standing in front of them with the broom on her hoof which made the gypsy filly look back and forth from her blink of an eye moment.
"Tell me about it." Pinkie Pie replied to herself.
"Mom! Stand-up comedy isn't going to work on month old foals!" Rose Lotus told her in annoyance. "How about we should just give them..."
Pinkie Pie covers her mouth with her hoof and she got an idea in her head.
"Don't worry, Rosey!" Pinkie Pie said. "I wasn't gonna pull off a show stopper, but they're a lovely audience and I think you deserve it!"
It got Rose Lotus confused when Pinkie Pie pulls herself on a backstage for a second before she came back out with a rubber pig nose on and she started to sing to them while bouncing all over the place.
Pinkie Pie (Sings):
First you jiggle your tail! Oink oink oink!
Then you wiggle your snout! Oink oink oink!
Then you wiggle your rump! Oink oink oink!
Then shout it out! Oink oink oink!
Pinkie Pie sings the verse twice more at faster tempos and the twins expressions deteriorate from confusion to crying once more. Eventually, Rose Lotus tries to stop her mother from trying to do her little musical by trying to stop her from bouncing all over the place. But instead, it ended up with Pinkie Pie tripping over Rose Lotus and they both tumbled across the floor over to a cabinet with her rubber snout falling off. A bag of flour then falls onto both of them and white clouds puff out in all directions and clear to show that every square inch of them was white with flour all over them. The foals sees this and fall silent, then break into happy gurgles and laughter at the sight.
"There, see?" Pinkie Pie said in exhaustion, smiles wearily. "Nothing to this babysitting business!"
She then collapses to the ground. Rose Lotus just rolls her eyes and shakes her head.
"Well, that's one way to do it." Rose Lotus said sarcastically.
They both eventually got cleaned up from the flour and Rose Lotus was currently looking at the list that the Cakes gave her, sees what's next.
"Hmm...snack time." Rose Lotus muttered when Pinkie Pie rushed up behind her daughter, which surprises her.
"Oooh! That should be easy enough." Pinkie Pie said.
Pinkie Pie goes over to a cabinet and grabs two bowls filled with soft food and brings them over to the twins, who were in adjacent high chairs. Pound Cake was banging on his tray while Pumpkin Cake was sucking her hoof.
"Okie-dokie! Eat up!" Pinkie Pie said.
Pinkie Pie places both of the plates down in front of the foals and they both look at the bowls before staring up at her with blank faces. Pinkie Pie then tries to give them an example by picking up an empty bowl.
"Like this!" Pinkie Pie said. "Num-num-num, num-num-num-num! Aah!"
Rose Lotus then comes up to her with a spoon.
"Mom, you can't just tell them to eat it. You have to encourage them to want to eat." Rose Lotus told her. "Like this!"
Rose Lotus scoops up a piece of food from Pound Cake's bowl and puts it in front of his face.
"Pound Cake, here comes the choo-choo train." Rose Lotus said, making train noises.
Pound Cake giggles from that and chomps on a spoon that Rose Lotus had in front of him. He chews on his food before swallowing it, made him let out a happy laugh.
"See, like this." Rose Lotus said.
"Oooh! Let me try! Let me try!" Pinkie Pie said excitedly as she grabs the spoon and puts it in front of Pumpkin Cake's face next. "Pumpkin Cake! Look! This grub is an alien. It said that it wants you to eat it. Wheeeeee-ooooooo!"
Pumpkin Cake had the same reaction that Pound Cake did as she giggled and ate the food that was on the spoon, chews it down. Both Pinkie Pie and Rose Lotus gave a huge smiles to each other.
"That was perfect, Mom!" Rose Lotus praises her mother. "How about you gave some food to Pumpkin Cake while I take Pound Cake?"
"Sure! This will be fun for both of us and the twins." Pinkie Pie replied.
It took longer than they thought as after a long 20 minutes, both of the twins bowls were empty and they had food all over them from trying to eat and they're both just giving out adorable gurgles. However, both Pinkie Pie and Rose Lotus were breathing a little heavily.
"Wow! I did not think that feeding them was that hard." Pinkie Pie pants in exhaustion.
"You and me both." Rose Lotus agrees.
Both of the twins then started to make some weird faces which Pinkie Pie notice.
"Ooooh! They're making funny faces again..." Pinkie Pie said, but remembered something. "Wait! No they're not. What did you say about these kinds of faces?"
"They need to be burped, Mom." Rose Lotus answered with a chuckle.
Rose Lotus carries both of the foals up and put both of them over her shoulders to face their backs towards Pinkie Pie. She gestures for her mother to pat their backs which she smiles at it and goes over, starts patting both of their backs lightly, but rapidly.
Both of the babies then let out some big burps this time which surprised both Rose Lotus and Pinkie Pie.
"Woah! That's a big one." Rose Lotus states.
"Looks like they either ate the food or they had a balloon pop inside of them." Pinkie Pie joked which made Rose Lotus giggled.
"Good one, Mom." Rose Lotus said, then pulls the list that Mrs. Cake gave her and sees what's next. "Bath time. That seems fair, given that they're a bit of a mess from eating. Hey, Mom, can you go to the bathroom and set up a nice bubbly tub for these two?"
"You got it, Rosey!" Pinkie Pie replied with a salute as she zips on through to where the bathroom is to set up the bath for the foals.
In the bathroom, Pinkie Pie finishes setting up a bathtub filled with steaming sudsy water as she turns off the faucet.
"Bath's ready, Rose!" Pinkie Pie called out.
Rose Lotus and Djali then walks into the bathroom and set both the twins down, taking their diapers off so they don't get wet while she and Pinkie Pie were washing them. As soon as she finishes doing that however, both of the foals jump up with a happy yell and race off, with Pinkie Pie, Rose Lotus, and Djali in hot pursuit.
"Hey! Get back here!" Rose Lotus shouts.
Pinkie Pie chases after Pound Cake while Rose Lotus and Djali chases after Pumpkin Cake. They kept chasing after them around the place until they eventually come back into the bathroom. Pumpkin Cake starts chewing on a towel which Djali grabs it and Rose Lotus pulls the foal away from it.
"Uh uh, we don't put towels in our mouths, Pumpkin Cake." Rose Lotus lightly scolds her.
Rose Lotus quickly scoops Pumpkin Cake up in her hooves and turns to Pinkie Pie, who was looking around with panic in the room.
"Where's Pound Cake?!" Pinkie Pie questions. "I was just chasing him a second ago!"
They then heard giggling as they both walked up to a medicine cabinet to see Pound Cake's tail hanging out of it. Pinkie Pie then opens it and they met with the colt standing on his hind legs before he rushes off again. Djali has had enough, chases after him and eventually grabs him by the scruff with his teeth. Djali and Rose Lotus finally deposit the twins in the tub. However, they're rewarded with a fresh wave of screams and tears.
"Oh, not again!" Rose Lotus groans in annoyance, which Djali bleats and also annoyed.
Pinkie Pie then gets an idea as she digs into the tub, pulls out a hoof-load of bubbles.
"Ooh, look guys! Bubbles!" Pinkie Pie said.
Pinkie Pie gently blows some bubbles in the air which makes the twins stop crying and they just smile while looking at the bubbles. Rose Lotus looks at her mother and smiled when Pinkie Pie smiled in return. They both decided to play around the bubbles to encourage the foals as Pinkie Pie puts a beard of soap suds on her face and Rose Lotus makes a mustache with the soap. Everything is sweetness and light until a particular big bubble bursts on Pumpkin Cake's horn and the crying starts again. Rose Lotus, Pinkie Pie, and Djali look at each other with worried looks, shake themselves clean.
Djali thought of an idea as he grabs a rubber ducky and gives it a squeeze to make it squeak before he places it to the tub with the twins.
"Look you two, some bath toys." Rose Lotus said.
The twins then stop crying from this and grew happy looks from the toy. Pinkie Pie smiles at this before getting an idea, rushes off to bring even more bath toys. She brings a penguin and a sponge, but came back with a beach ball and a crab which Djali and Rose Lotus stops her.
"Don't overwhelm them!" Rose Lotus berates her. "The rubber ducky, the penguin, and the sponge should be enough."
Pinkie Pie sighs from this and puts the toys that she found, back where they belong. Rose Lotus then proceeds to use a washcloth to give them a nice, gentle bath. Pinkie Pie was looking from the door to see how well her daughter was handling the foals and she gives out a sad sigh.
After they were finished with the bath, they decided to go upstairs and were in the babies room which Djali is downstairs, looking to see what was next on the list.
"Hmm...we've done playtime, snack time, bath time. What's next?" Rose Lotus muttered.
As Rose Lotus says that, both she and Pinkie Pie smell some rather unpleasant fumes wafting their way. They both let out a gasp and cover their noses, trying not to hurl and they look to see that the stench was coming from the babies diapers.
"Ugh! Diaper changings next!" Rose Lotus groans in disgust.
"Smells like somepony needs a changy-wangy their diaper-wiper now-a-wow!" Pinkie Pie adds.
Both Pinkie Pie and Rose Lotus each grab one clean diaper and they both start to tiptoe. They both slowly work their way toward the pair, zig-zagging between their cribs. They both eventually got near them without the twins looking as Pinkie Pie was on top of the crib while Rose Lotus was hiding from the corner.
"Easy...Easy..." Pinkie Pie said quietly as she made her way towards the twins.
"...Now!" Rose Lotus said.
The approach of both of their shadows attracts both of their attention as they laugh and flee from their diving tackles, causing both of them to miss and land on top of each other. They both sighed as they got up and start looking for the two foals as unbeknownst to them, they were hiding behind a dresser in the corner of the room. Pumpkin Cake lets out a soft giggle as that some attention from Pinkie Pie and she peeks her head to glare and growl at both of them. She charges in on them, causing a dust scuffle between her and the foals to happen as they started giggling, making Rose Lotus surprised of what's going on.
"Wait-no-stay there-"
Pinkie Pie then quickly grabs a couple of clean diapers and resumes the tiny brawl. The sound of ratchet wrench is heard which made Rose Lotus raise an eyebrow as she then sees Pound Cake trying to crawl away, but Pinkie Pie quickly grabs him back.
"Just-for a second-stand still, I've almost-"
A jackhammer sound is heard as well and soon it was finished as it now revealed that both of the foals had their diapers off and they're instead somewhere. Both of their clean diapers were on Pinkie Pie's head and on her rump. Her smug smile turns to embarrassment once she realizes how badly this endeavor has gone wrong, and the twins laugh and zips away.
"Oh, you've gotta be kidding me." Pinkie Pie exclaimed.
"Don't worry, I got it." Rose Lotus said as she whistled for Djali.
Rose Lotus quickly grabs two clean diapers while Djali approaches and rushes over as he quickly grabs the foals, sit and pin both of them on a table. Rose Lotus approaches them and in just a few seconds without any issues, both of the foals had their new diapers. Pinkie Pie just dropped her jaw from the way Rose Lotus and Djali were working together and able to handle that with little problems at all. Djali then lays both of the foals back down on the floor for them to go and continue to play before Rose Lotus turns to her mother, who still shocked.
"See, Mom? Some things are harder than they seem." Rose Lotus said. "Which is why it may take more than just you, Djali, and me to handle these kinds of things."
"Excuse me!?" Pinkie Pie said, feeling offended.
"Mrs. Cake said babies take a lot of work to get under control and we also have to be smart about it." Rose Lotus told her. "One pony may not be enough to handle the responsibility."
Pinkie Pie growls a little from that. She felt clearly offended as she grabs Rose Lotus and Djali and take them outside of the room, then give them a glare.
"Well, in that case, I'll be the one to put these foals to sleep, Rose." Pinkie Pie said. "I think you've probably done enough for the entire day."
Rose Lotus and Djali just gives her a confused look from that.
"If you'll excuse me, I'll be the one to put them to sleep. By myself!" Pinkie Pie told her.
"What are you talking about?" Rose Lotus asks. "I thought you want us to do it together."
"Well, I've learned enough to see how one does it alone." Pinkie Pie said. "So, I'll politely ask that you'll stay out of the door from this one, Rose."
Although she asked politely, her voice was more condescending as she takes the diaper off herself and goes back to the door where the babies were in. Rose Lotus just sighed as she and Djali head downstairs. Pinkie Pie takes a peek in the room to see Pound Cake jumping on the mattress of his crib and Pumpkin Cake was sitting on the floor, sucking on a rubber chicken. Pinkie Pie was about to rush up to Pound Cake when she heard a loud bleat which got her and the twins attention.
"Djali! I thought I...where's Rosey?" Pinkie Pie asks as Djali gestured her to follow him.
Pinkie Pie followed him along with Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake and saw the slither tracks on the floor which could only mean one thing.
"The Serpentines!" Pinkie Pie exclaims, gasps but her expression quickly turns to anger. "NOPONY TAKES MY DAUGHTER AND GETS AWAY WITH IT!?"
And with that Pinkie Pie quickly grabs hold of the twins in the baby carriers, then rushes out of Sugarcube Corner and follow the trail.
In the Everfree Forest, Rose Lotus was held captured by none other than Pythor. Pythor tosses Rose Lotus against the tree as she lands on the ground with a grunt.
"I'm going to enjoy having you for lunch." Pythor said with a smug smile.
"You're not getting away with this!" Rose Lotus shouts angrily.
"Ooh, but I already have..." Pythor said as he was about to eat her.
"PYTHOR!?" The voice of Pinkie Pie yelled earned his attention when she saw her chasing after him with a very angry mama glare on her eyes. "GIVE MY DAUGHTER BACK!?"
Pythor flinches at that, about to grab Rose Lotus as Pinkie Pie tackles him to ground, began to deliver a beatdown. Rose Lotus tried to free herself from the binds when the twins arrived next to her, Pumpkin Cake began to use magic to untie those binds which made the gypsy filly surprised.
After a few minutes of beating, Pinkie Pie delivers Pythor a flurry of punchs and kicks, then wraps his body around like a pretzel. Pound Cake began flapping his wings hard, flew towards Pythor as he pounds him with his hoofs while Pumpkin Cake uses her magic to levitate the tree branch, delivers him a few whacks on the head. Both Pinkie Pie and Rose Lotus were surprised while watching the twins given Pythor a good beating.
"Those little brats!?" Pythor snarled, then turns to them. "I'll get you yet!"
Pythor then opens the portal as he went through it, closes the portal.
After Pythor is dealt with, both Pumpkin Cake and Pound Cake tackled Rose Lotus with an excited gurgle, wrapping their tiny hooves around her neck.
"That was close." Rose Lotus said with relief. "Thanks, Mom."
"I didn't do it alone, Rosey. Pumpkin and Pound were helping and give them a good beating." Pinkie Pie told her. "Look, Rose, I'm really sorry that I snapped. I guess I'm way over my head, I'm not a good babysitter."
"What makes you say that?" Rose Lotus asks, sat herself up while holding the twins.
"You've done way better of a job than I did." Pinkie Pie said, sniffled in tears. "Mr. and Mrs. Cake were right not to choose me to babysit!"
Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake also see this as they both could feel Pinkie Pie's pain.
"You...seem...to handle...everything...without...my help!" Pinkie Pie said as she breaks out in tears.
The foals look at Rose Lotus and she looks back at them as well. Rose Lotus then walk towards to her mother, giving her a comfort hug while the twins did the same, which surprises Pinkie Pie.
"Mom...I think you're an excellent babysitter." Rose Lotus said, leaving Pinkie Pie confused. "You may not have been able to do everything on your own, but I believe that you actually did a good job at starting most of what needed to be done, I was just able to finish it. With the snacks, bath, and you even saved me from Pythor. You still did try your best and I believe you still would've found some way to be just like how anypony was."
Pinkie Pie calm down a little more from this as she returned the hug to her daughter, still crying out slightly. After few minutes of crying, Rose Lotus hugs the twins to show how thankful she was.
Eventually, it was late at night and Pinkie Pie and Rose Lotus were able to give the twins a bath, again, and they finally tucked the foals in bed as they both smiled at each other before going downstairs to clean the mess all over Sugarcube Corner's kitchen. Pinkie Pie thinks of a letter to write to Princess Celestia.
'Dear, Princess Celestia
I've always had fun playing with little kids, and I thought babysitting meant just more playtime, right? Wrong! Being a caregiver is way more responsibility then just being a playmate. And today, I learned that sometimes our desire for responsibility can outrun our actual ability to handle it.'
Both of the Cakes eventually arrive back at Sugarcube Corner and they entered inside with slight worried looks.
"Pinkie Pie! We're back!" Mr. Cake called out.
"How did everything go?" Mrs. Cake asks.
It got both of the Cakes gasped in shock, saw the front of the bakery was nice and clean.
"Are we in the right place?" Mr. Cake asks.
Both of the Cakes heard Pinkie Pie and Rose Lotus at the stairway, softly shushing them as she gestures her head upstairs. Inside, the four peek inside to see both of the twins sleeping peacefully which gives the Cakes proud look.
"Rose! You are an excellent babysitter!" Mrs. Cake told her, hugging the gypsy filly. "We can't thank you enough!"
"Don't just thank me, thank Mom as well." Rose Lotus told her with a smile. "She helped just as much with the twins."
The Cakes gasped at that.
"P-Pinkie, this is just...just..."
"Amazing is what it is." Mr. Cake finishes his wife's sentence. "We had no idea how responsible you really are."
Both of the Cakes look at each other and nod before looking back at the two.
"Would you two be interested in becoming our go-to babysitter on a permanent basis?" Mr. Cake offered.
Both Pinkie Pie and Rose Lotus went wide-eyed before looking at each other. Rose Lotus just looks away.
"Hm-Ah-lemme check my schedule!" Pinkie Pie suggested nervously, pulls out a notebook. "I should be available a week from...never!"
Both of them heard the foals sigh while sleeping as they look back and they both heard two words come from each of them.
"Pinkie..."
"Pie..."
"Rose..."
"Lotus..."
Hearing their own names from the twins, perhaps the first words they have ever spoken touches a soft spot in both of them as they look at each other with tears, nearly in their eyes from that, but they fight it back.
"We have some free time on Tuesday." Pinkie Pie said quietly as the Cakes smiled.
After the Cakes head to their rooms, both Pinkie Pie and Rose Lotus were heading to bed to get some sleep after a long hectic day they had.
"Rosey, thank you for helping me." Pinkie Pie thanked her daughter with a smile.
"And thank you, for saving my life." Rose Lotus thanked back as they went to sleep.
