After eight hours of running the sun started setting. X knew that his battery was no where near full enough for night operations. Thankfully East city was still several days away so he felt he was relatively safe. He ended up stopping at an abandoned barn so he could conserve power until the morning. As a robot master he didn't need sleep, but running on standbye would minimize drain to his operational limit. He would be fully aware if something happened so he settled in.

Sadly at a few minutes past midnight the sound of gunfire could be heard. The peaceful stillness was broken as X came fully online. Bullet holes riddled the already decaying structure followed by laughter then an explosion. His hiding place was soon engulfed in flames.

As the hunter charged thru flames a scream was heard. Then the sound of a vehicle speeding away followed. Once the boy got outside he saw why. Multiple robots that hovered in the air using propeller blades began firing. Energy bullets added to the destruction as X was forced to dodge for his life. It seemed some of Doctor Wily's creations had a new master.

He could feel his solar power going down as he brought his buster cannon to bare. They were fast and manuvered expertly causing him to waste energy. The more time went by the greater the damage he took.

Over his communicator he heard a familiar voice. The device was mounted in his helmet and came in clear. "X what's wrong your output is dropping rapidly?" Bulma listened with the line open for a few minutes. All she heard was a lot of weapon discharge. Way more than her little savior could account for. "Don't worry I'm sending backup right away!"

While his handler was trying to reach him, he managed to take out the last of his opponents. If X were human he would be breathing heavy. Instead a danger indicator was flashing in front of his electronic eyes. He felt sluggish, but managed to drag himself away from the still raging flames. The last thing he saw was a small man made lake that he sunk in to escape. Fortunately, his entire body was water tight so additional part damage was nullified.

Hours later the hum of a capsule motor bike could be heard. The burnt skeleton of a barn had fallen to pieces. There was simply no more burnable fuel remaining. So the fire had put itself out. An orange bodied being stared at the wrecked robots. He had a pair of shears on his head and a look of confidence on his face.

"Wow dude, what a mess." He tapped his on board radio to life as he spoke. "Hey Bulma this is Cut man reporting in. Looks like X found a not so radical problem. They look like Wily's work. Man dudette I thought he was dead, like years ago!"

Bulma stared at her super computer screen for a few moments typing away. Then she found her answer. "He is, old newspaper articles say he died when his lab exploded. It's been about twelve years, though no body was found."

"Well dudette I think the press might have been fooled." He pondered this while he scanned the area for X. "Wait are the living dead like a real thing now, cause that worries me?"

"No Cut man you don't need to be concerned about zombies. At least your honest about your fears. Doctor Light had the right idea when he made his creations unable to lie." Bulma sighed loudly as she stretched at her computer. "Have you located X yet?"

"Working on it babe your sensor is functioning fine." The robot master followed an indicator to a body of water. Once there he jumped in an located his builder's last creation. He dragged the dude onto dry land and checked him over. "Looks like some minor damage dudette. I think the main issue is he ran out of power. What can I do I'm no mechanic?"

"Don't worry Doctor Light thought of everything. He'll go into self repair mode once the sun's up. For now just put him in the side car on your bike. Then get going, East city is still pretty far away." The blue haired lady started the process of waking another one of Light's creations. "Alright this humans got to get some rest, I don't have limitless power cells like you guys."

"Gotcha boss babe, enjoy your gnarly beauty sleep I got this." 'Man this state of the art guy weighs a ton.' Cut man was thinking to himself he might need a strength upgrade in the future. "Well dude looks like it's you and me. Hmm what should I call you? Bro won't work since your not like Mega Man. Your radical gen is far removed from mine so we're not siblings." 'Oh well, guess I got awhile before it matters.'

The orange landscaping robot master idly flipped thru music stations again. He wanted something motivational for his work. Sadly all he got was static just like the trip down. He wasn't programmed to sing dang it.

Suddenly, he heard a human voice crackle over the sound system. "This is your nightly safety update from a secret location. I'm sorry folks I have more bad news tonight. There are more androids than we orginaly thought. We don't have an exact count at the moment. However, be advised several military grade robots have been assisting in the destruction. As always stay safe where you can, signing off." The crackling static resumed seconds later.

With his charge safely buckled in he took off in the direction of East city. One thing was for sure when he got the chance a radio station was in order. Silent trips weren't his thing. The world totally needed good tunes again. He silently cursed the androids for taking away the music.
